Close to rodeo but feel like a cave
This is the letter I wrote them. Dear Sonder, Please let me explain the reason for my failing score on my recent stay. Let me say the location of the hotel was the only positive that we enjoyed during our stay. First off, when we entered the room and saw the tight quarters, we were a little shocked. The bathroom is certainly dated and could use some definite updating, The sink looked knocked out of place. The shower and bathroom floor with the rough concrete look was a little intimidating. The drain cover in the shower not being secured was also a nice touch that we found out the hard way. Then, after traveling all day on Tuesday April 9th, (day we checked in) we decided to retire early for the evening. We were awoken at 9:00 PM by three of the restaurant kitchen staff, sitting in chairs eating their dinner outside our window talking and laughing loudly without care of disturbing patrons. I finally had enough and decided to open the shade and asked them to shut up. Because of this ground level window with staff continuously outside we were unable to open our shades or curtains and made our stay feel as if we were in a cave. (I have pictures and hope I can supply them here). The following day we were getting ready to go out for the day. We were going to lock some things up into the safe that was inoperative, not to mention not even secured in the cabinet. In my opinion that even defeats the purpose of a safe if it can be picked up and carried away. My Fiancé decided to contact the desk about the safe and the noise complaint from the night before. They finally were able to bring us another non secured safe into the room and told us the restaurant was informed about the noise and it would not happen again. At that time, we decided to ask for no room service and just requested towel exchange. We were not comfortable with people in our room at this point. That night we were out with people late and came home late and went right to bed. We did not notice any noise as again we were really exhausted. Thursday night (our last night) we had a nice dinner at the Italian place one block over. We then decided to pack up some stuff and stay in for the evening to watch some TV. At about 10:00PM we were again awakened by excessive noise outside our room from what we believe to be either kitchen staff or maintenance. To say the least we will not choose to stay with you in this location again. I am still deciding which review sites to share this with as I am a member of several. Regards, This was their Lack Luster reply. Thank you for the candid feedback after your recent stay with us. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with the noise keeping you up at night was not up to Sonder standards. Please reach out to us during your next stay and let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your experience more enjoyable. We’d love the chance to make it up to you in the future.

This hotel is really an Air BnB and should be advertised as such. There is no on site housekeeping or maintenance and no way to call the front desk. The desk is not manned overnight. Unfortunately, we had no hot water for several hours. However, Sonder did provide compensation for the inconvenience. It’s in a great location, and the style and decor are cool.

Be the first to ReplyOverall good but needs a bit more managing.
I would start by saying that overall I really liked this hotel, boutique vibe, great photos everywhere, nice staff and bar/restaurant area with great food but….the devil as they say is in the detail and in my room there was a level of inattention to detail in the finishing that let the hotel down and detracted from its good elements. Tatty paintwork, marked bedding, it looked like an iron burn and a badly creased under sheet and a hole in the bathroom door and a torn shower curtain. I like polished concrete as an architectural feature but in a hotel bathroom it just looks a bit grubby so detracts from the experience of what is a pleasant venue in a good location.

Super easy check in- & out. Charming. For the value, and location, can not beat this location. The restaurant downstairs might have some of the best food in Beverly Hills. No frills, so room not huge, and most is basic, but for what I needed it for, perfect. Will stay there again soon.
Be the first to ReplyMostly great things to say.
Great location, spacious room, pleasant staff. The room was a bit dusty and the bathroom could have used a little more TLC from the housekeeping team. I used a small bathroom towel to finish the job myself, then enjoyed the rest of the stay.

Be careful with reservation if you need flexibility! The website does not let you book more than 1 room. Customer service helped me book a 2nd room to fit our whole family, but the 2nd room was under a different non refundable reservation. I was able to cancel the room I booked directly but not the one that the rep booked for me. Our plans changed and unfortunately we’re out of pocket $900+ for this error.

