Cosy and traditional Icelandic food!
Smoked salmon with traditional rye bread And then wale! Food was great and decent priced considering Icelandic prices. Really nice interior and service was friendly. Defo worth having dinner there

We sat and had a drink and a little bit of food before waiting to be picked up to the airport. The staff allowed us to come inside with our large suitcases and this wasn’t an issue. We sat at the bar and had a drink and some chips (waffle chips) the grub was lovely. We was talking to one of the members of staff for a while Sverrir B. Sverrir was super friendly and great to chat to! He was very welcoming and was talking to my fiancé about the football. He made us feel very accommodated. Also a GREAT bonus is they have ladies sanitary pads in the ladies bathroom!!! Love this!! Love that they care about women :)))( 10/10 for me.

This place does seem to be aimed at tourists but they come through on the food. We had the crispy cod skin with tartare sauce to start, then my partner had the sheep’s head and I had the pulled lamb roll with waffle fries. It was all delicious, although just a warning there’s not much meat on the sheep’s head! Definitely need to book if you don’t want to wait around, we went on a Saturday night and there was a queue of people waiting. Luckily we’d made a reservation in advance.

Great stop on our food tour. Tried to go back 1 night for dinner and they were full. Really enjoyed the Lamb soup on our tour
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant was a bit crowded and we had queued for 40 minutes for a table.
The restaurant serves some special dishes including fin whale and sheep head, both are good despite the sheep head doesn’t look very attractive but it’s really yummy. It would have been much better if both dishes served hotter.

The quality of food and affordability is second to none. Friendly service also, if you're in reykjavik I couldn't recommend this place enough

The restaurant has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. We didn’t make a reservation so had to wait about 20 minutes for a table but it was worth it! We had the lamb dog and lobster dog with waffle fries and chilli cheese onion rings and every single thing was delicious! Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Reykjavik!

I hate lamb. I really hate lamb meat. This place could convert me. That lamb soup/stew was so delicious that I had to pace myself. It was perfect for a cold, snowy, windy February day. There wasn't much seasoning added, so the flavors of the lamb, carrot, and potato really shone through. This was the very first time I attempted eating lamb in Iceland, and I now know what I'm missing. I will be back again! The Volcano is a mixture of red grapefruit and vodka served on tap. It's really refreshing. It's sweeter than grapefruit juice, but it's not too sweet. If you like cocktails, I highly recommend trying this one out.

You won't see locals here, it's all the tourists. But the food is authentic and AWESOME. When we walked in it was already very crowded (the place isn't big to start with) and the waiters all took a minute to side eye eachother to see who would have to take on the new people, but since we had a reservation we got a table right off. We learned that waiters don't really check on you once you have your meal but are happy to get anything you want if you just signal them. Honestly the best meal we had in Iceland was here- the whale scone dish was phenomenal, the reindeer burger was out of this world, the fish of the day was a huge plate of food (I thought the mashed potatoes were a bit dense and needed salt but fish was awesome). Coffee of course was excellent and the waiter was asking everyone where they were from and was happy to answer our questions about the area and the taxi/bus system. And the price was completely reasonable- $75 for dinner for two. Generally I found Iceland is not place you can do cheaply, but it's nowhere near as expensive as New York City or similar...yet.

Nice bar/restaurant serving traditional Icelandic food.
We sampled plokkfiskur, a traditional Icelandic fish stew. It was delicious! I could happily eat this every week.
Later that evening, we visited the bar for drinks. Great atmosphere.
Authentic bar, great service, variety of good beers and delicious food!
I visited islenski barinn last Sunday with a group of colleagues. We all had different dishes - ranging from Finn whale, lamb and great burgers. It was delicious!
And - while we were eating, a pianist started playing and we couldn't believe our luck!
Amazing Islandic food plase!
Sweet local with incredibly good Icelandic food. We ate whales and reindeer burgers that came quickly and amazing. The people who work there were extremely good in English and very god at the survic. Got a lot of good advice on where we should go on our stay
Devine and authentic Iceland
Wow! We had the pleasure of dining in this restaurant/bar and weren’t disappointed. The food was uniquely Icelandic and quite simply Devine. The best meal so far during our stay here so well worth a visit.
Sampled local delicacies of fin whale and reindeer burger. The fin whale was not dissimilar to having a beautiful fillet steak and the burger was rich and gamey in flavour.
Finished with the Icelandic pancakes which were very nice indeed and light to eat.
If you are coming Iceland make this bar/restaurant a place to dine and you don’t be disappointed. To top it all the staff are all very welcoming
Great atmosphere and food
This place seems like it is always busy so be prepared to wait. Once seated, you will find a nice choice of items. The table next to me was sharing a bunch of dishes that looked great. Being a solo diner, I did not have that option.
The couple next to me tried the shark and whale and their take was that it was "different". Service is attentive without being annoying.
Cozy & welcoming with delicious food
Very welcoming, cozy feel with a great mix of locals and tourists. Food delicious. Two of our party had the burgers and one the fish and chips and all were excellent. Well cooked hearty food. Definitely try this out. It was busy so you may need to book.

We ate here 2 evenings, we were sorry we didn`t know about it sooner. Food was wonderful, and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly. Does a lot of business, people were coming and going the whole time. Loved the man who comes in just to play the piano for free to the diners. Highly recommend this bar.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Fish Pie !
Found this place on Tripadvisor while on my little Icelandic adventure & went there to try. Staff were friendly & accommodating, I asked to sit somewhere where I could charge my phone as it was dying. I had a glass of white wine - yummy ! A hot dog with fish & a fish pie. All food was amazing! The pie came with this sweet bread .. only later on one of my tours I learned that this is the special Icelandic bread. Over all was very tasty & the place is clear and cosy. My only thing would be - pricy, for a glass of wine, 1 hot dog and a pie I paid £41… in England it would be expensive for a meal for 1 person.
