The Apparatus Room Windsor Reviews
GO FOR THE AMBIANCE.
A beautiful open space perfect for catching up with friends and family. The food is good, you're paying for the environment. Put your phone down and soak it in. (Forgot to take pictures of the entrees, whoops)
The apparatus room raised my definition of true hospitality.
Our server, Kate, and our sommelier, Alex, have hosted two excellent dinners in as many months. Alex's wine selections were top flight pairing perfectly with the localvore menu. Kate was most attentive without being intrusive. Our main dishes
One of the best smashburgers in the city! Great atmosphere.
Especially love it at Christmas time
First Choice in Detroit
Wow! What a beautiful place. The Apparatus Room is a converted early 1900's firehouse with large windows where the engines would leave from. The food was so good and Gerard, our waiter, was top-notch. The host shared with us the history of the f
Ate here twice because food was very, very good.
Particular shout out to the manager and to Kevin, who helped me out when I had dropped my wallet in the convention center!
The space is as beautiful as any restaurant in America.
A great part of Detroit's restaurant scene. Get the bread service! Our server was incredibly accommodating and friendly. The steak and orchiaetta were both perfect!
Beautiful ambiance, excellent service, unique & delicious
Beautiful ambiance, excellent service, unique & delicious cocktails, & delicious food. Would recommend the whitefish dip & the burrata on watermelon as an appetizer.

We had to call the waiter after waiting 45 minutes to place our order. The food was good, but not outstanding. It feels like you're paying more for the fancy atmosphere than for the quality of the food and service.

DO NOT BOOK EVENTS HERE We were so excited to host our wedding welcome party at Apparatus Room because of its reputation, but working with their private events team turned into one of the most stressful experiences we've had. From the start,
Great Restaurant
What a lovely restaurant. You can feel the history. The beautiful glazed brickwork was truly stunning. The server was wonderful food and drinks were exceptional.
The ambiance is lovely.
Lots of windows and beautiful lights. The food was below average and tasteless for brunch. The drinks were strong and good. Shout out to the bartender. Our service was bad. Long waits between drinks, coffee took long after cake was done. I would NOT
Bright and airy restaurant set in an old historic firehouse.
I had brunch with a few friends here which was nice and tasty, but overall pretty standard fare. What stood out here though was the decor and ambiance - the high ceilings, the bright natural lighting, the cozy lounge area, and the clean and sleek ope
After reading all the positive reviews and recommendations from friends, I took my team to dinner today and came back disappointed after spending $100pp. My biggest complaint is that we were surrounded by fruit flies and house flies throughout the ev
Not worth the money!
It was a hot night and it was very warm in the restaurant! Very pricey, and didn’t know about the 50% discount until reading on website the next day!
Fine Brunch Choice
This is a beautifully designed restaurant on the ground floor of a renovated fire station. The setting is nice, the brunch options were good, and service was friendly and attentive.
What a restaurant is supposed to be!
The Apparatus Room Restaurant, located within the Old Detroit Fire Department Headquarters, was the preferred May’s dining choice. The Gnocchi, Trumpet Mushroom, smoked whitefish dip, and Gem Caesar salad, featuring white anchovies, were all highly
Nothing special with a something special price tag
We were excited to visit the Apparatus Room after reading reviews on our trip to Detroit but we were left disappointed. The food was inventive and tasty, the atmosphere was fun and the service was fine but we certainly were not wowed. For starters, t
Apparatus Status YUM!

Fine Breakfast Choice
This is a very good restaurant in a beautiful space. The food is very good, the coffee is quite good, and service is friendly and pretty quick.
Excellent Bar
We had cocktails after a crushing Lions loss. The setting is beautiful, the cocktails were strong and very good, and service was excellent.

Let me start by saying we chose this restaurant because of reading about its inclusion on a list of James Beard semifinalists. We were a party of 4, 2 of which were running 15 mins. late. We ordered a bottle of wine and a cocktail. Sourdough bread wa
Good meal
I have eaten here several times and it is very good. The restaurant is gorgeous. Staff is great. Our waitress, Shelby, was outstanding. We decided to try the chef's menu and wine pairing. Most to the dishes were excellent, definitely a few not a
Surprisingly great meal in a beautiful building
I had one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten here- the Lake Superior walleye with beet reduction and spaetzle. The dish was perfectly balanced and the fish very fresh. The wine list was pretty good. The space is beautiful, high ceilings in a refurb
Quick, casual Sunday brunch.
Girard, our server, was attentive, friendly, and quick. Delicious cocktails and smoked salmon bagel sandwich.

