Best Brunch in a Very Long Time!
They have perfected brunch. Supperland was a “religious experience” with their beautiful interior and elegant serving plates. The attentive staff made sure that we were pleased in every way. The best oysters on the half sell with a tasty mignonette. The best sauce for the shrimp cocktail. We arrived at opening to avoid long lines at the serving stations. The head chef Chris made it a point to bring to our table freshly made Brussel Sprouts. Perfectly cooked eggs Benedict. Cassidy, our server was amazing and kept checking on us and replacing the plates with clean ones. I decided on green jasmine tea to go with the cutest finger sandwiches. The drinks brought to the table for my companions were creative and tasty. Our hostess Victoria seated us near their bright and beautiful large windows. We hope to return to enjoy the full menu. Much gratitude for a wonderful experience.

What an experience! Kate did an amazing job taking care of us. Great atmosphere, drinks, and dinner. Three of us split two mains, two sides, and two appetizers.
Be the first to ReplyJust what we wanted for a birthday dinner!
My wife and one of our sons took me to Supperland for a birthday dinner. What a treat! The restaurant is a renovated church, nicely done and well-appointed. The booths and tables are ample and well-spaced, providing a comfortable dining experience. During our dinner, the noise level was moderate – we easily engaged in conversation. Portions are large so yes, this is a “sharing place.” Our appetizer of charred wedge salad and chimichurri shrimp was perfectly prepared and enough for the three of us. For dinner, we opted for the 16 oz. Wagyu strip, medium rare, and it arrived warm, cooked to order, and perfectly sliced. Again, it was plenty for all of us. Sides of smashed potatoes (not so imaginative) and roasted brussels were good. We opted to split the Banana Pudding Sundae and it, too, was ample for us three and oh so good! Service – attentive, prompt, and we were never left looking for our server. The sommelier, Michael, was across the room when he spotted us gazing at the wine list and came directly to the table to offer his assistance. He didn’t flinch when we asked him about one of the lower-priced Italian wines, served it promptly to let it breathe, and then visited the table often to ensure our glasses did not run dry. We’d read that parking can be difficult, but easily found a free surface lot about three blocks from the restaurant. We noted two other paid lots as we walked to the restaurant and on this early Friday evening, there were plenty of spots still available. All in all a wonderful experience. Pricy, so I doubt we’ll be regulars, but we do look forward to returning again on a date night.

We almost didn’t try this place with so many “good but not great” reviews but glad we did! The food was yummy! The service was solid all around and there were plenty of options (including 4 or 5 daily specials). Very cool atmosphere with various unique seating options. Cocktail menu also is loaded with great choices. Definitely worth checking out!

After reading many news articles and publications regarding the much anticipated opening of this restaurant, my husband and I ventured about 30 min from a suburb to dine at Supperland. The restuarant is in the heart of Plaza Midwood and there is no parking, we were left to drive in circles around numerous blocks looking for a space that wasn't a designated tow-away zone. The restaurant is in a converted church, very lovely with a modern yet romantic/cheek vibe. Our waitress was very attentive and knew the menu well, our drinks were never left empty. The food was prompt. I think our only negative was the menu selection. With the potluck style menu, there is not much creativity or excitement. We ordered Sausage Gravy croquettes for appetizer and it was tasty, lots of flavor but it wasn't spectacular. We had the pork can-can for main alongside mushroom risotto and brussell sprouts. All of the food was good, we ate a LOT and still had leftovers. The Risotto had great flavor, the brussel sprouts were tart and crunchy, I appreciated the textures. The pork was good. Overall we left saying, "this was good, but not great." I think the lack of excitement on the menu was a disappointment, basic veggies and chicken, pasta, pork that I can replicate at home. I think if we are going to drive 30 min for another date night we will pick elsewhere with a more ecclectic menu offering more exciting and creative dishes.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Experience
We visited Supperland last night for a birthday celebration. With great expectation of good food and service, we were left very disappointed. Although the environment was aesthetically pleasing, the lack of communication regarding the menu availability shifted our good vibes to disappointment. Although we appreciated the initial service of our waitress to get water and drinks, she was unknowledgeable of the food selection, and much of our order was not available. Upon finally getting what we did order, the blandness of the food was less than appealing and that caused our group to leave most of the food on the table.
Be the first to ReplyGood not great
The ambiance was great, and the knowledgeable sommelier was a very nice touch; however, it was incredibly loud (courtesy of the high ceilings), and my steak was overcooked. We will return but we are not in a rush.

It took me 3 times trying before I made it, but it was worth the wait. The staff was very pleasant, did a nice job of explaining the "shareable" concept and guided us appropriately through the menu. Great specials on both food and wine, and a truly enjoyable dinner. The only drawback to the evening was the space itself. Because it was a church at one time, it was open and loud. It was difficult to have a conversation. If you want intimacy, probably not the right spot. But, if you want good food at a good value, I highly recommend.

The atmosphere was incredible, as well as the wait staff. We started off with perfect martini (gin and vodka) cocktails. The lamb, mac and cheese, pot roast and pork were wonderful! Dessert was to die for. I can't wait to return someday again when I visit Charlotte (hint: I might return just to eat at Supperland). Thank-you for an unforgettable experience!

