Not worth the money they charge
At first arriving at the restaurant the waitress wanted to place us in small corner table, we politely asked if there was anywhere we can sit that’s a little more open? The waitress rolled her eyes at us. We then were greeted by a lovely waitress that was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered some lobster spring rolls, battered lobster and something else i can’t remember, however we waited about 35min to get our spring rolls, then waited a further 40min before we had to ask for the mains to be served, they then bought them out in about 5min so I think they forgot our order as they where not that busy at all. When we tried the crispy lobster it tasted like it had been cooked in dirty or burnt oil, and was not eatable at all. The other dish was ok but not up to the standard of what I expected from the cream casino. When the waitress come back and told us that the chef advised her it’s cooked fine and there is nothing wrong with the oil. When we asked to speak to the chef the waitress started crying and said that’s what the chef told me to tell you, I felt so bad for her I tipped her and we paid the bill and I can honestly say I will never dine here ever again. The food is just not up to what you would expect for the prices they charge.

2nd time dining here 1st was expensive but ok next expensive and average we could not get the attention of drinks waiter and so didn't have a chance to enjoy wine or 2nd glass of room temperature tap water with our meal. Sorry but for very expensive meal you would expect prompt and professional service not a soulless waiter with a hint of I don't care . Fortunately we get better service from local county Chinese restaurant serviced by the local teenagers who smile.
Be the first to ReplyNo free car parking and limited choice of food.
No more free parking even with group orders and spending $2,000 in total bill. Food was so so as compared to other real Chinese restaurants in North Bridge. Silk used to be fairly good but standard drop so much and price went up. Not worth eating there when we have so many choices available with real tasty food in Northbridge.

Decided to go here for lunch on cup day. Was seated looking out across the Yarra. Service was quite good and we decided on the All you can eat Yum Cha. Things went down hill after that. The Yum Cha menu was extremely limited with many of the better offerings available for extra purchase. The All you can eat was $68p/P. So we had prawn, prawn and chives, and shu mai dumplings. All were out of the packet and below average. The crispy pork and crispy noodles was not at all crispy. Fried rice was bland. There was a choice of selected spring rolls, but prawn spring rolls cost extra. No ginger prawn dumplings, no shark fin dumplings, no scallop dumplings. Very poor offerings. Chinese tea cost extra. And on the way out a 15% surcharge for the holiday on top of the bill. For $160 for two we could have had a full banquet in China Town, and no holiday surcharge.

The service is very good. The food is average at best. We went with friends on Monday night before going to Hamer Hall for a show. I don't know who is in the kitchen but they are not doing a good job. Salt and Pepper calamari is deep fried! What? The noodles were ok - slapped on the plate. The duck pancake and the beef tenderloin were both good dishes. We have been here on a quite a few occasions and after this experience we won't bother again. Such a shame given its fabulous location.

We booked this restaurant to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and we’re so looking forward to the evening. We placed our order and requested that the entree come out and then a delay before the main arrived as we wanted to enjoy the occasion. The entree arrived and was really nice, we again requested a delay before the main course arrived. We had not finished our entree by 5 minutes and out came the main course, when we questioned why it had not been delayed as requested we got “oh sorry “ and a smile. We only managed one drink as the staff buzzed all around other tables but didn’t come anywhere near us. We really felt as though all the staff want us to do was eat up, pay the bill and get out. In the end we we got up paid the bill and left disappointed, not with the food but the pretty average service for a restaurant with such a high end reputation. We won’t be back sorry.

Good service, great decor but quality of food was average at best. The lemon chicken was more like KFC than anything memorable.
Be the first to Reply5 star Chinese restaurant
If you want an exceptional 5 star Chinese restaurant you need to check out Silks. We attended their 10 year anniversary which was a selection of delicious food pairing with wine. The food was delicious and scrumptious. The staff were very professional and polite.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing this time
Silks used to be great .It is very average now.Our food was Lukewarm The salt and pepper golden prawns were cold ,tasteless .they use to be our favourite. The honey pepper and ginger beef had a very strange taste and once again cold.Very unpleasant .It took over an hour to get our main.I think it had been sitting there a while .we won’t rush back in a hurry. It’s a shame as the venu is lovely. The staff weren’t over friendly either .
Be the first to ReplyPre show dinner
We booked this as a pre-show dinner. The service was excellent (fromEdith) who helped us with the menu, so that we didn’t over order. Food arrived quickly and was of good quality. Would go again.
Be the first to ReplyGood food with really bad service
Went there for dinner with family and it started off badly. Was told that restaurant was full when online reservations system showed that there is available tables. Book a table online and was able to be seated. Wait staff was racist providing different level of services. One of the dish ordered did not arrived and when we asked to check the order, they took 15 minutes to come back and check our table to double check the order did not arrived. Avoid this restaurant at all costs unless you like to be served by Karens.

