Culinary Triumph at The Clove Club for a Milestone Birthday
As I celebrated my 60th birthday at The Clove Club in London, I found myself enveloped in an atmosphere of understated elegance, where the service was as refined as the dishes served. Nestled in the historic Shoreditch Town Hall, this restaurant has rightfully earned its place among the city's gastronomic elite with its innovative approach to British cuisine. The evening began with an amuse-bouche that set a playful yet sophisticated tone: The wine pairing, a suggestion from our knowledgeable sommelier, complemented and perfectly balanced the richness of each course. As I reflect on my 60th birthday at The Clove Club, it was not just a meal but a memorable gastronomic journey. The chefs' mastery in fusing traditional ingredients with modern techniques was evident in every bite, and the attentive, yet unobtrusive service made the evening all the more special. This experience wasn’t just about celebrating a milestone in years but was a toast to the art of fine dining itself. The Clove Club didn’t just host my birthday; it enriched it with flavors and memories that linger! A true gem in London’s culinary crown!
Mind-Blowing Cooking and Service
Fantastic, exquisite cooking from Chef Isaac and team. Truly amazing! This was my second visit and it was even better than the first time. Now I have to go back again. What these guys are doing is incredible. Also, the service is impeccable. Special mention to our server, Michelle, as well as our sommelier Zach. And everything runs smoothly under the watchful eye of Paolo.
Bottom line first: justified rating as one of the top 50
Bottom line first: justified rating as one of the top 50 restaurants of the world--incredible staff, friendly team, and dishes that we will think about for days to come. One of the best meals ever This was our first big stop in London, after mixed experiences among 3 Michelin-rated places in Paris. Given its reputation as one of the best restaurants in the world, we had very high expectations coming in. The setting was interesting, in a small but clearly refined space. In the main dining room, there were only a handful of tables, accommodating no greater than 25 people or so. Despite this, there was no formal dress code, as one table had a guy in a T-shirt and jeans, although most were dressed more properly with at least a sweater. The kitchen was entirely open and one with the dining room, and it was awesome seeing various parts of the team interacting pretty seamlessly with each other. The service was outstanding, and we had at least a small interaction with just about every single member of the staff through the evening. All were very respectful and knowledgeable regarding the dishes. Although just about every dish was excellent, either in taste and/or in presentation, the one that really was outstanding was the trout, which was the first main dish. The maître d' verified that it was the dish that most people kept thinking about afterwards. The use of ingredients were incredible; as examples, how would one expect that: -potatoes belong on the bottom of an ice cream dessert? -jalapeño-laced ice would go well with a sorbet? -almond pieces would complement a fish so well? The best part for us was that Chef McHale and his team were open to take a small amount of time during the busy service to take a picture with us before we exited. They were generous enough to hear us compliment the team on a wonderful evening, besting the experiences we had at other higher end places such as the French Laundry. This was clearly one of the best meals we've ever had. As silly as this may sound, the €195 price tag is a bargain and an astronomical value. Although we won't be back anytime soon, if nothing else due to our being located abroad, we will certainly be looking forward to the next time we have an opportunity to enjoy another dinner here.
Great vegetarian tasting menu options
Really enjoyed a lunch tasting menu with our friends here. They had really good vegetarian options for one of our party. The atmosphere of the place is relaxed and it’s fun to see the chefs preparing the food nearby.
Must visit!
5/5 what an experience this was. The entire journey of this culinary course was insane. The staff were amazing. Zack in particular who was hilarious and extremely knowledgeable about the wines paired with each dish. The food was absolutely amazing and I’ve been to a lot of tasting menu restaurants and I’m officially putting this at the top
Hugely disappointing
I was not sure if to write this review as I don’t like putting places down unless they are really disappointing, and it is somewhat late, however having compared this to many other Michelin star restaurants/ those of a similar level, I did want to write this review as I was just so disappointed, both at the time and in hindsight. Overall I was hugely disappointed with this restaurant. The food was good, but nowhere near 2* level, not a patch on starred restaurants like Story, Frog, Sabor, A Wong or Evelyn’s Table or even those that are just below that level such as Angelina, Ikoyi (at the time I went) or Perilla. I think back to all these restaurants and can remember something memorable that’ll stick with me for years, yet at Clove it’s nothing, just average upon average. I also think the service was very strange. Yes they folded your napkin when you went to the bathroom, and topped up your water, but it was totally lacklustre - no energy, little excitement - and the guy serving us (think it was a bald middle-aged guy) had a strange demeanour - friendly but distant. The space was also unwelcoming. We went into the bar and loved it, but then we were seated on a strangely bare table in an enclave in the corner. It was cold and unwelcoming. I think the biggest kicker was the price. All the restaurants mentioned above were cheaper than this, yet this was the worse quality. I was really so disappointed as the bill was over £600. In conclusion, I was so excited to come here and I really wanted to love it - it had been on my list for years. I kept telling my partner it would get better, but it never did. I just cannot recommend Clove Club and cannot fathom how it is in all of these top restaurant lists. Please save your money and go to one of the places I have mentioned above.
