I wanted to take my son somewhere for a great steak on his birthday. I had been to The Butcher's Block before with my husband. Excellent service - ambiance- and the steak will bring us back. We are already planning our next visit!

4.5 stars for a steak house that checks all the boxes for a great experience. *We had the spicy bolognese pasta, charbroiled oysters, Caesar salad, broiled brussel sprouts, and the salmon crudo for our sides. -- All our side dishes shone except for the salmon crudo. The Caesar salad has enough twang and bite, the Brussels spouts was perfectly charred and mixed in with a sweet and sour sauce topped with Capn Crunch cereal (believe me, for some reason it works). Our oysters were topped with butter and Parmesan, and the flavors were all there- would've loved to see more for the price and size of the oysters ($28 for 6) . The salmon crudo was lacking in flavor and was resting on a bed of thick cream sauce instead of a tart base. * For our steaks, we had the 45 day aged rib eye, and the Spinalis. -- our steaks were perfectly cooked to a medium rare, and the aged rib eye was cut and broiled well. For the price though I thought it could've had more oomph and seasoned like the likes of Peter Luger and the other solid steak establishments. The sizing was not as big as the price would demand, but overall it was a good steak. The Spinalis was expectedly tender. We had to ask for a side of salt for our steaks. * For drinks, we had the IPA, and 2 cocktails: one with spicy pear and one with yuzu. They are both regulars on their drinks menu, and they were both GREAT. * For dessert, we had the S'mores with Dulce de leche ice cream topped with a thick chocolate shell - superb! Ambience is cozy, romantic and upbeat depending on where you sit. They have the brick and chandelier thing going on which I love. They keep the lighting low and warm. Yet it doesn't effuse a study vibe, still casual and fun. valet parking for dinner and park your own for lunch. Reservations highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplySuch a good experience when we went last weekend.
The atmosphere and the food were exceptional. Pro tip: ask for no salt and add your own when you receive the steak; sometimes the Brazilian cooking method makes it too salty. Can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyDam good meal and great service.
Tom the Block rivals any steakhouse in NYC, Chicago, etc. great time tonight.
Be the first to ReplyThe wait was atrocious considering we had reservations.
The food was delicious; every course The music and the ambiance was by far the best Our waiter Brandon -- AMAZING. He made us feel at home and explained everything with patience. We sat in the back patio section but he needs to be in the main seating area so more guests can experience his service!
Be the first to ReplyAnother amazing night at The Butcher's Block.
Elegant atmosphere with a rustic twist. Love that you can watch the chef's cook over the high flames. Food is always delicious and service makes you feel like you are the only one your waiter is helping that night. Menu changes every few weeks so there is always something exciting to try. Started with the Winter Salad which was more than enough for two people and plenty to take home. The Spicy Rigatoni was perfect. Just the right amount of heat and a nice portion. Also ordered the short ribs Campanelle (shredded beef over fresh trumpet pasta shapes). I can't wait to go back for a third time.

Be the first to ReplyI had a wonderful experience and meal.
After visiting the hostess stand we were brought to the bar while we waited for our table. We got drinks and then went into the glass walk-in where the beef sommelier gave us the run down on the types of cuts and steaks that they serve. Once we were done there, our table was ready. Our server Steph ran through the menu with us and then brought over some breads focaccia and Italian brushed with a garlic parmesan oil and warmed in their wood fire oven. We then ordered the sausage appetizer, the bone in ribeye and the flank steak and spinalis which were both wagyu, brussel sprouts, mac & cheese, and for dessert the ice cream sandwich. Nothing disappointed. Our appetizer of sausage was the perfect tasting size for the four of us, it had both hot and regular pork sausage with broccoli rabe, crispy potatoes and cherry peppers. The steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The spinalis, which none of us ever had before, was favorite out of all three. It was so tender and juicy. The mac &cheese was one of the best if not the best I've ever had. The brussel sprouts were equally as delicious roasted and drizzled with hot honey and crushed captain crunch. For dessert we had a few espresso martinis which complemented the ice cream sandwich perfectly. Overall a fantastic meal. Going back for more in April!
Be the first to ReplyI really cannot express enough our thanks for our meal
I really cannot express enough our thanks for our meal tonight. We came 30 minutes early to our reservation. The restaurant was still being set up for dinner but the hostess was extremely nice and showed us to the bar and gave us a quick rundown on the restaurants operations since it was our first time. We had really amazing drinks from the first bartender that greeted us. I didn't catch his name but he gave us great recommendations and made us even better drinks. The steak presentation by the butcher was such a unique and cool experience! You could tell how much expertise and care went into each cut offered. For dinner we had the dream team of John, Katie, and Jimmy. Everyone in our section had such great personalities it made us feel like we were hanging out with friends. This includes the other waiter in our section as well. The garlic bread was great. We had the Octopus and Sausage as appetizers. The octopus was the best I've had and the sausage was delicious. The crispy potatoes and vinaigrette that came with the sausage went perfectly together. Next we had the Porterhouse, brussel sprouts, and cacio de pepe for our entree. The steak was sooooo good!!! The crust on it was perfect and it wasn't dripping or sloppy when cut. If you want a well done steak don't be disrespectful and come here ruining a great steak. The brussel sprouts were really cool. The addition of the captain crunch was surprising but really fun and perfect for how they were prepared. The cacio de pepe was glorious!! I wish I could go in the kitchen and see how they prepared it so I can copy it at home. For dessert we had the churro bowl. I recommend saving room to try this! The churro was light and not greasy at all. The salted caramel was my favorite flavor in the dish. John was so attentive and patient with everyone in our section. His explanations and recommendations were greatly appreciated. Katie was fast but precise with the drinks. Every drink came out looking like a work of art. And thank you for the champagne in celebration of our anniversary! Jimmy was moving quicker than I could think. An empty plate didn't sit on our table for more than a minute and the water was constantly refilled. Last but certainly not least at all are the managers Andrew and Ricky. We appreciate your kindness more than you may realize. Thank you so much as a whole team for the amazing evening! We left too quickly and forgot to make a reservation on the way out for next time, so we'll be stalking for the next open dates lol.

