Atrocious service, scam of a restaurant
This restaurant is a scam. Atrocious service or lack thereof with food that is subpar and overpriced. Waited to be seated for a very long time despite four people standing right in front of me at a time where there was no one in the restaurant. Then had to wait to find a waiter to take her orders Then waited 35 minutes or more only to be told that our food order was never placed Cold and dismissive attitude throughout Then they had the audacity to add a service charge of 18% on our bill, which is utterly ridiculous and a scam. I've never had to pay a mandatory service charge even at Michelin star restaurants for two people at lunch especially when nobody else is in the restaurant and not busy. The worst restaurant experience I've had in the last decade hands down.

I was looking forward to Peking duck, which turned out to disappoint. The duck wraps were dry and tough. They were not the lovely light wraps. that you can see through. Duck in flavor was lacking. When I brought it to the waiters attention, he said they used flour tortillas. The Pork Belly was not the traditional Chinese Style, instead seemed to have a coating and deep fried. No flavor! Vegetables were the best part of the dinner. The flavor was good, vegetables were cooked nice and crispy. Over all I was disappointed with the food and would not return.

Delicious Dim Sum, Pecan Shrimp, Shrimp Eggrolls..... I am still dreaming about them! We shared everything! Left stuffed and happy!
Be the first to Replygreat Chinese food
We were dying to return to indoor dining so we returned to this place as soon as it was allowed to open. The food was as good as we remembered. We had rice cake with seafood, salt and pepper chicken wings and some dim sum. The food is of very high quality and the portion generous. The seafood in the rice cake dish was fresh and cooked perfectly. Lastly, the food presentation is also very attractive. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. It is by far the best Asian restaurant in downtown Bellevue. The parking is easy as well. All in all, this is a winner.

We ate here for a birthday celebration. The food was delicious, including the vegetarian options. The number of vegetarian options were limited, but tasted good. Service was great. Will definitely go back for more.
Be the first to ReplyModern interpretations of Chinese classics
This was not our first visit to Peony, nor will it be our last. The food here is consistent and the service is attentive with food and beverages served in a timely fashion. The Whole Five Spiced Crispy Duck is a must - reminiscent of traditional Peking Duck but with a modern flair, it is a whole boneless duck served with thin pancakes, scallions, hoisin sauce and thin slices of roast lemon which add an extra flavourful dimension to this dish. The 5 flavoured pan fried pork buns are unique as well - original, seafood, cheese, mushroom, and squid ink renditions are found no where else that Iโve dined. The five flavoured beef, pork belly, sautรฉed broccolini and Peonyโs chow fun nicely rounded out our dinner for the evening. For excellent Chinese food, donโt miss this destination!
Be the first to ReplyPricey Decent Chinese Food with Automatic 18% Gratuity Included
We went here for a group dinner. This is a modern-looking Chinese restaurant next to Bellevue Square. Great location. The dishes are pricey and the portion is small. Some entrees are good and some are not (orange chicken has too much orange taste, soup is cold, garlic noodle is average). I have had better Chinese food before (Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, etc.). The thing that I don't like is the automatic adding of 18% gratuity to the total, regardless of how many people in the party or how the service is. This is not right as it may drive a bad service since there is no more motivation to provide a good one. I probably will not go to this restaurant anymore.

Dined at the Peony Kitchen for the first time with friends. When we arrived, the hostess wasn't friendly and said without reservations, they may not accommodate us. We arrived at 4:30pm and the place was completely empty!!! We got seated and ordered drinks which were happy hour prices. The kids all got their juices but they only filled half way in the kids' cups. We were shocked to find out that they were $4 each on the bill (then they should've filled all the way). They also didn't honor the happy hour prices for our drinks but we had already paid. So we talked them into getting free desserts instead, but the whole experience from the moment we entered was not a pleasant experience. We probably will not return to this restaurant!!

We've now tried this restaurant twice while visiting Bellevue. Both times service was abysmally slow, the waitstaff seemed unconcerned and distracted and both times a dish we had ordered after a long wait never did arrive. Beware..there's an automatic gratuity added to each check. Maybe that has something to do with the mediocre service. Regarding food quality, it's mediocre as well.

Peony is ร very good chinese restaurant. The place is usually crowded but it's big enough to accomodate large groups. So we didn't Need a reservation. We had two appetizers, a noodle And chicken dish. All were rรฉally good. I was only saddened when i found out the century eggs i had last time aren't served anymore.
