Finally went to RH after hearing mixed reviews We had the truffle fries, artichoke, and salmon. The fries itself were very plain, not very crispy and there was not much truffle flavor. Artichoke was crispy with a hint of sweet. The broiled salmon wasn't extraordinary. The service was also on the slower side. The ambiance is the best part. I may come back to try some other dishes but was underwhelmed by this first visit. And felt the price did not justify the value

If the rating was based off of looks, this would get five out of five stars. Unfortunately, they put all their energy into the look of the place, and all the other things fell by the wayside. The weirdest part is you can't even get a cocktail unless it's on their specific menu. The service was very slow, and the martinis were served in a cup. I don't even remember the food lol. But like I said, it looks amazing.

I had a fabulous girls' night out at a restaurant we've wanted to try for a while, and it exceeded our expectations. We started with flavorful lobster rolls and enjoyed the rich caviar and chips. The steak was juicy and tender, while the lamb chops were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. And let's not forget the cookies--they were the perfect sweet ending! The heaters kept us warm, but the red light killed my photos. The restaurant's ambiance was truly captivating. Our waiter was really cool too.

My brunch experience with RH was honestly exactly what I expected/assumed. The ratings here are very much gonna be reflected in your experience. The ambiance here is carrying for the whole place. You're paying for the aesthetic, the view, and the perceived food quality. You're not paying for anything extraordinary, any over the top customer service, etc. I understand that an upscale place like this might be sourcing better ingredients, has a high rent to pay, believes its clientele "can pay", etc. However, $8.50 for an iced vanilla latte is outlandish. Not to mention, the coffee/tea menu is not offered during brunch, so you're not even seeing the price you're gonna pay. Additionally, my friend asked to substitute the meat on his plate for a vegetarian option. The meat was removed from the dish and half an avocado was given. Instead of being transparent, they charged an additional price as if it were a side AND didn't bring the protein that would originally come with the dish. Finally, the pricing discrepancies among the dishes overall doesn't make sense. Some items are simply pancakes or waffles w no sides and are the same price as dishes that have several sides that are included. I don't know if this place is banking on folks not reviewing their bill, but it should do better.
Loved the lunch over Labor Day weekend.
So happy to finally try the tasty food at this beautiful location. My daughter booked this reservation for us and we were both excited since we'd been trying off and on since February. After a short wait, we were seated at a great table. Our server was friendly and when she introduced herself I thought we'd have her as our server for our entire time. But, I don't recall seeing her again after we placed our order. The team of servers that brought our food, desserts, to-go containers and bill were friendly and great also. I loved the rib-eye dip sandwich and the sweet potato fries we shared. I only ate half the sandwich and was full. My daughter really enjoyed her lobster roll, and the sweet potato fries we shared, but she was hungry again about an hour later. We also shared a wonderful caramel banana sundae. Neither of us were big fans of the aperol spritz, but we also don't love orange. My daughter just wanted to try it cause it was on her list of drinks to try. I liked my peach Bellini though it was unexpectedly thick, and gave me smoothie vibes. I prefer a lite, sparkling peach Bellini with fresh peach in it. So, we weren't big fans of our drinks.

Wow! Who serves a $44 piece of fish with the head on and body intact! It was served completely black from the charring. Absolutely disgusting presentation!!!! I was so sick to my stomach I had to leave. The chef should be fired. Service was dismal as well. Lastly, no view!
What an amazing experience at RH Newport Beach.
Having severe shellfish allergy and going to a seafood restaurant made me slightly nervous. But our server Nathan made it all possible as he took extra precautions and assured me my foods would be made with my allergy in mind. It's a gorgeous venue as you walk in, warm and inviting with high ceiling and gorgeous chandeliers. Restaurant is on the 4th floor with elevator option for those preferred. Indoor and outdoor seating is very similar as the entire restaurant is housed in clear glass windows, absolutely stunning! The caviar and chip dip was my favorite! I couldn't stop eating. Caesar salad was perfectly dressed and delicious. Fried artichokes was a snack you can't stop snacking. My friends had the salmon and toro cones and mini lobster rolls, all were delicious. Burrata was so creamy. I finished the gem salad all by myself. We also had the branzino, RH burger, and rotisserie chicken, all were juicy flavorful and cooked to perfection. We ended the night with a must get dessert, banana split. Cannot wait to be back with more friends!! Shoutout to Nathan again for the excellent service.
RH Ocean Grill in Newport Beach is such a gem.
The views are stunning, the atmosphere is clean, elegant, and relaxing, and the space feels thoughtfully designed. I came for weekend brunch and every single plate was delicious. The food is simple yet prepared perfectly, and the flavors really shine. A beautiful spot to enjoy a meal with great ambiance and excellent service.

I loved my first experience so took the family back for our 25th anniversary! Again love the decor , food is good , though I think the plating could be nicer for the price! I agree they need to work on the hostess check in ! Not friendly or welcoming ! Waiters and waitress are great !

