Bywater is suppose to be a Michelin star restaurant !! But the service was bad the server got the order wrong a few times with me and other customers. Took for ever to get the check !! Although the gumbo was awesome , the Po' boy average any one could serve that nothing much to it . Overall an average experience. I think they need to rethink the Michelin rating !!

Very relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff willing to accommodate your special requests.

We met up with some friends who also wanted to try The Bywater in Los Gatos. We went off hours, and we were seated immediately. The staff was friendly, hospitable, and made some recommendations. I can only imagine the look and the feel of the place would be something you would see in New Orleans. We wanted to sample a few things as we had eaten lunch beforehand. Raw Oysters: cocktail sauce, mignonette. Their choice of oysters, which were briny and fresh. Seafood Gumbo File: Crab, oyster, crawfish, & shrimp. (3.5/5). I liked the dish, but it didn't wow me. Rich Man's Red Beans 'N Rice (3/5). It was ok. Creole Spiced Fries (3/5) - it came with house-made ketchup, which was tomato-ey, tasty, and slightly tart. Fries were thick cut. They had special tacos that we tried as well.

Been visiting this restaurant for many years and now I am finally leaving a review about this establishment. All I have to say is that the Bywater in Los Gatos has excellent food and great service! If you ever in the beautiful town of Los Gatos, California, give this place a try and you will not be disappointed.

The bywater was kind of a bummer for me since the menu was not as robust as I thought it would be. The food is good but not mind blowing. We got a bunch of happy hour food including fries, gumbo, rice & beans, and pulled pork tacos. All of it was good but I wanted more from it. I think I just had higher expectations for the bywater. The fries were nice crispy well seasoned. The rice and beans were okay. The gumbo was fantastic with great flavor and had a good amount of seafood swimming in there. There was also a nice giant juicy oyster chillin. The tacos were great as well. The menu itself had a few apps and entrees and otherwise were just poboys. Not a bad place to check out.

I had no idea this gem of a brunch spot was in Los Gatos! It's Michelin recommended so I was super excited to try and it out and it definitely matched my expectations. The star of the show is the beignets. Sooo fluffy, light, and crispy and tasted amazing with the chocolate sauce. It had the perfect level of sweetness as well and was such a good way to end the meal. We also loved their chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. The Bloody Mary was also super flavorful and the perfect level of spice. The Irish channel coffee was like a warm espresso martini and a great pick me up. I can't wait to come back and try their bbq items as well. Has to be one of my new favorite brunch spots in the South Bay!
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I went here for Sunday brunch.
We were there around noon, I had made a reservation online about 40 minutes before, but it wasn't necessary because we could've walked in. It was about half full and more people came while we were eating. Plenty of street parking nearby. They have indoor dining bar, dining covered outdoor dining and open air dining that has umbrellas as well. We sat outside because it was a nice sunny winter day. I had the brunch punch cocktail, and my boyfriend had the Manhattan. Both were excellent!! The food was really good and filling, we really enjoyed our experience and spoke several times of how we'd be back
Be the first to ReplyEasily the best food we've had in quite some time.
The service was a perfect match to the entire meal. Friendly and knowledgeable! We started with the shrimp cocktail, the sauce will knock your socks off, but in a good way! Everything we ate hit the mark and we'll be back for brunch. The fried chicken was crispy and not greasy, the gumbo and red beans and rice were uber flavorful, the tender brisket had a bark like you'd find in the South and the citrus winter salad with black garlic and lardon was the perfect compliment to the richness of the rest of the meal. Can't wait to sit outside on a warmer day!

