I had such a great time at the French Room! Connie was so amazing and so sweet of a waitress. She was so understanding even with our friends showing up late and doing her best to take care of them. They aren't able to sit or serve once it's 30 minutes past your reservation time. It was beautiful inside with all the detail. The tea and the pastries were delicious. Highly recommend. I'm from MN and traveled to TX for a Birthday and it was so fun.

My husband and I had tea at the French Room in the Adolphus Hotel on Valentine's Day. Everything was beautiful and fancy and we really enjoyed it! The waitstaff was attentive and friendly and knowledgeable.

We were on our way out to dinner, but we decided to stop at our hotels bar called the French room bar.. It's very dark, very mysterious, very sexy, very old world .. It's adjacent to the fancy room restaurant. So gorgeous light and bright and full of windows.. opposite of the bar. (you can just tell that back in the 20s and 30s, men would gather there and smoke their cigars and have their whiskeys) We decided to have one of their specialty cocktails called, save the bees it was gin based, and it was delicious. we decided to take it out to the main lobby where the beautiful fireplaces are we sat. We looked at some of the museum quality books and drank our cocktail.

Be the first to ReplyService is always excellent here.
Went for a weekday tea and the sampling of savory and sweet items was wonderful. I preferred the second tea to the first. Lovely long lunch with no need to rush or over eat.

This place is a dream! The staff was so kind and absolutely created a flawless experience! I'm not super familiar with Dallas area, so I would suggest parking in the parking garage I have provided in photos. "Dalpark Garage" It's a 3 minute walk.

Very elegant, if you end up going, due to your time to look up. if you don't you will miss two absolutely stunning chandlers. High Tea is always a great experience and a great idea for your girlfriends, date and a small get together. The service was immaculate! Very knowledgeable, and very descriptive with the tea and food. This would be in my Top 5 things to do in Dallas. Stunning.

Below is part of the email I first sent the French Room directly. Days later, I have heard no response. I am very disappointed and saddened to leave a poor review. I made reservations for the afternoon tea on 12/17/22 for 3/11/22 at 2:30. I received and responded to a reservation text on Thursday, 3/9/23 confirming that we would be there. On the day of, we made arrangements to not only drive to Dallas, but to look our best, only to get a call at 1:50 that there was an event that evening and our reservation was canceled. To say we were disappointed doesn't begin to explain how we felt. When my husband expressed his disappointment, the person calling us started to get snippy by saying this was not the first time we had been called. However, there was no contact with me other than confirming the date and time earlier in the week. I think what bothers me the most is that an event such as the one you all had Saturday was not planned moments before and therefore, there was plenty of time as well as multiple ways to contact us about the cancellation prior to the day of.

This is my second high tea experience in Dallas but on a more elevated scale. I went back in January for my birthday and luckily was able to still enjoy their Lunar New Year menu! I made reservations pretty early through Resy, I think they usually open a couple months in advance. I recommend booking the earlier times as people and high tea typically run over time so you end up waiting even if you have reservations. What I noticed since when we left, there were a lot of parties outside waiting. The French Room is located in the Adolphus on the second floor, just walk up the stairs to the right. A very nice lobby itself. The French Room was stunning as well. The service was amazing. Tea service was $65 per person. To start off you get a sparkling drink/champagne followed by 3 different savory options paired with their choice of tea. You may think this surly won't fill me up, then they bring out the dessert platters. This was what sent us over the top. By the end of it, I took a bit of each item, all delicious and made so perfectly. You could also take them home as well. We asked for a picture from our server and she handed it off to another staff member who went over the top for the best photo opportunity. I can't wait to come back here as the menu changes depending on the season.

