Pleasant experience, with a few gripes :)
The first thing that struck me was that check in for afternoon tea was very odd.. As you enter there is a reception desk to the left, they then tell you to continue on to reception. You should be able to be clearly see reception on arrival!. You then stand in a q which is one way in and one way out so people are squeezing past to leave or use the loo's. I believe that the 27th of April was the last day of this set up though as the tea rooms are being relocated due to being refurbished so hopefully this will be rectified. The table was fairly simple but there was a pretty flower in a vase which brightened it up. The amuse-bouche was delicious, followed by the sandwiches and cakes, all fairly tasty. The tea was nice and we were offered more sandwiches etc but it wasn't made clear if it was complimentary in with the overall price, and of course we didn't want to embarrass ourselves by asking. We did ask to take away two of the scones which we were charged a cover charge of £2.00 for on top of the service charge. Is that fair?, you can decide that for yourselves.
Be the first to ReplyA tasty and luxurious Afternoon Tea!
We attended for a 50th birthday celebration and had a great time! The food was plentiful, tasty and could be restocked if needed. Lots of varying tastes and items to suit everyone. One guest also had some preferences to what they eat (notified the team in advance and they had kept a record which was very appreciated) and this was managed extremely well and those items replaced. The tea selection was vast and everything extremely high quality- we would recommend the cold teas which were amazing. We also had cocktails which were generous and with high alcohol contents. Our server was attentive and never rushed us- we ended up spending around 4 hours at the afternoon tea and enjoyed every bit! The booking process was easy and straightforward but would note that the advice provided wasn't always accurate or helpful. Would really recommend this Afternoon Tea to anyone, especially for special occasions!
Be the first to ReplyDon’t bother with this
Found this a very poor experience. Sandwiches were very very dry to the touch could tell they had been sitting around for ages. When I told the server they took them and replaced them with more dry sandwiches. Cakes were not dry but not very nice very sweet. Scones were just ok. First thing server asks us if we would like water to the table said yes ok and this was charged as extra. Obviously would not had bothered just presumed it was part of what we had paid for. Very underwhelmed.

A Great experience and we are glad we went. However I do feel the price per person was very high and not worth it in the end. The service was excellent and our server a pleasure. The food was well prepared and beautifully arranged.

Having Tea at Harrods needs no Introduction. Everything is simply the Finest and the Absolute Best. We enjoying visiting Harrods for Tea each time we visit London. The quality and and the ambiance Wow.
Be the first to ReplyNot the best !
We had an experience gift voucher for our visit I have been to a few different high end afternoon teas and harrods is definitely not the best. I have nothing to complain about , everything was tasty enough and to be fair the scones were amazing, I just don’t feel the price justified the experience! I was also warned on booking of the dress code , my husband wore smart shoes that were killing after walking around London all Day , only to find other diners in white trainers and tracksuits…we could have been comfortable after all !!
Be the first to ReplyAn odd corridor with average food
A strange enough experience and not very Harrods. The chairs were tired with upholstery missing and the whole vibe was a bit upmarket village hall - esque. It seemed to be a corridor for shoppers and the service was ok but not 5 star. Food was again, ok but not as good as expected. Was a gift experience and was then presented with a 12.5% service fee bill to pay which seemed unnecessary. Better options out there for sure.

I have held off writing this review as I had reported an incident of suspected food poisoning which gave me diarrhoea within an hour of leaving and resulted in three episodes in the space of an hour or less together with clamminess and sweating. I looked online how soon symptoms can appear and it stated after 30 minutes. I contacted Harrods the next day explaining what had happened and that the experience had been rushed, food did not appear particularly fresh (fruit was clearly not prepared that day and croissant was dry). I explained that despite being allocated 90 minutes for the booking, we had finished the meal in 25 minutes. We felt it was not the luxury experience we envisaged and that it had been a gift. Harrods wrote back today with a fob of email ie they have carried out investigation and given instruction to staff and hope to welcome me back in store soon. Nothing about the rushed or unpleasant experience. Needless to say I have no intention of rushing back to Harrods for anything. There are far nicer places to have afternoon tea in London for a similar price although this was Breakfast at Tiffany’s but what a disappointment. Don’t waste your money.

