🤢 2/5 - Oddly terrible food and service

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch on our last day in Paris and, rather than being the highlight of our time in the city, this lunch was a huge disappointment. First, despite a nearly empty dining room downstairs, they sat us upstairs in a dark corner. We soon came to realize that they collected all the English-speakers up there, which is efficient for the waitstaff, but definitely gave us the sense that we were second-class patrons. Once seated, it took us nearly 20 minutes to receive any type of service or a drink, and then once we did, the staff bombarded us with amuse bouche after amuse bouche, taking plates away before we were even finished. They presented the menu options in a way that made it feel like a tacky chain restaurant, with a 30 euro up-charge if you add X or Y seasonal ingredient. At this price point, I would have expected such things to be included already (and we had found them to be included at other restaurants we visited during our stay). Then once the six courses started, we were horrified. I can’t profess to have the most sophisticated palate, but I know asparagus shouldn’t be a stringy mush. The execution was poor throughout and we grew to dread the next course rather than be excited for it. The service was awkward and rushed during the presentation of the dishes and wines, but terribly slow and absent in all other times. Three hours later, we were again asked if we wanted to add an additional course for an additional price and we declined and ultimately we’re served the best course: dessert. I recommend that you just go to Frenchie twice rather than pay these prices for oddly terrible food and service.
