Unmatched experience
I’ve stayed here twice and each time the experience somehow gets better. My favorite place to stay when coming to San Diego!

While on a business trip, we stayed at the Pendry and was very delighted at all of the little touches. The doorman, bellman, maid staff & all of the rest of the front desk staff were very welcoming and accommodating. I'm now a fan of the Pendry and will have to seek out other Pendry's in other cities. 100/100
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful Pendry!
The Pendry San Diego is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of San Diego. My sister and I checked in for a quick night away and were greeted by the excellent bell and front office staff right away. Quartz checked us in and was very kind and efficient while also placing us in a gorgeous room up on the 12th floor. The room was spotless, and I loved the unique decor and wallpaper. Since we arrived later in the evening and headed straight to Fifth and Rose for a quick bite. Trevor was our bartender, and he was excellent. Very knowledgeable on the menu and the hotel. We were only there for a short time, but I will definitely be back to Pendry San Diego soon! Thank you, Pendry!

We had a wonderful stay. Service was excellent. We would definitely recommend the Penney and stay here again.
Be the first to ReplyHave a back up plan
This hotel over books reservations, even prepaid ones and then turn away guests with no real place to go. Suggest having a back up reservation if you book here. Their desire to have a 100% capacity leaves their customers hanging because of this practice. I was one of a number of folks that were turned away with a pre-paid reservation. They need to watch Seinfeld, the hard part is holding the reservation.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional Customer Service
The welcome we received at this hotel when we first drove up set the stage for an amazing time my husband and I shared that weekend. They treated us like we were VIP's the entire time. I have not experienced anything close to the level of customer service we did since well before Covid. One person I would like to call out in particular is David Dufort. He continually went out of his way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. From the comfort of our room, to our daily experiences to dinner at Lionfish, he was checking in with us and handling every detail for us personally. He made us feel like special guests and because of that we can't wait to return! The property is impeccable and the rooms are very comfortable with well appointed amenities. I just can't say enough about the customer service. It felt like the "old days" when everyone made it a point to know your name and would continually check in with you to make sure you were having a great time. Thank you to everyone at The Pendry and especially Mr. Dufort for such a memorable experience. We'll most certainly be back!
Be the first to ReplyNot Very often!
Not very often when you stay at a hotel does that hotel actually hit all of its marks. Located within walking distance of PETCO Park, there's a breakfast spot right across the street from the Pendry of San Diego. This hotel begs your attention and welcomes you with the warmth of a fireplace upon entry. There's a nice little suprise for you once you check in, but you have to ask for it! Check out the attached sports bar, or if you're looking for a little more personable experience, there's a cocktail bar on the opposite side. Amenities are nice! For convenience, you've got a snack bar and a full alcohol stock with assorted options. The refridgerator is also stocked with juice, soda, and wine/champagne as well as beer. Room is spacious and the shower in the middle of the room is a pleasant change. I felt like it was a good way to break up the monotony of hotel rooms. Overall stay and experience-9.5/10
Be the first to ReplyGreat Staff
Stayed at Pendry with friends and it was the 2nd time here. Nice rooms, staff is nice but the standout interaction was with Damon. I was later told that he’s Assistant Director of Security. My wife and I saw him a couple of times once while he was speaking with a homeless couple outside of the property - he was friendly and cordial - treated this couple like they were human and even made them smile. Honestly the smoothest, most respectful and professional homeless interaction we’ve seen. (My wife and I have seen it too often where the homeless are treated badly, roughed up, or talked down to.) the next day we saw Damon helping to load a vehicle with luggage while giving advice over the radio to a colleague. Later we were heading to the Phillies game and he was on his way home and I believe kept us from harm as we were accosted by 3 intoxicated Padres fans. Damon walked up, asked if he could help and the 3 decided to walk away. The Pendry has good staff but really chose extremely well with this hire. We loved our visit.

