Disappointing
It's a nice place to sit and have a cup of coffee, but as far as baked goods go, I was disappointed. What I had (bread and a pastry) weren't bad, they just weren't that good. Very white flour. This place has a big reputation, and the staff are clearly aware of that, result being something of a superior attitude. I was sad. I had heard about this place and had been looking forward to getting there. Now that I've been, I won't bother going back.
Be the first to ReplyGood, though not huge selection of baked goods
Stopped here for dessert after eating lunch nearby. Tried the chocolate chip cookies which are very thin and quite tasty (see picture below). Other baked goods are available, though desserts are not as extensive as at some area bakeries. Also possible to dine in.

...and in talking about it later. We have been three times in two weeks. Here's what we have loved so far: *cortados *lattes *tomato soup *olive bread *baguettes *the aforementioned pillow bread (levain) *gracious staff * enough space to spread out away from folks. I'm hoping we go back.

We stopped by before heading to our destination as we thought they would run out of things if we got there later and am glad we did! There was a line out the door after we got there. They have a good selection of pastries and we got a variety to try. Some savory and some sweet. Vanilla bean scone, cherry frangipane, and I can't remember the others. However, all the pastries were delicious! Good and flaky! The scone was a little dry and you could not taste the vanilla but the rest was great. If in the area I would definitely suggest stopping by.(Christa)
Be the first to ReplyGreat bread.
We stopped in to get a quick breakfast. The most reasonably priced item was the lox and cream cheese on a bagel, which was excellent. The bagel was fresh and chewy. The lox and shmear made even better with a touch of dill and white onion. Our only complaint: for not being very busy, it took about 15 minutes for staff to bring our order. Couldn't resist the Miche, a French sourdough made with a starter rather than yeast. Brought it home and am still enjoying it. Looking forward to trying many of their other breads and pastries.

Non distinct breakfast sandwich and stale chocolate croissant. Latte was good but actually the employees are so rude that even if the coffee and the food was delicious I wouldnโt go back.

Excellent bread. All the chocolate eclairs sold out while I was thereโthey are a favorite. Various size tables so whether itโs 2 or 8, thereโs a table for you

And by that I mean itโs great if you live nearby but I wouldnโt say you need to go out of your way to come here. The bread and pastries look great and the coffee is decent, but I can find places closer to my home that are equally as satisfying. Not that there is anything wrong except that they need some type of window shading as the sun was glaring inside. The food we ordered was quite good - soup with bread and some breakfast food. Coffees, too. The place is pretty basic and didnโt match the name or really what we expected. I joked it wasnโt rustic enough to which my daughter said it would need an exposed brick wall or something to match. Thought that was funny. Staff was quite nice. Parking available but pretty full on a Sunday.
Be the first to ReplySuch a long line, but worth the wait!
We stopped by here on a Sunday morning and the line was long, but moved quickly, and the taste and quality of their baked goods made it very much worth the wait. This was my first visit here, but hopefully not my last!