With all the hype, I wondered and hoped this place would live up to expectations. It absolutely did. The overall vibe is excellent. Food was the best I've eaten. It's hard to say what was our favorite because everything was - the best. The surprise was the brussel sprouts, which were not like anything we ever had - delicious. Steak best! Our waiter Gabe (Gabriel?) personable, knowledgeable, friendly, made solid recommendations..couldn't have asked more from him. I usually like trying new places but this is restaurant that needs to be a staple. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyI can honestly say.
. this was the best meal I've ever had top to bottom. The vibe was awesome, the looks of the restaurant inside are as well. Expert bartenders who make amazing cocktails. The bread and appetizers were great. The steaks are to die for. The spinalis is an absolute must! Then dessert... omg the churro bowl was insane. Thanks to our waiter Chandler too. He is incredibly knowledgeable, honest, and hysterical. He made our experience so much better. We weren't sure how much meat to get for a table of 4 and he recommended the perfect amount! Didn't try to oversell us just to get us to spend more money. Cannot wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful.
Fun. Staff knows their stuff. Drinks amazing. Cuts of meat were astounding. Brussels with captain crunch WOW. Potatoes with duck fat were good. Very pricey but a great time and we cleaned our plates.
Be the first to ReplyThe steak and service was terrific.
The restaurant was super crowded and the stop in the meat room is unnecessary. The sides and appetizers were fine, average at best. My husband and sons loved the steak.
Be the first to ReplyFood is good but not great for the price not worth it.
Service is ok at best, very impersonal and expecting of a hefty tip. Ambiance is very beautiful, maybe the best ambiance around.
Be the first to ReplyVery cool venue, with a lot of hype lately.
Most people complain about the ability to obtain a reservation here, otherwise not much else to complain about. You start off with a quick tour in the butcher room where they go over the different kinds of meat and you meet the "butcher ". This is similar to other steak restaurants where they wheel over a cart with all of their steaks table side and explain them. Very large place, and winding through tables scattered everywhere we finally were seated. Wouldn't say there's a bad place to be seated. Noise level, traffic etc all the same. There are two 4tops semi-outside with heaters and a fireplace that are by the entrance and relatively private. That would be a go to table. The menu is basically just for apps and cocktails. They don't really tell you prices or sizes of any of the steaks aside from the initial tour where they say each steak is "about 2 thick", and the wagyu is $100/lb. There is still no comparison to decide cost of each cut, vs wagyu vs dry aged, or different sizes of each cut. So just expect an absurd amount on your bill at some point. All the apps and drinks are relatively priced. $20 per cocktail. And apps ranged $14-38. The wagyu NY strip was cooked a perfect medium rare. Had no idea of the weight. Was a standard cut and was $244, which I expected to be expensive, just didn't have a real idea of any prices of their selection. Cocktails were well made, arrived to the table promptly. Eventually switched over to regular spirits. Churro dessert with tres leches ice cream was bomb. Easily shareable for a table of 4. Scallops were apparently very good, and the squid ink pasta in fra diavolo was a huge hit. The best part of the night was really the wait staff and the ambiance. Every worker we saw or talked to with was very very nice. Regular people, not stuck up or pretentious. Not trying to make it a white table cloth snobby NYC steak house. Which was appreciated. There is valet parking, otherwise you can street park in the residential area and walk a block over. You can also order their steaks to go, uncooked. Not sure I would do that, since the whole process of initially cooking over an open wood fire is the signature of the restaurant.

Our dining experience definitely lived up to all the anticipated hype. Can't wait to go back and indulge in additional menu selections We're booked for May!

Just had the most Amazing experience today! Everything was beyond perfect. Our server went above and beyond with recommendations on drinks for my friend who doesn't typically drink craft cocktails. He also brought samples of wine to help us pick the perfect pairing for our Snake River Farms wagyu steak. For anyone reading negative comments about the meat being just okay they clearly do not know quality steaks. Jump on snake river farms website and see for yourself what you're getting. They cooked it perfectly medium rare with a good crust and not too much char as I've found at other restaurants. The sausage app was worth going back for alone, spicy and delicious. I had the bourbon cocktail with blackberry which was perfectly balanced. The manager came over and spend at least 15 mins talking about Bourbon, Snake river farms, wine & the story of how the restaurant started. We were there a good 2 1/2 hours and did not feel rushed or like we were a bother tasting the wines or my friends deciding on a cocktail. They joked with us and made us feel at home. The atmosphere is very romantic yet edgy. It doesn't just fit a romantic dinner or business meeting vibe it kinda fits every occasion & Group! We can't wait to go back & appreciate not just the meal but the entire experience we had. Thank you so very much!!
Be the first to ReplyService staff (Brett and Gabe) were awesome.
While talking with Tom, he noticed that our sides hadn't arrived when our steak did. We didn't really mind, but then he personally brought them out, which was nice of him. Also, we thought that we had a 5:30 reservation but it was actually for 5 pm. When we showed up at 5:30 and realized we were late, Margaret was extremely polite and accommodating about it. We've had nothing but great experiences here. Thanks again!
