Buddy set recommended
Tanyu opened its Tampines 1 branch after the renovation and they have an attractive deal for lunch which offers a choice of 2 fish dishes, appetizer, a drink and 2 bowls of rice ( meant for 2 persons). We picked the signature seabass with green peppers and the spicy grilled fish . Both were delicious, the fish fresh and tender without any small bones, plenty of vegetables, tofu sheets, potato and lotus root in the grilled fish. Portions were generous and kept warm on the burners. Our chosen appetizers, steamed okra and chilled cucumber slices were excellent too. Drinks included canned lemon sprite and mineral water. However, not all dishes come together. We had to wait quite long for the grilled fish and the second appetizer though the drinks were promptly served. The Buddy set is priced at $32 and comes to about $39 with service charge and GST, very reasonable for such a sumptuous meal but small eaters may have to 'da bao' some of it as quantities are large and you may need more than one bowl of the delicious Wuchang rice to do justice the strong flavours of the soup and sauce.

Those images of big steaming fish covered in green chilli had caught my attention. However I was left disappointed. The fish was super salty. Appetisers such as mushrooms and eggplant nothing to write home about. Costed me almost 100SGD for 2 peopleand I didn’t feel it was worth those money.

Poor service, was seen the next table beside me being ask if any soup or cutting of fish required. Hence, none of the staff, came over to our table and asked. We have to get their attention to add soup on our dish.

Very delicious and authentic grill fish with different flavor. You can choose 1 flavor for a whole fish, such as spicy, beancurd and signature etc. No small fish bone in side the fish, easy to have a large part of it. The price is reasonable. 2 people ordered 1 fish, two rice, 2 side dishes, 1 bottle of beer, the price is S$87. The only disadvantage is that 2 people seats are too close to other seats, not convenient for guest to chat, afraid to be heard by neighbors strangers.

I think people that comes here must really like spicy fish. If not, there aren't many side dishes to choose from.
Be the first to ReplyNever ever again!
Your frontline staff manager told us today lunchtime we couldn’t go in even though 3 of us were already here waiting for past 1 hour because he couldn’t add 1 more person when my friend may or may not turn up as he did not reply. We do not understand why there is the difference between a table for 3 and 4, and the inflexibility of your entry policy, even though we will be ordering straightaway. It definitely ruin our dining experience on our birthday month and to us it is an integral part of your branding and customer service which can be improved much.
Be the first to ReplyFish is good for you are a fish lover
Ordered the green pepper grilled fish. The fish is smooth and nicely grilled. The favour from the spice is great.
Would visit here again!
Slow Service, food was good
Food took 45min to be served. Ridiculous wait time considering the restaurant was half empty during off peak hour. Seated beside the kitchen and watched how the food was placed on the counter for 5 minutes before a waiter even bothered to serve the food. Happened many times. Food was good
Be the first to ReplyNice but Overrated
I reached there at 5pm plus and managed to get a table without waiting. Good service. The fish is fresh, tender and not too salty; however, the taste is overrated. The price is expensive too.
Be the first to ReplyFish was fresh and service was top-notch
The waitress was very active in handling and pre-empting our needs, such as topping up our tea and clearing our plates. Food wise, I tried the green pepper fish and it was really tasty. The fish was fresh and the heat was just nice for me. However, do note that the dish can be quite numbing (like mala) so if you do not like that sensation, its best to order something else.
Be the first to ReplySumptuous Fish really really
Sumptuous Fish really really gd, worth it, come down and try. Something not to be missed. For fish lovers
Be the first to ReplyVery tasty but not worth the wait
We went to take queue number at 7.15pm on Wed night and the lady advised that it would be a 1.5h wait. We know that there would be a long queue so am prepared to wait. Input our number into their queue system and received an sms with a URL link to check on the queue number. It's a very good system! So we could shop around in the mall and not have to wait outside the restaurant and head back just when our number is near. Truely, about 1.5hr later, we were urshered to our table. However, after placing our order, we waited another 30min for our fish to arrive. And as we began to dug in, a staff came around to ask for last order. Wao! Which means, if we were to arrive at about 7.30pm, we may not be given the chance to take a queue number!
We ordered Grilled fish in green pepper. The choice of fish was Ling Bo. Very tasty fish, and the soup was very flavourful. And they do top up soup when it gets dried up. Fish is really the main dish as they have limited option for ingredients top up to be added into the dish. Total bill $90 for a fish, some vege topups, bun and drinks for 3pax. Not very filling. All in all, I will come by again to eat only if the queue time is not so long.
Try try lah
Miss trying it when in China..glad they branch over to Singapore...
I had QingJiang Fish with green pepper with add on potato, lotus root, mushroom n crab stick... it was a little spicy n soup a bit too salty for Singapore locals... I ask for additional soup to lessen the saltiness
Overall worth a try with a big group...nice ambience n fast service..
Awesome Fish but Waiting time is HORRIBLE
Heard of many good reviews. At last went to tried on a Monday Night Thought won't have a Queue but surprisingly still need to Queue for about 30 mins, Not too long though. Ordered before we went in to our table. Waited for almost an hour for my food to arrive. Done ordered at 8.38pm food came at 9.33pm they closed at 10pm. By the time we were seated the restaurant wasn't really crowded or full house. The waiting time was HILARIOUS. No doubt the fish was fresh and good but no more second time.
Be the first to ReplySpicy is Everything
Signature grill fish is too spicy to my liking. Overall the service and ambience are better than the foods. Suggest to have free flow drinks instead of ala carte.
Be the first to ReplyAwesomely Good Fish!!
Finally got a chance to try out the grilled fish at Tanyu. They had a few variations of flavours that you can choose from. If unsure, you can always go for the chef's recommendation stated in the menu. We went for their signature green chili fish and it was Awesome. Fish meat was tender and fresh and the sauce was full of flavour. You can add on some side dishes to go together with the fish. Is better to make a reservation before going as the wait is normally crazy. Will definitely be back again to try out other flavours.
