Not greatโฆโฆ.poor service
Seems like a March to forget for PSS. Our experience was poorโฆ.Booked to celebrate my wifeโs 50th birthday as previously this has been a great place to eat and celebrate. Unfortunately on this occasion the service was slow and chaotic- no feeling of a special place to eatโฆ..just another transaction and another opportunity to upsellโฆ.pushy sommelierโฆ.food was good but service made us feel like we should be grateful they allowed us a table in their establishmentโฆ.I will now swerve this place unfortunatelyโฆ..having been their 5 times before.,,.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional lunch
Our monthly treat is to go out for an exquisite lunch, PSS did not disappoint. Post covid we have noticed that prices have risen and standards have slipped at some restaurants. Whilst we understand prices need to rise, we were so pleased that PSS gave us an exceptional lunch. Whilst all the food was fantastic the coffee chocolate dessert (my deal combo) was the best dessert I have ever had.We found all the staff to be charming, knowledgeable and helpful. This one is on our return list!
Be the first to ReplyFlavourless, fussy and expensive
So over rated, I just don't get it. Numerous plates of tasteless food, numerous staff rushing around, I think we must have had 10 people serve us. The whole experience was chaotic. We won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming
Underwhelmed by this place. Food was nice but nothing stand out compared to some Michelin restaurants we have visited previously. Never spent this much on such an average Michelin meal. Had the 4 course menu. All well presented but nothing had the wow factor. Most disappointing perhaps was the very clinical and efficient service - really lacking in warmth. Throughout the entire meal not a single waiter attempted to engage in conversations with us. Wouldnโt go back.
Be the first to ReplyAwful restrooms
I expect restrooms in a top notch restuarant to be decent, however when I visited during lunch last week, 2 out of 3 of the toilets were horrible. Please get someone to maintain the restrooms.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant cancelled our booking 10 hours before our reservation on Valentineโs Day due to the โsystem errorโ
They refuse to give our deposit back !!! 80ยฃ Disappointing Experience: Reservation Canceled Last Minute We had made a reservation for Valentine's Day, and were looking forward to a romantic evening. However, the restaurant canceled our reservation just 10 hours before our scheduled booking time, leaving us without a place to dine on such a special occasion. This was extremely disappointing and inconvenient, and it definitely put a damper on our Valentine's Day plans. We had made other arrangements that were now disrupted, and we were left scrambling to find another restaurant at the last minute. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience. A restaurant that cancels reservations last minute without any alternative solutions does not value its customers, and we will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyOMG this is a must visit if youโre a foodie.
I am still in shock at the quality of the food at the Pollen street social. Possibly the best food Iโve ever had. Kevin Brown was absolutely wonderful at the chefs table experience. Johnathan the sommelier, Peter, Ella, Michael, the staff were exceptional. We have eaten at all the Michelin star restaurants in London and the one star at Pollen Street Social defies explanation
Be the first to ReplyLived up the expectations
Lunch with family lived up to expectations. It is so nice to take family to a favourite restaurant and not be disappointed. Set lunch menu was great and there is a flexibility ( with a supplement!) to swop one or two courses from another menu. Shellfish ravioli, monkfish, ox cheek, lamb, cod- all just great and beautifully presented. Cheese and desserts - the Pink lady & Dulcey chocolate mousse just had to be photographed! Everything was so enjoyable. Staff were brilliant as usual and friendly and engaging. My only regret is that we feel we should apologise to the Sommelier- sorry to be such a nuisance ordering wine and asking for advice. We recognise what a tough job you have but hope that one day you will be able to feel relaxed with the restaurant diners and smile.
Be the first to ReplyEarly birthday dinner
Suprised to get a on the day table. The head sauce with the lobster had a very intense taste but was well complimented by the other ingredients. The monkfish was very good. The jus with the Highland venison was excellent. The coffee ice cream went well with the dessert, and the petit fours were delightful.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible food with wonderful service
Amazing! The menu was incredible, taking many of our favourite foods and combining them in a truly sensational experience. Each plate was carefully presented with an informative narration of what we were receiving. Our sommelier was exceptional offering wines to suit our tastes and pair beautifully with the dishes. In particular, he had an excellent rapour while discussing the wine (and cheeses) clearly showing his passion for the different styles. We had a truly memorable experience at Pollen Street Social and loved every minute. Thank you to all the team that made this possible.
Be the first to ReplyA must visit experience
Wow, what a great experience. The food was amazing, the wine selection was great, service was on point. There was nothing I think you could change
Be the first to ReplyNice place nice drinks
Unplanned pop up here at night. Didnโt have any chance to eat here because I was alone and didnโt book table for dinner. Had some good beverages for a few hours by myself and it was nice. Nice atmosphere indeed!