Beautiful view perfect weather, unfortunately not a great experience. I understand everything is a la carte, that said when we asked to order bread our server stated it may take awhile. Salad came our entree was served no bread. Entree's were decent, but not worth the expensive cost. Ordered coffee after our meal, cold coffee. This place needs to do better. I should have read reviews.
DON'T EVEN BOTHER
The place is gorgeous and it's the only good thing about it. SERVICE SUCKS. We were a group of 4, thursday evening. Waited 25 minutes to get our drinks, and the waitress kept pressuring us to order food (which we firmly said no, no food without drinks first!) and she kept saying: the kitchen is really back up. Well, not my problem! Drinks came, we ordered food. ONE HOUR to get our food. One of my friend's is severely allergic to dairy and we clearly let the waitress know beforehand. Her french fries came covered in parmesan cheese. Waitress never, EVER, asked if everything was ok, if we wanted anything else, etc. Mind you, one friend ordered $115 steak! I paid $80 for a glass of wine and a sandwich. Price wouldn't be an issue (even with mediocre food) if the service was good. Never coming back, and I'll be warning others not to waste their time or money here.
Great location, bad food
Beautiful location with good vibe but embarrassingly bad food. The lobster roll literally had less than six ounces of lobster meat and every other bite tasted dirty. The side order of broccolini had no taste and was undercooked; it literally looked like it had just been thrown on the grill and then the plate. For $200.00/two with only one drink each you can do much, much better.
Do not go if you are a brown person.
Unfortunately there were very few non- white people and our treatment leads us to conclude we were not welcome. We arrive for our reservation and get seated after five parties and 25 minutes after our reservation time. When we did get seated we were sat all the way in back out of view of the rest of the restaurant. Then after another 20 minutes our server comes. An hour into sitting down weโve only had one appetizer. Then we call for a manager, see our server speak with him. And then I have to get up to just ask for our check after no one again comes to check up on us. Save your money if you are a brown person.
Absolutely a disastrous joke
What a joke. So much hype and so much disappointment. Our reservation was 2:30 pm for 2 people. We were seated at 3:10. The place was pure chaos. Not sure if they overbook, don't have enough competent servers or are just complete morons. The hostesses, yes there were more than 3 checking people in, were frazzled and never once said we are sorry, or we are running behind. We were ignored. They literally would not make eye contact. The food was TERRIBLE. A plain hamburger that looked like any other fast food place. And the salad that had velveeta cheese cubes was laughable. Our unenthusiastic sweaty server came back to our table one time to ask if we needed an ice tea refill or how the food was. It would have been more fun to throw $110 out of my car window. The esthetics are phenomenal. Beautiful view. Gorgeous decor. Just walk through and look, then keep walking out the door.
Disappointing
Food was good but overpriced. The restaurant even charges a โmandates chargeโ of 4%. I asked the server what that charge represented but he had difficulty explaining it. Service was average. The diet soda mix was off and didnโt taste good. The million dollar view of the ocean and the harbor was obstructed by a hedge. The noise level was loud and annoying.
Horrible experience and attitude
So this was my first time at this restaurant and I wanted to try it out to host my husbandโs birthday party coming up. Unfortunately, we were given a waiter that after four times of his reiterating and answering his question of what type of water we wanted, which was still, he brought us sparkling water. He never smiled. He had some kind of attitude and was very slow and rude. A trainee waitress helped us bringing us some lemons and she was polite and warm and friendly and much more on top of things. I then asked if we could change waiters and we had three people waiting on us and provided great service and the food was delicious. I will say that there was somewhat of an attitude here. After spending $160 for lunch with one bottle of water and no other drinks, no appetizers no dessert no coffee, I accidentally left my expensive Designer sunglasses on the table after we paid the bill. I returned to the table within three minutes, those sunglasses were gone and the waitress that we ended up with that still had an attitude said she hasnโt seen any glasses. I clearly left them on the table and there was no one else around except the waitresses. I had to rush off to a work event and called and asked to speak to a general manager to discuss the situation and experience. Again with the attitude on the phone, I was told a leader would call me back. Of course I never received a call even though I said it was urgent. Not only did this restaurant lose my business, but the 75 people that I spoke to at my work event I told them all about the negative experience I am sharing it here and they lost a lot of business with me bringing a large birthday party there. Shame on them for their attitude and lack of service.
Not going again
Setting is good. Decor decent. Blocking the view of the ocean from every table is a stupid move. Staff is not prompt or caring. Establishment tries to generate a patina of exclusivity by making guests wait 30 minutes past reservation time to be seated. And food comes out too slow for the same reason. Food is just acceptable. I cancelled my next reservation here.
Overrated Restaurant
We finally managed to snag a reservation at this location, and I have to say the view is absolutely stunning. I really love the concept, but I wasnโt too thrilled about the lack of a sit-down bar. Instead, they have a coffee and wine section where you can order wine or an Aperol Spritz. Guests are encouraged to walk around and explore the beautiful display of high-end RH furniture, which is honestly a fun experience on its own. They didnโt seem to mind when we made ourselves comfortable on one of the cozy display couches. Once we sat down, our server mentioned that I could order select cocktails from the menu but hereโs the catch, youโre not allowed to walk around the RH floors with a hard cocktail. You can only enjoy them when seated for a meal. That was a bit of a letdown for me. Lol. For starters, I ordered what everyone seems to rave about which was the mini lobster rolls from the Caviar Specialties section. I really donโt get the hype. They were bland, and the caviar didnโt elevate the flavor at all. On the bright side, the crispy artichoke was delicious, lightly fried, flaky, and full of flavor. I also tried the grilled shrimp and warm vegetable salad. While it had good potential, it was way too salty. My throat was suffering all night from the sodium overload. Unfortunately, this feels like a one-and-done food experience for me. There are so many incredible restaurants in OC that check all the boxes, and this just wasnโt it. I can see this place being a nice spot for brunch or maybe drinks with a view, but not much more.
Family Rooftop Dinner
Venue was beautiful. A tour of RH before dinner was like walking through an art exhibit. It was anticipated based on location and did not disappoint. Dinner was excellent and service was great. I loved my Lamb chops. We visited without reservations and was seated outside with an overhead heating lamp. Thank you Max for getting us the table. Weโll be back!
HORRIBLE FOOD!
Absolute crap!!! Beautiful environment, decent service and horrible cafeteria level food. I'm not exaggerating, it's that bad! Yo RH, stick to making furniture or pay a chef that knows what they're doing to fix your menu! Your ambiance will only carry you so far! What a waste of a great evening!
