Service and staff was nice.
There's was nothing that did not taste bad! We loved everything! And it's fur baby friendly
Great place to dine
First time to Poogan’s, but won’t be our last. The food was delicious. We started with pimento cheese fritters with bacon jam…amazing! I had fried chicken, collard greens and red beans and rice which was all good and very tasty with big portion

Seems like a popular lunch spot! We were lucky to be sat without reservations (fairly large place with in and outdoor spaces). We did lunch a round 1:00ish on a Thursday. We got the pimento cheese fritters and the award winning shrimp & grits (
What a letdown.
Poogan's is hyped as a Charleston staple, but my experience was the total opposite of "Southern charm." The shrimp and grits--the dish they're known for--was a complete flop. The flavor wasn't there, the shrimp didn't t
First time visiting Poogan's Porch.
..definitely not the last! We ate at many wonderful places in Charleston and I had Poogan's reserved as the last meal (brunch) before heading to the airport on our last day. You could say we saved the best for last! Wow! Literally brought a tear

Visited Charleston last month & stopped into Poogan's Porch for dinner. We were not disappointed! I had Frogmore Stew & my husband had a steak. Both were very good. We enjoyed eating outside on a warm October evening. Great service &
Great classic luncheon spot!
It was a beautiful day and we nabbed a table on the porch. I enjoyed the she crab soup and my husband had the shrimp and grits. Both were superb and our waitress very attentive.
Unfortunately did not like this place.
Went here for brunch and was disappointed with the food. Fried chicken entree 2/5 - chicken was basic and nothing special, the veggie on the side was sour and the rice was very soggy. On the bright side interior was cute and service was good.
This is a cute establishment in what was once a home.
I had the fried chicken dinner and it was very good. The service was great as well, hubby had a bourbon and the pour was generous. He had the shrimp and grits and said it was delicious.
Sadly not good
Wait staff inattentive and very slow. Salad was not at all what menu said-additionally the lettuce was very gritty so probably not washed. Dessert never arrived. We won’t return
Was surprised at all the good reviews.
Had this bookmarked before visiting Charleston and saw the ad in the airport as well. Made reservations for dinner the last night we were in Charleston and all in all was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Table wasn't ready when we
This was such a charming and fun spot in Charleston.
I got the corned beef and bacon fat rice, my daughter got a classic breakfast, and my husband got the biscuits and gravy. They do bring each table complimentary biscuits so keep that in mind before ordering. The corned beef and rice was incredible an
Not Worth the Hype
Overall impression is it’s not that good as the reviews say The ambiance and atmosphere is ok - it’s quite loud and hearing can be difficult The food was ok nothing to make this a repeat for me glad I tried it out but Meh!
Hoped for more...
Hoped for a little more southern hospitality, but did really enjoy the unique pimento fritters and the pecan pie was legit!
Love this restaurant! Probably the best fried green
Love this restaurant! Probably the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had. The waitress was incredibly nice and a super star. My boyfriend, who usually knows what he wants couldn't decide, because the menu looked so could. She figured that

It had been a few years since my last visit to Poogan's Porch, so I decided to bring some out-of-town friends to enjoy some good old-fashioned Southern food. Drinks: We sampled a mix of Old-Fashioneds, the Lavender Vodka Martini, and a Ketel On