We were there Saturday night for an early dinner before a concert. The building is really cool, nice restoration of an old firehouse. Things started out fine with our server, I can't remember his name. But about halfway through the meal his demeaner

I am a fan of The Apparatus Room.
I miss going for brunch and hearing the live jazz being performed. The breakfast was pretty good with the exception of the potatoes as they were way too salty. So salty to the point, I could not eat them. The bartendars were always cool.
Cute interior.
Drinks were good but we didn't love the food. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things but the flavor combos we didn't love.
Stopped in for date night.
Adam was so sweet, made us the best cocktails. The sourdough bread was delicious, they have a rotating butter?????? I love that. Expresso martini was immaculate. Will come in again for drinks. Vibe is 10/10. Lovely place
This restaurant was literally amazing.
We came to celebrate a special occasion and our waitress went above and beyond to make the night memorable. She gave us a complimentary champagne toast and dessert. The food was delicious as well. It was also super cute on the inside, and very pictur
Had a later reservation and the place was still pretty full.
Absolutely GORGEOUS restaurant with an amazing backstory as to why it's named what it is due to the location. Drinks were good but nothing crafty or unique. Took awhile to get the apps even though it was just oysters & bread plate. My partner g

Warm welcome, good service, quality drinks, tasty food...make for a special experience
While downtown to visit a couple places, we spontaneously wandered down to the Apparatus Room in the Foundation Hotel for drinks. Boy, did this place bring back memories. I worked downtown for 20 years and walked by the Detroit Fire Department HQ eve
Celebrate Detroit’s Revitalization & Dine Here
We picked this restaurant kind of last minute for a trip downtown for my mom’s birthday, and we had three generations there. We stumbled upon a complete gem. The history of this building, the architecture, combined with exceptional food, service, a
Excellent Restaurant
We had dinner and breakfast on this trip. Both meals were excellent. The setting is truly beautiful. Service was friendly and attentive too: We had dinner prior to a Lions game, and our server made sure to send us on our way by our requested departu
Disappointed.
I NEVER write a bad review. Food was just okay. Service was SLOW. AND…..they charge 2.5% credit card fee AND then charge tax even on that. Just leaves a sour taste. Was super excited but disappointed with the experience. :(
Quirky Restaurant in Detroit
Quirky restaurant with a nice choice of dishes. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Try the Waldorf Salad. The best I have ever had.
Excellent
Apparatus Room is a beautiful restaurant and bar. The food is very good. I found that service was mostly excellent-Hailey was our server for four breakfasts and was terrific. My last breakfast illustrated one of the weaknesses of Apparatus Room: serv
Save your palent and go elsewhere
Very clean and nice atmosphere. Beware food is not great. Heavy vinegar dressings on salads. For you oyster lovers, the oysters are covered in a strange marange and king salmon spawn, I don't do Oysters Rockefeller, purist give me some lemon and hors
Brunch was so slow
Brunch was disappointing. Our waitress seemed very scattered even though there weren't many people in the restaurant. Food was great, but all service parts could use help including the bar. Might need to try dinner for a different experience
Good but a bit on the Expensive side
Upscale and expensive drinks with a limited menu. Wait service were great. The food was good but expensive. An old fashion was $22. There were more shellfish items than land items. As a person allergic to shellfish I was limited in my choices.
Excellent Breakfast Choice
This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is good, though the menu is somewhat limited(eg, no omelets). Service was friendly, though a bit slow. But all in all, this is a great place to start the day.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to The Apparatus Room Windsor at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the The Apparatus Room Windsor page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* EternalAnt36, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* EternalAnt36 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to EternalAnt36 for any questions Peter may have as EternalAnt36 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* EternalAnt36 now uses their connections at The Apparatus Room Windsor to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If EternalAnt36 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, EternalAnt36 receives the $200 reward which is credited to EternalAnt36's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Apparatus Room Windsor!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
