Soho Grand Hotel New York Reviews from The Last Year
A beautifully designed and charming option in SoHo
I travel internationally to NY often but decided this time to forgo our usual stays at the chain and, on the recommendation of a friend, booked my colleague and I into the Soho Grand. I’m really glad I did (subject to my later comments) as I love almost everything about the hotel and the location. It is in the most perfect spot in Soho for exploring NY and my favourite parts of NY (I also used to live here). The rooms are beautifully put together, with comfortable beds and linens, marble in charming bathrooms, unique cabinetry and a super fun snack tray! They were too tempting. The bathroom products are incredible and I’m going to track them down to take home. The only negatives I experienced were less than warm welcomes at reception as I had read reviews prior calling this out as a plus. I can’t decide if I should take it personally or not as I may not fit the usual clientele. I’m a boring suit! Also, be warned that the sounds from the very, very fun in-house lounge and bar carries through the hotel. I couldn’t sleep at all the 2nd night and when I called down to reception and was told it would last until 2am, I asked to move rooms. And to their credit they did. But then I had to listen to jackhammers from a nearby construction site all night. Which is why I’ve been up since 3am. Let’s hope I can manage some sleep on my last night tonight! I realise that is out of the hotel’s control but probably something to keep in mind. Finally, I also highly recommend the in-house restaurant for breakfast. It is the most beautiful breakfast room, utterly charming and the service and food was exceptional. I would eat there every morning. I had the avocado toast and it was fantastic. The coffee wasn’t bad either. All in all, a super charming and fantastic hotel option in NY. We will be back, thought perhaps on less busy nights!
Great place for couples!
The staff at the hotel is lovely and very accommodating. Leidy (spelling? sorry) at the front desk made sure we were taken care of and made my bday trip extra special. We really enjoyed the location, fun bar, walking distance to two major subway lines. Loved it!
A Fantastic Hotel
The Soho Grand is one of my top three NYC hotels. Friendly, professional, courteous, welcoming. Elegant but never fussy. Old-world but lively. Great rooms. Lovely lobby bar-restaurant. Interesting neighborhood. Great value. Highly recommended.
Great Team, Great Hotel!
I've only ever had a great time at this hotel. THANK YOU to the entire team for creating an awesome experience for such a special occasion, the Terrace Suite is incredible, no other hotel we'd rather celebrate at..... We will be coming back!!
Consistency and comfort with a cool vibe
The Soho Grand is one of my go-to hotels when I'm in the city for work. I've stayed here 20 or 30 times and it's got all I need: Comfortable and quiet rooms, great bar and lounge (I often meet clients at the bar), friendly front-desk service, and a nice break from the anonymous sameness of big brands. The location is great if you want to be in Soho; lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. As a regular guest I often get an upgraded room, and appreciate the recognition, although the hotel doesn't seem to have an official loyalty program. If you look closely the hotel is starting to show a bit of age around the edges, and the rooms could probably use a refresh in the next few years, but the hotel doesn't yet feel outdated. There can be a little noise from the street, but no more than at any other hotels in the city. Overall, the pros far outweigh any minor cons.
Great Property at a great location
We had a fantastic time at the Soho Grand Hotel. I originally chose this hotel because of its location. It is the midpoint via subway to Brooklyn or Uptown Manhattan. We discovered a wonderful property with comfortable rooms, great food, a wonderful bourbon bar, and excellent service. Leidy at the front desk was always helpful; she went beyond the call of duty to make our stay even better. I highly recommend this hotel.
Thank you Tsering!
We came to the soho grand for a coworkers birthday and we had a fabulous time. Our server, Tsering, took care of us and made sure the birthday girl was treated despite how busy it was! Food and drinks were wonderful and bringing out desert with a candle was the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back soon!
NO HOT WATER!
Overall, beautiful hotel. Enjoyed everything about it. My problem was waking up in the morning to get ready for a business meeting and had NO HOT WATER. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. No one showed. So I had a day without a shower. Front desk did nothing about it and pretended like it was someone else’s problem.