Walked into the restaurant at around 8:05 pm and waited for a while for the Asian, middle aged lady with permed hair at the counter to finish serving others in front. She seemed really friendly with the customers in front. When it was our turn, her attitude seems different and she asked if we have a reservation and we told her no. She said that they were booked for the night. Before we walked in, we checked at around 7:30pm that reservation was possible for 8pm. So when we were turned away, my sister immediately took out her phone and checked their website again. There were reservations available for 8:30pm and she immediately made the reservation which requires her credit card details. We left the restaurant and came back at 8:30 pm and that same lady who turned us away seated us. She totally didn't expect this. The restaurant was only half full. There was this Asian waitress who took our orders and she is really helpful. We thought we ordered the stingray but the dish did not come and we asked another middle aged Asian waitress to help us check on our order but she didn't come back. She just walked over and said oh no stingray dish on the table and never came back. So we paid and was asked by another lady at the counter about our experience. We told her the food was good but the service was bad and asked for the name of the lady who seated us. Her name is Josephine. To me, lying about having no seats is really a big no no, and I feel what we have encountered is pure discrimination. To the management of the restaurant, please do something about your staff.
Be the first to ReplyUntrained staff, limited menu items, no service
average food, staff were not trained, limited menu items available, rude staff, expensive for what we got
Be the first to ReplyNice but not Special
We dined here pre-show at Crown theatre [Moulin Rouge < Fabulous]. Service was attentive and prompt. Water & Wine glasses never empty. We ordered the duck and pancake for entree which we enjoyed and came with a little glass of duck soup. Mains, we had yellow noodles with crispy pork, this was my favourite dish. Mongolia lamb which came with 3 buns and we didn't know about these until delivered to our table. This dish was not flavoursome and we wouldn't order again, we felt the buns did nothing for the dish. My wife had some funky looking dessert with chocolate in the middle (looked like a red onion from the outside 😉). She enjoyed it. We thoroughly enjoyed the bottle of red Henschke henrys seven 2021 went superbly with the meal.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience
We came for dinner after a show so quite early around 5.30pm. What an awful experience. The food was ok nothing seriously special and the service was disgraceful. Staff had no idea and struggled several times to help with wine then poured massive glasses to drain the bottle on first pour. Absolutely clueless. Considering this is a tourist destination and also high end prices it was just terrible and I would not recommend
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service.
Untrained staff that dont know what they are doing, menu has items that are not on there, wine list has items that are not available, staff shortages are obvious but the lack of staff training is more obvious. A very disappointing visit with friends and family

We had the lucky pleasure of being in a private dining room for a 40th birthday. From the service at the front desk to the every end it was an absolutely pleasurable experience. The service & food was top game. All the food came out correct as ordered and all at the same time. As a party of over 20 people they were able to get everything 10/10. Their cocktails were delicious and stunning. Food was packed eight flavour and beautifully presented. Prawns were most, lemon chicken lovely & zesty and their pork cutlets crunchy & again a massive flavour explosion. Highly recommend.

Silks is an excellent location to enjoy top-quality Chinese food at value prices. The service is flawless, the ambience perfect, couldn't have asked for a better way to enjoy our anniversary. Thank you all

Located in the Perth crown complex . This is a high class Asian restaurant. The service and food is excellent. the menu is extensive.
Be the first to ReplyAverage food served cold
Generally disappointing: most dishes arrived at the table only semi-warm or cold (tables are too far from kitchen, and the plates are cold). The food itself was mediocre at best and poor at worst. The spring rolls have hardly any filling, so they taste like pastry without content. Particularly substandard is the availability of vegetarian or vegan options. Absurdly, there is no noodle dish (other than egg noodles) that is vegetarian (you have to ask for it, and they charged $48 for same which is about twice what it should be). There is no claypot vegetarian option: also absurd. The available vegetarian dishes are more like sides, rather than sought out dishes offered by a serious restaurant. The stir fried mushrooms were appalling (in presentation, edibility and taste). Fortunately, the desserts were of a much higher standard.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing experience for our silver wedding celebration
My husband and I decided to stay at Crown Towers Perth for our silver wedding anniversary, a very big occasion for us because of our age. We decided to book 2 restaurants over 2 of the nights, the first being Silks. Sadly this turned out to be a mistake. My husband had his hot and sour soup but my starter never arrived (a pet hate of mine it’s bad etiquette). I managed at last to catch a member of staff’s eye and asked where my starter was. She went and checked came back and said sorry it was given to another table by mistake. The 1 prawn did taste nice when I got it. Main courses were chicken with a coriander and vinegar sauce and a beef dish for my husband. Strangely there were no sides of vegetables eg long beans or broccoli on the menu. My chicken dish was so dry with only a tiny little dish of sauce accompanying it. I had to use a lot of soy sauce to be able to eat it. My husband couldn’t eat his beef dish it was so tough. We went to pay and the lady asked how we enjoyed the meal to which my other half responded ‘awful’. He told her his beef was so tough he couldn’t eat it. We couldn’t believe it when she said did you eat it all!! I said why don’t you go to our table and look. Which she did, she then deleted the beef dish from our bill. We will not be returning.

Silks food is always amazing, it never disappoints and we have been many times. The staff are attentive and friendly that also contributes to why we keep going back!
Be the first to ReplyI wouldn’t rush back
The food was good but not outstanding. The ambiance is fine but there are no windows to the outside. What annoyed me was the fact that I had to chase down a waitress to get another round of drinks. This is a missed opportunity for the restaurant to make money, but more importantly I had to eat the remainder of my main course without wine.
Be the first to ReplyFancy Chinese
Thoroughly enjoyed our special honeymoon dinner at Silks although I’m critical of the $19 entree charge for two spring rolls. Regardless if they’re lobster or truffle, the taste and quality is comparable to any good local suburban Chinese takeaway.
The rest of the meal was fantastic. I’d consider coming back. Cocktails were amazing.
CNY dinner. Service was great.
Do not order the fried rice special. It was bland. The prawns, dim sum and soup was great. The service was A +++. Paid 29$ for the special fried rice n I was disappointed. But I will come again because I loved the service, the ambience and the rest of the food was great