Great boutique hotel in an awesome location! My company recently added Sonder as a preferred supplier so I thought I'd give them a try on a recent business trip. I love the check in process where you receive the code to get into the hotel (if arriving after midnight) and the code to your room. I arrived around 10:30pm and I was a little apprehensive since it was late, dark, and I'm a woman on her own, but it was such a seamless experience. Within 2 minutes of walking through the lobby door, I was in my room. The bed was so comfortable and I loved the cool cement look in the bathroom. The restaurant was pretty and I wish I'd have had time to try the food. I'll definitely stay there again if I need to travel to L.A. again.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely Horrible. Avoid
Absolutely horrible. Arrived for a three night stay, no one on premises to check you in, all is done digitally. No elevator, one must carry all ones bags up the flights of stairs. Finally got into room, but no working lights in room…as in none! After over an hour, their solution was to move me to a much smaller room for one night. That room was very hot…and had only a small window air conditioner that did not seem to keep the room cool. AVOID THIS HOTEL had holes in flooring, and chipped wall paint.bathroom had black mold around tub.
Be the first to ReplyGreat stay!
Had an amazing stay at this property. Amazing staff and fantastic restaurant onsite. I highly recommend the eggplant appetizer! Bed was comfortable and room was cozy, would definitely recommend as it’s super close to rodeo drive and all the best shops!
Be the first to ReplyRoom Disappointment
Positives: The staff was on site and always friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Negatives: There are 10 steps from the street and no elevator to the second floor. Sending in required registration documents online did not flow well. We would have preferred to provide them upon arrival. The room was small with only 1 small two drawer wardrobe. The bathroom had a translucent door, which created bright light in the bedroom at night, and was all concrete, not tiled. It had only 1 small towel rack. The vent was always on with the light. The door scraped the floor. The room lights were either all on or all off. Our only window looked out on an alleyway where restaurant storage bins and garbage cans were located. There was early morning and late night noise from restaurant employees in it. The only seating was a loveseat.
Be the first to ReplyThe best hidden gem of Beverly Hills
This was absolutely the best stay possible in the very heart of Beverly Hills. Our family has travelled from different parts of the country and we couldn’t have picked a better hotel. 2 blocks away from Rodeo drive and yet it felt like a small oasis away from the busy hustle of restaurants and shops. Tastefully done interior of each room, and we had 5 of them, we’re slightly on a smaller size, but only added to the European charm of a boutique hotel. All rooms and common areas are decorated with an exceptional collection of celebrities photographs that I have never seen before, and I love photography! Amazing experience was topped with an unexpected treat - the hotel restaurant alone is worth traveling for! Incredible Mediterranien food from breakfast to dinner - I felt bad leaving the hotel for all the previously made reservations. Tons of highest end famous restaurants around. Keyless stay is becoming my favorite ever. Highest marks and best recommendations! Run and stay there.
Be the first to ReplyGreat affordable option in the heart of Beverly Hills!
A very cute, very quaint hotel only three blocks away from rodeo drive! Nice cafe inside of hotel and staff is super friendly! I will definitely stay again! My only gripe is the shower can get a little messy but other than that this is a great hotel option.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice but needs soundproofing
This is a quirky, European-style hotel. The location is excellent. The provided coffee is delicious. The front-desk staff members are very friendly and helpful. The only issue is the lack of soundproofing. I had trouble getting good sleep because the people in the next room stayed up talking into the wee hours of the morning for two nights in a row. If you are not sensitive to noise, this place is great.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely Surprise
First off the staff is so welcoming in an organic and genuine way. They do not talk to you like they are reading from a script. Em, was specificaly helpful when I had to check out. The room was perfect. It had a huge bed, the bathroom was beautiful. Alot of towels were provided along with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and not these tiny bottles they were normal size which is super nice.
Be the first to ReplyGood location, Needs some loving touches