Great hotel in soho
Barrington Was the absolute best! I had a great time at the hotel and the check in process was very pleasant. My overall stay in the hotel was great as the rooms were clean and it was in a good location. I thought the aesthetic was a VIBEz I took a photo of the lobby and 200 is a lot of words. Thanks :)
Top-Tier Experience for 2 Native New Yorkers
As a native New Yorker and a very experienced international traveler, I had visited Soho Grand's luxurious restaurant/bar numerous times and always enjoyed myself. This weekend, however, I decided to book an overnight, staycation for my significant other and myself as a couples get-away. I'm so glad that I chose Soho Grand for our quality time. I arrived to the hotel after a long day of business travel and was warmly welcomed by the exceptional Barrington Roberts at reception. His easy nature and kind banter made for some of the best hospitality that I've ever experienced in all of NYC. It set the tone for our entire stay and was incredible. It didn't hurt that he offered me a complimentary glass of prosecco during my check-in, as well. Our upgraded room was lovely. Extremely clean, well decorated, well appointed and spacious by NYC standards. The room had a stunning view of the entire city - including the Empire State and Chrysler buildings. The bed was comfortable and a great size for my partner, who is very tall (6'5"). The shower (water pressure, etc) was perfect. The in-room amenities were world class as well - fridge was fully stocked and a basket full of all sorts of goodies. We technically didn't have to leave the room but ended up checking out the Soho Diner, just next door, and it felt like a classic movie scene for us. I can't say enough about the walkability and chicness of the neighborhood. When we returned to the hotel late on a Sunday, one of the restaurant staff was kind and patient to help us find ice even as they were closing for the evening. The next morning, Clari at the front desk was extremely friendly and arranged for us to have a late check out - a much appreciated gesture for our special time together. I think it's important to share that as a couple of color (Black & Latinx), we felt especially safe and welcomed at Soho Grand. We're incredibly thankful for the magical experience and can't wait to return!
This review is for the soho staff.
While visiting from LA the service was exceptional in every way. Leidy at the front desk really took care off us and made sure we were happy with our time there.
Eros is the best server ever .
Such a NY spot. Cute guys and fun people!!!!!! Love this place
My wife and I travel from CA to NYC, 2-3 times/year.
As we typically visit for 10-14 days, we like to try a different area of the city and a new hotel, each time. We may have found our "new second home" this trip, because we ended up loving both the Soho neighborhood and the Soho Grand Hotel. Our trip was not without a few "wrinkles" though, so we will be back soon to give it another try. Unfortunately both my wife and I contracted COVID during our trip, so we self-quarantined in our hotel room for 5+ days per our doctors instructions and until our symptoms resolved and we both tested negative. + The front desk woman (I apologize for not getting her name) checked on us frequently during our quarantine and offered us any assistance that we might need. She further accommodated us by adding an additional 3 days to our stay at the prevailing rate, so that we could adequately recover + Our housekeeper "Muriel" was VERY sweet and helpful. She demonstrated genuine concern for our well-being and made us feel at home. Muriel is a "keeper"! + Most all of the doormen and in-particular "Daniel" , were friendly, helpful and engaging. The services provided by these men are often overlooked, but they are the "face" of the hotel and provide the first impression of the hotel + The rooms are nicely appointed, with some minor "quirks" + The hotel elevators are very fast and the card security system is appreciated - A couple of the registration desk agents (not all) were a bit "chilly". No smiles, no rush to assist hotel guests, etc. Further training may be necessary - The lighting controls in the rooms are somewhat confusing and frustrating - The shower (in both of our rooms) was very difficult to regulate water temperature. The water was either scalding hot or freezing cold. I would spend several minutes each time that I showered, attempting to get the water temperature just right I'll be back!
Beware if you are going for their NYE event.
My friends and I bought a table ticket that stated it would accommodate "up to 6 guests," but when we arrived we were rudely and condescendingly informed that each of us would have had to buy a table ticket, and denied entry. Confusing, and borderline fraudulent.
Interesting experience at this hotel.
The rooms and the area were nice but the staff, aside from the housekeepers, couldn't be bothered. It was a very strange experience. From the door, to the bartender, to the concierge. I've travelled quite a bit and I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. If you want a moderate room with less than moderate staff in a convenient location, this is your place.
This hotel has nice rooms and would get a better review
This hotel has nice rooms and would get a better review from me but for the following. When I checked in they charged me $200 more than the room cost in case I charged things to the room. This is a common practice but when I didn't charge anything and checked out they told me it would take five days to return my money and that was American Expresses policy. But it's not an American Express policy, it's the Soho Grand ripping me off. It's three days and counting and I still don't have a refund.
Be warned: thumping, electronic music until 3am makes
Be warned: thumping, electronic music until 3am makes falling asleep here difficult. Nice rooms, but not worth it. A disappointment.
Went to the soho grand hotel brunch and it was unexpectedly
Went to the soho grand hotel brunch and it was unexpectedly amazing! The croissant, shakshuka, and French toast were absolutely delicious. The ambiance was so classy and chic. This is a spot to go to if you want a nice and classy vibe to grab a drink or a nice brunch
A review late, but well worth posting! When we were in NY,
A review late, but well worth posting! When we were in NY, my first time in Manhattan, my wife and I stayed at the SoHo Grand Hotel. When we return to our next trip, you will be sure, that we'll be back! It's right in the heart of everything, and just around the corner from a subway entrance... Also, it's a great place to go walking, and since you are in the heart of Manhattan, easily to navigate back to.
i have been coming to this hotel, especially for its
