My husband surprised me with a wedding anniversary dinner to North Pond. We arrived slightly early but were seated immediately. They had printed prix fix menus with an additional line wishing us a happy anniversary by name, which was just wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable and fun, and greeted us by name also, wishing us a happy anniversary as we were seated. We chose to have wines paired for us, which was a perfect choice (except the dessert wine was too sweet for me but my husband enjoyed it). Our server had facts about every wine that we joked could have been made up but sounded good (she had a great sense of humor).First course: Mushroom Ceviche for husband, Carrot Mussels for me. My second favorite of the whole night. Wonderful acid, wonderful everything. We tasted each others starter but kept coming back to our own.Second course: Octopus and Sweet Potato for me, Rabbit Pierogi for husband. My #1 favorite of the night. It is rare to find octopus that a) has flavorful accompaniments and b) is not overcooked. I would eat that every day. I also really enjoyed tasting my husband's rabbit which I loved (pierogi was OK). He loved it all.Main course: I had halibut biryani and he had Waygu Carrot. He loved every bit of it. I loved everything but the halibut, which was a bit salty and chewy, but tasty. I ADORED the curry sauce, perfect spice for biryani.Dessert: I was too full to eat mine lol. I got Beets and Chocolate cake and coulis, which is waiting in my fridge for a weekend snack time. I did eat the beet sherbet and it was great (I really like earthy stuff with chocolate). He had the cheese plate and was happily surprised by everything on it. He kept eating a savory Creme Brule and telling me and the server he didn't know if he liked it but couldn't stop eating it. I suspect we will be trying to make it at home soon.Lots of interesting experimental intermezzos too. They gave us a semi-freddo that honestly might be the best dessert I ever had (I don't do over-sweet much, and this was perfect sweetness) ....so I don't feel so bad I didn't have room for my "real" dessert. And a cute little anniversary treat at the end with raspberry mini pastries and our names written with ganache on the plate.Atmosphere was intimate, with a lot of Arts and Crafts detail. We were in main dining area, but they also have a room with a fireplace and a view of the pond that we may try some time when it isn't winter and dark out. Yes, we would go back. Amazing.