This place was amazing! I come to visit my parents from South Carolina when I get a break from college! My mother suggested this and was it worth it? Absolutely! If you have been debating on doing this just do it! If your a lover of tea time, cucumber sandwiches, and enjoy history this is your place! Service was just astonishing and it's very pretty and relaxing!
Be the first to ReplyI brought a friend here for her birthday.
I'll start by saying, the hotel & actual tea time room is stunning. It's nicely done, classy, and perfect! Unfortunately, beyond that I wasn't too impressed. We were seated about 15 minutes into our reservation. About 45 minutes after we were seated (1 hour into the res), a lady came by and suggested we hurry up and eat because we would get kicked off the table in 30 mins. When I made the reservation, there was NO mention of a time limit. That being said, for $85 a person, we shouldn't feel rushed - quite literally they asked us to hurry and finish. The food itself was okay, we enjoyed some of the items, nothing to dream about. The savory items were better than the sweet items in my opinion. I probably wouldn't go back or recommend The French Room for tea time. Unfortunate
Be the first to ReplyBad service, bad food, weak tea, and overcharges.
A friend and I decided to go to the French Room for afternoon tea on Sunday. None of the food, including the pastries was fresh. The first pot of tea had not flavor, so we asked for another pot. Again, the tea was flavorless, like stained water. The waiter got surely when we told him the second pot was not satisfactory. He brought another pot and told us if we didn't like this pot of tea, then we needed to see a doctor. Again, the tea was flavorless. For some background, I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, where green and jasmine tea is grown on the mountainside. The tea was brewed from tea bags, not tea leaves. I assumed that since the French Room had a reputation for being a good restaurant, and given the cost for Sunday tea, they would serve quality tea. What was supposed to be a special occasion shared between two friends ended being an unpleasant experience. I will never return.

Attended a baby shower here which was beautiful! The hostess brought her own florist for flowers and we got a big table to the side of the restaurant to enjoy tea time semi-privately. The teas were delicious. Some of the small sandwiches were classic (egg, etc.) but we also enjoyed w few bites with a more modern take.

If you are looking for a unique dining experience in Dallas, this is the place. Set in the hotel Adolphus, The French room is a beautifully decorated dining room that takes you back to the old world. The decore is regal, The service is Superbly orchestrated to give the best timed dining experience. We had a tasting menu Paired with the prime wine selections. Seven courses, excellently portioned and paired. With every course a great description of the ingredients and even some of the history behind the wine from the sommelier This is truly unique dining experience!

They made it very special for us. Fantastic service. Tea was spectacular and food was fun to try. Great for special events. The whole hotel is beautiful.

I have always wanted to have tea here and my husband took me for my bir thday. Such a beautiful room! The service was excellent and didn't skip a beat. We happened todine during their Lunar New Year celebration and the tea had a very Asian flair. I would love to come back again and also try a traditional service. Not inexpensive, but very worth it for a fun experience.

The environment was absolutely gorgeous! I like all the serve wares they provided. Start with apple cider or champagne, the champagne was fine. The first course of tea was light, coming with savory bites. From top to bottom, finger sandwich with cucumber and ricotta cheese was just so so. The egg salad in brioche bun tasted too eggy, not very fresh. The salmon puff was not very good imo. The only thing I like was mushroom quiche. The sweets came with stronger English black tea, tasted like Pu Er. The lavender scone was pretty good. Other than that, the rest was just fine... The environment and the service worth the price but not food tbh.

