Excellent service, gorgeous interior, delicious menu! Some

5/5 by 👻 @Clio C. on 07/30/2025

Excellent service, gorgeous interior, delicious menu! Some of the drinks were underwhelming but the food we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend the Isaac Becker pizza (it packs a punch and is maybe not for everyone but if you are a little more adventurous I love), the pistachio pasta, and the crudo.

Flavor town with unique menu! Indoor/ outdoor seating.

5/5 by 👻 @Krista F. on 07/12/2025

Food was fresh, delicious, unique and super quick. Must try the mushrooms, pizza and pork gyoza. I also enjoyed the dessert but can't pronounce the name. $10 for valet, must try! I also really liked the wooden presentation cube for check.

We walked in on a Friday night and were able to be quickly

5/5 by 👻 @Victoria W. on 06/20/2025

We walked in on a Friday night and were able to be quickly seated at the bar. Noah, the bartender, was incredibly personable and helpful. Our drinks and food were delicious. I had their spin on a spicy margarita, super tasty but you need to like mezcal in order to enjoy it. The pizza is incredible, with a sweet tomato sauce which I love. Wonderful ambiance and interesting playlist.

I went with a girlfriend at 645 on a Tuesday.

4/5 by 👻 @Laura S. on 06/18/2025

This restaurant is very small, so although they do accept walk ins, I would make a reservation to ensure you get a table. Food 5/5: We went in with the concept of sharing and had the old fashioned, pork gyoza, mentaiko lumache pasta and the Isaac Becker pizza. All of our food came at the same time, so if you want things at different times I would be explicit about that. The gyoza was the perfect balance of flavors and I'd absolutely go back for. The pasta was the perfect umami balance and is elevated with the crunch of the pistachio. The pizza was definitely more than MN spicy, so if you're not a spice fan it would be a no go. Overall well balanced, and the pizza crust was light and fluffy! We were all given a zeppole and it was the most amazing mix between warm and cold! Very well balanced. Service: 4/5. We did have to wait a bit for drinks and food. The waitress thoroughly apologized, and overall it wasn't a huge issue because I had a lot to catch up on with my friend. Other than that, the service was great. The waitress explained the menu to us and was otherwise attentive. Ambiance: 4/5. This is a very small space. If you don't like dining close to other people, this would not be your place. We sat at the chefs counter which was fun to see all the food being made. I was sitting next to someone who was left handed, and I'm right handed, and we bumped into each other a few times. He was very friendly, so overall not a big deal. The plus of sitting close, our neighbors didn't finish their dessert and shared with us. The other thing that felt a little misplaced was the paper menus. It felt very cheap for this elevated space in my opinion. Overall the food was absolutely amazing.

I have been here many times and think the food and service

5/5 by 👻 @Claire L. on 06/11/2025

I have been here many times and think the food and service is very good! The miso pesto pizza is genius and one of my favorites but last night I had the fettuccine which is most expensive pasta on their menu clocking at $47. It is worth every bite. Its a sizable portion and did not leave me completely hungry by the end. The sauce is not like an Alfredo but still creamy. It's very light but yet rich with a generous portion of crab that you can taste the sweetness. Their patio is nice and not too noisy. It had really filled up on a Tuesday night, so please make sure to make a reservation!

Wowwhat an incredible disappointment.

1/5 by 👻 @MIchele D. on 06/02/2025

Upon arrival we, we were greeted by couldn't be bothered to do my job host and hostess after waiting at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes having to endure the over crowded cramped over noisy teeny tiny space that is Sanjusan. Luckily I had booked seating on the outdoor patio and it was a beautiful night. The menu was uninspired which would have fine if the food had been good. The "Meatball" Yakitori (that was really a sausage) was dry and the crudite that went along with it non existent the seafoood in the pasta and on the Pizza were scant whispers of a idea and the cilantro on one of the pizzas was a coplete salad that had been thoughtlessly heaped on. The sausage pizza was cheesey and soggy and both pizzas wet doughy and undercooked. They were too big for one person but too small to split. Our food was not spread out but delivered almost on on top of the otherso we wer rushed through our meal. Our waitress never asked if we wanted more than one beverage, did not smile or did not engage....with us. Our party of 2 was an afterthought to all the other guests, perhaps because I ordered a mocktail (that was very good) an I would have enjoyed a second but could not get her attention and by the time she came back after our pasta and pizza that came out at the same time though she promised us they would not. ANd my husband never got a beer he wanted after he started out with a Diet Coke. We just sort of gave up on trying to have a dining experience once we had the food. it was like - ok lets just get this over with. Worst waitress I think I have ever had. Worst meal I have downtown in our 2 years of Friday night date nights. And that's saying a lot - I usually have some kind of silver lining to walk away with. The weather was beautiful - but Sanjusan gets no credit for that.

