Salt+ is on my regular rotation of restaurants in Lakewood.
I have never had a bad thing on the menu. They have vegan and gluten free options, deliciously crafted cocktails, and an atmosphere for a casual night out or date night. Come out and support this woman owned restaurant. You won't be disappointed!
Be the first to ReplySalt+ in Lakewood is a hidden gem.
It's a casual spot with a rustic-chic ambiance, and the menu features composed small plates. paired with a killer cocktail menu and a unique selection of wines. The ambiance is chic yet comfortable, with a vibrant bar area and a dining room that sets the stage for a cozy evening. The staff work hard to show off their creativity with recommendations and attentive service. The menu features creative items like white bean purée, corn fritters, calamari, potato beignet, and wild boar osso buco. Each plate is crafted to deliver bold flavor. The pork belly, lamb meatballs with polenta, and crayfish tails are also not to be missed dishes. The cocktails are also creative and delicious, with likes of Cruisers Creek and Vieux Carré with boozy and bold kick. Salt+ is a standout restaurant in Lakewood that promises an amazing experience with its small plates, excellent service, and a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.

This is definitely a great spot for a special occasion! My partner and I came for an anniversary dinner and it was a great choice. Salt had a nice atmosphere with dim lighting. The service was great and our server answered any questions we had with great expertise. In terms of food, the dishes are separated on the menu by vegetables/fish/meat, based on the base of the dish. I would definitely recommend getting something from each section if you don't have any dietary restrictions. Otherwise, this restaurant is quite vegetarian-friendly. My favorite dishes were the quail and the mushroom toast. We got the honey cake for dessert which was tasty and unique. Overall, I wasn't blown away by any particular dish, but everything was generally pretty tasty.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing experience! We came here for an anniversary
What an amazing experience! We came here for an anniversary dinner and have absolutely no regrets. Something that immediately stood out to me was the spacing of the tables. The concern here is not how many people can fit into the restaurant, rather how those who are here can enjoy their evening and have a nice conversation. I really enjoyed how I did not have to yell in order to be heard by my partner, and I did not accidentally listen in to other conversations. Service was amazing and our server was incredibly knowledgeable about drinks and dishes. She recommended the Brussels sprouts which ended up being one of our favorite dishes of the night. Between the two of us, we ordered six dishes that came out in a preplanned order. I highly highly recommend the white bean puree as it's one of the only staples on this menu for a reason. The Brussels sprouts were also a must try. While the meats and fish dishes were incredible, I personally felt that their vegetable dishes were the star of the night. Overall, it's very clear that Salt takes the overall experience of a dinner very seriously and if you're looking for an experience and not just a meal, definitely come check this place out
Be the first to ReplyMy girlfriend took me there when we were in Cleveland.
The food was great, the waitstaff was attentive and the atmosphere was romantic. We were both very pleased and had a fantastic time.
Be the first to ReplyI went a few years ago and it was truly phenomenal.
It's very expensive and the portions are small so be sure to save up maybe $200 but the experience is totally worth the treat. Wonderful service and environment
Be the first to ReplyHeard great things about this restaurant so we came to
Heard great things about this restaurant so we came to check it out while visiting from LA. The interior is nice and sleek, it has an upscale feel that really distinguishes it from other Lakewood spots. The menu is full of small plates, and the recommendation is to get 2-3 a person. We ordered 6 plates for 2 people and wished we had cut a few. The honest answer is that some of them were great and some of them were just okay. Overall, we were happy enough with our meal, but not sure it was worth the $100 price tag. Service was pretty good. Our favorite dish was the white bean puree - loved how flavorful it was. The one dish we both agreed we could've done without was the smoked sea bream -- to us, the leek crema and roe just didn't feel like they complimented the taste of the fish well. We found it a bit lacking. Our favorite dishes were all the vegetable plates, and if we came back I'd probably concentrate on those.

Yum. Great food and service in a sultry atmosphere complete with live music (on a Tuesday!). Tapas style shared plates. Enjoyed every bite and sip.
Be the first to ReplyWe have been to Salt+ many times and we've always enjoyed
We have been to Salt+ many times and we've always enjoyed the food and service. It's been fresh and high-quality, well worth the price. The majority of our meal this night was very good, but we were also very disappointed in two of the dishes. I don't recall being disappointed with any dish in the past... The grilled prawns, beets, grouper (amazing!), Wagyu skirt steak, and smoked pork tenderloin were wonderful! However, the crispy artichokes were disappointing. We expected fresh artichokes, but instead we were served briny, canned or bottled artichokes. We looked forward to the goat cheese cheesecake for dessert, expecting a wedge of cheesecake. Instead, we were brought this tiny, preformed graham cracker shell filled with a minuscule amount of whipped goat cheesecake filling. Huge disappointment! When the server had asked how things were I expressed that we were expecting a slice of cheesecake. She explained that it was a no-bake cheesecake. That should've been on the menu. I would never have ordered it if I knew it was a no-bake cheesecake. The filling had a good flavor, but not the texture nor type we expected. Please consider updating your dessert menu to include the words "No bake" to the description. I hope the new business ventures don't interfere with the exceptional quality Salt+ has been known for.