I was extremely hyped to go to The French Room and was heavily disappointed. I made reservations three weeks in advance to have high tea with a group of my bestest friends. In the reservation, I stated that my bestie could not have caffeinated tea or chocolate and requested alternate options for her. Upon arrival, we were not even greeted. I had to catch one of the two girls' attention at the reception desk. We were then seated and promptly catered to, which was the only good thing about our experience. Our waiter was the best and worth five stars. He quickly served us a glass of rosรฉ champagne. Brought out the first portion of high tea, which included four types of sandwiches/tarts. Explained what was in each as he plated the first sandwich. Then we were served our first tea, to which we had to remind the server of my bestie's caffeine restriction. They hastily apologized and went back to make her a tea substitute, which by the time it came out, the rest of our teas were cold. Next the pastries/dessert tray came out. Again, our waiter explained the items and recommended which one we should try first. Also, again, we had to remind them of my bestie's chocolate restriction. They ended up substituting the chocolate dessert with a macaron. We were served our second tea with some sugar cubes and milk, but my bestie only had her one tea option.Overall, I was disappointed. For a tea room, I expected to have more than one to two tea options. The sandwiches were not that tasteful. I enjoyed two of the four. The pastries/desserts were terrible. I did not enjoy any of them. After spending $85 each (gratuity included in the bill) my girls and I were still hungry.
Be the first to ReplyOverall - Avoid at all costs.
The food is a disgrace to the beautiful atmosphere. What I got - prix fix menu, comes with a savory course and a sweet course served with two teas. Taste - incredibly disappointing, with exception of the tea. The tea was brewed correctly but they served two types of Darjeeling black tea that didn't pair with anything they served. All of the food tasted like it came from a grocery store. The only thing I finished was quiche and the corn muffin. The quiche was not warm, and the crust tasted like it was prepared at like 3am or the previous day. The topping for the corn muffin has a nice flavor but not enough to carry the rather bland muffin. The brioche with egg salad was the worst of the savory dishes. While the egg salad itself was quite tasty, there was only enough to cover the tip of a small fork. The brioche was cold, not soft, and flavorless. The sweet course looked better but tasted worse. The lavender scone had a clear taste of baking powder, and the other scone tasted just like a pop tart, yes a pop tart. At that point I took one bite of the remaining items and left them all, not wanting to be disappointed further.Value - awful, at $65 a person I immediately needed to go out and get a real meal with edible food. Service - fine, no problems but nothing outstanding. At some point we did have to ask a bus boy to get our server to refill our teas.Atmosphere - very quiet and relaxing. There is plenty of space, you have enough privacy for a quite conversation. A wonderful harpist played live music.Facility - beautiful, the room is 110 years old. While the dรฉcor has changed the chandelier and walls were beautiful. Need to know - inside the Adolphus hotel, gratuity is included. Would I come back - No Would I go out of my way - No Additional info - this was an incredibly disappointing experience for my mothers birthday. Our party left more food than we actually ate. For a hotel this nice I expected more, a lot more. It was so bad, I would never come back to try any of the other restaurants or offerings at the hotel. My biggest issue is that this beautiful historic facility is being disgraced with store bought, pre made garbage. Here is the kicker, when we asked about the chef, the waiter told us he wasn't there (on a Sunday afternoon), he comes and goes during the week as he pleases, and he is focused on the bar menu. He needs to focus on this menu before messing up another one!
Be the first to ReplyWe went to try it out for the first time.
Nothing special with the small sandwiches or small pastries. I was expecting quality taste from the small sandwiches and pastries. The teas were good. Our waiter came to our table like 2 to 3 times but mainly the people who take care of you are the tea and the food server, no issues there, they were very attentive. It's mainly the aesthetics for what you are paying for, beautiful place I give it that. Great for some pictures, but for the price I paid, I expect the small sandwiches and pastries to also be delicious and held to the same standards. Definitely room for improvement there.

I took my sweet Pastor here for a birthday high tea at 1pm and we had such a great time. From the moment we went to valet the car, being greeted at the front and escorted to the restaurant we were welcomed and honored. Our servers at the restaurant were compassionate and courteous. They went over the menu as well as the teas that they'd serve us.Now the finger sandwiches they serve aren't lunch or dinner worthy. You go there for tea time so it's like a snack. We do not drink alcohol so they treated us to a glass of sparking cider which was delicious. The tea was always flowing and our cups were constantly refilled. I enjoyed the lavender vanilla scone with earl grey tea. I added milk to my tea but you can drink it plain. I would 100% do this again with women because the experience was lovely!P.s. make a reservation online a week or two in advance; do not walk in you may not get seated.
