Imperial Treat
While staying at the Hotel Imperial, we’ve decided to dine at the OPUS. It was truly a great experience. The set menu was exquisite and wine pairings were perfect! The staff was very polite and lovely. Feel privileged.

This was a true treat. The food was sublime and the service was superb (compliments to the senior and junior server). The table had two favourites - the lobster and the dover sole (the latter was truly delicious). I had the lobster, dover sole, celery sandwich (do not knock until you try it), the duck and for dessert fig crème brûlée (wow). A wonderful experience which I hope many people will enjoy.

We were in Vienna for 7 nights with a combination of high end and mid tier dining. This was by far our favorite dining of the visit! Great ambiance and the service was stellar….the food amazing! We elected a 5 course option but there were other options as well. The have an Antinori Tignanello at a great price compared to other high end dining restaurants and even cheaper than Cantinetta Antinori. Our dinner included king crab, sturgeon with caviar, duck, Waygu and an oyster on the half shell filled with diced short rib…Delicious! You won’t be disappointed!

While my wife and I were staying at the Hotel Imperial, OPUS happened to be running a special pop-up showcasing truffles. Being quite a fan of truffles, we leapt at the opportunity. It did not disappoint. The truffles were creatively and beautifully incorporated into a range of dishes, and the wine was included (with the sommelier being very, very generous with the pours, which was certainly noticeable after about a three hour dining experience).
My only complaint was the volume of good. There were about four amuse bouches, which were not at all tiny – I can pack away a fair bit of food but I was feeling quite sated by about four courses in (though I managed to power through).
The restaurant staff, including the maître d'hôtel, were attentive, kind, and knowledgable – as was the truffle dealer on hand to share about the main event!
Perfect evening
We visited Opus for a second time to celebrate my wife's bday. We had 4 course menu and a bottle of veltliner federspiel from Nikolayhof. The menu was an explosion of aromas, textures and flavours! Increadible wagy beef and very interesting and tasty black chicken preparation. We loved also the deserts. One had frozen ginger that matched perfectly with the ice and the chocolate. Our waiter Mr Grahic was extremely attentive, passionate and competent. We ate very well. Portions are decent. The only thing to improve was the temperature. It was really hot.Wear short sleeves when you go there! Very good value for money.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - ESPECIALLY FOR Vegetarians. Great experience all around - service, food, wine list. This place is a "sleeper" on recommended lists

Our wedding anniversary is on Christmas Eve and it’s often challenging to find a restaurant that is open and offering a menu and service that hasn’t slipped owing to the holidays. It’s been hit and miss over the years, even at expensive, Michelin-starred restaurants. Fortunately, we chose well this year, and OPUS was simply magnificent. The team simply could not have created a more enjoyable experience.
The room is fairly small and elegant, with barely a dozen tables. This creates the sense of intimacy and calm that I have found typical of the best restaurants. The noise level is perfect, with conversations conducted with ease.
The Christmas Eve menu was a five course seasonal tasting menu with accompanying wine pairings. An amuse bouche was followed by lobster, Danube salmon, venison, a chocolate dessert, and Christmas cookies. All were wonderful, with the venison filet a particular favourite. The wines were all Austrian, and all were a pleasant surprise: light, dry, and perfectly matched to the food.
The service was exceptional: attentive and friendly but not intrusive. Each course was explained, each wine introduced. I should mention that we hadn’t told OPUS it was our anniversary, but the hotel had clearly passed on the message and our Christmas cookies were discretely augmented with an Imperial torte (yum).
OPUS was easily of the highlights of our stay in Vienna. The fact they managed such an experience on Christmas Eve, when so many other high-profile restaurants have stumbled, suggests exceptional attention to standards and customer service. When we return to Vienna, we will return to OPUS and the Imperial Hotel.