The food is very thought out and the craft cocktails are delicious as well. I just wish the portions were a little bigger. I know it's just small plates but it's expensive there and I just wish you got more food for the amount of money that you spend.
Be the first to ReplyWe had to give this one a 3, it just didn't live up to all
We had to give this one a 3, it just didn't live up to all of the great press. We came in for dinner on a Saturday night at around 5:45pm for our anniversary. It's a cozy looking interior, but I will say, it was actually pretty cold in there- most of the ladies in the restaurant kept jackets or coats over their shoulders. Our waitress was friendly, and she offered us a free drink since it was a special occasion. For food, between the 2 of us we ordered 9 of the dishes to share (they recommend about 3 dishes for each person). We got the white bean puree, the beets, oyster mushroom kebabs, trout, grilled sardines, ostrich, schnitzel, lamb neck shawarma, and chicken liver pate. Most of the food was okay, we just weren't especially blown away by anything, and most of it was overpriced for the quantity and originality of the food. For example, the mushrooms were tasty but there were 2 skewers, and literally you could finish the whole plate full in 1 bite... The beets were tasty, but I've basically created the same dish at home without even thinking, and it was way cheaper. The meats were good, our favorite being the lamb. Our favorite dish of the night was the trout which had a nice crispy skin, and the bed of lentils was a nice complement. The low of the meal was definitely the sardines. To be fair, our waitress did warn us that they come head and all, just simply grilled. My husband really disliked the dish. It didn't bother me as much, but my main gripe was that they were a little to big of fish to just chew the bones to stop you from choking, but they were a little small to definitively debone at the table... Just not something I'd put on the menu if this were my restaurant. The food was just okay, but our overall experience was just sprinkled with small inconveniences. The actual dishes the food was served in were hard to get food out of (90 degree edges to the lips of the plates which would catch food in them; no spoon to clean a puree out of a bowl), and the silverware left much to be desired (the handle for the knives is so stupid. You'll see if you come here, it stacks with the fork pretty, but it's just clumsy to use. Also, definitely does NOT cut tougher meats. For example, the ostrich was nearly impossible to cut with the knives at the table, and they do not bring out a steak knife with that dish). Our last gripe was the pacing of the meal. Our waitress was very confident when she seated us that she would pace out the meal to make it a very enjoyable experience. Our first 3 or 4 dishes came out perfectly, just as we finished one, we received our next dish. The last 4 dishes were another story. We had a long lull of maybe 10 minutes without any food, got 2 dishes at once (we like each dish separately so we can finish each while it is still fresh and hot), had ANOTHER lull of at least 10 minutes, and then got our next 2 dishes at the same time. I wouldn't be as hard on them about that, except that the waitress seemed to take a lot of pride in how she thought she'd be able to pace the meal.Overall, the food was fine. I just don't understand why this restaurant gets so much praise, especially when there are other restaurants like Jaja, Amba, Cordelia, and Zhug that are all small plates and have more memorable food as well as better value, as the plates at these other restaurants are more sizeable and more shareable. It's not bad, but I would not make a special trip to Lakewood to come here. I'd probably not recommend it to others, and I don't think I'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyI have seen this restaurant in multiple top restaurant in
I have seen this restaurant in multiple top restaurant in Cleveland restaurants and this has been on my list for a while. I had a good experience here. I have to give a special kudos to the drink menu. We tried multiple drinks and they were absolutely delicious! The menu was unique and was more vegetable forward than I anticipated. Almost every dish had a twist or flavor to it that I wasn't expecting. In this way, this menu is going to be memorable for me.

Came in to sit at the bar for a birthday drink and tried the trout. I wish I'd have come back sooner.

This was our second time at Salt and they just don't disappoint. The atmosphere is great, service is wonderful, and I love the food. We ordered 5 small plates to share and it was the perfect amount for the 2 of us! My favorites from this menu were the waygu tenderloin and the skate wing, but everything was delicious. The white bean purée we didn't get this time, but it's always on the menu and is SO good. They change their menu about every 10 weeks. Can't wait to come back for a new menu in the future!