I had to cancel my New Orleans trip this year due to weather conditions. But hey, I think I found a new favorite restaurant. On that note, I've been reflecting and thinking that the moment you think you have something in the bag is actually probably when you don't have it in the bag. I am being constantly humbled and brought back down to earth. But due to how the stars are aligned, you end up where you need to be when you need to be. And on a less dramatic note, that's probably how I ended up at The Bywater. LOL. But I seriously loved everything about this place. From the food to the service and ambiance, everything was 5 stars. I got the Nashville Chicken Po Boy lunch special. They were generous with the plump, tender, and perfectly fried chicken pieces. The chicken seasoning was salty and spicy on an equal level (balancing it out in a weird but "that makes sense" way). The bread was perfectly soft on the inside and chewy. The coleslaw inside the Po Boy provided the perfect neutralizing, creamy balance. As suggested by one of the employees, I drizzled their house Watermelon sauce on the chicken...omfg...just do it. And the fries on the side were perfection as well. Service was great. The interior pulls you into New Orleans (at least...what I have seen from pictures...I will see you one day NOLA!)

What a great place! I enjoyed the ambiance, and the food was just delicious. I ate inside for my first visit, but I checked out the back patio, and would feel comfortable bringing my dog here. Can't wait to try the Sunday brunch!
Be the first to ReplyMy bestie moved to California from Nola & we truly wanted
My bestie moved to California from Nola & we truly wanted to try this restaurant. It's super cute inside! Yet we were treated like third class citizens. As we waited to be seated I sat my card on the bar to order drinks for the 5 of us that went. My card was blatantly thrown on the floor & we were never seated. Apparently we were too dark in skin color for this place!! I'll never return here! I truly wanted to knock everything off the bar & shout some words yet I'll not lower myself to racist individuals as such the bartender there! He had a baseball cap on backwards. POS Zero stars from me! Mind you I've not taken my time to Yelp many restaurants yet this place needs to be exposed! One star because Yelp forced me!

Be the first to ReplySurprised by many mediocre reviews, we still decided to try
Surprised by many mediocre reviews, we still decided to try the place out based on the food that was offered. We had brisket and several sides. Everything was quite good with good quality ingredients. The beignets were not what I expected however, they were thicker and heavier than what I had experienced previously. The fries were very good, as well as the macaroni salad and coleslaw. our server told us he was new, but nevertheless, he was excellent.I will definitely return because the bar has some of the rarest bourbons around. I didn't have any as it was too early in the day for me. Definitely a place to return to.

Transport yourself to NOLA! This fun spot has fun dรฉcor and Creole/Cajun plates that'll make you feel like you're in New Orleans...for a meal anyway! There was no time at opening on a Saturday morning. We got some fresh Oysters from New Brunswick, Hush Puppies, a Fried Green Tomato Po Boy, and the Rich Man's Rice and Beans. The Hush Puppies were my favorite! They came fresh out of the fryer, so they were piping hot! I was so impressed with how light and airy they were! Plus, the aioli they came with was yummy too! Highly recommend getting these! The Fried Green Tomato Po Boy was interesting. The tomato changed in flavor with each bite, sometimes sweet, sometimes more mild tasting. While it was good to try once, I think I'd opt for a seafood po boy next time instead. Rich Man's Rice and Beans were tasty, but the name speaks for itself--rice and beans with some bits of meat for a pretty penny. Go for the hush puppies!
Be the first to ReplyFor Valentine's Day, we made a reservation a month in
For Valentine's Day, we made a reservation a month in advance. We were contacted by Maryann Florentino at the end of January. She was courteous and made sure we were okay with their prefix menu as in order for them to hold our reservation we were going to get charged $75/person with tax. We were okay and paid and were so excited to celebrate our Valentine's Day there. Never during our e-mail communication or telephone call anything about dining outdoors were mentioned. We walk in and check in with the host, and he tells us that we will be seated on the patio (which was pretty much a ramp out from the back door). I was shocked! It was 35 degrees and cold and we were nicely dressed up with clothing appropriate for indoors! The host said that was our only option as they were fully booked that night. When I reminded him about the fact that my reservation was made one month in advance and never for patio dining on a cold evening he shrugged his shoulders and said he was sorry. He did refund me the money I had paid. However our evening was ruined as we could not find any opening for dinner anywhere else at that point.Even if they had called me ahead of time to tell me I was going to be sitting outside, maybe we would dress accordingly and take a blanket to put over our legs and still go. But we were never given the option. I wrote to Maryann the next day to mention how unhappy I was with their service. She wrote back and apologized and said their general manager Jorge Marquez was going to contact me and offer $100 gift card so that we would give them another chance. Well three weeks later, I am still waiting to hear back from Jorge! If you want to go to the Bywater thinking you will get David Kinch Michelin Star quality service and food like we did, do not go. You get better service from other restaurants in downtown Los Gatos. Don't waste your time and money here. All they have is the reputation of David Kinch. However, they will very soon lose that to.

