Been coming here for about 10years, and it is consistently delicious. I've tried almost all the items on the menu and so many are favorites. Great food and nice staff!
Be the first to ReplyA classic Thai spot.
.a good choice of items on the menu..the food is always good..I come here every year when I'm on my yearly vacation to L.A..I normally order the Boat Noodle with everything, but I have tired other food on the menu and they do not disappoint..some if the food brings me back to my childhood eating some of these dishes..on this day I just did my normal

My family and friends love Sapp Coffee Shop! A small sized restaurant in a small plaza with little parking. The boat noodles had a lot of nice little goodies (rinds, liver, meat, balls, tripe, tendon) that made it fun! The sausage came with the traditional ginger, cabbage, chili, and peanuts. Yummy! Pad Thai was very good! Not something I order often, but friends wanted to try it. There is an egg wrapped on top. Something I don't see very often here. Pad kra pao is always a hit. Pad see ew was standard. Overall, great dishes and flavors. Takes me back home. Good place for authentic Thai food. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyI definitely want to try the pork more in depth next time.
The pad thai was made really well & honestly one of the best thai restaurants i've had. Would definitely come back again to try more. The service was really nice & the atmosphere was friendly. I think the authenticity in Thai food can definitely be found here
Be the first to ReplyHit and miss for this place.
I've been here four times already and the two times I've come the food was great but the other two days, it's like what happened. Like today the boat noodle everything beef, was not as hot as it should have been and I was missing my pork grinds, I asked for no tripe but there were pieces of tripes in it. It kind of ruins your experience when you find out others is getting better quality than what you're receiving . As a restaurant, you should be able to provide consistency when it comes to the food you provide. Like I said hit and miss with this place!
Be the first to ReplyFood is really great (would give them 4+ stars for food)
Food is really great (would give them 4+ stars for food) and I credit what I think has been a change in management. BUT... minus 1 star for the below reason. Dear Management, Can you stop being repeatedly so stingy with providing utensils and condiments! I like your food and I order pick up in store and through Uber Eats. And multiple times, I've had to make this request...In restaurant, your staff would have to open up the stapled paper bag to put in utensils and condiments every time I request it.Today, I ordered delivery and specifically asked for utensils and condiments through the app. And with anticipated frustration, I find nothing. Now I have to go find utensils from somewhere. Stop assuming people are eating your food at their house where utensils are available. Also, Thai food is delicious with condiments, you've prepped them, so why not include them in your orders, especially when specifically requested. Maybe I'm hangry but why are you stepping over dollars to save pennies!
Be the first to ReplyI could have forgiven them the bad service and snotty
I could have forgiven them the bad service and snotty attitude when we tried to order takeout on a busy night when Los Feliz had lost power for the last 16 hours, but after enduring what appeared to be a chaotic and rather unfriendly scene, to add insult to injury or rather injury to insults... The fried rice with alleged mint, chicken, chili, and garlic only had one teeny piece of chicken and just barely any mint.(For some reason Yelp did not upload my picture.)Of course I could only see that after I got home because they had put it into a little box and stapled the paper bag that it was in before handing it to me.The Amateur Server event began when I entered with my Thai neighbor and a tall dude who spoke Thai and English said it was cash only because power was out. We explained that she had driven me but we were going to order and pay separately. He gave us menus to look at and then went and had some tea with someone at a nearby table. The place was not very full so it didn't look that busy and we were standing for a while after we got the menus and I apologized to the guy and said that I thought he was an employee there. He said he was and he got up and asked us what we wanted and then he said that we could go one at a time after the woman who was on the phone was off the phone at the front desk.We waited some more and eventually the woman disappeared and eventually the guy with the black cap took her place and they told me to approach and give my order and I did.The only problem was that I had eaten there for many years under different ownership and although I love spicy food, they occasionally made it too hot and usually that's not a problem because I would just take it home and make a pot of rice and just add a little bit of the spicy food to it and just eat off it for a couple days.I was asking if they could have a level between mild (Level 1) and medium and this brought a lot of talk and argument and confusion between me and that guy who had originally helped us and the cap guy. Finally Cap Dude said he would order it level two which is medium. Then my friend ordered and she ordered it level one and since she is Thai, and likes spicy food, I thought maybe I should order level one also. Which I told him.We waited about 20 min. Then I was given my bag but she was still waiting for hers. I could see the woman who was packing and it looked like something had gone wrong and she took a box out of the bag and she checked it and I don't know what else happened but we were still sitting there. At this point more people tried to come in and it got very busy.My friend said she had never been there before since the new ownership and she wasn't thrilled with what was going on.The Cap Dude tried to pass us and not make eye contact and I asked him where her food was and explained that I'd already gotten mine. He said that they were very busy in the kitchen with other orders. This kind of didn't make sense. We ordered almost the same thing except mine was fried rice and hers was over rice and we ordered almost at the same time.5 minutes later the woman who was packing seemed to get it together and she handed my friend her bag.My friend and I are older women and I didn't see any other older people in the place. I'm not sure where all these young people are getting the idea to come there because the food isn't that great but I'm assuming maybe something like TikTok? Or Elite?I felt that we were disrespected and it was a very unfriendly atmosphere in the way they related to us.I still can't figure out what the big deal is about me trying to get the spice level that I needed and how that offended them. After I ordered, I went to the tall guy who wasn't doing anything but standing around and tried to explain why I was concerned about the spice level on this particular evening and he seemed to not register anything I said. So I muttered "Whatever" and walked away. THIS he registered."DID YOU JUST SAY WHATEVER?" I heard him say as I walked away to go stand by the door. Gee whiz, are you challenging granny to a duel?On top of all of that to have the food not be good to the tune of almost $15...Never again. My friend didn't want to go back either because of the chaos and how long it took. She said she understood about Uber eats and all that but it just wasn't good service for us as walk-in customers. Our electricity is back on and now we can cook at home. YAY!
Be the first to ReplyA lot of Thais from out of town come here for the boat
A lot of Thais from out of town come here for the boat noodles. They are pretty well known for it. It's located in a little plaza in Thai town where there isn't a lot of parking. It's a hole in the wall and will remind you of a Thai version of a Pho joint. Same same but different! I've been here multiple times with friends and family. Most of the time they're on point but on this occasion the broth was a bit oily and heavy. So something to look out for, if that happens just ask for a little extra broth on the side to mix it in. This time I tried to Boat Noodle with Everything but unless your a fan of internals like blood, liver, etc just get the Boat noodle with beef or try the egg & pork omelette. That was actually the star this time around. It's a classic Homestyle Thai dish with some Thai chili & fish sauce. The hoi joh was pretty good. Nice and crispy not too oily. The Thai coffee was pretty good here. They use the proper kind of ice for it. They're under new management credit cards are finally accepted! The service is pretty good, here's a tip, help the service team by tipping in ! Food: 3.5-5 Service: 4Ambiance: ~3.5

