Be the first to ReplyFine dining in Clapham
Great if slightly quirky Clapham restaurant, located in a side street but don’t let that fool you, this is a seriously good place to dine, food is delicious and not too expensive either, recommended

Where to start… incredible food, fantastic setting, unbelievable price. Food was faultless, good portion sizes and great taste. Service really solid too. Very rustic and warm setting perfect for couples or a family meal. Without a doubt the biggest plus point was the incredible value for money, so well priced for Michelin star food, almost spat my water out when the bill came. Can’t wait to visit again soon.
Be the first to Reply2nd visit for table of 6 Birthday celebration
Very good service again, and our table was spacious and good position next to the bar at the rear of the restaurant. Great atmosphere, and food was lovely, enjoyed by all. The star was the Pappardelle Ragu, which 3 of us ordered and was totally delicious. The Gnocchi was very well received, and one chose the delicious Agnolotti. Great starters which we shared; we ordered 2 of the Truffle Arancini, 2 aubergine (amazing), 2 Burrata, and Focaccia. All great choices, and would happily order the same menu all over again. Bottle each of Merlot and Vermentino, both at £36 each (bit pricey, but it's Clapham Common) and a glass of Rose. Total £250, including 12.5% service. Tucked away down a side street, it's a wonderful local restaurant, very good service, and well made food.

LOCATION: 4/5 Located on a quiet street. Parking before 6.30pm can be tricky. Some parking available for non residents. We paid £3.00 for 45 minutes. HOSPITALITY: 5/5 Table reservation before arriving was handled well and inspired confidence. Warm greeting by all staff on arrival. Sterling table service. Our thanks to Osman for his attention to detail without being intrusive as well as for guiding us on our order. Waiting time between courses was well-managed. The table was booked for 2 hours (ample time) and at no stage did we feel pressurized. AMBIENCE:3.5/5 On arrival we were pleased with the cozy and casual setup. Walls left in natural brick/stone lightly adorned with woven rope patterns (effective). However, the background music was much too loud (perhaps soft instrumental music could create a more 'calming' experience?). By the time the restaurant filled up the noise level was quite oppressive and it was virtually impossible to have a conversation at the table without raising one's voice. The issue of acoustics needs to be addressed for the dining experience to be pleasurable. DINING EXPERIENCE: 4/5 Lovely stone tableware. All dishes very well presented and evidence of fresh ingredients. The limited menu (a good sign) caters for vegetarians as well and the drinks menu (a tad dear) offers a range of mainly Italian wines. We decided to order several cicchetti and antipasti dishes as 'tapas' and this worked well. Our choices included: Sicilian olives (perfect!), truffle arancini ('eat me, eat me now' experience - oozing with truffles in a creamy sauce), Sorella's focaccia (freshly baked, light and each mouthful a wholesome joy), Burrata (mild, appetising ), Beef tartare (profoundly beautiful and eatable). We awaited further culinary delights and were not disappointed with our choice of Primi - Pappardelle with lamb ragu (oh my! richest, glossiest of stews which cling to every ribbon of pasta), the Squid ink agnolotti was serviceable ( a little on the salty side). Secondi: BBQ monkfish (expertly cooked but the wee portion of accompanying courgettes was overly salted ), Dexter beef served with hispi cabbage got the thumbs up. The portions are not generous for the secondi and the prices are in the upper double figures. Dolci at Sorella's are light, refreshing and memorable. We had the White chocolate and salted caramel tiramisu (heavenly!) and the cardomom panna cotta with poached rhubarb and shortbread (divine!). We shall return to sample some more dishes on their menu.

Celebrated a birthday here with family. The staff were wonderful and helped make the celebration very special. The food was outstanding and there was a good selection of wines. Will definitely be returning.

A beautiful Italian gem in Clapham. Authentic home style food, with excellent flavour combinations and a beautiful ambience. Took my wife for her birthday and we loved it, food was great, service impeccable and wine was good too. Reasonably priced for the area. Keep up the good work.

Amazing food, lovely staff, great atmosphere. Highly recommend - a hidden gem. The ragu a must as are the cocktails! Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food but very busy, HOMEMADE Limoncello
Two of us had a table next to the window at the front, and by 7:30 the restaurant was totally full. We went mid-week, and the only main complaint was that we had to ask to have the music turned down as the speakers were right next to our table. We weren't the only one's to complain, and the staff were very good in turning the music down right away, so we could relax and enjoy our meal. Food for 2 was £99, including £11 service charge, so not cheap. The quality of the food was very good, including starters; excellent Steak Tartare £9, delicious Truffle Arancini £4, delicious Aubergine Parmigiana (recommend all of these). We both ordered the same main course, Mushroom Tagliatelle, which I would take with me to a dessert island if I had to choose one pasta dish, £30 for 2. The wonderful pottery dishes for serving were fabulous. Dessert was a sharing Panna Cotta, but the best thing on the menu was the HOMEMADE Limoncello!!! Tried 2 wines, Brunito Toscana and Connubio, both lovely.
Just off Clapham Common / High Street, very easy to find, down a side road, with a very unassuming frontage. We're going back very soon as we want to try the monkfish! Very friendly staff.
Great food, shocking service
The food was good but service was shocking. Felt like we were being rushed to leave the whole time, ta our condiments away before we’d even finished eating a bite of our starter, as soon as we’d finished plates were removed and whilst enjoying our bottle of wine it was taken and poured into our glasses without us even asking.
Be the first to ReplyStaff were wonderful
I have to say there was not one staff member we came across who was anything other than wonderful, friendly and helpful.
The food that we had was very tasty.
My only complaint is that the portion sizes were very small. We had a starter and a main each, and actually ended up picking up some pizza on the way home. I wasn't sure if you were supposed to get more than one main, but to be honest the price would have got have got out of hand if that's the case especially for pasta.
Anyway, I would definitely visit again, would just make sure I'm not mega hungry!
Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved Sorella- fab atmosphere, attentive staff, great wine, and absolutely delicious food. Also very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyOverall disappointing
I really wanted to love Sorella. There were some positives, the cocktails were lovely and the truffle arancini were incredible. The parmigiana was delicious. The burrata with fig and walnut should have been great, but the figs were unripe and the walnut was more like ground walnut - it needed the texture from more diced not powdered nuts. But the real disappointment was the mains. I had Denver steak and it was so chewy as to be difficult to eat. The courgette with it tasted burnt and there wasn't much other flavour on the plate. My friend had the octopus and nduja pasta. It was very fishy and the nduja flavour didn't come through. A side note, but the music is so loud in there that we had to leave to go to the pub to chat properly. I would maybe go back one more time if they review their menu but overall we were both disappointed.

Had a lovely time for an anniversary with my picky boyfriend who ended up loving the food. Our experience was made 10x better by our AMAZING waitress I believe her name was Sara who helped make our night magical.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful evening
From start to end a wonderful evening. We were greeted by enthusiastic staff who were polite and very welcoming. The menu was full of delicious dishes and we asked our waiter to talk us through what she recommended. She was articulate and able to describe the dishes in detail which created ease in selection. The food service was great and the food even better. Great, fresh and interesting flavours throughout. We asked if we could have a slight pause between courses which was no problem for the staff. We felt welcomed and relaxed and left full and happy. Thank you to all the team at Sorella. We will see you all soon.