Always a beautiful and tasty extravaganza! Some of the most well composed small plates I've ever had, every time I go there. If you like tasting and sharing little plates of different things, this is the place for you. The cocktails are always amazing too!
Be the first to ReplyIt was not a great experience for a place I was really
It was not a great experience for a place I was really looking forward to trying. I accidentally ordered a non-alcoholic glass of wine -- equal parts my fault and questionable menu design. Over $10 for grape juice and then wondering why the wine was so bad. Oops. The food was also questionable. I like everything and had high expectations but was let down by almost every plate. The wagyu beef was delicious but even the vegetables served with it had a very odd flavor. Some of the plates were simply hard to eat. Cauliflower dolmas, oyster mushrooms, treviso, and skate wing ranged from extremely underwhelming to bad. I love mushrooms and they were on three plates but none of them were cooked well. The trout and the ostrich were both fine. Ambiance was great, wait staff was mediocre. None of the food wowed. Felt like a waste overall and likely won't be going back. Maybe I'll give them another try when they change their menu.

I came here with some girlfriends last night and haven't been there in a very long time. I absolutely loved everything I tried, and the menu was so well done. I tried the beets, the white bean purée, and the beef Wagyu, all were absolutely delicious! They also have hand crafted cocktails and a great selection of beer and wine. It is a little pricey and I would say it's a fancy place so dress casual but nice. A great date night spot too! I'm so lucky that this place is less than a five minute drive from my house! Great service, food, drinks, location and atmosphere! :-)

Great food and great ambience! I was looking for a very different restaurant to celebrate a birthday and this was perfect. Definitely check it out if you are reading these reviews and wondering if you should go or not. The plates are small plates but depending on which one you get, some are bigger than the others. Drinks are great and strong so they don't cheat you on the alcohol. Again, even though it was small plates - we ordered 6 plates in total and was full/content. Would definitely go back as the menu changes.
Be the first to ReplySolid restaurant with friendly service and great vibes
Solid restaurant with friendly service and great vibes whether date night or night out with friends. The small plates are inventive and well curated. We loved the lamb shawarma, trout with lentils, monkfish liver, steak, calamari and bean dip. The only thing I didn't love were the cocktails- they were a little too sweet for my taste. However if you like your cocktails sweet then this may be perfect for you. I ended up switching to wine and was very happy with their selection. Would definitely return!

Salt was a cozy, romantic spot for a date night with my boyfriend. The service is excellent! Toni, our server, knowledgeably and pleasantly answered all of our first-timer questions. She also helped us pick out a bottle of wine, suggesting something we've never had, and she was right-it was delicious. The food is served small-plate style so you're likely going to want to order several and share. The braised short rib, the branzini and the mushrooms were some of my favorite dishes. We even ordered dessert, which we almost never do. It was all delicious. Water was filled consistently, too! They have a few constant menu items but otherwise, the menu changes which is going to make you want to come back often! And this place is female-owned which makes me even happier. Enjoy!!

We had an AMAZING celebration dinner here with a large group and our waitress, Toni, was fantastic . The cocktails and small plates were delicious and I could not recommend this place enough. My personal favorite was the oxtail tostada. Well done, Salt! Can't wait to visit again.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious large-for-tapas menu items labeled as small
Delicious large-for-tapas menu items labeled as small plates. We went for the chicken liver pate but they were out of it. The bronzini was seared well with nicely melting carrot butter below and some greasy green beans or snap peas atop. The calamari I wrongly assumed would not be fried given the artisanal, fresh and eclectic nature of the other dishes. It came out as a plate of lightly fried calamari with negligible fruity coconutty glaze which was in too little portion underneath it all. The calamari was good but how great can fried calamari be when it is on every menu everywhere, you know? The best dish was the pork rib which came with slices of asparagus, small rings of pickled onions, and a unique sauce I cannot entirely recall. The meat was in good portion and a nice mix of muscle and fat. The cocktail menu is unique like the food menu which is exciting. Most drinks aren't edit-able even to reduce the sugar which is odd and and prevents people who are used to less sweet drinks or substituting sugar for stevia from trying all they have to offer. I did get them to make me a Bitter Orange with half the maple syrup. It was phenomenal! This place is not cheap. There was live acoustic music unfortunately.

This is a gem hiding in a neighborhood The bartender Cory will serve you killer cocktails and the service is excellent! Taking about the food... what a impressive surprise! When you enter you don't think much about the place but the presentation, flavor combinations are a hit! Perfect portions, and if you like to try a lot of things in the menu this is the perfect place for you! Absolutely a must in Cleveland!
Be the first to ReplyJust the exact vibe I love in a restaurant.
The decor is pretty, but not fancy. The tables are well-spaced. The cocktail are interesting but only $12-14. The plates are "small plates", but definitely have enough to share and won't leave you feeling bloated after. The server was terrific and the service was fast. Would love to return.
