OLIVIA Tampa Reviews from The Last Year
As a frequent diner at Olivia Restaurant, I can confidently
As a frequent diner at Olivia Restaurant, I can confidently say it's a culinary gem that never disappoints. Having savored every dish on the menu, I recently indulged in the exquisite Agnolotti, and it was a revelation of flavors and textures. What truly sets Olivia apart, though, is the impeccable service provided by Rory, who goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. From recommendations to attentiveness, Rory's hospitality is unparalleled. Olivia Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional cuisine and outstanding service.
Olivia - A Culinary Gem in Tampa! Nestled in Tampa,
Olivia - A Culinary Gem in Tampa! Nestled in Tampa, Olivia's cozy atmosphere sets the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. This Italian restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience with a menu bursting with flavor. Starting with the Garlic Bread with olive oil makes it a perfect start. Great wine selections and full bar. My wife , Yessie and I were there own sunday and we recommend that you make reservations. Yessie, ordered the TORTIGLIONI in spicy alla vodka, roasted tomatoes, creme, chili. I ordered SQUID INK CASARECCE with shrimp, lobster brodo, fresno chili, soppressata salami & scallions. We both loved our dishes, they were delicious The staff goes above and beyond to ensure a seamless dining experience. They go over the dishes in a very detail manner. Our overall impression is that Olivia surpasses expectations with impeccable dishes and charming ambiance. Highly recommended!
With better kitchen execution Olivia could be great.
As it is mediocre food in a beautiful setting. The one standout was the rice ball, which was excellent. The very small pasta portions were allegedly homemade tagliatelle . It stuck together in a big gooey mess. The marinara sauce on my daughters food was watery. The vodka sauce on mine was pretty good. I was told that the meatballs were excellent. However, maybe they mean Tampa excellent because they were more like little mini hamburgers. A little more wet bread, some fresh parsley and garlic along with a little more grated cheese would've brought these meatballs up to spec. If I were the owners of this restaurant, I'd go to New York and find a couple of line cooks in some top Italian restaurants, and convince them to go to the sunshine of Tampa, to improve the execution of some very good Italian dishes. Clearly hear the menu is not the problem, It's the people cooking the food.
This was one of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever
This was one of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The only thing that was good about this place was their crude, brussels sprouts, and dessert other than that the pasta is so bland, lacks so much flavor. I will definitely not be coming back here, nor do I recommend a place.
Omg 10/10 every single thing I had was SOO good and fresh!
Omg 10/10 every single thing I had was SOO good and fresh! The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking and the pasta was simply delicious.
We reserved to have dinner at OLIVIA for my 30th birthday
We reserved to have dinner at OLIVIA for my 30th birthday and the whole experience was awful. We clearly mentioned to staff that one of the girls has a severe nut allergy. We were served our appetizers, one of them being the Chichetti tower. We verified with one of our waiters to make sure the whole tower was nut free. As soon as I bit into the pepper with goat cheese, I knew there were almonds in them. My friend had already eaten one and her cheeks started to swell. The management did take the right action to call the paramedics for my friends safety. Although this could have been a miscommunication within the kitchen and between waiters, it could have led to life threatening circumstances. While I understand accidents happen, OLIVIA had the audacity to give us the full check with no compensation until we asked for one. Only then did staff proceed to take just the appetizer off. I expect more from a higher end restaurant to own up to such a great mistake. This dinning experience was absolutely disappointing.
Went to OLIVIA for a friends birthday dinner.
I told the waiter I had a severe nut allergy. He reassured us that that I would be taken care of and he would point out which dishes had nuts. He did not make us aware that there were nuts in the Chichetti tower. He said it was perfectly fine. Well the red peppers had almonds stuffed in them so I was not able to see them properly and ended up consuming it. My face then started to swell, we asked the waiter and he doubled down and said the peppers didn't have nuts then realized his mistake and went to get peppers without nuts in them. EMS was called. Fortunately enough my airway was intact and I did not need to go to the hospital, however, my stomach was then very highly upset resulting in my need to vomit. I had to leave the restaurant early, and it turns out the restaurant only comped us for our appetizer which is absolutely ridiculous considering how much pain I endured because of THEIR mistake. Do not go here if you have a serious allergy.

Run don't walk to Olivia!! We absolutely loved it and it
Run don't walk to Olivia!! We absolutely loved it and it books up very fast, and with good reason! We ended up getting an early reservation and we loved everything we had. The garlic bread was the best garlic bread I have ever had, I think I could live on that for the rest of my life. All of the pastas were also to die for, and don't forget the espresso martini! Our entire experience was amazing and the place itself is beautiful. I would love to try every single thing on their menu.
Very good restaurant you should try.
I will preface this review with I rarely give 5. Overall, excellent experience. Great food. Service was good, albeit a little slow. We had carpaccio, different from what we've had before. It was delicious. I had my favorite, short ribs, and it was really good ( a little salty) but tasty. Grits ( polenta) were creamy and perfect for the dish. Two sauces that were outstanding. This is THE DISH. My wife had the scallops and they were also very good. The risotto was good and who doesn't like crispy prosciutto? The cost was not expensive. The whole " 15% added to tab" is not a problem but the way it's presented is a little offensive. If you eat out regularly, you know your tip is shared with the bussers, bartenders etc. Don't tell me "anything more than that is for me," which is what server said. We tip 20% at least. This is a " fancy" restaurant that shouldn't have servers saying that. This is a very good restaurant. Chris Ponte again did not disappoint.
