Located behind a telephone booth inside of Crif Dogs, the area was even smaller than I expected. Walked-in on a Thursday night and was put on a waitlist. Surprisingly we didn't wait long and was given a booth in about 20 minutes. Suntory time machine wasn't as strong as I thought it would be, which I liked. I didn't taste too much fig, but it was an easy drink that I wouldn't mind having again. Tried the Hanoi dog. Much smaller than I expected. The hot dog was okay. It had a nice bite. It didn't wow me too much. Spicier than I expected. Buns were soft. Seems like they rotate their offerings every so often. There's a QR code on the back of the drink menu that has a list of other drinks.

Don't recommend it for food or ambiance.
Be the first to ReplySuch a great place.
Very unique entrance thru an old phone booth. The drinks were very expensive but it's NYC so I expected as much. But the service was epic and the bartender made cocktails tailored specifically to our tastes. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you're in the area.

Came here late night on a Saturday and they were able to seat us right away with no res! The entrance through the phone booth was really creative and promising, but the interior was actually a little underwhelming. Nothing too cool on the inside, but the music was really nice. Their drink selection was very intriguing and enormous. So many unique drinks to choose from! I ended up getting the Fountain Cobbler and it was really good! Pretty strong, but didn't have a heavy alcohol taste. Good for people who like the taste of root beer. This place was fun for the one time, but I probably would not go again.

Showed up to PDT at 5:30pm on a Saturday by myself and was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar. I was promptly introduced to the amazing and wonderful Chloe who was so nice and welcoming. I told her that I usually drink margaritas on the sweeter side and if she could make me something with that information and Chloe did. not. disappoint. What she made me tasted so good. She made me a passionfruit cucumber margarita concoction and I was so pleased with it. It tasted so good. The ambiance was nice and dark and romantic. While the space is small I loved the intimacy and atmosphere of the place. The bar has hooks you can hang your things on because I had a book bag and a purse that I didn't want to be in the way and when I hung them up I barely remembered they were there. I was comfortable at the bar, not cramped or anything. I then asked Chloe if she'd be so kind to charge my phone behind the bar because I was at 13% and needed it to travel home. Chloe went above and beyond offering me a portable charger instead that allowed me to keep my phone with me and charged my phone SUPER FAST. I charged my phone for about an hour and left with 77%. Chloe then made me the Shark cocktail on the menu and it was delicious and tropical and I loved its blue color. I will definitely be coming back to PDT; both by myself and with friends !

Great atmosphere, a bit louder than anticipated for a speakeasy, but the drinks were balanced, nice variety. They were a bit on the sweeter side for my husband and I, and I would say they weren't as delicate or unique as I've had at some other speakeasy cocktail bars, but it was a good time. The truffle fries are also a good snack to go with a couple of rounds of drinks.
Be the first to ReplyHad a great time here.
I went a few years ago with my sisters, returned this weekend with my boyfriend. Fun drinks that all have a zillion components to them but all turn out more subtle than you think. Thoughts on some current menu items-- Paddington--a delightful light gin-based cocktail served up. Refreshing and uncomplicated, but not too sweet! Heart Of Glass--their current martini. This was so delicate, botanical, not astringent. All sorts of interesting things went into it that I no longer remember :D Black Diamond--a variation on an espresso martini and one of the best I've had in the city. I started off letting the bartender know some preferences and asking to be surprised. I didn't like the drink she made (not her fault I don't like star anise, and something in the drink had a similar essence). She was VERY cool about it and didn't mind making me something else. Hot dogs are great. Burger is possibly too expensive for what it is, but as a two-patty smash burger with La Frieda beef, I simply can't complain. Tater tots that were practically too hot to eat. Great experience.

Had a phenomenal time at PDT for a late night res (100% make a reservation). From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendliest staff that made this experience so amazing. Not the mention, the entrance is so cool (I don't want to spoiled the surprise). The bartenders gave great insight on what cocktails we'd enjoy and our bartender, Mala, made our experience unforgettable. There's an expansive drinks list and something for everywhere whether you enjoy sweeter cocktails, like myself, or stronger ones which is something I don't really see at other speakeasies. The food is from the shop next door and the David chang dog was delicious. It was a bacon wrapped hotdog topped with kimchi and I will always consider adding kimchi to my hotdogs now. Very cozy, intimidate vibes on the inside with pretty cool decor as well. There are large booth seats or small 2 top tables as well as bar seating. The best bar or at least one of the best bars I've been to and I highly recommend. Can't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a cozy speakeasy in St.
Mark's where you ring the phone to get in! Luckily we were able to get a spot when we went, because last time I was told that the wait would be like 3 hours. I loved the music that they played here, with a variety of vibes and lots of throwbacks. The drink menu was extensive but I enjoyed the NA cocktails more! The service is good as they're attentive and check up on you often and I loved that they also do your coat check as well (:

Really fun speakeasy concept! I love that you need to use a phone booth to enter, in such an unexpected location. Thankfully they have online reservations, because the secret is out about this bar and the wait was 2hrs without a reservation. We were able to get in about 5 min after our reserved time and they sat all 6 of us at the same table, despite separate reservations. The atmosphere certainly makes this bar feel exclusive and secret. It's dark and feels underground, but also classy. The menu has an extensive list of cocktail options. They're all pretty expensive, but worth the experience and they make them extremely well. Unlike other speakeasy bars, this isn't a tourist trap. It's a fun experience and a must-go in NYC!

