Before I begin I'd like to preface this with I NEVER write
Before I begin I'd like to preface this with I NEVER write reviews and I NEVER tip under 15%. I used to work in the restaurant industry as a waiter and bartender. I have great respect for those who work in the service industry. However, I can say without a doubt this was the WORST service experience of my life. This was a special restaurant booked for my best friends birthday. The food was decent but underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant. Especially coming from my friend who is from Tampico, Tamaulipas, MX and lives in Austin, TX. But the real kicker was the service. We had the 3 different servers over the course of our meal. The first was extremely pleasant and nice. The second was rude and condescending but nothing near as infuriating as the 3rd server. And had the it just been the first two servers I wouldn't have been angry enough to write a review or leave such a poor tip. Now to the 3rd server: the blonde, flamboyant server with glasses. He could not have been more rude and condescending if he was a prison guard at a maximum security prison. The first server misheard me and brought the wrong drink. Which I drank and didn't say anything because I'm terrified to send things back. But when I ordered a second drink I made sure that she was sending the correct drink over in a very polite manner. However, when the 3rd server asked if I wanted another drink which I said yes and specified the correct order. I then watched the bartender make the wrong drink 15 ft away from me. When he brought it over I specified if it was the correct drink and asked for the correct one very politely. He very rudely rolled his eyes and walked away. Up until this point everything was fine with me. I then watched and listened to him and the bartender complain and roll their eyes about me while I started directly at them to make them aware I could hear them. I do not complain often. But ridiculing me and complaining about me while I am in earshot and within eyesight is unacceptable. At the very least have the courtesy to go into the back room and complain. We were all severely disappointment with this restaurant. And while everything else (the food, location, presentation, timing of the course's) was all very poor, it was the service in the end that brought me to write this review. I am absolutely certain that you can find a better Mexican restaurant in the city and am completely perplexed how they obtained a Michelin star.

Great creative menu. Their drinks are amazing and the service is on Par.

I am happily able to say I have been here twice for their Michelin star experience. We tried I believe all their tacos!! Believe it or not my fav was the beet tacos.. my least fav was the lamb, a little too gamey for me. Drinks were good and they offered diff types of tequila for the margaritas. If you can get a reservation, give it a try!!

The appetizers were good, but the entrees were disappointing for Michelin restaurant. The chips and salsa appetizer and guacamole were great to try. The variety of salsas offered were great from mild to spicy. The homemade chips were perfectly crisp and delicious. The service was slow and the tacos were mediocre. Swordfish tacos were the best and the maitake mushroom tacos were disappointing as they had an extremely burt taste. The drinks are batch made, so changes are not easy to make.

An amazing meal, I can absolutely see why this place has a Michelin star. We ordered a ton of stuff off the menu and pretty much everything was an absolute knock out. Another wordy review you ask? Yes- Here's what I got and also what I recommend: - Chips and Salsa: Not your typical run of the mill salsa & sauces. This is a fine curated selection of 6 different sauces to suit your taste buds. Each vary in texture, composition and taste. The darkest green being the mildest and then counter clockwise until you get to the most heat. My friend and I both seemed to favor the third salsa which felt more like a glaze. Pro tip is to make sure to save some of the salsas for adding to eat plate you get during your meal to customize each dish. (Highly recommend) - Mango with lime: While I enjoyed this snack in its execution and simplicity, this isn't a "must get". It was definitely delicious and I'm glad we ordered this for the table, but if you're looking at your budget and need to cut down somewhere, start here. I agree that these are better than the TJ version (by far). This would be a good option if you wanted to pop in and sit at the bar, have a snack and a drink as opposed to adding onto a full meal. (Good, not do or die.) - SOYA MARINATED TUNA TOSTADA: this was incredibly well seasoned, fresh and bright. I loved the addition of the radish to add some additional texture and softer crunch to the light tuna. A hint of spice but toned down with the avocado/radish combo. (Highly recommend) - SWEET POTATO TLAYUDA: Here's where things get tricky- if you ask me, this was good but not mind blowing BUT if you asked my friend who joined me for dinner, they'd mention that this was one of their favorite parts of the meal. Don't get me wrong, it was creamy and mild in flavor and was a nice contrast for our courses because this was more subdued, but I would have preferred a bit more salt or cheese-y flavor to elevate this. (Good, not do or die.) - LAMB BARBACOA TACOS: As soon as you bite into this your taste buds tingle. I loved the bbq styled meat. It was almost like pulled pork but not that flavor. Paired with the 3rd (glaze like) salsa, this was amazing. -SWORDFISH TACOS: This was the table favorite. I had never had swordfish before and I am so glad that this was my first experience. The texture was so unique- a cross between really moist/tender chicken and almost haloumi like (but not flavor wise). These had a beautiful smoky grilled char on them. Mixed with the creamy labneh and onions, this was a masterpiece. (Highly recommend, a must order.) - Carrot Cake: In theory this sounded like a nice way to round out this stand out meal but this was the only item we ordered that I wish we didn't. The cake was dry- something I found odd because I feel like that's a sure-fire win with carrot cake. The mole topping was good and the dollop of cream made it better but I'd definitely pass on this or go with a different dessert selection. Drinks: I got the Mariachi, which I loved even though I'm not a huge mezcal fan. It was very refreshing. My friend got the guava marg and this was more mild in flavor but they ordered two, so I think they enjoyed it. Service was amazing. I didn't catch our server's name, but she was so friendly and personable. She offered feedback on our selections when asked and also provided her opinions on what to try from the menu. My friend had even accidently spilled salsa on his white shirt and she brought over a tide to go pen- that was so sweet. Overall ambiance is great. I love the airy, tall ceilings, beige/creamy scenery mixed with green plants. Very clean borderline boho. They offer a decent amount of seating both inside and in their (for now, covered) patio, including round booth seating for larger parties. The bathroom was also super cute (random) because there is a mini disco ball inside- lol, it's the little things. A great meal at a great restaurant. 4.7/5

