Hidden Gem in St James
I discovered Scullys by accident, as my hotel was around the corner from this well-hidden place. It was busy in a Tuesday night but I still got a table. Their minimum are two courses out of their three course meal which sets you back 50 quid, or 60 for the whole experience. I went for the full experience and was very happy. The service is good, the dishes taste well and have surprising combinations, such as halibut with oxtail meat. Service was impeccable and friendly. Will surely visit again, even if a bit on the expensive side, also in terms of wine.

We went to Scullys on a chilly night so it was good to enter the welcoming environment of Scully’s. There is an open kitchen and it is a pleasure watching Scully and his eclectic team at work. We had the tasting menu - each course satisfyingly intriguing with the arepa and halibut courses especially standing out. Another course was subtly perfumed with curry leaves which unexpectedly stuck us with nostalgia for home. Staff across the board are obviously passionate about their work and pleasantly professional. Delicious food and good cocktails - a really special evening.

We visited London and were certainly surprised by the quality of the food at this restaurant. Knowing that the Chef worked with Otolenghi made us decide to go here. Centrally located in the city with a great ambience and excellent staff. It made my 60th birthday a day to remember.
Be the first to ReplyMore interesting than good on second visit
We had a very good and exciting meal here three years ago. Our repeat visit was less rewarding. The chef, in his eagerness to show off his considerable knowledge of multiple cuisines and obscure ingredients, seems to have lost his focus. on making sure the final dish tastes good. Despite exotic components (e.g. bergamot labneh, fig leaf vinegar, soy koji butter, black garlic purée) and uncommon techniques (8 day fermented maize dough, dry aged halibut, dehydrated grapefruit skins, etc.) there really wasn't any dish we had (a total of eight, including the amuse bouche and final pettit fours with the tasting menu) that had any punch or cohesion or synergism of flavors. Even the chef's trademark dish of the dry aged halibut we had had three years ago, and have continued to rave to fellow foodies as an example of brilliant manipulation of food failed to impress us on our second time this visit. Overall, interesting but just not any memorable or impressive dishes to our tastes. Service was just a bit problematic for a restaurant of this ambition as well. Our reception was warm and enthusiastic, but after being seated with the menus, we seemed to have failed to register with any of the members of the team waitstaff. The restaurant was only half full on this Thursday night, so there was really little excuse for an over ten minute lapse to even get a drink order placed. We had to flag down one of the waitstaff even at that (not the one who was busy folding napkins at the pass-through with her back to us about six feet from our table at that.) The waitstaff who took our wine order seemed a little uncertain. The wine list is somewhat eccentric, and the mark-up is the typical brutal 300-400% of retail common in London fine restaurants. The restaurant offers a la carte options of two dishes at £50 or three at £60, or the tasting menu with two starter and two mains for the menu, plus an amuse bouche, a sorbet, dessert and and petit fours for £110. A vegan tasting menu is also in the mix. Two tasting menus, two glasses of very nice English sparking, and an anonymous Chilean carmenere and service charge lightened our purse £329 Other reviews are quite enthusiastic, but we could not much recommend based on food, service or value.

The best meal I’ve had in ages. So creative and the flavors were unique and mouthwatering. Staff were fantastic too and very knowledgeable about the food served. Will definitely come again when I’m next in London. 10/10
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely loved this restaurant
Innovative, interesting food bursting with flavour and superbly presented. A casual yet professional atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly staff. There was a great buzz in the place and the tables were well enough spaced out to enable us to have a good conversation. We had the tasting menu which I would highly recommend and it’s incredibly good value for the quality of food and service.

Five of us had a fabulous meal - tasting menu with accompanying wine flight. The food - flavours, cooking and creativity, as always, was exceptional. The wines introduced us to some we had never heard of and the pairing worked really well. One of our group doesn't eat pork and they very deftly substituted a dish from the vegan tasting menu without any fuss. Excellent service. Thanks to all at Scully's for a wonderful evening.
Be the first to ReplyMust visit on any London trip, simply divine!
The location is perfect...right around the corner from busy Leicester Square, but in a quiet side street, so you can get away from the crazy busy city for a bit. The food is simply outstanding and so very unique. Overflowing with flavor and deliciousness, you won't find anything like this anywhere else in London. I have visited multiple times now and have not had one dish that I didn't absolutely love. I now trust them so much that I will order things that I have no clue about what they are, because I know it will be amazing! The staff is fantastic, too, it is always good to see the same faces again (after months in between visits), which tells you that the working atmosphere in the restaurant is great, too. On this visit we observed Scully himself cooking and guiding his team in a quiet yet firm way and everyone just felt like they are all taking pride of being part of this restaurant. Seriously, don't miss this one! So many great restaurants in London, but this one is special!
Be the first to ReplyInteresting and delicious food experience
We had a lovely meal last night at Scully’s. There was a warm and a friendly buzz and the service was terrific. Attentive and personable but not intrusive, and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Great advice on what to order. The food was delicious interesting and unusual without being weird! These are food combinations you don’t get in other places, blended in an imaginative way. Each dish had great flavours and textures. The mushrooms with the emulsion of roasted yeast was in particular very delicious and the eggplant with fermented corn bread was astonishingly good. The chocolate sorbet dessert was intense and delicious. The wine list had some lovely choices by the glass which is helpful when you don’t want a bottle! Very enjoyable evening.
Be the first to ReplyQuite simply excellent
We had booked the tasting menu which we would highly recommend. At the end of the meal one of the staff asked us if we had a favourite dish. The reality is that they were all fantastic. Great food, great service.
