Cool and noisy
I am from out of town in fact from Melbourne so this is to some degree an outsider’s perspective. It is not a novel concept combining a wine shop with a restaurant but it is very well executed. And judging the crowd who was there on the night, no doubt, it does attract a aspirational crowd with a few hipsters thrown in. Yes, the food - very well cooked and executed but not amazing by the any means but it is fit for purpose. Certainly, there are at least 1/2 dozen places in Melbourne that could match Tesse in terms of the food. Excellent service and the wine list is diverse and it does cater for a number of budgets and tastes. An enjoyable evening and would have been more so without the loud music and noise but it is part of the package.
Be the first to ReplyTesse? Why Yes!
I've been here many times over the last few years. Brunch, lunch, and dinners have all been excellent. While the indoor space can get a little too loud with the music, it's the only drawback since the food and service are wonderful. From fun craft cocktails, amazing wine and cheese boards, great wine selection and superb menu choices, it's hard to make a miss with anything on the menu. This past week we did one of the wine dinner special evenings which was six courses of spot on cooking and perfect wine pairings. On weekend ends they open up the rear terrace area which overlooks the city which makes for a great evening.
Be the first to ReplySecret gem with inspired French focused cuisine and hand crafted cocktails.....
We were looking for a last minute brunch spot on a Sunday and were lucky enough to find Tesse and the lovely director of operations, Tawney. We arrived at 12pm, with a reservation for a table for brunch, instead we immediately wanted to sit at the bar. Tawney was warm, inviting and professional. She introduced us to Emma, bartender extraordinare. We instantly realized we weren't in a pretentious, over the top tourist trap on trendy Sunset Blvd. . Instead, we were welcomed into fine dining with an air of genuine hospitality. Stunning decor, classic, and modern vibe, curated for true lovers of food. Emma guided us thru the menu of options... first up, "The Life of Poblano" my husbands new favorite cocktail. I enjoyed, "Bye Felicia" .. a solid 10! Nothing pre-batched here all skilled bartending complimented by genuine conversation about what each client might enjoy. Pates, terrines , French toast, Short Rib sandwich & indulgent duck fat fries are all available. We leaned into the classics, French omelette, gem salad, chef's pate, and later order salmon toast (the best we have every had) Refined and elevated this dish left us wanting more) . Tawney was the reason we booked another brunch reservation onsite. We will be inviting a few friends to our new favorite restaurant. The best part is I had booked an online reservation for the August winemaker dinner (sight unseen) and had hoped it would be everything we could have hoped for to celebrate my husband's birthday. We will be in the best possible hands with Tawney and the team.
Be the first to ReplyTrendy, loud chic restaurant
Had the 5 course special. $35 each but $391 billl. for 4 w drinks and $8 bread etc. Variety and generous portions. Very oversalted. They corrected. Friendy but slow service. Very loud, can't talk easily or hear waiters and slow service. Good- looking room and people . Eat outside if you want to hear your company.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food. Good service. Highly recommended dining experience in West Hollywood.
Absolutely delicious food. We had the bone marrow, octopus, gem salad and the lobster sausage. All excellent. Very comprehensive wine list. A little short-staffed but service was OK on a not busy Sunday night. Highly recommended creative cuisine.

Be the first to ReplyAmazing! A must visit!!
Came here to celebrate a birthday for a friend and everything was amazing from start to finish. Fantastic meal! A bit of Paris in WeHo!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant on Sunset Strip
We chose this restaurant because somewhere I read they served French cuisine. I was thinking it would be an intimate French bistro. It definitely was not that, but it was great nonetheless. Service was wonderful and attentive, with a team of servers and the manager making sure we were well taken care of. We had the house salad for starters, which was full of unusual and delicious flavors. The whole Branzino fish followed, which we shared. It was delicious and very well prepared. This place has a great Hollywood vibe, and the people watching was an added bonus.

My wife and I were on a walk with no particular destination or reservations. We found Tesse and we’re glad we did. We enjoyed food, drinks and service. In particular we both thought the burrata and beef tartare were both outstanding. As first time diners, the server walked us through the menu, style of service and the chefs style of cooking. We would recommend this restaurant to visitors and locals!
Be the first to ReplyParis on the Strip
I've been to Paris more times than I can count. Seriously. This food is so good. Maybe the plating isn't totally French, bu the flavors are. You MUST try the duck fat fries. Drool .Swoon .Going back for more.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful restaurant with a lively vibe
A wonderful restaurant with healthy well-presented food. The service was very good (not great), but the lively vibe and great food made up for it. We liked it so much that we dined here 2 evenings in a row. Their pastas are amazing, as is their house bread.
Be the first to ReplyPrivate Event Well Done
My job used this place for a private event and the food and service were spot on! Couldn't have asked for better servers and the food kept coming, which was necessary with so many invitees. Very professional with great decor.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience, don't miss it!
Our table of 8 colleagues/clients had an amazing dinner sharing small plates so we were able to taste a wide selection of the menu including: Hamachi crudo (2), Gem salad, Radicchio salad, Blue crab (2), Charred cauliflower, Onion rings, Beef tartare, Lobster sausage, Bread & Butter (2), Grilled Carrots, Ravioles, Bone Marrow Bucatini, Charred Octopus, Steak frites, Local rock cod, Half chicken, Souffles (vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin). The only things I wouldn't get again would be the chicken and the cod. They left the bone from which they scraped the marrow for the bucatini sauce to pour shots of Madeira into our mouths - I passed on this but others said it was worth it. I was surprised that their wine pours are 3 ounces - never seen that before, but they're priced accordingly ($8-12/glass). The cocktails were all great and the bartender made me a vodka/mint/cucumber concoction that was delish. The ambiance is hip/foodie with a huge open kitchen providing entertainment. I would highly recommend.
