EXCEPTIONAL
3 couples dined at this gem our last night in Vienna. We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I would say each of the couples have a huge appreciation of fine dining. We were BLOWN AWAY by the experience. Taste, portions, and pairings were Perfect, Perfect, and Perfect. Thank you to Chef Paul for the incredible food and presentation and thank you for the incredible service staff.
Be the first to ReplyGreat.. not normal… how good
Normally... but that's not normal here. This borders on genius... or madness when it comes to pampering the sense of taste to the extreme. So normally, I write a review days after I've visited the restaurant. In this case, I'm sitting at dessert and am still amazed, confused as to why the food was so good. Indescribable, you just have to try it. 7th heaven. Ps: dear Michelin star testers: the food alone would have deserved 3 stars... what was going on with you? This Valentine's Day was just as indescribably delicious for my wife and daughter, thanks to Edvard! Greetings

Ignorant, no service quality! After 45 minutes, I gently asked if breakfast would be served soon... The counter question was: have you ordered yet? The food was good but not outstanding... Conclusion: never again!

Refined restaurant with beautiful, well-presented dishes / perfect service with lots of attention If I have to come back to Vienna I would do it again without hesitation Thank you for this beautiful evening

Mediocre. If it had cost half as much, it would have been approved. Now it was expensive and mediocre. Not impressed. Decent markups on mediocre wines.

We went to Edvard's on Wednesday evening. Impeccable environment, top notch service. The waiters are really good and helpful, a really interesting 5-course tasting menu ranging from fish to meat (sublime wild boar). Price absolutely normal considering the context
Be the first to ReplyDisastrous, disappointing, disrespectful
As an enthusiast of fine dining, my expectations were high for our December dinner at Edvard, a celebrated Michelin-starred establishment. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of the acclaim in several aspects. Firstly, the ambiance was marred by an uncomfortably high temperature inside the restaurant, to the extent that we found ourselves opening windows in the middle of winter just to make it bearable. The pacing of the meal was another point of contention. Our five-course menu took an excessive three hours to serve, an unacceptable duration considering the small portion sizes. The slow service significantly detracted from the dining experience. Speaking of service, it was surprisingly absent for most of our meal. We experienced long periods without attention, to the point where we had to serve water to ourselves. This lack of attentive service is not what one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Most disappointingly, the food, while adequate, lacked the wow factor anticipated from a Michelin-starred kitchen. None of the courses stood out as memorable, leaving us underwhelmed and questioning the value for money. In conclusion, while I appreciate the efforts of the staff at Edvard, our experience was far from the standard expected at such a prestigious venue. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback, and I look forward to hearing about improvements in the future.

Michelin starred restaurants don’t always live up to expectations, but Edvard more than did so. Dishes were highly creative in making use of simple ingredients such as sea bass and pike. The baba desert was a true work of art! The wine list includes an education in Austrian wine, as well as a range of standards from elsewhere. The setting is elegant but simple, and the service friendly but of high quality, not always an easy combination. The only slight negative was the organization of the menu to accommodate avoidance of bird meat, but overall this was an excellent experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot Worth The Time Or Money
Reading the other reviews on here, I’m wondering if we may have just visited this restaurant on an off night. We were very excited to try this restaurant after reading the great reviews, but I did not feel that it was worth the time or money. I’ve dined at quite a few one-star restaurants, and am used to the slower pace that some restaurants operate at. However, taking an hour from being seated to the first course is unacceptable in my opinion. We opted for the 7 course menu and it took nearly 4 hours for completion. I’ve had 13 course meals that took a similar amount of time. There seemed to be no rhythm in regards to the amount of time between smaller bites and mains, just a LOT of time between them all. There were a few dishes that I thought were very tasty, but they all (with exception of the ice cream dessert) seemed to be the same temperature: room temperature. This has me wondering if the service staff was shorted handed that night and the dishes were plated and sat there longer than they should have. There were other odd things that I haven’t encountered at any other Michelin starred restaurant, such as: - Dirty plates being left at multiple (but not all) tables before finally being bussed away when the bill came - Multiple people being given the wrong jackets when departing - Not having the bottle of wine being explained (we elected for a bottle. I did see them explaining the wines for those whom elected for the wine tasting) None of these would normally bother me, but with the negative experience with the food and service, I feel they are worth mentioning. This is my first negative experience with a Michelin starred restaurant and really left a bad taste in my mouth. I would suggest booking a reservation at one of the many other well rated restaurants in Vienna.
Be the first to ReplyYou are never alone, tasting on your own.
Last week was my first time abroad on holiday since my wife died last year, and I wasn’t sure at all about Michelin Star dining on my own. Anyway, I decided to try Edvard, and went for the 5 course menu with tasting wines. The cooking is Michelin “creative” style, which is modern tasty food, the kind I like. The meal started with some lovely bread and amuse, and it didn’t take long for me to realise that there’s always someone else at the table when you are having a tasting menu. Namely the chief and their team. I had 2 starters, fish, meat and desert. All were excellent, as was the matching wine except for the one with the turbot, which was a bit stringent. If you like gourmet food I would suggest you try this restaurant. Don’t be put off by the fact its in an expensive hotel, I walked here, the entrance is on the street and the price is consistent with other Star restaurants around Europe. The waiting staff are all young, pleasant and helpful, so if you have never tried fine dining before, why not give it a go here and treat yourself for a special occasion. Tasting menus like this are similar to a music concert, only done for your taste buds instead of your ears. Previous reviewers say there was no written menu, well there is one now, but it’s a bit confusing. Lastly, while I was happy sitting on a bench seat, while I was there 2 older couples offered tables on the inside asked for tables with chairs. I had a very enjoyable evening dining here.
Be the first to ReplyVery nice!
Very nice restaurant, delicious and perfect service! You can choose 5 or 7 dishes. I ordered 5 and it was more than enough for one person. The meals are lenten and healthy. I like it!
Be the first to ReplyA classic restaurant
It was good. Classic French/European food. Nothing super inventive, but excellent if you need a luxury meal.
Be the first to ReplyMake it an unforgettable event
The team of Edvard made the celebration of our daughter‘s graduation a really special evening event. Not only that the food was delicious, it was especially the service team that was very professional and friendly and made us feel very comfortable that evening. Those little things like the private tour to the wine cellar, the cake to celebrate the graduation, the glass of sweet wine to taste, because our daughter just mentioned that she likes sweet wine, ... all that made the Edvard to our new favorite restaurant for special occasions. Thanks a lot!

One of my favourite cities in the world. This has to be my favourite restaurant in Vienna.
Elegant decor and attentive service.
I had the tasting menu and it was all very good. The portions are on the small size so get the larger tasting menu.