Incredible Service and Fantastic Food
Brunch was Fantastic, with some creative offerings and excellent service by Jaxson and Kyle. Jaxson assisted us with what we ordered; very knowledgeable about the dishes and was a pleasure to have as our server. Our table started with Coccoli Fritto, which is their pizza dough made into a yummy bread, wrapped in prosciutto. What set it off was the fig jam and truffle honey. The arancini was incredible; a wonderful melding of flavors. I had the chicken & doughnut waffle. Lots of flavor with the ham, gravy and rosemary maple syrup. I also used the fig jam on this dish – very tasty. The doughnut waffle was fun and it created a unique taste. I tasted the scallops, paired perfectly with a lemony, creamy risotto. I also tasted the 24 hour Bolognese sauce, which was most impressive. We loved the cocktail and wine list. Creative offerings on both. Jaxson again, was very helpful with the cocktails. Kyle, the sommelier, was outstanding in assisting us with the Italian wines and the cocktails. The cocktails were perfect starters – so many flavors and beautiful presentations. Kyle helped us pair two whites and 2 reds with our meal. All were new wines for us, some varietals none of us had tried. He made the meal complete and such a treat. Dessert was also a pleasure. We shared apple butter cake and chocolate torte. Jaxson and Kyle contributed a joyful enthusiasm and insight to the food and beverages, which made our day perfect. You can tell they both love their jobs and are passionate about the restaurant they work at. We all loved eating at Chris’ Café Ponte in Clearwater and were sad when it closed. We finally made the trek to Tampa and are so glad we did.
My wife and I went to Olivia and ordered at the bar to take
My wife and I went to Olivia and ordered at the bar to take the food home as we have many times before. When presented with the check, the server informed me that " we add a 15% service charge for take-out." I thought that was odd since it's never happened before. I probably would have given 20% anyway.... Is this the process now, and shouldn't that be addressed before just adding it the check and then telling me about it? Not cool!
Great food, Great service.
OMG... what a great spot. Beautiful restaurant with great food. Saturday morning brunch with friends. The service was beyond excellent. The waiter and sommelier were super friendly and knowledgeable. When asked which prosecco I wanted, I asked the waiter what the difference was between the two. He said they are both good, I took the cheaper one... there was no pressure to get the most expensive. The food was very good, our friends and I decided we want to go back to just try every appetizer... the ones we tried were so delicious. They automatically added a 15% charge for service, no problem there... I gave extra because in this rare case, our waiter (Jaxson) and sommelier (Kyle "I think") deserved much more. They truly gave excellent service.
The worst service in the world!!
It took 25 minutes at our table to get a drink and over an hour for food. Absolutely ridiculous!! 2 hours for dinner in all. Literally no one was left in the restaurant when we left!!
Scalping people
The food was ok service also. The worse was the surprise %20 they added to my bill for the employees hostesses etc.!!!! Entree prices were high enough to have to pay that fee on top of the %20 tip.
Good italian in Tampa
This is definitely one of the best restaurants in town, despite being a bit noisy, something that you soon forget, because the service and mostly the food are by far the reason this restaurant is so good. If you go try everything on the menu and you won't be disappointed.
Awesome!
We live in Tampa and this is definitely one of the best restaurants in town! The food and drinks are just perfect every time. Great service as well. The yellowtail crudo appetizer is a MUST. Plenty of gluten free options for me, including lobster Mac n cheese! There’s a vegan menu as well if that’s your thing. Great selection of Italian and other wines, and one of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!!
Go now!
We had the most wonderful dining experience locally in a long time. We travel extensively but always seem to be disappointed locally. We went to Olivia for my 50 something birthday and were very happy with our experience. Our food was to die for....Fresh, unique, delicious! The service was why we would definitely return. Rory made us feel special and had all the skills of a master server. An A+ experience!
THE Italian spot in Tampa to visit
Excellent Italian fare for a competitive price. My girlfriend needs gluten free options and they have plenty and take great care in the preparation of those items. I was in love with the menu and found the house made angolloti to die for. I also had the chicken milenese and she had the halibut. I would go here once every two weeks if I lived in Tampa and try everything on the menu. Had a nice Sabina noir I’d recommend as well. Great date night spot or spot to just enjoy great Italian food prepared with care and respect to its origins.
Stick to appetizers and you will be fine!
We were looking forward to trying this place during our stay in Tampa. It was a busy Sat night and our reserved table was ready on arrival. The 4 of us ordered cocktails and appetizers. The Fritto Misto was delicious, the meatballs were tasty and the Burrata was excellent. The main courses and service were a disappointment. The tortiglioni with Vodka sauce was inedible. The sauce was very concentrated and red with no trace of cream whatsoever. It was sweet and tangy and not edible. The veal chop parmigiana was heavily breaded and overcooked. The breading was burned and then covered with tomato sauce and cheese. The server made one appearance immediately after the food was delivered and asked how does your food look? Nobody ever came back to see if we were happy with the food. The server brought our check and announced that there is a new policy that a %15 tip is being added to all guest checks and that money gets shared with all the servers, bartenders, and other staff....but if we leave anything extra - she gets all of that. We should have stuck to appetizers and left and it would have been a far better experience.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
