Delicious, fresh, authentic.
We ordered a Turkish coffee, baklava, gyro and chicken salad.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a spanakopita falafel plate and some baklava.
There's a small patio surrounded by beautiful greenery. The spanakopita and tabouleh was delicious, some of the best I've had. The hummus and falafel was also great. We enjoyed the baklava enough to buy a box to share with friends later. Really enjoyed our experience and the owner was so nice.
Be the first to ReplyGreat local spot with authentic eats.
The owner really cares about the food he puts out. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

The cafe has a little outside seating area that is the cutest ever. This cafe is a staple to the local community and you can tell the owner is passionate about his food. Personally, he makes the best Garlic Chicken plate I've had coming from someone who grew up eating Lebanese food. Also the baklava is amazing. Give it a try! It won't disappoint.
Be the first to ReplyLocal mom and pop halal place.
Seating is tight, parking is all street based. The food is yummy and the cook is great person to chat with.

We ate here yesterday and got the garlic chicken and baklava, it was so delicious! I would highly recommend. There's a small patio to sit and enjoy the downtown view. It was authentic food with such great hospitality!

I walked up to their to-go counter for lunch and decided to stay and enjoy my meal on their patio. Everything sounded delicious. The friendly man at the window helped me pick the spanakopita plate that had a bit of everything. The food was really delicious. Spanakopita tasted homemade. Falafel was flavorful and not dry. The humus was creamy. Dolma was tasty. Tabbouleh was citrusy. Pita was good. I would definitely eat here again when visiting Monterey. They have so many flavors of baklava it's worth to take some home with you!

Great flavor, FRESH ingredients, the chef recognized me after 1 yr of not visiting! Amazing service, this is always a go to spot in Monterey.
Be the first to ReplyTake out only spot with a little patio if you need it.
Excellent baklava. I had the gyro greek salad which was tasty and different than ordinary fast food Mediterranean fare. As the name suggests, lots of paprika! Partner enjoyed her wrap. Definitely authentic and has a Michelin recommendation from 2019. Would have liked to try more! We ordered dolmas and did not receive them - oh well!

In this cute, tucked away location you'll find the food Yummy! My favorites are, tabouli, hummus and the baklava
Be the first to ReplyThe food was incredible and all homemade fresh.
Flavors were unreal. The owner was very friendly and made the experience wonderful. The meal made our day! Would definitely recommend. There is no indoor seating but a fun patio.

I like to search for falafel restaurant and enjoy some. Paprika is a nice small restaurant with limited outdoor seating. You will make your order from the window and wait till it's ready. I am not a very big fan when using Greek bread for falafel sandwiches. However it was still delicious.
Be the first to ReplyDry falafels, flavorless gyro, honestly really disappointed.
Limited seating and inside shop is closed.

will work for vegan baklava! my friends and i were driving home from lunch when one of them announced a sign reading Vegan Baklava. i immediately turned the wheel to the right and parked. what a rare treat!! i went a little bonkers and got one of each kind of baklava, but i'm so glad i did. Apricot, Coffee Walnut, Cashew, Pistachio, Walnut flavors all handmade. while we waited for some tea, the owner gave us a few samples of fresh baklava he was making. amazing. 10/10. can't say enough nice things and can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.
Be the first to ReplyThis place and it's owner are the real deal.
The owner is a tough, hilarious, and friendly dude who runs the place himself. He told me "I know how I cook, I don't know how anyone else cook. That's why I do it myself." Reminds me of my Iranian dad haha. I love it. My girlfriend is vegan so of course we bought some fresh made baklava (among other things) and let me tell you, that it was among the best I've ever had. He even threw in an extra box of baklava on the house after I expressed my gratitude to him for being genuine and running an honest business. Great guy. Would recommend to my vegan and non vegan friends.