Wanted to be near a surgeon in Beverly Hills to avoid long commutes. This hotel has really good reviews and looked cute / fresh / different from the other chains I normally choose. About 20 minutes on a good day from LAX. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, groceries and a small pharmacy is also nearby. A few blocks away from the Beverly Hills sign. Celebrity photos decorate the room and the hallways. Nua is the attached restaurant and we liked what we ordered. Pros: -Location -Quiet -Staff Cons: -No microwave (may not be a deal breaker for some) -No lift / elevator *IF YOU CANNOT GO UP STAIRS SKIP THIS HOTEL -One side of the bed has ownership of the outlet for the mini fridge, coffee maker and A/C unit. They do have it attached to a surge protector but you may want to bring your own long cord for a phone charger, etc -Bathroom sink is the type of bowl that sits on the counter and it was hard to wash my face without making a huge mess -Did not like smell of cleaning solution; It smelled like WD40 for 2 days of our 3 day stay -Photos of rooms and hotel look fresh and new. In person it seemed run down / ready for carpet update -There was only one chair in the room for the little table in the corner -The bed frame is metal ... we ran into it so many times I eventually wrapped them with towels to protect our toes (not joking!) TL:DR: I would stay here again if I knew I wasn't going to be spending my time in the room all day as a medical + remote work situation.
Be the first to ReplyBest in Beverly Hills
Had an amazing stay at Sonder The Crescent Hotel! The staff were kind and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was unmatched. Conveniently located by all the best tourist attractions and restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location and service
The room was spacious and clean, i enjoyed the unlimited valet parking offered (with a price), the location was walking distance to many shops and restaurants, and a safe area to stay in. Service was great. The cafe downstairs was convenient!
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot, will definitely be back!
My 2nd stay at a Sonder location and once again this did not disappoint. The Crescent is blocks from Rodeo Drive, the famous Beverly Hills sign, lots of restaurants and a short drive from West Hollywood for anyone looking to go clubbing. Check in was simple, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was just like the photo: spacious, bed was big and comfy with lots of fluffy pillows and the TV had a every major streaming service so you can log in and watch from your account, plus Roku’s live TV feed for those looking for news, sports games, etc. I will definitely be staying here whenever I’m back in town for work events and leisure trips.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Location and Awesome Customer Service
I felt like a star. Thanks to Jasmine for helping us out. Perfect location. Loved staying in Beverly Hills and Sonder made us feel as if we lived there! Valet parking is a wonderful touch with in and out privileges for $35 per day. Make sure to eat dinner next door at Il Pastaio.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent location, friendly staff
I stayed for three nights. The location is very convenient, just a few blocks away from restaurants and Rodeo Drive. The room was small but clean. No USB ports so bring your wall charger. The building is old so it can get noisy at night; you can hear steps and conversations from the rooms above you. The staff was friendly and always willing to help.
Be the first to ReplyGreat find. Hotel has a personality
Great stay. I most likely will be returning. It’s located perfectly in Beverly Hills so that I can walk to the different places to eat and shop. The staff was extremely Hopeful, pleasant and willing to do anything to make my stay wonderful. , Strongly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE
DO NOT STAY HERE!!
I came to this place and it was a horror show. The photos they showed on the sight made it look completely idyllic but when I arrived, the space was so small I could barely walk around the bed, no closet, just a small cupboard that maybe a toddler could fit a week's worth of clothes in but certainly no adult. The bathroom was gross, a cement prison shower- with a steel thing in the middle that I nearly cut my foot on! No overhead light and NO AIR CONDITIONING.
These conditions are not only awful, but they're unsafe! I am a senior citizen and I'm honestly considering suing for elder abuse. The worst part about it, though, was the attitudes of the Sonder employees. They had ZERO empathy, refused to give us our money back... this is hands down the WORST travel experience of my life. One star is too generous!
Disappointing Stay
My husband and I had stayed at the Crescent twice over the past few years, finding it a nice location in Beverly Hills and enjoying the quirky rooms and decor. However, this time, was so disappointing, except for one of the helpful and friendly garage valets who we fondly remember from previous stays (sorry, never got your name but you are from Eastern Europe). Anyhow, no one at the front desk when we checked in - contact-less check in was lousy, no one to help us with luggage. We couldn’t get into our room, but thankfully one of the roaming staff helped us. TV relied on your own streaming service - is this the new way? Breakfast was minimal. What was once a charming quirky hotel is now annoying and run down. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyLove the location
A cute boutique hotel in a great location in Beverly Hills. I walked everywhere, 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Love the outdoor cafe full of luscious plants, and the food is great too. A friendly staff, a clean room but small, a comfy bed. I wish the cafe served breakfast. The room had a strong smell of possibly disinfectant or cleaning supply. I can't open the window to air out since there are no screens on the window. Overall I love the hotel. I'll be back!
