Opus 9 Steakhouse Williamsburg Reviews
We went here for a late lunch on our 35th anniversary.
1. I ordered the grilled tuna sandwich as medium well. (I know most people don't order tuna streaks that way but i really don't like raw fish.) What i got was medium rare with a raw middle. Opus 9 should ask the folks at Barrets how to do tuna steak as medium well. 2. I ordered the pasta salad as the side. I got potato salad. It had lots of onions which i can't eat. At this point you may ask, why not bring it to the waitress's attention? That brings us to number 3. 3. The waitress dropped off our food and we never saw her again. Well, not until we had been finished for 14 minutes and were waiting on the check. Very poor service. It was a Monday afternoon and there weren't that many customers. 4. While I'm at it, the dinner rolls were dried out and hard. Like they were a few days old. The only reason I give it two stars rather than one is because the ambiance and interior were very nice. Shame that the service was not up to par.

As a regular patron pre-Covid, this restaurant maintained a solid 3.5+ before COVID by this reviewer. However, since COVID, I've stopped by on 2 occasions to recapture the pre COVID experience only to be disappointed by the absence of the Bar Menu, inflated prices, and a noticeable decline in service and quality. The ambiance has improved considerably however dining out is more a combination of many variables not just aesthetics....
Disappointing Lunch
Ordered from the lunch menu and ordered the shrimp salad on a croissant. The salad was sparse and uneventful in flavor. And the roll was not a croissant. It looked like a burger roll with some twists of dough on top. I love croissants and was disappointed that it was billed as such, but not flaky and buttery as a croissant should be. As usual the ambience and service was excellent, but we also do come there for the food!!!
This is usually such a marvelous restaurant.
But went here with a group of ladies for lunch and ordered off the Special Lunch menu . Unfortunately I ordered the shrimp salad sandwich on a croissant. But the croissant turned out to be a blah hamburger-style roll. No flavor or character to the salad or the roll. The other ladies seemed pleased with their selections, but I felt for such an upscale place my choice should be at least yummy!!!
No more Buffet please..
This restaurant is usually one of our favorites... The service and the food quality is usually top notch. We chose to go there to celebrate Fathers' Day. Our reservation was at 2:15 so we were hoping to have a "late lunch". We had never experienced a "Brunch Buffet".. I think we could have had the same menu at I-Hop.. There was no option for choosing from the regular menu. You could have an omelet, some wings, ribs, a cauliflower casserole and some desserts. I'm not sure if it was the timing of our reservation but I was truly disappointed. I was hoping to order a filet mignon or scallops.. I hope the buffet idea was a one-time thing..
Good foods but a little more money like $50 for a steak dish that is a lot to me. Sorry
We went there to celebrate my birthday ๐ Yes food was good but Jeez expensive. This was my second time after probably 10 years, I was in a bridal party. Good foods!
Went with six people for dinner.
All the dishes were very good. Several people had the hanger steak, which was delicious. Others had the bistro steak and enjoyed it. Desserts were good except we didn't like the chocolate tort. It was too dry. Maybe it should've been served ala mode to help moisten it. Would recommend this place even if it's pricey.
Great place for a date night
This was a first class 5 star restaurant. The food is phenomenal and our waiter was so personable. We got the steak and lobster and it was to die for. I donโt think Iโve ever had lobster so good. I highly recommend this place for a classy night out.
I am sorry to say I've only been to Op.
91 time my friend took me for my birthday. We got the lunch menu me and him shared the French onion soup which was phenomenal, but both of us were sick. The next day both ends so Food was good. It wasn't as stuffy as everybody made it to be, but the only thing me and my friend shared was the French onion soup, and we were both sick
We had a fantastic dinner at Opus 9.
We were celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary in Williamsburg and decided to splurge a little with a fun night at a higher end steakhouse. We started with an order of the calamari, which was cooked to perfection. The salad with blue cheese dressing was just right. My wife enjoyed a wonderful 8oz filet and I went with an aged New York strip cooked to a perfect medium rare. Dessert was wonderful and a perfect finish to a great dining experience. Our waiter, Fredo, was incredible. He brought the whole evening together for us with outstanding service worthy of a top end steakhouse. He made the evening perfect for us with his excellent attentive service. The experience and ambiance of the evening as a whole was wonderful and I would highly recommend this restaurant for a great evening out.
We had a wonderful family dinner last night at Opus.