Charming, classic hotel with an excellent gym and several dining options on site. Staff was friendly and rooms with everything you need.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Experience
The hotel is wonderful. The room felt luxurious, modern and very clean. The bathrobe was so soft, I wanted to take one home but I did not have room in my luggage. The gym was fully stocked, clean and had a diverse amount of equipment. The pool was spectacular with ample seating. The fireplace in the lobby was so welcoming. The bar is a very happening place. I enjoyed my stay.
Be the first to ReplyDaughter’s 18th (debut)
We chose to have a debut party at the pool house (2 cabanas and pool-suite). The goal was to have it fun with the view and nut a typical wall to wall debut party. It was a success!!! All staff were very accommodating, respectful and excellent service. Place is so clean and the pool view is amazing. We had a blast!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience hosting event
My organization hosted a Gala recently at Pendry San Diego and everything was top notch! I would highly recommend choosing the hotel for your next event! Our guests were blown away by the atmosphere, food and service. And of course the location in the heart of the Gaslamp is incredible. Thank you Pendry!
Be the first to ReplyIncredible people and amenities
The people at this hotel were so kind and friendly. Nathan went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable. He let us know about amenities, like a crib, microwave, and sound machine!, that were available to us that made our stay so enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyElegant and comfortable!
Beautiful place with amazing staff! We stayed for the first time at Pendry, it was for my birthday. We had a corner room with amazing view of the city! We were impressed and felt welcome! We’ll definitely try other locations now! Elegant designs throughout the building, multiple options to dine, located centrally downtown with access to many other places to enjoy.

I was overcharge for valet parking and EV charging even though I didn't use them. I asked them to remove the charge from the folio. Once they removed it I paid and left. Then they charged me after I left without any notice or emails. I randomly saw the charges when I was checking my CC account online.

I stay at the Pendry SD whenever possible, probably 5 stays over the past decade. What a lovely spot. Fantastic rooms, nice bar, lovely pool, perfect location. That's how I like to dial it. Look forward to returning.

