Sleazy establishment.
BEWARE. Do not accept their surprise starters. I went to this restaurant for my engagement celebration dinner and was flabbergasted when I received the bill and those random starters were over 40€!! We ordered a 60€ bottle of wine and when I asked about the starters they said "sorry we have fine print in the menu explaining." This restaurant left a bad taste in my mouth. The food was average, I get better tasting seafood in Miami. Shame!

Really slow service Really salty, mediocre foodServers were constantly coughing all over the restaurant. Also coughing into their hand. Then touching the food. The food comes out through a small window from the kitchen and the waiters also scream through this window with the food sitting right there...no doubt some drops of saliva made it onto the food. Not sure if I'm more bothered by this bc of Covid or if I'd still be bothered had there not been a pandemic but I'm sure no one wants someone else's saliva in their food. 1 star for the ambiance. -1 for the wait -1 for the food -1 for the lack of hygienic practices -1 for the overall negative experienceAlso, is the credit card machine really truly broken or is something else going on to make you pay in cash?

Highlights:Michelin guide was so wrong Below average, extremely over salted food (and we enjoy salty food!Relatively over priced Very slow (we were there for 2+ hours, mostly waiting for food and so did every table; maybe it's the local culture to lounge and wait long periods for food?)Fish soup for 2So overpriced for 43 euro, worst part was it took 1.5 hours to come out after ordering. Salty, basic soup. Barely any fish or shrimp in it. Leaves of mint floating atop. Needs 2x the volume of water to dilute the salt out so you can detect any sort of flavor. Made us angry this was recommended, given all the great food we've had thus far in Portugal Black pork tenderloin with boiled bread garlic purée and spinach puréeThis was fine, the spinach purée were interesting, the garlic bread purée, also interesting -- very strong garlic flavor. Sadly, the pork is was again super duper salty. Basic pork flavor Encharcada dessertDessert of fried egg yolk drenched in sugar syrup, it was good and interesting but not a must order thing The 2 mains were so extremely salty, we initially thought they made a mistake with the soup. Nope. Seems completely intentional unless they also made a mistake with the pork too. A sadly, disappointing experience.

I would not recommend this restaurant for the following reasons:1) The restaurant is in an out of the way location under the bridge in Lisbon. There's not much around the neighborhood.2) The food was "ok". There are many other terrific restaurants in Lisbon to eat at.3) The host and waiter agreed to split our check with another couple we had dinner with. We pre-arranged this. When the check came, they refused to split it. Then they asked us to pay cash and said their credit card machine wasn't working. 4) Wait staff was not attentive and focused on what was on their tv instead of seeing if we were enjoying our meal.
Be the first to ReplyAn establishment restaurant.
White table cloths but not super super formal. Not sombre. The hanging jamon, or whatever it's called here, is dressed in cloth, not bare. Not so much posh as old school. I had Hare with white beans and a very good branco. Not a cheap eat but if you are portly and middle aged like me, or just feel like indulging a vibe excellent traditional lordly fare.
Be the first to ReplySolar dos Nunes was excellent place to have lunch.
Baked octopus was super flavorful. Portions were very generous and service really friendly. Price was very reasonable considering the quality of cooking. Highly recommended.

Absolutely a great experience-though I don't read the menu very well, I relied on the staff's recommendations and nothing could go wrong: the ham was superb, the flaky layer was delicious, even the house wine was excellent (4 euros/glass!). The staff was so helpful and friendly, at the end, their credit car machine was broken, and they pretty much told me that I can pay it the next time- who does that these days??! Even though I know I will be back, I paid cash.

on Yelp and the restaurants web site.We walked there on October 7, and arrived at 8 PM and they were closed.Kind of disappointed, to say the least. We walked back to our hotel, tired and hungry with only two pieces of peppermint gum for dinner. SadI guess the moral of the story is always call ahead.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was excellent, but pricey for Lisbon.
Though there were a lot of locals, they all seemed to be business people. This, in additional to catering to tourists is likely the reason for it being expensive compared to other food in Lisbon. Friendly staff, very attentive. Because of cost I would only come back with a group of friends as a "last night in Lisbon" kind of celebration.

The food was pretty good for a neighborhood restaurant but some of it very bland. I wouldn't rush back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, but we were basically ignored.
After making a reservation for 2 we arrived to an empty restaurant with one table occupied. The waiter that greeted us contemplated where to put us-Yes the back corner! A ready table with beautiful appetizers. We waited for 20 minutes for menus and another 25 minutes to take our order. I asked twice for a wine list and in the intervening time three other tables were seated and wines decanted. Our dinner came and the wine 5 minutes later with no decanter. The food was excellent. I asked for the bill after espresso and that took another 45 minutes (after asking twice), when I finally walked to the payout and handed my card to the tender. I don't know what to say to my friend that is a regular and recommended going?!?
Be the first to ReplyOkExcellent Portuguese food and atmosphere.
Waiter speaks English even though most customers were locals. Great portions and the menu was very authetic. Would come back if there's time! We stumbled upon this restaurant after exploring XL Factory nearby. For 2 people including cheese/bread, 2 main courses, 1 bottle of wine and a dessert, our bill came to 60 euros.

A very nice traditional Portuguese Restaurant, with some really good quality and delicious food. We made reservations and our table was ready for us. What was interesting and a rather new experience for me, was that when we arrived, our table was ready with a bunch of appetizers. The way it works is, they present to you about 10 - 11 appetizers from their menu, you check the prices, and decide what you want.We got the mushrooms, peppers, sardines, pork liver as our appetizers. Sardines were a bit oily and okay in taste. Very fishy! Mushrooms were surprisingly the winner.. absolutely delicious seasoning. Pork liver had a very strong taste and personally, I am not a big fan of that. For main course, we shared our entree. Grilled fish and meat with mussels.. both were quite delicious. We also ordered a bottle of wine and for dessert tried their traditional rice pudding.Overall, it was a good experience with some delicious food! Service was excellent and the waiters understood and spoke English!