Lovely atmosphere, good service, and fun experience sitting at the chef's counter. The food is amazing! The smoky tomatoes add a unique flavor to the guacamole. The smoked trout and tuna tostada were really interesting. The smoked trout tostada was a fun plan on lox and cream cheese and the tuna tostada really married Asian and Mexican flavors so well. The tacos were some of the best tacos I have ever had. Perfectly cooked lamb and swordfish, the sauces brunch everything together, and the corn tortilla is incredibly well-made.

Great vibe and ambience - Super Great Creative Menu and dishes - Friendly and professional service . All ingredients fresh. Looking forward to next visit if I can score a reservation. My only complaint- useless and unanswered phone system protocols. Hire someone for the front- or get your phone system working for customers.
Be the first to ReplyThis place gets pretty crowded.
Came here for brunch, and I liked the ambiance, service, and the food. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the food is tasty, so it's worth it. The tacas were delicious but super oily, so if you're watching your waste or trying to be healthy, this may not be a good option. If you're looking for taste, then this is sooooo worth it. I got the lamb and steak taco, and they were both delicious. The steak taco was the best. The tuna tostada was delicious. You get a lot of tuna! I couldn't have dessert because I was full but they looked really good
Be the first to ReplyIt's fine if you want to over pay for 2 tacos.
Better tacos in the neighborhood elsewhere. Nice spot for a special date though & I enjoyed my cocktail.
Be the first to ReplyMy real rating is 4.
5 but that's not an option. My friend and I came here since we love checking out upscale restaurants but Greenpoint doesn't have many open on a Tuesday. I kept my expectations low since I'm a foodie and I've never heard of Oxomoco. I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality and the creative spin on Mexican food. We got the chips and salsa, the soya marinated tuna tostada, and the grilled maitake tacos. The chips and salsa was a spread of different salsa and house made chips that you break apart. I really enjoyed the tasting aspect of this since the salsas ranged from mild to spicy. The soya marinated tuna tostada was an absolute winner. It's the item I would come back here for. It's best shared between two people. I think it's too small to shared with 3-4 people. The maitake tacos were good but I probably wouldn't get them again unless I was with a vegetarian. I only say that because of all the dishes we tried, it was the most forgettable. It was still executed to perfection and I wouldn't turn it down. Overall I would definitely come back to Oxomoco for the unique Mexican food!

What's not to say that everyone else has covered? Except- I actually recommend coming here and eating alone. Come as soon as they open, sit at the bar, order a drink and a meal. The hostess and my bartender were so warm and friendly. I got special attention because it didn't get so busy at that bar yet (give it 30 mins and it will). Michelin star restaurants can sometimes give a pretentious vibe but this restaurant felt very homey. You can tell the staff enjoys working there and enjoys who they work with. At least the staff I witnessed. And of course the food is one of the best meals I've had this year. I can't wait to go back and try something new.

Honestly I don't think I can put into words how amazing this place is. The staff is wonderful, friendly and informative, as soon as you walk into the place you feel relaxed and joyful. It's bright, clean and beautiful. I wish I took more photos of my food but everything was absolutely delicious. These are the beet "chorizo" tacos pictured and even if you enjoy meat in tacos, you will LOVE these. Extremely flavorful! We just stumbled upon this place randomly for brunch and I am so thankful! We will be back during the summer for the patio!
Be the first to ReplySuperb.
Each dish had depth of flavor, from the mango/peanuts snacks to the entrees to the flourless chocolate cake dessert to even the espresso. awesome people & service. Really enjoyed sitting at chefs counter.