After staying out in Coronado or La Jolla on previous visits to San Diego, we decided to stay right in the city for this trip and selected the Pendry in preference to the Hyatt/Hilton/Marriott options. We booked a corner view room adding a specific request that we be allocated a room away from any noise sources. It was the noise, and the Pendry’s handling of it, that tainted our stay. At check-in there was mention we might encounter some noise on that side of the hotel. Sure enough as early as 6pm the noise from the street was cranking up and we called down with our concerns about being able to sleep. We were told all the corner view rooms were on that side. I reiterated our request for a quiet room and the fact we’d flagged it when booking. It became clear that the hotel should have advised us against a corner view room when we booked, so we could have selected a different room type (or hotel …) We began to feel we were being blamed for booking a corner view room! We were told the hotel was full and they couldn’t offer any other room, so we said we’d have to check out. Then we were told if we checked out we’d be liable for the full cost of our six night stay. A disagreement ensued as the hotel could and should have done more, both when we booked and at this point. Then we were offered the opportunity to see a suite which would cost us nearly double with no break on the extra, or a potentially quieter room for the following night, which we couldn’t see. We were not happy. We’ve visited 40 countries all over the world over many years and never been threatened with such draconian nonsense. Thankfully the staff member came after about ten minutes and took us to the equivalent room on the quieter side of the hotel, saying they’d done some checking and could move us straight away. We went with that option and the room had a vista of the bay across the rooftops which was nice. And it was quieter - we were woken up one night, but just that once. The rooms have a glass box containing the shower actually IN the bedroom. The glass does reflect light giving a feeling of space although the room is small and the bathroom is very tight. We’ve not encountered such cheap, thin toilet paper for years. The furnishings make no sense - an 8’ desk with a heavy almost immovable chair, yet nowhere for two to eat, e.g. for breakfast; a large rather tacky dresser housing a fridge full of revenue generating drink options with more on top. We never use a mini bar and would have preferred the space. The hotel has delusions of grandeur and charges accordingly. We weren’t impressed to be charged $5.50 a cup for basic brown liquid branded as coffee with our $80 breakfast, so had breakfast elsewhere the rest of our stay. In fact we made a point of dining elsewhere rather than patronizing the hotels offerings. On the last day we asked for a 1.5 hour extension on check-out and were told that could be done for $100. On escalating that, we were granted an hour free, but nickel and diming on the first AND last day isn’t good. The pool area is very cramped with far too many "Reserved" signs, which went unused for the entirety of our stay with guests squeezed on top of each other on the "allowed" sunbeds. With some exceptions, the staff are pretty up themselves - the culture in’t right and they seem trained to hide behind policy, rather than help, so we rarely felt like valued guests and the experience overall was disappointing. The exceptions are Devonte, who had to handle the ridiculous money-grabbing cancellation policy and did solve the room issue on day 1, Roman, Vito, Chris and all the delightful housekeeping crew - our thanks to them.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
claustrophobic sized room with terrible view of a rooftop that was scattered with gross debris. Was told ( after spending over 500$ on the room ) i’d have to pay for an upgrade to move. Save your money book elsewhere. Definitely not worthy of 5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyNice hotel with some quirks
Mostly a great experience. Check in was the biggest issue, room wasn’t available until after 5pm. The shower smelled pretty awful, it had a harsh sulfur smell. The staff was nice and courteous. The amenities were perfect
Be the first to ReplySuperb Stay
We just left after staying a night at the Pendry and can’t say enough about this hotel. We came in for a concert and wanted something within walking distance to Petco Park. Upon arrival at the hotel, they offered valet parking for $55 which was a bargain given parking nearby for the concert. The front desk staff was able to get us into our room early and the room itself was absolutely beautiful! The bed was super comfortable and the shower was amazing. We ordered room service after our concert and it was excellent (burger and club sandwich). The cost is within range of what we’d expect to pay for a hotel as close to Petco Park/the Convention center and we would definitely stay here again. A++++!
Be the first to ReplyA gem in the gas lamp district!!
A Dazzler in the gas lamp district !! Laid back elegance, perfect location, fabulous room, fabulous breakfast. Staff is 100% professional yet friendly and always gracious. Cathy (the concierge) was simply amazing. If you want pampering this is the place. Do not miss this one !
Be the first to ReplyFlora Martinez 5 star front desk agent!
Flora is an amazing concierge hotel representative. She is beyond professional, accommodating, empathic and goes beyond measure to deliver guests needs. She went out of her way to take time and book me a different room, because she knew it was my anniversary, she, unlike many other Hotel Gas representatives would not have done it the way she did. I will definitely come back to this hotel only because of her and she is a stand out representative. Thank you so much for this incredible experience. She deserves to be noticed.
Be the first to ReplyGreat stay with friendly staff
This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. The staff were amazingly friendly and always greeted me with a smile and a hello. The Valet service was great as well and the gentlemen serving us in this capacity made the experience easy and accessible. I would recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful hotel and staff
We booked through AmEx Travel for a 3 night stay and greatly appreciated the bonus amenities. Our upgraded 11th floor room was very spacious and luxurious. Thanks to the housekeeping and evening turndown staff for the special touches and certainly enjoyed the macaroons. Breakfast in the Provisional was exceptional especially the omelets and the blueberry pancakes. Juan was absolutely a delight as our server. Coffee near the restaurant was complimentary until 10:00. The hotel was within easy walking distance to many restaurants. I don’t recall every being in a hotel no matter the price where every staff member greeted us with a big smile, and asked how we were doing etc. until we stayed here! Exceptional hotel in all areas!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Design, Great Food - the BEST Staff!
My husband and I stayed last week in downtown SD and I was very happy with our hotel selection from the moment we pulled into the curb! The hotel had great design, great food, the rooms were nice sized for a downtown hotel, super cool shower integration! And the bed and linens were a slice of heaven - the robe too! We brought our own wine that didn't fit in the honor bar so they brought up another small refrigerator - nice! Had brunch each morning at the Provisional with lots of locals - knew it had to be good! The concierge was the only miss - I had called for reservation help one evening (weeknight) and no one was available, but I found Cucina Urbana in Little Italy -perfect! The other issue was I had asked about shopping in upscale boutiques and the gentleman only knew about LaJolla and Fashion Valley Mall - chock full of luxury brands but not what I was looking for. Again, I found my own great shopping - Solona Beach (albeit 25 min North but on the way to LaJolla.) It was perfect - outdoor shopping district, upscale furniture and clothing/jewelry boutiques. Saving the BEST for last - and don't tell my husband - I left my jewelry in the hotel room nightstand drawer and didn't figure it out until we were long gone to La Quinta. I called the hotel and they connected me with Tom in Security. He was patient and kind, his team had the inventory (I had alot of jewelry) and connected me to the 3rd party site who FedEx'd the package (signature required of course!). I received my package today and everything was there. Kudos to the hotel house cleaning staff for being so thorough and so honest! And big shout out to Tom and Andrew in Security for their follow up - ensuring all went well! Highly recommend Pendry!