I've been here twice now, and think it's officially time

4/5 by 👻 @Macy S. on 05/22/2025

I've been here twice now, and think it's officially time for a review. Both times my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The ambiance, service, and flavors created by Sanjusan are great and stand apart from other restaurants in the area. I've tried quite a lot from this menu now, and can say that their dishes can actually range from very unique to straightforward and classic. During my first dine in, I tried the Isaac Becker, which was an incredible experience of flavors, whereas the Italian Sausage Pizza on my second trip felt just like a really quality, classic sausage pizza (this is a great option if you have a pickier eater dining with you!). As for their starters, there is a lot to offer. The Hiramasa crudo is flavorful and refreshing for summer. Their Gem Salad is perfect. The chicken yakitori is fantastic and flavorful too (specifically the thigh) but very small, as described on the menu. Above all, I think the standout for me is the Mentaiko Lumache. I could eat this pasta weekly- there is something incredibly comporting and nostalgic about this dish that I can't pinpoint. I brought my parents here to show and they felt it too! This spot is truly a gem. My sole, nit-picky complaint is their music that doesn't really compliment the Scandinavian, Hygge environment, but I can get over that some fantastic food!

Came here at another time after a few amazing visits.

3/5 by 👻 @Chara B. on 05/13/2025

.. and it was not as great. For the first time we sat at the bar. The bartenders were SO SO at best. We got sake and our bartender just was not understanding what we were looking for and he even talked to us like we were dumb in terms of the sizes and brought out a shot glass, glass, and carafe. Like dude, we know we get it. Then, he and the main bartender did not communicate well at all and it just was not the normal experience that we have here. Don't need to sit at the bar again...

A REAL taste treat with innovative food!

5/5 by 👻 @Doug B on 12/20/2023

A great, innovative dinner! Both cocktails were excellent (San Jusan Old Fashioned, Hana Hachi), the pork gyoza, yakitori (thigh and meatball) all are innovative and tasty. The past highlight is the lumache! Our server, Makena, guided us through the menu nicely, and was very cordial and professional. An EXCELLENT restaurant. We'll be back again and again.

Different but Delicious

5/5 by 👻 @Laura R on 09/18/2023

This spot is beautiful. The service was impeccable. The food was excellent. It is fusion, but they have several pizzas on the menu for the less adventurous. The food was freshly prepared, and the flavors melded together very well. Everyone was very helpful with the menu.

5/5 by 👻 @kimmysue42 on 01/22/2023

We took the family here for a pre-holiday dinner on a Wednesday night. Pretty snowy Minnesota evening. The place is quaint with views of the kitchen. We had a lovely dinner. We all loved the appetizers, especially the pumpkin futsu tempura! We also had the beef carpaccio & the arancini. For dinner we had the squid ink pappardelle, the spaghetti uni & the artichoke pizza. All had unique flavors & touches. We had some yummy wine and great service. Thanks!

Avoid Dining “Upstairs”

3/5 by 👻 @Philip G on 10/08/2022

I knew we were in trouble when the woman at the front stoically told us we were sitting upstairs and led our group of four to the elevator. As I bid the boisterous main floor goodbye, I realized we were headed to dining purgatory, where Sanjusan sat the overflow diners. My prescience was validated, because the elevator opened up to a funereal space on the fourth floor that could depress a Prozac addict. Two large groups, with at least ten people each, were eating on the fourth floor, a space designed for private parties. Even the large groups were subdued, the room too oppressive for fun. When I asked to be shifted downstairs, the maitre d’ said, “If you want to wait more than an hour.” So much for having a reservation. Do not dine upstairs at Sanjusan. I repeat, run out of the restaurant with the speed of light if they try to seat you upstairs. Our servers, overworked because the kitchen was four floors below, took on the personality of the room. We could hardly hear them, if they spoke. They were ecclesiastical in affect, perfect in a monastery, but perhaps not in a restaurant. The woman serving us drinks acted like the living dead, and if you’re a fan of zombies, may find her provocative. We just found her scary. Food was okay, not particularly memorable, and very expensive. I did enjoy the Arancini and the Gyoza, but our two pastas and the Yakitori were very bland. Drinks were okay, sounding better than they tasted. Service was very slow. It took over an hour past our reservation to get our cocktails, and the appetizers arrived 30 minutes after that. There were long waits between dishes, and the pacing was horrific. By the way, Sanjusan was our most expensive meal during our trip to Minneapolis.

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Sanjusan Minneapolis at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Sanjusan Minneapolis page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* EternalAnt36, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* EternalAnt36 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to EternalAnt36 for any questions Peter may have as EternalAnt36 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* EternalAnt36 now uses their connections at Sanjusan Minneapolis to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If EternalAnt36 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, EternalAnt36 receives the $200 reward which is credited to EternalAnt36's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Sanjusan Minneapolis!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