Quick take: whole-in-wallJust like a few other Yelpers I believe the whole-in-the wall is the best way to describe this cafe. We walked to the Cafe from the aquarium. Upon arrival it took a minute to take in the ambience of the exterior esthetics. Looks like a one man operation. It was order st the window only. We did not go into the establishment. The garlic chicken plate was the popular choice by fellow Yelpers. We ordered that to try. The gentleman was kind enough to give us 2 pieces of baklava. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The garlic sauce and rice were very good. The hummus was not smoothly blended. It was a very lumpy texture. Also got 4 pieces of pita bread. Definitely had better but it wasn't the worse. Gotta try if you are spending the day in Monterey.
Be the first to ReplyI left this hole-in-the-wall thinking a single, bamboozling
I left this hole-in-the-wall thinking a single, bamboozling question:How does a restaurant with practically no seasoning in its kitchen name itself after a spice as glorious as Paprika? Now, I know that sounds harsh. But it isn't nearly as harsh as the $25 per shawarma platter (after taxes, I admit) the owner/chef/comedian-in-chief is charging his unsuspecting, largely non-Arab and non-Desi customer base. The meat was of good quality but so lacking in flavor that I had to drown each bite in the delicious sauce that came with the meal. If there's a saving grace of this place, that sauce is it.So, if you're a halal-compliant Muslim who enjoys at least a speck or two of salt and pepper in her food, I would encourage you to support this business by ordering nothing more than falafels and a soda.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was phenomenal.
We got the garlic chicken combo and shawarma combo with 2 spicy lemonades. While everything was great, the highlights were the sauce that came with the garlic chicken and the spicy lemonades. The owner was very friendly and kind to us.There is also a patio that was very cute at night. We were the only people there so we had a wonderful date spot.

Stop and eat here! Ignore the no bathroom sign & the no indoor seating. The food is amazing! Everything fresh, one cook prepares all the food. The flavors are so good. Their is a tiny private patio you can sit at or order take out. You order at the window and he prepares the food. We are so glad we stopped and will be back. Delicious and affordable! Thank you so much
Be the first to ReplyA one man show!! He serves wonderful food.
Window service only. Don't let that dissuade you. He is a master of his domain!!!
Be the first to ReplyThis evening my family and I enjoyed this restaurant.
We ordered the garlic chicken, Kufta kebab, and the gyros . Everything was so tasty and the food was prepared like a family kitchen. I really appreciate the effort of the owner putting in his personal touch and of course the free baklava!. Thanks for hosting us!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, wonderful atmosphere.
Lovely service, highly recommend going and sitting in the lovely outdoor seating area!! Nice smells
Be the first to ReplyFive stars because this spot is perfect for what it is.
What is it? A slamming hole in the wall Mediterranean joint with delicious homemade food. They are Michelin rated and it's well deserved. We tend to get the combo plates of garlic chicken and beef shawarma. Every thing is cooked perfectly and the sides of rice salad and hummus could not be better prepared. This is a a one man take out show at the moment and he revealed his secrets to us: "No one touches my food, I am the only one who cooks. " We will certainly be comming here in the regular as I can never get enough solid Mediterranean food! Quick tip: if you spend 40 bucks or more you get a free 11 piece baklava box! Homemade and some of the best I have had!
Be the first to Reply4 stars for food + 1 star for service making it 5 starsBb
4 stars for food + 1 star for service making it 5 starsBb and I approach to see if this little shop is open. The front entrance is closed and no indoor dining is available, and all tables and chairs stowed away.. but yes it was open, whoo! Ordering is via the restaurant window.. which is essentially a big takeout window haha how innovative owners get since COVID-19Owner takes our order and he is a sweet man (the 5-star review). He asks if we're dining in, when we said yes, he prepped the table on the patio with a cute tablecloth. Thankfully we were the only parties dining in because it's a pretty tight space and tables aren't very big either (can seat 2 parties of 2 comfortably-ish, but after that you're pushing it lol) string lights were hung up and lit up already and the sun was going down too so it made atmosphere here romantic and intimate We ordered the combo plates since it came with rice, salad, pita bread and hummus: Chicken and Kafta combo plates - wow, the chicken is delicious! tender and flavorful, it totally stole the show here and I highly recommend. The Kafta was ok, good for variety but it stood out the least among the 3 meats.Lamb kebab combo plate - Bb and I typically like lamb a lot so we ordered this dish and thought the lamb here was alright, pretty standard The dish got us full but I can see how for the price point, you would want the portion a little bigger but I also understand it being Michelin star that pricing may a bit higherSolid "cheaper" Michelin star eats so I'd say check it out at least once - keep in mind though that since seating is limited, it may be more of a to-go spot