A Lowkey speakeasy bar with a healthy layout suitable as a double date and tasty--albeit very expensive--cocktail options to choose from. $21 a drink. 3.75/5 stars as a night bar.

2010s music was pumping and it was a VIBE! We had a super comfortable half-circle booth for a table of 6. The drink menu was very dark liquor forward. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tónico. It was a refreshing gin and tequila based cocktail. There was a bit of a line to get in, despite having a reservation, but once in, everything went smoothly!

We came here on a recommendation and put our names down on the waiting list. We received a text message when we were up and had so much fun walking into this small and cozy speakeasy. The menu is extensive and the drink offerings were so enticing with their creativity. It was so hard to choose just one. If you can't decide, the bartenders are super helpful whipping up a cocktail to suit your liking. I ordered the stone and thistle and savored every sip. If you appreciate a skillfully designed cocktail, this place is most definitely for you. And for anyone in your party that is abstaining, well, there is also a good selection for them too so that everyone can enjoy. So get yourself on the waitlist and have fun.
Be the first to ReplyHot dogs.
Taxidermy bear. Unique cocktails. I mean, what more could you ask for? Hah! You enter through a phone booth for god's sake. It's very cool.Seriously though, the gourmet hot dogs are really freaking good. I got the everything with pepperocini and I've been craving another one ever since. The cocktails are really unique but pretty much whatever you get is perfectly balanced and delicious. I had the Nordic root which had beets and dill and sounded funky but it was so refreshing and lovely!
Be the first to ReplyLove myself a good speakeasy and this one is so unique.
You walk into a hot dog shop and there's a telephone booth on the left where you ring and they open a secret entrance that leads to the intimate bar setting with some tables/couches for bigger groups. I got a cocktail called "shark" which had so many things in it I don't even remember what alcohol base it was but it was pretty good. It kind of tasted like a strong alcoholic cool aid. I enjoyed it and would come here again.
Be the first to ReplyStill amazing, even after all these years and after many
Still amazing, even after all these years and after many other speakeasy/cocktail bars have come and gone around the city. This is a classic that holds up! Recently went to an event where they did cocktail making demos and talked about their philosophy on how to create a drink, which was very interesting. They're focused on delivering a drink that you'll enjoy - high quality and precise, without being overly complicated or fussy, and you will taste the difference in the choices they make particularly in familiar drinks like an Old Fashioned - among the very best I've ever had!

Awesome place for great drinks and shock value for someone who has never experienced a good hidden speakeasy in NYC ask about the secret menu for the awesome cliff dogs!

I love Jeff Bell the owner of PDT from listening to him discuss the Benton's Old Fashioned on Cocktail College. I went to PDT with high hopes, but was disappointed at how badly managed this establishment was. This has everything to do with the door staff. We were added to the wait list and told in 90 minutes we would receive a text. After over 2 hours we decided to return and ask for a time estimate. Upon arrival we saw several groups who specifically said they didn't have a reservation get let in immediately by the female door staff at approximately 12:30 on February 11th. When we asked for the same accommodation we were told to wait for 30 more minutes. After hours of wait it was finally our turn and then with no reasons given she told us she couldn't accept our id's. Not only were they real id's but they were TEXAS Id's and I'm a registered bartender in Texas and know for certain that this woman turned us away for no other reason but as a power trip. If you get a reservation I'm sure you can enjoy this place with no issue, but if you plan on joining the waitlist you are wasting your time. There are several other good cocktail bars you can take your business to.
Be the first to ReplyReally cool speakeasy in East Village.
You enter through the phone booth in Crif Dogs and there are instructions once you're in the phone booth. If you know you want to have drinks there in a busy night, I would recommend putting your name down before dinner so that you can be sat after you eat.
Be the first to ReplyRidiculous place.
We were visiting from out of town and had a reservation and were still made to wait 30+ minutes for a table. Keep in mind they charge $90 for cancelled reservations. Not at all worth it for the very poor service.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is overrated.
I've been working pretty hard to get reservation for this place and really hoped that it will be as amazing as some other cocktail bars in Manhattan. The bar and cocktails are no more than mediocre, the service is horrible. Ambiance and location is good.

PDT is so popular that we came here twice and finally got in the second time. The first time was on a Sunday evening. We didn't know the entrance was inside Crif Dogs, and it took us a few minutes to find the entrance to the bar. By the time we found the entrance to PDT, there was already a line. It was surprising since it was only around 5:30pm. We put the name down and was told the wait time was around 40 minutes. We waited for at least 50 minutes and checked again and was told they can't provide an accurate wait time given that some people had reservations. Wish they could tell us earlier so that we would go to another bar immediately instead of waiting. We came here for a second time on a Wednesday evening around 5:45pm. Luckily, there wasn't a line this time, and we got in right away. There's a phone booth at the entrance to the bar, which was cool. You'd need to pick up the phone and dial it to enter the bar. We ordered two cocktails - mine had carrot juice in it which was quite interesting. I like the drinks, and the service was also good, but I'm not sure if it's worth waiting for a long time.

Long wait, crowded space, trendy drinks, typical *trendy* bar that Manhattan has to offer. Not really a speakeasy and the phone thing is kind of a gimmick now. The drinks are definitely good, but would I justify the wait and cost? Not really, plenty of great cocktail bars elsewhere.
