I was looking forward to this first challenge๐ญ
I usually go to "Mughal" for Indian food, but I heard that this place is really delicious, so I went there with my wife. There were a lot of people waiting in front of the restaurant ๐ฒ I'm glad we made a reservation in advance ๐ When we entered the restaurant, it was a small, old-fashioned eel's bed, and we had to pay in advance and order at the entrance without any knowledge, which was really annoying. My wife ordered a full meal (2,300 yen), and I ordered a non-veggie meal (1,750 yen) with chicken, shrimp podiyaruwal, and Kirin beer. I thought the beer would come when we sat down, but there was no sign of it, so we had to go to the cashier at the entrance to get it. . . ๐ป After a while, six curries, yogurt, Thai rice, a thin dish like chapati, and parota (Danish) came on one plate. And shrimp came too. However, everything was so spicy that I was sweating and it wasn't very tasty so I could barely eat it ๐ฃ Why does a restaurant like this have a Michelin star... โ It's unbelievable โโโ When I think about how many more times I'll be able to eat food in my life, I regret having eaten such a bad curry... I don't think I'll ever come back, and I'm glad I didn't go to dinner at TADKA2... Mughal, I'm sorry for cheating on you m(__)m

Well, I almost don't want to give this secret away, but this is the best Indian restaurant in Kyoto, and likely the best in Japan. It is a great place to get lunch, and quite centrally located for sight-seeing. There is sometimes a line, but it is worth the wait. The owner and staff are all very nice, though they do stop serving lunch promptly at 2:15. Cozy and casual. Definitely recommend if you like Indian cuisine.
Be the first to ReplyAverage budget restaurant operated by Japanese
This is a budget Indian restaurant operated by some Japanese. Thali is mainly south Indian meals. So, if you are expecting north Indian meals don't come here. Options are limited but considering the low cost, it's may be value for money.
The main cons are:
1. Not much clean
2. As operated by Japanese, don't expect to communicate in any Indian language
3. Beverage quality is ordinary (e.g. mango lassi)
4. Need to pay at the beginning, like a food court
5. Limited space, not suitable for a group or comfortable dinner/lunch...just okay for quick food at low budget
Worst Indian Restaurant in Kyoto !!!
Do not waste your time. Try another restaurant. Owner is is Japanese and probably racist, denied entry to an Indian ?!! Never going back and Its a small seedy joint with nothing else around. Check out Himalaya nearby, amazing reviews, great food and most importantly warm welcome and great service. Worst experience at any restaurant, avoid !!

This is by far the most authentic Indian restaurant in Japan. Limited menu but really tasty. Unlimited Indian chai is the main attraction.