My girlfriend and I visited because this restaurant came up as a top noodle spot on EaterLA.The owner was so kind and welcoming since it was our first visit. He recommended the boat noodle with everything and the jade noodles. Both dishes were excellent and had lots of flavor. We would love to come back and try the Pad Kra Pao Fried Rice!

This is going to sound a bit dramatic but I've been on the search for jade noodle with bbq pork and bbq duck for the past 16 years. Last time I had it was in thailand. I found this place through Mark Wein from youtube. I came to check this place out on the same day! Jade noodle - it was everything I expected. It brought me back to my home town. It was really good and flavorful. Boat noodle - this was my girlfriend first time trying thai boat noodle and she absolutely loved it. The broth was flavorful and taste authentic. The beef was tender as it should. Cha po - great value for the price. Roasted pork were thick and crispy. Roasted duck had good flavor between sweet and salty. Bbq pork was great as well. PS. If you aren't thai and think you can eat spicy. Don't risk here. Mild = Medium here! !

Saturday brunch @ 11:00 am, the party of 2 - boat noodles "beef & everything" , jade noodles, sautéed Chinese broccoli with salted fishService: attentiveFood quality: the broccoli dish was phenomenal, the very strong intensity of heat produced when cooking in a wok, you can taste the flavor from the food. Both noodles taste perfectly balance, good job!! Price: little pricy but acceptable Ambiance: relaxed, casual with light music Highly recommend

I need to take the 10 to get here and I will gladly do it during the worst of peak times just for their jade noodles.

My boyfriend got the boat noodles 'beef&everything' and I got the jade noodles. Spice level: Mild for bothLevel 1 spice and it was too spicy for me. Haha but then again I don't even eat hot cheetos. The broth from the boat noodles was boasting with flavor. It also had a slight sourness to it. Not a fan of beef liver, but the strong flavor of the soup masked it.Jade noodles reminded me of ramen noodle but green. The dish itself was quite savory. I enjoyed the combination of meats that was in it, which was bbq pork, duck, and crab paste. Oh yeah, also got their thai ice coffee. Very sweet and creamy! Loved it! Pretty good.Would I return? Heck yeah. I must try it without the spice next time. Felt like I couldn't fully enjoy it because of how spicy it was for me.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, reasonably priced authentic Thai food.
Highly recommend the jade and boat noodles. Anthony Bourdain ever has bad recs!
Be the first to ReplyOnly tried the Thai boat noodle from here.
Definitely worth a try and less sweet than you'd get it anywhere else. Got the "Beef and Everything"!Parking is not great, expect to drive around a while as the lot is tiny.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place.
I usually don't like places that only accept cash (as I never have cash) but I don't mind at this place. The prices are decently priced and you get a fair amount of food. The food tastes as though it's a home cooked meal, cooked in the back by your mom or best friend's aunt. The noodles are fresh and everything is incredibly flavorful. I tried the Jade noodles dry, as Yelpers recommended and it was delicious. The only thing was that it was quite spicy and I couldn't finish all of it. Next time I'll just tell them "less spicy."I've had the pad-see-ew here a few times. I can pretty confidently say that it ranks in the top, if not best, pad see ews I've ever had. I recommend the beef. I love coming here but it's only open for lunch, doesn't do delivery, and only accepts cash. When I can make it out, it's definitely worth the schedule rearrange and atm visit.

