Before trekking on down here, you should know that about
Before trekking on down here, you should know that about 80% of the menu items contain some kind of fish on them. Great for me, but my partner didn't feel great about his options. Luckily we found things to order we'd both enjoy... I had the eggs benny, which came with smoked salmon, poached egg and dreamy hollandaise on the perfect piece of challah bread. I thoroughly enjoyed each bite. My partner ordered the Latkes with apple sauce and it was the the light breakfast he was looking for. Somethings to know about the space, its bright and cute, but small... don't come here with a big party unless you're willing to wait 45-60 minutes. Can't wait to come back and try a few more things.
Be the first to ReplyWe were in town for Easter weekend.
I got lazy so had it delivered to the hotel, I was worried about losing some of the quality but laziness won (it usually does ). We ordered a few Dr.Browns sodas and I got the classic which is an everything bagel/lox/capers/red onion/plain cream cheese . To say it was the best bagel I've ever had would be an understatement . It was also the best lox I've ever had. That bagel and that fish are perfect. There's nothing to change. Just enjoy !!
Be the first to Replyi will still go back because i do enjoy this place.
but wow. i was frankly blown away by the bafflingly low quality bagel i was served. excellent lox. but.... also abysmal borscht and BAD coffee! guys!?! get it together!
Be the first to ReplyThis is an excellent spot for amazing and flavorful
This is an excellent spot for amazing and flavorful food! I'd been here before and it was nice to return and enjoy the great offerings. I went for the Classic Board and it did not disappoint - it included a fresh bagel and wonderful smoked salmon with all the accompaniments. Everything tasted great and one can tell that the quality is top-notch. The setting is like a chic diner - it's a wonderful space to be in. We experienced warm and friendly service...the host and server treated us very well and it helped to ensure a memorable experience. This place is very popular, so make sure to plan accordingly; if you arrive at typical brunch times, expect a long wait.

Worth traveling across town for ! I actually found their other location first, which seemed more like a grab-and-go kind of place - it had a line out the door so I decided to pass. Then I found this location and I'm so glad I did ! (They're actually relatively close to each other which is awesome) Seating & wait time I was alone and the wait was about 30ish minutes. However, I got a text from them maybe 10 minutes later that my seat was ready. Luckily I hadn't wandered too far ! They don't have much of a waiting area at the restaurant so I recommend walking around a bit They have stool seating at the bar which is where I sat. Each spot does have hooks under the bar to hang your belongings. They also have table and booth seating further into the restaurant. Staff: They have the most friendly and up beat staff I've ever seen! Everyone was very sweet and welcoming. They also joked around with each other and generally seemed to have a good time working there. Food: I opted for the basic board with salmon. There were so many delicious looking options, but I felt (being alone) that a lot of the options would have been too much for me and better shared. That being said I definitely need to come back with a friend or two to experience more of the menu! Everything on my board was so fresh and flavorful! From the everything bagel to the onions to the salmon. Honestly it blew my mind how such a simple order could be so delicious I also ordered a tea and was given my own small pot. That was great with it being a cold & rainy day. When you sit down you're immediately given a whole bottle of still water which is nice too. Overall this place was amazing and I highly recommend it ! I can't wait to come back!

I enjoyed my experience here, it was nice to have a place to sit and my bagel was SO FIRE! The service was also good.

Be prepared to wait BUT there are tons of coffee shops nearby and they'll text you when your tables ready. Sunday brunch at 11:30am PEAK time for Russ and Daughters but I put my name down met my friend at La Colombe had a coffee and about an hour later I got the text. We ordered latkes and a classic to share it was more food than we needed (bc we ordered an extra bagel on the side). The break fast martini was GREAT and on the stiffer side. Love sitting at the counter if it's just 2 of us, bartenders always great and the vibes are so classic New York.

.those delicious hot cross buns, delightful 7 inch chocolate chip cookies and the bread ooh la la Since 1965 till you closed you will be missed...

Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a decent experience. Russ & Daughters is in the Lower East side and is featured in the Michelin guide as a Bib Gourmand. The cafe was super clean and modern with elevated pricing. Staff wore a white Russ & Daughters lab coat as their front of the house uniform. Ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and it was decent. The bread was freshly cut and the smoked salmon was fragrant with the taste of preservatives. The actual poached egg was decent although I've had better. Their hollandaise sauce was good and not too heavy. Service by the staff was quick and efficient. $31/head for breakfast after tax and gratuity
Be the first to ReplyHad a great brunchie vibe with my friends.
Service was nice and the ambiance was very bright and clean. I shared my meal with a friend and it was a good amount of food (not too full, but not craving anything else.) I probably wouldn't return, but I enjoyed my meal.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance and the food itself are fantastic.
Wish I could've had one of everything on the menu. It's not going to be your cheapest breakfast/brunch/etc., but that's to be expected with deli fare. To return for another meal!
Be the first to ReplyThe salmon was delish, the bagel was meh.
More hype than it's worth. Glad to have tried it during brunch with a friend but 2 open face salmon bagels with coffee was $50 and way more than what it's worth. Nice atmosphere and really attentive staff. Note if you ask for extra cream cheese, they'll charge you.
Be the first to ReplyWe came around 8:30AM and there was no wait.
The service was great and our food came out within 10 minutes! The classic salmon board was really good and a must try if you come here! I didn't think I would like it but the smoked salmon/onion/tomato combo was perfect. I really liked being able to put together my bagel too. The green onion cream cheese spread made the bagel even better. I'd also recommend asking for pickled onions to add to your board. I did not enjoy the blintzes due to the cheese texture but my friends liked it. IG: tiffsfoodreview