Party of eleven
Walking into Opus 9, I was immediately greeted by a friendly host. The lunch experience was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was a masterpiece, perfectly balanced in flavor and presented with a touch of elegance. But what truly set this dining experience apart was the service. Fredo, had an eye for detail and anticipated our every need. His recommendations was spot-on, enhancing our meal with pairings that delighted our taste buds. The attentiveness and genuine care displayed by our server transformed a great lunch into an unforgettable experience.
A server who canโt read his audience
Our evening would have been very nice if our server Fredo had not constantly try to upsell us . We had 4 adults and 3 children in our party so the server should have realized we werenโt there to eat enormous amounts of food . Our total bill was $575.00 and if it had been up to him we would have spent hundreds more on a Monday evening. Once we were served my daughter in law asked to have a steak sauce brought out because her 8 ounce filet was dry and the waiter said no that wasnโt possible. She needed to have ordered earlier. And if you are going bring a complimentary dessert please do so before 5 desserts have already been ordered and consumed. Sadly I will not recommend Opus 9 to any of my friends and I used to be a loyal patron .
excellent dinner; outstanding service from Jenelle.
We would return if assured she would be assigned to our table!

Shortly after I ate their "Salad Nicoise", I had a stomach ache and diarrhea. I talked to the manager Tyler, and he said that food poisoning is not common in his restaurant and there's nothing he could do. My wife and I visited Opus 9 Steakhouse three times in the past few weeks. We are very disappointed by how the manager handled this incident. Frank L.
The food and service is spectacular.
I have my grandchildren come with me also so they can enjoy the food. I love that the staff still caters to the children,
Save Your Money
We were a party of 6 that went for a birthday celebration. We have been to Opus 9 in the past & enjoyed the food & ambience. The food last night was poorly seasoned & average at best. The steak had zero flavor as did the ceaser salad. The salmon was very sweet & the rice under the sea bass was mushy. Finally, there was something extremely foul tasting in my brotherโs ribeye as if the meat had not been cut/cleaned properly!! We will not be returning to Opus 9 & do not recommend it to others!
Salad Nicoise with Ahi Tuna.
Ahi Tuna was served like a flat pancake, No seasoning, no taste. Fresh green beans were missing from the dish. Three green olives with pimento was displayed on the plate along with three grape tomatoes slice in half. One of my friends had the shrimp tacos. Shrimp was overdone and very salty. The chef working the seafood and fish station, clearly lacked experience for "fine dining". Drinks and bread were adequate. Beautiful restaurant.

We finally tried Opus 9 last week for date night - oh boy what a treat! We had the peppered scallops appetizer, they were very good. I had the seafood trio for dinner and it did not disappoint, even the little salad on the plate was tasty. It was so much food I couldn't finish the crab cake. I had the garlic mashed for my side, I enjoyed them. The tiramisu for dessert was excellent, the sauce was a nice addition. We will definitely be back.
Birthday lunch.
Celebrated a birthday at lunch today. Our server, Sydney did a great job! I got the Thai dish and my sister got the heavenly chicken pot pie! Dessert was key lime pie. Everything was awesome!
Pretentious
Have dined here a few times and found the staff to be mostly pretentious to the point of arrogance. On our last visit had to return a steak to the kitchen that appeared to have been prepared at Golden Corral. The quality of the food, the service and the prices donโt warrant the attitude.
Amazing Dining Experience
Go here if you love delicious food, wonderful ambience, and amazing service! This steakhouse checked all the boxes. What else is there to say? This was our first time at Opus 9 and we would go back in a heartbeat!
Top Rated
A top rated steakhouse. Ambiance and service is excellent. The steaks are well prepared and tasty. While expensive, I believe that the quality of the experience makes it worthwhile.