One of the most legit tasting thai food we ever had! We've had other thai resto places in thai town but this one is so far the best. We always get their papaya salad mild spicy. It's so fresh and flavorful! We also love their chinese broccoli with fried pork! Pork is so crispy even if it's mixed with the sauce of the broccoli. Pnly thing is they are cash only and they only have limited parking. But their food is really good and not too salty nor bland, just perfect mix of flavor :)

Boyfriend watched a video about this place and we were already in the area so we decided to try it out! It was a full house but we were able to get seated fairly quick. We tried the jade noodles, boat soup with sliced beef, and the crispy pork with rice/egg! Everything was a 10/10, super flavorful, and unlike any other Thai food we've ever had. I am so happy with our experience here and we most definitely will be coming back as often as we can, since it's a bit of a drive for us. Can't wait for our next visit because I'm already craving!

My first time in Thai town and WOW, this place delivered! I had the jade noodles with a side of broth, I was blown away. For everyone who's health-conscious, This is a perfectly balanced meal of carbs (but not too much), a generous portion of meat, on a tasty bed of blanched gai lan (Chinese broccoli). There are three types of proteins, crab, Roast duck, and barbecued pork. With regards to the roast duck and BBQ pork, the meet was incredibly tender it was lightly dusted with some seasoned white pepper. The sharpness of the white pepper was a great counterpoint to the fattiness of the meat. The crab was the least memorable of the three proteins, but I still appreciated the fact that there were so many different flavor profiles going on simultaneously in this bowl! The gai lan was also pretty special. I'm not sure if they used oyster sauce, or just sugar, but there is a sweetness to it that I really appreciate it.Finally, the noodles cannot be neglected. They had a very nice bite to them, and were incredibly savory in their own regard, having absorbed all the flavors of the other parts of the dish. The restaurant was very busy, so there was a bit of a wait, but service was quite fast, and the staff was helpful. On top of that, the owner was incredibly nice, and took the time to speak with everyone of the customers who was at the restaurant. Shout outs to the restaurant staff for the delicious food, and the owner for creating a great vibe! Will 100% be back here again and will be sharing this with all my friends!
Be the first to ReplyVery solid beef boat noodles.
Pork noodles are pretty good, but I prefer the beef.I actually prefer the Hoy-Ka boat noodles as the broth is a little thicker and tastes a little stronger. However, the chicken larb at Sapp is fantastic so I usually go to Sapp to order both.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite places for Thai food.
What to order:- jade noodles (you don't see this a lot on menus of other thai restaurants)- it was 97 degrees today so we did not get the boat noodles (but highly recommend)- crab rolls, nice addition to your menu and served with a sweet and sour sauce- don't sleep on the thai tea, its not overly sweet and just perfect on this hot dayParking lot is very small, but there is plenty of street parking (non-metered).Small restaurant, but it isn't cramped and hardly have to wait.

You can't really go wrong with any of the dishes but the boat noodles are what they are famous for.

Phenomenal, the food here was so good! First of all, the Deep-fried Crab Rolls are a must-get appetiser, fried to crispy perfection and just amazing with the accompanying sweet chilli sauce. I also tried their famous Jade Noodles, springy spinach egg noodles that are generously topped with bbq pork, roast duck and crab meat. There's a wonderful, subtly sweet, burst of flavour when you mix it all with the sauce at the bottom. Last but not least, is the Pad Kra Pao, stir-fried basil chicken over white rice, with an add-on fried egg. The basil chicken was so incredibly fragrant and flavourful, and the fried egg had a perfectly runny centre!(food instagram: @breeseats )
Be the first to ReplyWe tried the boat noodles here based on Mark Weins' visit.
It was my first time visiting Thai Town. The broth was pretty good, with a balanced amount of herbs and spices, but some may find it too sweet (I like sweet so had no issues). It also had a nice amount and variety of meat, including offal. The noodles were what brought the dish down for me though. I prefer glass noodles and they used rice noodles similar to what is in pho. More importantly, the noodles they served were slightly undercooked. This is a tiny restaurant with a very small parking lot. It is also cash only, so be prepared if you want to give this place a try.
