Porto Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
I got a gift card for Porto in September 2023.
It's April 2024, and they are still closed. Apparently they are galavanting in Europe discovering new recipes. How pretentious.
I had the tasting menu here and it didn't disappoint.
Seafood dishes were truly unique and on point. Wine selection is incredible. Service was incredible. Each dish was brought out and introduced by a different member of their kitchen staff. A memorable evening to say the least!
This was the worst most expensive meal I've ever had.
The day after our meal my boyfriend and I broke up. Eddie, our server was phenomenal though. Beautiful space though.
I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone .
By far the worst Michelin Start restaurant that I have ever been so far. I consider myself a foodie person and I was very disappoint by the unsuccessful service and the quality of the food. From the button of my hard do not pick this restaurant if you are in Chicago and you want to enjoy a Michelin start restaurant. its not worth it.
Gorgeous space.
The service staff was thorough and kind. The food was underwhelming and I wrote to the management about the very expensive steak we had hoping to shed light on our experience (it was undercooked, VERY chewy, impossible to cut through and Just overall not bland. I was hoping to at least get a message back but nothing and that was months ago). It's disappointing to have spent so much money on a dinner that was so poorly cooked and for a management team to care so little about their customers experience.
Spend your money elsewhere.
I thought having a Michelin star meant something, but this spot did not live up to expectations. Our server was unprofessional and referred to another table of adults as "kids" he had to check in on. When setting down one of the courses, the food fell on its side and he used his fingers/hands to try and fix it. He ended up taking it back to the kitchen but it was gross seeing him handle our food the way he did. The general consensus of our table was that most of the food was too salty. The plating of the food could use a little work in my opinion. Heads up, this place also charges a 3.5% fee for using a credit card. Spent $560 for a party of 3 and left very disappointed.
I don't understand why this place has a Michelin star.
The service is bizarrely slow even though the place is always empty. The food is fine but nothing special, and yet it's extremely overpriced. They have a $100 "tasting menu" that isn't intended to cover, you know, an actual meal. It's intended to be "several bites" that you supplement with at least another $70 entree. They charge $30 for three ounces of octopus. The restaurant is beautifully decorated though.

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
