Sushi Ogawa 鮨小川 Washington Reviews from The Last Year
I'm Japanese and I've been to many omakases in the U.
S. as well as in Japan, but I've never been served that much food in such a short amount of time. Clearly we were rushed to catch up with a party that had started 30 min earlier. If they wanted to serve the entire counter together, they probably should not have accepted a reservation later than everyone else. We were there for barely an hour and a half and it felt like we were being force fed by the end. Fish was fresh but they were all pre-sliced which meant that every piece lost flavor while it was sitting. Rice was too soft and poorly shaped (which you could see when we began eating only the fish). I also found it funny to see miso soup served in a bowl for clear broths. The chawan mushi is supposed to be a delicately-flavored custard but it was cold and salty. The dessert of ice cream at the end was so flavorless, I couldn't tell what the flavor was supposed to be. I think it was maybe vanilla but it had a purple tint. I went in thinking this was an authentic establishment and it seems like it no longer is. Disappointing.

Loved this tons of food and fish was fresh the ambiance was a little flat but the food and saki made up for it... this is a must go!
I would give the omakase experience 10 stars if I could!
I would give the omakase experience 10 stars if I could! The food, the presentation, the explanations, all outstanding! Our favorites were the fatty tuna and the cod, but with so many offerings, it's hard to choose. This is a complete evening dining experience. Do not rush; add a bottle saké, relax and enjoy. It's expensive but sooo worth it!
A wonderful Omakase experience in Washington, D.
C. Superbly fresh and meticulously prepared. Hats off to the staff who were so warm and welcoming. A small piece of Japan in the Nation's Capital.

this place is WAYYYYY overpriced they charged me 16 flipping dollars for 2 GLASSES of sparkeling water. WATER. in total I got 3 rolls 2 miso soups and 2 sparkling waters and a coke and my total was $88 + an additional tip. The food was good but not worth it.

Very serviceable if you're into great quality and hard to source fish. No frills and pricey, so expect that. I was very impressed by the generous portions. Definite return
The food here was really good.
I order the special sushi assortment and the fish was super fresh.

Food was good and fresh and service was attentive and polite. I was a little confused by the 20% service charge. I asked "is this a tip". Was told it's a service charge. I'm still confused what the purpose of the charge. I was a single diner..

I had such high hopes, but they were quickly dashed by lack of attention to detail and a focus on filler vs sushi. Skip this place and go to Sushi Nakazawa instead. The staff was the only saving grace, kuddos to the wonderful people that work there. We sat down and immediately saw problems, the linen table cloth was stained in multiple locations and was so wrinkled to the point that it stood out. When I'm paying over $200pp for a meal I expect to have a nice experience. We got the 4 course omakase meal, I really didn't know what to expect as there wasnt a lot of info about on their site that I could find. The meal was nicely paced but included a lot more non-sushi items than I expected. We got things like Miso soup and egg custard with crab. We also got a total of 12 pieces of nigiri. The nigiri was solid but there was only 1 or 2 pieces that blew my mind. I hate to keep comparing to Sushi Nakazawa but they are in a class of their own in DC offering the same type of experience. I feel like the times I have eaten at Sushi Nakazawa the nigiri has been amazing and the service next level. While the staff here are amazing, the level of service at Sushi Nakazawa is unparalleled. The meal by no means was bad, the fish was fresh and good but for the price we paid I was disappointed and Sushi Nakazawa offers a better experience and better quality IMO for the price and is in a much easier location to reach.

Cyndy's Bottom Line: ok sushi *Reservations on TOCK for prepaid omakase or Sushi A La Carte in dining room. $25.00 deposit non refundable *Street parking if you are lucky otherwise use car service This is what we ate/drank: *Kirin beer and sake were complimentary since the $25.00 deposit is non refundable, kanpai! Mahalo. *Shrimp tempura (2) pieces The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The tempura batter was light and flat with no crispiness. *Extra Special Sushi Assortment 30 Chef selection pieces of nigiri sushi; including salmon roe (ikura) and sea urchin (uni) with two rolls. We enjoyed most of the sushi. The standouts were the hamachi, sake, and toro nigiri. Surprised to be served the knifejaw fish which is a fish that I normally do not have a desire to eat raw. The dining room is comfortable except for the black gnats flying around. Makes for an entertaining challenge of catching a gnat with your chopsticks.
Oh My God!!! The best sushi you will ever eat! You will pay
Oh My God!!! The best sushi you will ever eat! You will pay the price for the quality... it is also the most expensive sushi you will ever eat. I was surprised that on our second visit the service slipped a bit... we had to ask for soy sauce and wasabi! I was also surprised to see a 20% tip included... I almost doubled it! Be warned. The sushi is so good these complaints are nothing! Worth every penny!

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