Delicious with great, friendly service. We went for breakfast. The chicken and waffles were delicious and they kept the coffee coming. The atmosphere was very classy.
Worth a try.
The fried green tomatoes were pretty good. The fried chicken was delicious and the chicken & dumplings were just okay. I would go back for the service and.cocktails.
Wow- while in Charleston do not miss this gem.
My biggest piece of advice is make sure you come hungry! My partner and I met some Charleston friends for brunch and they shared it is one of their favorite spots. The restaurant itself is huge- as each floor of the old home has its own vibe and old
Not impressed
Very limited drink and dinner menu. Biscuits were amazing. Everything else was just mediocre at best. Very over-hyped.
Great spot for brunch.
We had a carafe of mimosas and everyone happy with their food. Would not order the crab cakes again--too little crab meat and too much stuffing for my taste. Yummy biscuits--we asked for honey with them!
Terrible hostess. Awful food
I arrived at 640 for a 7:00 reservation. Altho there were many tables vacant, the very unfriendly hostess would not seat me. How ridiculous. My waitress was wonderful. A bit after I ordered, she came back to let me know that the fish I ordered wa
First, shout out to Dante.
He was the best server on our 3 weeks thru the south. 5 stars. We were able to walk in early on a Sunday and get a table, but we were lucky. Reservations are the way to roll. Mrs me had the shrimp and grits. It's award winning but she was think
Good - almost great
Great location. Really cool old house/restaurant. Hostess was bored and unfriendly - seemed she’d rather be anywhere else. Great/interesting menu. Food was excellent. Lamb shank was off-the-charts great. Service was marginal. After placing o

While there were no issues with the food, I think I just expected more given the high ratings here. The pimento fritters with bacon jam are amazing! The shrimp and grits were fine but could have used more seasoning and the plate was on the saucy side
Food was amateurish.
Server did not remember who ordered what. Nothing was hot. Shrimp and grits terrible. Shrimp were small, grits were coagulated. Wife's fried chicken not done in the middle . Server said that's ok, it's the marrow. We shared the worst
Underwhelming
The whole meal was under whelming. All the food was just about warm and not particularly flavoursome. Not impressed with any part of the meal and would never return.
Love love love Poogan's Porch.
This is my second time in, this time with a group, and we had a great brunch with our server, Julie.
Might be the best breakfast place in Charleston.
Erica, the bartender, was great. We will definitely be back
Still making Southern comfort food
We stopped in for a small bite before an early dinner. Nothing small here! The fried chicken sandwich had an extra piece on top of the bun.. it was clearly big enough for splitting. Everyone loved it and talked about it for days. I had a hash w/ r

Great little Brunch spot.
..loved the music and ambience. Servers were very attentive...kitchen was a bit slow.
Not worth the hype
Our waitress, Emily was great but the whole experience was so-so. I had the fried chicken and it was too spicy for my taste, even without the hot honey. My husband had the swordfish and he said it was very good. We were seated upstairs in a room that

Shrimp & Grits was good but the Wedge salad lacked flavor and umph! Good service and the waitress recommended fried Pimento balls which indeed were tasty.

Horrible Food.
I ordered 2 dishes. Shrimp & Grits and Chicken & Waffles. I had to try the shrimp and grits because apparently it the best. It was not good. I had a couple of shrimp and some grits. I had to put that one aside. I figured I have the Chicken &

Excellent Brunch
Wonderful Brunch. Dante, our server, helped make the meal very enjoyable. The Fried Green Tomatoes with Crab Salad were great. The Smash Burger and Shrimp & Hrits were very good.
Great food, bad service
The food was excellent. Service was non-existent. The pimento cheese fritters were creamy and crispy. The bacon jam was a nice compliment. The swordfish was meaty and had a good amount of citrus. I sat at the bar and other then taking my order and br

Good place. Gets busy.
Chicken and waffles was very good. Salad was good. Asked for dressing on the side which was a good idea. Had to wait about 1/2 hr for lunch table. No tap beers.
Good Southern Food doesn’t have to be soggy or mediocre!
I’ve never understood Poogan’s appeal as they serve great quantities of mediocre food, consistently. We’ve brought folks visiting us here- at their request not our recommendation. The last time the Fried Green Tomatoes were not soggy, a surpri
Charming with great food and service
Great location and charm here! We stayed right across the street at The Mills House Hotel so we had to check out Poogan’s. Loved learning about the history of the house turned restaurant before going there. It was easy to get a reservation the day