We ordered the tuna tostada (so delicious!!), lamb and swordfish tacos for 2 people. I came on a Monday night and was able to get seated immediately without a reservation. Service was great and aesthetic was really cute. I wouldn't come back again because the food seemed a bit underwhelming for the price - prefer getting authentic street tacos!
Be the first to ReplyRun of the mill Mexican food with interesting condiments
Run of the mill Mexican food with interesting condiments (dipping sauces) that add more value to the food than anything else. Flank steak tacos is the dish of choice but overall place has a Michellin Star which is a little hard to believe. $17 a dish. 3.25/5 stars as a lunch spot.
Be the first to ReplyIt's the perfect spot to grab some micheladas and share
It's the perfect spot to grab some micheladas and share dishes with your group, which allows you to sample a variety of options. I was thoroughly impressed with all the tacos we tried, including the vegetarian ones. However, the standout dish for me was the punta verde cesar - a unique and flavorful creation that I had never tasted before. It consisted of grilled lettuce with Caesar dressing, and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Mexican food and a fun atmosphere to share with friends.Price: $60 (one drink, tip included).

My friend and I came here for dinner and ended up with the conclusion that Oxomoco is trendy, yummy, a lil overpriced but still worth a visit. +black sesame horchata: yum! Loved this delicious drink and thought it was a fun mix of cultures+salsas: really recommend getting the salsas. Good variety and fun to share+mango with chili: nice palate cleanser to have on the side and snack on but not a necessity+tuna tostada: my friend's favorite! Really fantastic tuna with this delicious marinade, creamy avo, and on top of this crunchy tostada. Must get. +Caesar: a must! Smoky and crunchy and creamy and salty. Such an amazing salad+sweet potato: biggggg miss for us. Not sure if it was the sweet potato or maybe the odd textures+lamb tacos: I'm def not saying anything new when I tell you these are bombbbb. I liked adding the salsas on top :)+chocolate cake: super heavy cake but really delicious. Definitely recommend getting to at least tryWould love to come back and try some other things. I think I left the meal feeling a bit out of sorts bc of alllll the tortilla we ate but that's on us lmao. Our server was attentive, kind, and quick. Enjoyed how nice the space felt as well!
Be the first to ReplyI have been eyeing this spot for quite some time and today
I have been eyeing this spot for quite some time and today I finally got to try! Right off the bat, I was surprised by how relaxed the place was. The interior was beautiful and reminded me of the restaurants I visited during a trip to Mexico City. My expectations for the food were very high, everything was delicious but I'd personally give it a 4.5/5. We started off with the chilaquiles, which I absolutely loved! Then I tried the grilled celeriac tacos which I enjoyed very much, but didn't wow me. My partner got the arrachera flank steak tacos, which I tried and liked. For drinks I got the guava margarita with added spice and it was amazing. Finally for dessert I got the carrot cake, which was tasty.Service was great overall and our server was very helpful and attentive.

3.5 stars. I expected better to be honest. Didn't try anything with meat bc vegetarian. Cute place though and good horchata
Be the first to ReplyAll of the food, the drinks, the sauces, 10/10.
But our server, John B was a 15/10, a gracious perfectionist who made sure we had the best dining experience I've had in years!
Be the first to ReplyService, fantastic.
Cocktails, delicious. Ambiance, so nice. Food however, tasteless. Shrimp tacos need seasoning. The chicken was incredibly dry. They have so much opportunity to make this place a home run, but the food was like eating paper- tasteless. Especially as a Latina, I was just expecting so much more.
Be the first to ReplySurprised this place received a Michelin Star.
Even after booking a reservation, the table was not ready. Beautifully decorated interior. Prices are higher than your average taco shop, but the tacos were all unique. We started with a fried tortilla with several dipping sauces, which was flavorful and went well with the tacos as well. Each order of taco comes with 2 servings. 3 tacos per person was fulfilling. The arrachera flank steak taco was the showstopper with charred thinly sliced steak, cubed cheese and salsa which all paired perfectly. Flavors were smoky and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyMexican restaurant in Greenpoin Brooklyn.
Very nice looking restaurant a lot of seating area outside that's also looking very inviting. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Some choice of different vine and small amount of house cocktails. Food we got was not that positive. Peanuts is just peanuts nothing spectacular. Pints Verde Caesar salad with no flavor and very little dressing that I have to ask for more it was very dry. Oxomoco Guacamole was just avocado no lime no seasoning and Soya Marinated Tuna Tostada was not bad but super small and looking super lonely on big plate not even any garnish just boring. For price they charge you can find something much better in the neighborhood.
Be the first to ReplyI am so sad to give this place 2 stars.
My sister has been talking about this place for weeks and we finally went with a small group. The waitstaff were all really nice, however we had 4 different ones. It seemed disorganized and a little chaotic. We ordered the chicken... 44$ for half of a chicken and it was really, really dry. No one finished the piece they took from the plate. The skin was soggy. The rice that came with it was just spicy and so oily. The chips that came with the 17$ salsas were stale. The whole table was disappointed and noticed the same things. The rest of the dishes we received were... not great. The entire meal was really disappointing. Definitely not Michelin star tasting. It wasn't worth it for the price, it wouldn't be worth it for half the price.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has a nice little vibe.
Not your typical Mexican spot, the food elevated. The gauc is amazing, the smoked tomatoes is a nice twist. I had the Lamb Barbacoa tacos. Surprisingly filling! I also ordered the frozen Paloma because of course, it was a typical hot summer afternoon.
