Tarrant's West Manakin Reviews from The Last Year
Tarrants is consistent and a local fave of mine.
I love it when I need a solo date and sitting at the bar or high tops is great and offers the happy hour menu for really decent hours. I also love it for group dinners and they do a great job on service accommodating large groups. I can say this has been true on different service times like brunch and dinner. There are so many food options to choose from, which is why it's a great choice for groups needing variety. The she crabby (she crab) soup is ahhhmazing and a must anytime you step in the doors. The crab dip is equally amazing and allegedly shareable haha but just so good. Whenever I get a taste for a club sandwich this is also a place I think of and enjoy theirs. I visit frequently, but over the years honestly brunch is probably where I've dined here the most. For dinner they serve dinner rolls also, and for brunch cinnamon icing rolls which are so yummy. I'm such a creature of habit when I find a meal I really like, but lately have been trying new foods there, like the salmon. Dinner entrees are good, but I do feel like the brunch and lunch options are best and what they seem to be more favorable and well known for. Give it a try!

Me and my boyfriend were in town and decided to get a bite to eat. When on yelp we came across this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We had such an amazing experience. Great staff, our bartender was awesome. The food was unreal. We had a fig and pig pizza which was a 10/10 and chicken cord on blue. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. Anytime we stop in Richmond we will be coming back!
This was my first time eating here.
It was during RVA restaurant week. I ordered chicken cordon bleu, onion straws, Cesar salad, brownie w/ ice cream. The onion straws were delicious. I could order them as a main entree and be happy. Our server was friendly and helpful. The cordon bleu was the smallest pieces I've ever seen in my life and very dry even with the mustard sauce (which was still no help), the salad was pretty good and they have a chicken Cesar salad wrap I saw on the menu that I'd be willing to go back and try WITH more onion straws of course.
Our company had catering service for boxed lunches.
It was amazing service and the food was perfect! Thank you!
Our food was terrific.
We started with fried calamari. Which they do a terrific job of here. It comes with two different dipping sauces. I also got the strawberry lemonade. Very good. On the tart side. Spouse got the pick two lunch. That also came with homemade style potato chips. Excellent. I got the red and golden beet salad. Half size with was more than enough. Apparently you get the same amount of beets just less greens. Our server was Rebecca. A wonderful server.
Disappointing in many ways
We’ve eaten before over the past two years and enjoyed the experience- NOT THIS TIME! Very sorry to report that this day was awful. The soup of the day - allegedly Tuscan white bean- was a glop of left over scraps and NO discernible beans. The “signature” crab soup had NO crab meat at all and an unusual taste (maybe that’s their signature?) Waitress was disinterested and had no idea why the bean soup wasn’t. By the way, if this bothers you, they suggest tipping amounts INCLUDING the local taxes which I find insulting. I tip for service and quality NOT for the computer’s ability to add a percentage tax to my bill. This place is no longer worth the effort to go to. Richmond has many other places to enjoy.

Walked in to a beautifully appointed restaurant with an upscale feel. Very cozy and comfortable . Jessica our server was super friendly and helpful. As it was our first time, we asked for suggestions and she freely walked us through her menu favorites and added fun conversation to boot. We had the spinach crab dip for a starter. Just lovely! I chose a New York Strip with a crab cake. Huge portions! Delicious meal. Steak cooked perfect medium rare! Hubs had their fish and chips and loved the lovely light batter and texture. Great place for an afternoon early dinner! Soooooo good!
Not recommended
24hours after eating here all 4 of us had food poisoning .Based on the food we ate I conferred with my doctor and was told the grill was probably contaminated. Horrible experience1

Service lack luster, fish tasted like frozen fish and the waitress was just a ding bat. A party of ten of us were there for my sisters birthday dinner, horrible. I will not be eating there again. Tip included in meal, that needs to be changed. We were there on the 17th.

One of the best happy hours in town! And best of all it happens every day. Food and drinks are always good. We love the fried green tomatoes as well as the crab dip and the Mahi-mahi tacos. The staff is always friendly and helpful; and Brea, Sydney, and Sarah are all excellent bartenders. They always go out of their way to say hello and engage in conversation. We highly recommend Tarrant's!
Excellent food and excellent service.
A lot of restaurants in this area lack any kind of charm, so I really appreciate the effort that was put into the interior design here. Makes it feel a lot more established than many of the strip mall joints out here in the suburbs. I'm looking forward to going back soon.
Nice ambiance.
Quiet. Fast and friendly service. We had dinner for 2 here on a Sat night. Wasn't very busy. We shared a humus and veggie platter as an app. My wife had a healthy salad and I had the goat and pear salad with herbed chicken. It's not quite casual and not quite fancy. Somewhere in between. Nice place for a date or to bring the fam and won't break the bank.
Friendly, Reasonable, Accessible and Tasty, Tarrant's West has it All
A small group of us who accepted a Buyout Offer from our employer have been meeting for lunch for several years. That stopped with Covid, like everything else---but we finally got together and chose Tarrant's West. We come from different parts of the city and area, with the majority of us living north of the James River. Tarrant's Location is reasonably accessible from any direction, but more important is the atmosphere in the SunRoom addition and the good food. They are easy to deal with when making reservations, are kind if you have to cancel, the staff is friendly beyond what you expect of someone being nice in anticipation of a good tip, and parking is plentiful. Also pleasant is the fact that even tho some of us are now getting on in years, the level of noise there is low enough that we can chat and hear one another at the table---without even having to try to talk any louder than normally! The prices are reasonable, the serving sizes plentiful, and in short--they can always be counted on to provide a very pleasant experience in every way.
Never served our family—left starving after waiting patiently for 2 hours
We made an early reservation on a Sunday night at 5:15 … We were never served our dinner! Unreal ! Feeling like fools, we left after waiting patiently for 2 hours. It actually brought our family closer since we now have a common enemy—Tarrant’s West!

Good Afternoon. It looks like you have requested a name transfer for Carbone NY. Unfortunately, this is one of the restaurants that is almost impossible to do name changes for. They don’t accept phone calls so they are difficult to change the reservations that were booked online.
