Not a lot to criticize but better options nearby
The food was good, and service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was nice and well-appointed. It’s located in the AT&T Conference Center & Hotel. While it was relatively enjoyable, there are just too many other better options in the area at the same price point.
Be the first to Replyevery friday this semester
I'm a professor at UT and every Friday I have been going with my colleagues for lunch. The food is between average and pretty bad on Fridays. Every Friday the main course is (overcooked) fish and roast chicken that has at least 25% of the chicken smelly and old and frozen. A 4-star hotel cannot and should not make anything but very fresh food. Whoever is doing the sourcing should be "questioned" (ok being a business professor that person should not be "refunctioned"). The chef on Friday is wanting, in my opinion. Sorry for this but it wasn't a single experience. It continued (and got worse) over the semester. Please get it together!

The Carrillon is open for amazing breakfasts! We appreciated the top professional service. Every bite was delectable of the scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, fingerling potatoes, and toasted bagel with cream cheese. The buffet breakfast is also a real treat.
The continued serving of hot and freshly made Ethiopian coffee was what I had been dreaming of. Restaurant manager Ross Rhoades keeps a close eye on clients to assure excellent service and Chef Maki delivers on exceptionally delicious offerings.
They are open for breakfast again!
The Carrillon Restaurant is stupendous. They just do whatever they can to provide the best ingredients in the most delicious way possible. Their new chef is from NYC and loves to delight with tasty food that is visually appealing as well.
I cannot wait until they open up for lunch and dinner!
Fabulous presentation and flavor
My friend and I enjoyed their “Table d’hôte.” I had a kale salad, a chick pea entrée, and pecan pie with whipped cream and totally delicious sauce. My friend enjoyed a fingerling potato salad, beef entrée, and chocolate brownie dessert.
David Bacon Bennett provided detailed excellent service and we enjoyed our lunch outside in an exterior patio.
Reservations are necessary. It is worth the trip for flavorful meals and beautiful presentation.
This place rings a bunch of cost bells
This is a go-to place for people at UT because there aren't a lot of convenient options. The food is okay, the service usually okay (and definitely getting better), but wow is it expensive. We had four people at breakfast and the tab was $90! No alcohol and one person only had oatmeal. Near as I can tell, everyone in the restaurant has a UT affiliation or is on some kind of expense account.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant, Hidden Gem, Inside Hotel Conference Center
The Carrillon is “hidden” inside the ATT Conference Center adjacent to the University of Texas. I was in a group of conferees waiting for a Lyft to go to a downtown restaurant. The Lyft never came so we decided to stay at the hotel and dine at the Carrillon. Wow, what a good idea we had!
The Carrillon is quite beautiful, lighted tastefully and comfortably appointed. We were immediately seated and almost as soon handed a wine menu and food menu. We had four people on our wait staff and they were all spectacular. As we sat down the conversation began. Lots of people who don’t see each other but once a year taking advantage of the occasion! Our wait staff were very accommodating even though it took four visits for us to finally begin to order wine and food.
First the wine: We were conflicted about whether to order a sweet or dry wine so they brought both so that we could have a tasting. We chose the dry and it was excellent!
Then came the food: We asked for recommendations and received really good ones: We began with starters: First was their “Hamachi Sushi”, which consisted of tuna with avocado, grapefruit brûlée, candied bacon crumbs and sea beans - delicious! We also ordered what is simply titled “Local Asparagus.” This dish included whole asparagus, shaved asparagus, chorizo, fried egg foam (really delicious) and asparagus. My main dish was the pan seared scallops. The scallops were perfectly seared and accompanied with numerous roasted vegetables, and a smear of what seemed to be carrot. We almost ordered desert but we received a complimentary desert drink from the bar which quenched both our sweet tooth and our desire for any more alcohol
The Carrillon was a great experience in all ways. Great service, food, and drink!
Just a wonderful first experience! Thanks to the chef and staff.
I ate here awhile back and was sure I'd left a review (I didn't!!!). I am so sorry it has taken me this long. I had no idea there was such a gem of a restaurant within striking distance, and wanted to give them a huge thumbs up from a very satisfied customer.
The atmosphere was nice and quiet, and we were seated by a friendly hostess followed with service by a terrific waiter!
I am pescatarian, and ordered the fish which was done to perfection. The first course of salad and last course of a luscious dark chocolate brownie warm and served with homemade whipped cream was just the thing to finish off the evening.
I enjoyed the meal so much that I applauded the kitchen staff on my way out! It is so very seldom you find food that shows this much love. Kudos. Just kudos.
5-star customer service
I wholly affirm all the positive reviews for The Carillon. And I'll add that my husband and I were particularly impressed with the 5-star customer service. We often comment that customer service is a lost cause in America, but the staff here had us believing again! Thanks for all the ways you made our 10-year anniversary dinner so special...especially for a couple of USC Trojans fans :)

We had appetizers, starters, entrées, and desserts. We were provided Italian sparkling rosé before we began to start our celebration. We selected a cheese board and crab rillette to begin and then had salads or other items as starters. I had a wonderful scallop entrée which included a calcified heirloom carrot. I enjoyed it. My husband enjoyed a grilled red snapper.
My husband liked his Lemon, Lemon, Lemon dessert and our friend enjoyed her selection. It was a fun evening.
Worst experience ever
Everything about this restaurant was terrible. This restuarant totally ruined our valentine's day with awful and disgusting food. We were forced to get the three course meals because that was the only options they offered. However, the appetizers, main courses and desserts were nasty and over priced. A new york strip steak was too tough and it was completely covered with coffee grinds and big leaves. The sea bass was very fishy and did not taste good at all. Also the sea bass was completely covered by variety of vegetables that looked pathetic and burnt. We could not finish any of these dishes. It just seems like they were playing with foods. The dessert was the highlight of the three course meal because the cake was stiff, stale and the worst dessert i've ever had in my life. I felt like they hire anyone to be their waiters and waitresses. We certainly did not get the service that we deserved for $80 per person for 3 course meal. The foods were, again, absolutely disgusting, and we could not even eat half of the foods. Even though they gave us poor quality of meals and average service, they charged us mandatory 20% tip so we nearly paid over $100 per person. Their three course meal is extremely over priced and didn't worth every penny that they charged for. I would've had a way better quality food with this much money anywhere else. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any people unless they are my worst enemies.
Be the first to ReplyA Disappointing Meal
Six of us went to the Carillon for dinner last night, and all of us were disappointed. Although most of us had been there in the past with very positive memories, last night was a poor showing on the restaurant's part. None of our dinners came with the excellence we had remembered. Someone suggested that maybe the restaurant had a new chef and that accounted for the change. My fish was mushy. I had the feeling that it had been cooked, but held for awhile while the other dishes for our table were readied. The scallops, which were fresh, were cooked in an unappealing sauce. Each of my dinner partners talked about how the combination of flavors of their dishes just didn't work. Service was slow but pleasant. Perhaps the slowness was due to the kitchen being very busy with a banquet in a private dining room nearby. I won't go back soon.
