Delicious food! But if you make a reservation for a number
Delicious food! But if you make a reservation for a number of people and someone gets sick last minute, you will still have to pay for their entire menu even if the rest of you all show up. Also, they offer sparkling water without asking but you will be charged for it. Just a few things to keep in mind if you're on a budget!

Bokbacka is worth a visit! Interesting and delicious new nordic cuisine, presented in fun ways. A culinary experience. Great wines! The service is low key and professional. The staff were higly attentive from start to finish. Ate at the foodbar, which still felt intimate and made for a great date. The sexy art is worth a mention... good fit with the sensual meal.

My partner and I were seeking out new Nordic and managed to get a weekend dinner reservation only a few days in advance. Tip - At the time of reservation, you can provide dietary restrictions or allergies. We were seated at the bar so we could watch the chefs at work. Stunning presentation starting with a bamboo tree encircled by snacks. Tried our first pork tartare. Creative pea dish with bone marrow shavings. Dessert to die for. Drink pairing included pleasant surprises. By far one of our most memorable dinners.

5 stars rounding up to a 5. After missing our reservation at Colonialen in Bergen due to an injury, my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate my birthday in Oslo instead. We tried getting a reservation at Hos Thea, but it was fully booked for the weekend, so we settled for a late dinner reservation here after finding it on TripAdvisor. Originally, I wasn't too excited, but then the day of our dinner, the head chef himself called my boyfriend's cell phone with some questions about my allergies. He wanted to confirm that I was only allergic to the white parts of allium plants and not the green parts, and that butter was okay to include despite my lactose intolerance. Upon walking into the restaurant, I saw that the staff had a printout of all the reservations for the night, along with each party's dietary restrictions. Throughout the night, never once did I have to mention my allergies. They had already crafted special versions of each dish (a garlic-free sauce, a gluten and milk-free flatbread, a dairy free chocolate...) just for me. I've never eaten at a restaurant so at peace before. The meal was nothing short of a gastronomical experience. Dishes were modern, creative, well thought out and executed, beautifully plated, locally sourced, and minimally processed: the "tree" starter contained raw vegetables that tasted like the earth, the herring and lamb brisket were simply pan fried, and I had my very first raw pork tartare. My only criticism was that everything was on the salty side, but my boyfriend thought it was fine, so perhaps it's just me.The service throughout the night was stellar, with the sommelier and chefs stopping by for little chats with the guests. It didn't feel at all pretentious or snobby, but it was very attentive and professional. They always folded my napkin when I went to the restroom and refilled my water for me. It was also much fun watching the chefs work in the open kitchen, which was of course kept painstakingly clean. It's only a matter of time before they earn a Michelin star.

What a gastronomic experience!* The chefs are super accommodating to any food allergies. The head chef called us ahead of time to confirm the specifics of the food allergies. Upon arriving at the restaurant and throughout the entire meal, we never had to mention them again. Well thought out variations of the dishes were created out of these food restrictions* Many of the dishes were uniquely presented. One of them was presented on a potted bonsai tree. And you scoop of the food items using a tiny shovel. Another was in oyster shells and covered with dry ice giving such a magical effect. * Every dish has so much taste to it from the simple carrots to the pan fried dishes. My personal favorite is the green sauce used in The Tree. * Service was very exceptional. They were very attentive to us - everything you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant. A huge plus for me was there was no pretentious or snobby feeling when you're dining here. * The open kitchen shown to all customers was amazing. You can see how hard working all the chefs are and how much attention to detail they put into each dish. They had one person that only plated a single dish. It also gives you something to watch while you're waiting for your next dish. I would 110% recommend this place to anyone to anyone in Oslo.