What a wonderful experience my buddy Stu and I had at Russ & Daughters Cafe. Never been to the restaurant only the Appetizing Store. We both ordered The board with nova and goat cheese cream cheese. Absolutely delicious. With tomatoes onions and capers. Our sever was a young woman who was phenomenal. They served us complimentary seltzer water. We both had a wonderful experience. Thank you so much Russ & Daughters
Be the first to ReplyThe food was delicious.
My first time there. New bar set and hoping to be able to enjoy this place again soon.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed this place but it didn't quite live up to
I really enjoyed this place but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We got the classic and the potato latkes with salmon roe. The everything bagel was just alright -- I honestly didn't see anything special about it and it doesn't compare to the other iconic bagel places in NYC like Tompkins or Brooklyn Bagel. It went very well with the salmon and cream cheese though. The latkes were good, although I found them to be a little dry on their own. The salmon roe was delicious, and paired really well with the crème fraiche.Great place for a satisfying breakfast, but I wouldn't rave about it.
Be the first to ReplyWent to Russ and Daughters in New Years Eve with the Family.
..Being New Years Eve, I felt a bit celebratory and decided to go big and ordered the soft scrambled eggs with Caviar and Champagne. Unbelievably delicious and worth every penny! We'll be back!

A great alternative to standing in line at the original Houston St. spot. You're going to pay a little more, and truth be told, a fancy board is not how I prefer my bagel sandwiches, but it's fun to feel a little fancy now and again, especially when the food is this good. The expanded menu is good too -- the latkes and matzo ball soup are great. And the desserts are not to be missed, especially the halva ice cream (the texture is a little weird, but I still like it).
Be the first to ReplyWent here on a Tuesday morning.
Seated at the counter after a 20 minute or so wait. I got a molasses egg cream, yummy. Husband got coffer soda. It was so good we asked how to make it at home. Shared a knish and a bialy platter. The lightest bialy I every had. Salmon was melt in your mouth. Worth every penny. Also tried the pickled herring trio, which looked so pretty, but we just could not stomach it. Nothing bad about it, just came to the conclusion that pickled herring is not for us. Got raspberry rugelach to go. Can't wait to go back.

They've done a fantastic job with the space, giving it the full retro diner look, while also staying true to the original R&D; vibe. They serve breakfast all day, including eggs, bagels, smoked fish, matzoh ball soup, and all kinds of Jewish comfort food. All the classic bagel sandwiches come laid out on photogenic wood boards, which you've no doubt seen in your Instagram feed.

My friend recommended this place to me when I was in New York last December since I claimed to have never tried a New York-style bagel. The entire experience was all I could ever ask of a bagel place which exceeded my expectations in EVERY way.QUALITY. I ordered the salmon/sturgeon everything bagel with scallion cream cheese & brought back to my hotel to try. The quality of all parts of the bagel were regal and provide a perfect bite each time. They're not shy with the amount of ingredients, and yet, all the flavors were perfectly balanced and never felt overwhelming. That said, if you're not a huge eater, you can easily share this bagel with someone else or save the other half for the next meal. This place was so good, that I had to order (& split) another similar (except one added fish - so there were 3 types of fish this time instead of 2) order the next day. This time, while just as delicious, it felt like a bit too much fish for me, so I would would prefer my first order going forward.PLEASE do me a favor and try this place & make it your go-to regal bagel experience!
Be the first to ReplyBelow average tasting Bagels.
The hype is real and while visiting NYC we decided to go out of our way and try it. It's a good tasting bagel with smoked salmon but we didn't think it was that good to wait in line for 30 min not to mentioned it's prices. We would pay even more if we were blown away by it but we had better bagels in many other places. Would not go back.
Be the first to ReplyPoppy seed bagel and scallion cream cheese.
Best bagel I've had. I ordered online for pickup and you actually have to get it at their other location around the building. Very nice service and they have an extra bagel :)
Be the first to ReplyOur order:- everything bagel, pastrami lox, scallion cream
Our order:- everything bagel, pastrami lox, scallion cream cheese, tom, onion, capers- pumpernickel bagel, pastrami lox, horseradish dill cream cheese, onion, capersReview -- if half stars were available it'd be 3.5 --Ordering online and picking the order up outside the shop was convenient and safe. The order wait time for pickup at 11:30am on a Saturday was an hour. The food was definitely good, however we weren't impressed with the bagels. We've had better at random bodegas and elsewhere. I intentionally ordered a pumpernickel bagel because I was expecting a strong flavor, but it was super subtle if anything at all. The pastrami lox was definitely delicious and good quality. But overall a $43 meal of just two bagelsl sandwiches and an hour wait -- my opinion is save your money and time and go somewhere else that is decent.

Russ and Daughters was not very friendly and although their website says a seated cafe, they were not accommodating. They made us order online from a QR code outside and it was cold and rainy. I personally heard the owner say that it was much easier to do take out that they were going to ride that wave as long as they could. I was disappointed in the customer service as I had traveled a long way to visit the establishment. They need to update their website to "online orders only". The owner was snarky and unfriendly as well. I don't think it's going anywhere but maybe they will cheer up a little and be nice sometime soon.