Be the first to ReplyFirst Visit since 2013, Best Meal of our Trip
On this trip, we dined at 4 Michelin star restaurants, Pollen St Social was far and away the best. We had a 830pm reservation on a Saturday night, ordered the tasting menu with premium wine pairings, with a cocktail before the meal. What distinguished the experience was both the quality of each course and pairing, along with the pacing of the meal. In two other Michelin star meals, we also got the tasting menu, and while the food was quite good, it felt like we were rushed with no more than a minute or so between each course. It was almost like they had a conveyor belt outside the kitchen with each course of the tasting menu lined up so the tables could be quickly turned. Not so at Pollen St Social. What was most impressive was that we would get a generous pour of each wine 5 or so minutes before the food course would arrive, giving us a chance to slowly drink the wine both with and without food. Without that 5 minute gap, we might find ourselves trying to drink the wine as fast as we can to finish it before the next glass arrived. Would highly recommend the tasting menu to others, as we walked away feeling full but not bloated like as some other restaurants.
Be the first to ReplySuperb food and fabulous service
Visiting here is such a pleasure. It goes almost without saying that the food is inspiring both in taste and visually but its also all the small touches that set this above the competition - personal stools for the ladies' handbags, each member of staff having such a thorough knowledge of every dish and each ingredient (who knew the advantages of a crapaudine beetroot? Well I now do). A sommelier who must have an encyclopaedic memory of the huge wine list. Then there's all the delicate amuse bouches. One day I might go for the 4 course tasting menu but even the 3 course tea (lunch) lunch seems to be endless with all the extra elements. Finally, it somehow manages to successfully blend smart and informal without offending either. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyA terrific meal
We were last here in 2014 , when I looked up my review , we had a tepid fish dish and a an overly salty Guinea fowl , service very good ambience great as I said at the time it made me think that Jason with so many restaurants might be spreading himself a little thinly .
Ok , but we wanted to return ,could hardly believe it had been. 8 years , but my goodness ! Firstly Jason was in the kitchen , the room looked great , the staff were friendly and faultless , and the food from start to finish was simply terrific , from the โ afternoon teaโ - which of course wasnโt ! To all 4 courses of fish , and meat plus something we had not had in a restaurant for years a selection of cheese
The whole experience made my wife and I really happy and glad we had chosen pollen street social again , thanks to all the lovely staff and of course Jason and all the chefs .
Great lunch but slow
Enjoyed the food very much and the staff are lovely but after 2 hours we had to leave before dessert. I think the message is to tell them up front if there's a deadline because otherwise it's slow...
Be the first to Reply5 hours of ultra fine dining
Had 5 hours of top service and ultra fine dining. Attention to detail on everything including the restrooms and the theatre of the port bottle were top class. The best evening of fine dining I can remember. Had the a la carte menu at ยฃ110 head and was decent value for this class. The place was busy, modern and cool with a mix of clientele. Us middle Agers fitted in nice. Highlights were the fish course of turbot and the fantastic British cheese board, knowledgeably presented and superb. Wineโs were expensive and the bill was โfully pricedโ but we were there 5 hours and absolutely flew by. Brilliant place.

Staff were very knowledgeable with a light touch

Thank you pollen street
Such a treat!
Six of us visited for lunch on Saturday and it really was a fabulous experience. The food is bursting with flavour and each dish presented like a piece of art. My favourite dishes were the turbot and the scallop. Everything is carefully thought out from the attentive service style to the beautiful crockery and glass ware. We were lucky enough to meet Jason Atherton and he is both charming and unassuming for someone so talented. We went for the wine flight and the sommelier was passionate when talking through each of the wonderful wines. A great afternoon was had by all. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyBritish Chefs - Best in the World!
This was naughty, a completely off the cuff moment and there we are booked in for lunch at Pollen Street, not even a celebration or special occasion. I love those impromptu, indulgent mad times. We decided on the a la carte menu having tasted the longer menus before, deciding on alternate dishes between us aside from the beef. What a treat! Afternoon tea is so so good, my dishes were scallop, John Dory, beef, cheese and chocolate dessert. OMG scallop was the best I have had in many a restaurant visit with the flavours married perfectly, probably my favourite course was the John Dory wow, wow , wow, ok one of my most liked fish is dory so I am biased but this is a got to have, the beef superb, pre dessert refreshing, dessert luxurious. And yes we had wine muscadet with fish, red with meat, port with cheese, what gluttony and pleasure. The staff are fantastic, no stuffiness or looking down on you when one orders a โcheapโ bottle of wine or you end up with bread crumbs all over the table, they are passionate about their work, restaurant, food and boss - clearly. We chatted about the British restaurant scene and produce available and this manifests itself through the food and experience at this establishment. We also had the pleasure to talk to Jason Atherton and I was very pleased that he told us they no longer turn tables and expect the furniture back after an hour or two. That is one of my misgivings about the eating out industry - if I am paying circa ยฃ500 for lunch I do not expect to be kicked out at any point in the proceedings. What a top bloke! I can honestly say this is one of my top 3 restaurants in England and like the others why has Michelin not awarded enough stars? This place outranks certain 3 star rated places easily and many 2 star - no names mentioned of course. But forget the stars and ratings, this just top notch you must try it.
