Absolutely disgusted by the service at Riverhill today.
I had lunch with my friend and my husband had returned from Christmas shopping in Glasgow to pick me up. The very rude waiter told us that he could not sit down for 5 minutes whilst we paid our bill. He said that all the tables were booked, yet the restaurant was empty. He could have asked him to sit at the bar? He was extremely rude and followed us out of the restaurant and was being rather aggressive. Absolutely shocked at his behaviour. Will definitely not be returning here.

Happened upon this lovely restaurant today when I was walking around town. What a find! It's a gorgeous building and it has a wonderful atmosphere. Even more of a bonus was the fantastic food. I had the curry of the day, a chicken masala served with rice and poppadoms. It was out of this world! My dad's fish portion of his fish and chips was small for a lunch portion, but he enjoyed it.

A lovely sunny day called for a jaunt Doon the Watter to Helensburgh. Famed for its fish and chips and ice cream, we decided for a bit more of a sophisticated lunch. Riverhill is set one street back from the promenade down a quaint little lane. It is a bright and airy space and the delightful staff took no time at all in greeting us. The menu had a wide and varied selection of unusual but tasty sounding meals. I opted for the Moroccan eggs on sourdough. This dish was flavoursome and unusual. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the spices on the peppers provided a totally different taste to anything I'd had before. We shared some halloumi fries which were fab, though the romesco sauce was a little dry with the cheese. My friend had the chicken shawarma wrap which looked incredible but fell apart on any attempts to pick it up. She said it was still delicious though. Can't wait to come back for dinner to try out their amazing sounding cocktails!

Have eaten here several times recently, and love their slightly unusual menu. The chicken shawarma is fantastic, homemade flatbreads, etc. It's a lovely ambience with the only gripe being how bloomin long they take to bring your bill - actually had to go and hunt someone down last time. Otherwise, fantastic!

I've not visited either of the Glasgow Riverhills, but after a lovely lunch in Helensburgh will give them a try! My brother and I suggested to my Grandpa we visit here and we're not disappointed. It's a bit difficult for my grandpa on a walking stick to get to as you have a 100m walk on cobbles but the interior is worth it. It's an old yard almost with high ceilings and still brick walls. About 8 tables downstairs and a huge upstairs seating area with the kitchen in full view. I loved the blackboard with all the menu items. I had an incredible crayfish and rocket sandwich which was huge! Personally would have preferred it open to having two slices of toasted bread. My brother said his Philly steak sandwich was awesome and he admitted to being full, no mean feat. My grandpa had the soup which came super quickly (always good as my grandpa liked quick service), and a huge portion of fish and chips. As in two fillets of chips and thick chunky chips. For anyone wondering, they don't serve ginger ale which disappointed my grandpa. They are also opening in the evenings for market meals!