Brisket and pork shoulder tasted good but really upset our stomachs hours later. Way over priced if you are having food quality issues
Be the first to ReplyThis is a great Cajun-Creole restaurant located in this
This is a great Cajun-Creole restaurant located in this charming town of Los Gatos. They have a fantastic bar that has lots to offer from Whistle Pig, Weller, to even Pappy. There isn't lots of seating and everything is pretty much tight spaces but a seat at the bar will do. I started with an oyster shooter which woke me up instantly with it's vodka and tomato juice taste. The addition of a saltine cracker topped with a slice of okra was nice. I then had their seafood gumbo filรฉ cup which was tasty but way too salty for me. I wish they could've added more seafood but nonetheless it was decent and a cup goes a long way. Their popular fried oyster po boy sandwich was pretty good. I thought they could've added some type of spread at least like Mayo or aioli to keep the sandwich more flavorful. I actually needed crystal hot sauce with every bite to add some flavor otherwise, this po boy could be a bit bland. I ate their spiced fries along with my meal but even these fries were a bit too salty and too seasoned I feel? Maybe it's just me but the seasoning on their foods is a bit much. I'm a huge fan of their beignets; these were fresh and crisp with layers of goodness. These beignets are better than the ones I've had in New Orleans and also around the Bay. I highly recommend ordering these! I wrapped up my night with a 12-yr Pappy Van Winkle 1-oz pour. This restaurant is a good one! I'd love to come back again to try some cocktails and other dishes.

The chicken and waffles were savory and delicious, and low key the moderate portion saved me from the calorie guilt! I love that they use dark meat for the tenders. Chill cute atmosphere and excellent service
Be the first to ReplyMardi Gras food was coming out slow and non authentic.
I thought a Michelin star chef was the owner of the place but seems like they weren't really ready for a the real NoLa people this time. I'm sure it was good when it first opened. Don't come over, not worth the time or money
Be the first to ReplyReally fresh oysters and delicious fried chicken and po-boy
Really fresh oysters and delicious fried chicken and po-boy sammie. The fried oysters were just okay; could have done just a fried shrimp po boy instead. But really good and simple. They made this watermelon vodka drink that was divine. I'd like to come back on a Sunday when they have more to choose from. Their regular menu is pretty limited.
Be the first to ReplyMy hubby and I went here for the first time.

Be the first to ReplyDefinitely one of my favorite spots in Los gatos.
Cocktails are great, perfect Nola food, honestly not a disappointing thing on the menu. I recommend going to happy hour here. Wonderful staff as well!

Food was ok, fries had no salt and way too much celery in the seasoning, andouille wrapped in phyllo dough was greasy dough was not cooked all the way, Shrimp Poo boy shrimp cook perfect again to heavy handed on the celery seasoning, best thing I had was the red beans and rice, could of left if the plain white rice added on top with no seasoning, service was good. Wouldn't go back.
Be the first to ReplyWe went on a Saturday night.
The tables inside were full; reservation recommended. The tables outside had room though and we were sat right away. The heat lamps were warm enough! We went for drinks and snacks (no main dishes). Cocktails were fun and strong, lots to choose from. We got the voodoo slushy- would highly recommend. Comes in a small plastic cup but packs a punch. The locals only was fruity but not too sweet, the Pimm's cup was refreshing and delicious! The fries were zesty with a little spice and perfectly crispy. The beignets were phenomenal. Highly recommend. Our server Shandra was excellent and so helpful! She gave great menu recommendations and we can't wait to go back and try the food (and have her help us again!).