FANTASTIC! Don’t miss!
Truly remarkable restaurant, from start to finish. Each course was fantastic — I couldn’t decide what I liked best — and appropriately small to allow for so many fantastic tastes. Dinner wasn’t rushed, but was also wonderfully paced, and the wine suggestion was spot on. My friend said it was the best meal she had ever had!
One of the best meals I've ever eaten
This was truly one of the most memorable and delicious meals I've ever eaten. Every course was not only beautifully presented, but so unique in flavor profile and ingredients and just so yummy! The service was attentive and caring without being overbearing. The wine selections were perfect! We dined for more four hours! i cannot recommend Clove enough! It's worth the money.
5 out of 5 stars.
100%. A+. I will forever sing praises of my experience here. The restaurant is not pretentious at all. It's so minimalistic and is the epitome of quiet luxury. You might actually walk right past it because it's so understated. As soon as you walk through the door, however, you are treated like a celebrity. You are ushered into a small room with a direct view of the open kitchen. You see the chef, the sous chef and the staff hustling quietly and in an organized fashion. We were seated at the front table and were maybe 3 meters away from the prep station. It was such an intimate dining experience. The staff were extremely professional. There were more staff than clients to make sure the diners had the best experience. The food was stellar, both in taste and presentation. The lobster and the pork were my standout favorites of the tasting menu, but to be honest, everything was delicious. It's also not just what's on the tasting menu because the kitchen staff add a few extra little bites in between the courses. Truly, it was such a special, unique experience and definitely worth it for a special occasion.
Wonderful Evening at the Clove Club!
Sept 27th, 2023 seating. Our experience at the Clove Club was outstanding. The exceptional and friendly service combined with the culinary artistry and wine pairing validated its inclusion on the "Top 50 List". 100%. I am not a vegetarian, but the Vegetarian Tasting Menu looked amazing, so I ordered it. It exceeded expectations. The courses presented layered and subtle flavors balanced with offerings that were complex and fresh and beautifully composed. From the Green Herb Broth to the Wild Mushroom with pomme puree and Habañero Granita–every course was absolutely tops. My husband ordered the non-vegetarian menu and was very happy, as well. The wine pairing was spot on and delicious (poured with just the right amount of information– you know what I mean if you have ever had a sommelier who was more interested in showcasing their knowledge than the guest experience :-|.) All in all, a perfect dining experience. Must mention: The Clove Club staff is the ultimate–welcoming and professional, not overbearing or stuffy, and able and willing to answer any and every question regarding the courses or wine. To fully enjoy, allow yourself plenty of time to be relaxed for the evening. I highly recommend the Clove Club for anyone who appreciates unique, artistic dining experiences that still feel like you are eating beautiful but real food! (and not simply precious arrangements...) Well worth the time and expense, even if it is a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Amazing
Amazing place, this was our second meal there and it is absolutely flawless. Wine parings were some of the most impressive pairings I have ever had.
An unexpected billing ordeal
An unexpected billing ordeal and subsequent interactions with the management tarnished the Clove Club's culinary delights. The lack of transparent communication regarding potential additional costs and an unwillingness from the owner to address our concerns respectfully has greatly impacted our perspective on what was supposed to be a distinguished Michelin-starred experience.
An explosion of flavors
It was an amazing food experience!! The scallop dish was amazing! In general, all the dishes were an explosion of flavors!!The wines also excellent!!
My wife and I were blown away by the Clove Club.
We were visiting London for the first time and wanted to go all out for one meal. We did some research and found a few possible destinations, but we settled on Clove Club since it had great reviews and sources most of the ingredients from in and around the British Isles. Specific highlights of the meal were the smoked trout with almonds and caviar and also the aged pork with artichoke and potatoes but each dish was more delicious than the last, I can't say we had anything that wasn't A or A+ out of about 10-15 courses. The service was exceptional too, they were constantly checking in when needed without feeling overbearing and each member of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable regarding all of the dishes. There's nothing bad I can say about the meal. Obviously, this was an expensive meal but we knew and expected that going in and it really felt like a special experience that was worth the price of admission.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Payouts
Anyone know how increase payout transfer to bank as I can only send $50 a day and they charge $5 for every transaction. There must be a way. I’ve contacted support two days ago and not a reply.

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!