I read about Supperland in Bon Apetit magazine prior to a business trip to the area and knew my colleagues and I had to eat there. We made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance to ensure we had a spot during our business trip. At first glance the prices seemed steep; however, the server explained that the dishes were meant to be shared family-style. This turned out to be a super delicious and affordable meal. We shared the crab cakes, chicken and a huge, sliced rib eye cooked to perfection.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely wonderful!
Old church transformed into a fantastic dining space. We were lucky enough to sit outside on a fairly warm night with an excellent server. Heat lamps were on standby when we wanted warmth. Food was unbelievably good! Every menu item was drool worthy. Top notch wine list to boot. Fun vibes bar is on the property, although separate from restaurant and a speak easy which requires reservations in advance. Can’t wait to go back to be in both. Interior seats are a bit loud.
Be the first to ReplyUnique dining experience, very good..but not great. Here's why...
After reading the glowing reviews and the international attention showered on Supperland, we were anxious to go...but also realistic in our expectations. We have a very nice evening at this beautiful restaurant...had excellent service (Thanks Jason) but want to be realistic and honest about our food experience. Here's a rundown of what we ordered: Roasted Oysters-Not to our liking...fairly tasteless even with the theatrical presentation of a smoked broth. We felt they were underseasoned. Sausage Gravy Croquettes-Absolutely delicious. Next time we'll get a double order. Skewered Wedge-Best of this was the bacon lardon and bleu cheese-worst was the wilted lettuce. I know...it's charred...shame on me for ordering it. I like my wedge's crispy cold. Wagyu Pot Roast-Mouth watered all day thinking about this. The taste of this dish was great...but the Wagyu was on the tough side...overcooked...although I'll admit I wondered in advance how they were going to keep the delicate fat intact in the meat while stewing it. They didn't. Roasted Poulet Rouge-Received high praise. BBQ Beef Ribs-Ridiculously good...fabulous sauce and four massive meaty ribs. Chocolate Peanut Butter Sundae-Delicious....delicious....yes, delicious. Especially the chocolate marshmallow atop. Nice generous pours on the cocktails and wines...excellent service, and yes, we'll be back to try the rest of the menu. One note...it gets noisy with the high ceilings...but if you sit at the Chef's counter, you escape much of that.

Having this in an old church is a great use of the space. Plus, the food quality matches the space. Service was well-coordinated. You can tell they’ve developed great teamwork. I ordered the Port Can Can, but unfortunately they ran out after I placed the order. In its place, I had the Pork “Porterhouse”, which was outstanding. Loved the cherry-mustard compote. Definitely worth the visit.
Be the first to ReplyRustic Dinner in a restored church
Appetizers: baked Brie bites and cornbread.
Entree: prime filet. Size perfect for sharing. Mouth watering, tender.
Sides: roasted carrots + smashed potatoes l
Desserts: key lime pie and pecan pie with chocolate + cherry. Cherry adds different taste to traditional pecan pie
Friendly waitstaff
Delicious food
Amazing!
First off, the open dining room and open kitchen was awesome to walk into. They really kept the bones of the church very well intact. The food is more of a journey than a meal. It started with oysters with butter that had a little ember from the wood in butter poured all over them. Then each dish that came after seemed to be a journey through upscale southern cooking. We’ll definitely go back next time we visit CLT!
Be the first to ReplyCool place, excellent food
We had a large group in town for an engagement party. Because of the way the restaurant is set up they put us at two tables. The restaurant is in an old church and is sort of a tribute to church potlucks. Some of the seats are pews. It is a fun concept. The drink menu has some interesting choices and the drinks are all good. We especially enjoyed the gin and tonic Spanish style. The wine list is nice, a bit overpriced. The food is meant to be enjoyed family style. We had the ribeye steak (18 oz is too big for one person but works well when sharing) and the lobster, both of which were excellent. Our other table really loved the Wagyu pot roast. The mac and cheese was excellent but the smashed potatoes were a bit bland. Overall a great experience.

Wow. Just got home from a great evening at Supperland within my partner. The evening started out with our server, Kennedy, introducing herself. When I asked her what she liked on the menu, she took the time to methodically walk through the menu and describe the flavors in each of her favorite dishes. Kennedy was articulate in her thoughts and her description of the dishes and I was impressed. Often times, when you ask the question, you get a simple response like ‘people seem to like the beef’. Kennedy continued to deliver excellent service through the the night.
Now for the food…. For our starters, we had the sausage and gravy croquettes and the Brie bites with marmalade. Both were quite tasty, but the croquettes were the standout. For supper, we had the wagyu pot roast with smashed potatoes, charred carrots and corn salad. Again, all of the food was excellent. We have been to many ‘modern South’ restaurants, but this is by far the best I have sampled - and somehow they managed to do it all without a deviled egg on the menu :-)
I should also highlight the setting, which is a renovated church from the early 50’s. The main dining area is a cool combination of old church and modern style with tall ceilings and an open kitchen. In a separate building is the bar area which has a similar vibe. We also met Ken, part of the management team. We had a nice conversation about opening the restaurant and the menu. It’s clear a lot of thought and care has gone into the restaurant and it shows. We look forward to our return.