My husband and I visited Harrods Tea Rooms as our first experience with afternoon tea while on our first ever trip to London. We were very excited to try it, as we had never had afternoon tea before and had read some excellent reviews about the tea service at Harrods. I do have to say it wasn't exactly what I expected. The tea room itself was beautiful. When we arrived, the chandeliers and the fanciful decor really caught our eye, and I loved the pianist who played throughout our time there. The service was... okay. They were friendly while at the table, but for the most part the staff stayed away, which is a mix of both good and bad. Sometimes we had to wait a while for someone to come by if we needed more tea or anything at all. I'm a huge fan of staff not being constantly present, but I do like to have someone at least around so they can be flagged down if needed. The tea was good, so I definitely can't complain about that. And there was a decent mix of good and bad with the sandwiches and desserts. Good enough that we had enough to eat so we weren't hungry (we stopped here after spending all day out walking without eating anything before) but not so good that we just had to eat it all. Overall, I'd say the experience was average. Better than others tea rooms we tried, but definitely not the best. Would I go here again? Maybe if the better tea rooms were booked solid and I really wanted an afternoon tea. Would I recommend it? Also a maybe, though there are certainly other places I would recommend first. But it wasn't bad. So if you're looking for somewhere just to try an afternoon tea in an easy to get to location with minimal fanfare, I say Harrods Tea Rooms is worth a try.
Be the first to ReplyWouldn’t recommend.
Our visit which was meant to be a real treat for Afternoon Tea was spoiled as it is a thoroughfare for shoppers walking from one department to another. We felt as though we were on show! Extremely uncomfortable and not an enjoyable experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot happy with Harrods cream tea
Went for a special treat of cream tea. When I booked it I saw all the different vouchers for £40 for 2 but I booked it through Harrods tea rooms thinking it was same price as didn’t see anything on there to say otherwise. Was shocked when I received bill and was for £80 . I asked to speak to manager who told me it’s £40 with a voucher or £80 booked through them. I could not understand why they did not mention it was £80 . Was very badly advertised . Will not go back again
Be the first to ReplyIf attitude is your priority, this place is awful in that
Starring with the receptionist, I can’t describe the rudeness and unprofessionalism that can be met in a leisure place. First thing when we approach the lady, and even before welcoming us was to show us the menu and pointed to the price.. It’s understandable action if the person doesn’t know and ask by him/herself about the price .. To add up, the moment we confirm that we know and we don’t have problem, she listed so many solutions to try different cafe for us. She offered the close by cafe as different option, then she asked if we want to try Tiffany cafe and seriously 😳 her reasoning was tiffany offer same food but there is variety of options for the pregnant one.. I won’t be able to describe the lengthen options she kept saying in order not to get in there .. When we get in, we asked for a table but she said “we operate half the place only” But the moment we sat, that same table was served for different customer.. I would have give zero star for this place in the ranking for such attitude.. After we were seated, the waitress was nice.. He was friendly and did his job as required.. Food was really delicious, we tried “ Spring festival menu”

What an overall inferior experience we had at the afternoon tea rooms in Harrods. It didn’t start great as at the afternoon tea reception the hostess came across a rather rude, arrogant with no manners to greet guests and was miserable throughout. We got there for our anniversary celebration and was a little earlier than our booked time and she came across so rude saying “Come back at your booked time” despite of having 6-8 empty tables there, never before have we experienced this at any afternoon tea in London. Service was mixed and rather slow on the whole. We were seated at 3:30 and have been told by 2 waiters that they will be serving us today but it took half an hour for anything to come to our table, noting there is a one and a half hour slot. Anyways we finally got our tea at 4pm, the tray followed shortly thereafter. Sandwiches were nice especially the chicken and egg truffle. Desserts were also on the better side with the custard and chocolate items delectable. Teas were also of a good standard especially the classic and green teas. We had to repeatedly get the staff attention for top ups and new teas which makes it feel rather uncomfortable. Testament to the time it takes we received our scones at around 4.45pm. It’s like once you get the tea they don’t want to serve you again. Staff did seem rather tired and bored which was not something you expect at an afternoon tea. At the end when the beard guy came to remove the plates he literally checked our plate and almost screamed “ Oh you guys finished this as well and the cream and the jam” I mean what the hell, you pay for the food. It’s a lovely location and the atmosphere should be good, there was a pianist throughout, but overall this is a second tier afternoon tea place not even close to top tier. I personally would suggest celebrating experiences elsewhere as you won’t get the special feeling and will most likely would regret coming here. There are plenty of good afternoons teas available out there and perhaps there is a reason that this doesn’t come up on any best afternoon tea lists…

Took my aunt, 2 cousins and my partner for a small birthday celebration. We all have dietary restrictions and the staff were accommodating to that. Elegant atmosphere. Delicious food.

Absolutely 5 star rating for everything about afternoon tea at The Harrods Tea Rooms. Tables dressed beautifully with crisp white tablecloths, service impeccable, afternoon tea delicious. Was pleasantly impressed at just how wonderful the whole experience at the tea rooms was. Very relaxing time spent celebrating the birthday of a friend. A lovely setting, not pompous, no need to dress formally, just respectfully. I wore a smart pair of jeans and top, some people wearing more formal, some less so. But all treated with the same service. Delivery of food and drink to the table throughout the experience was superb. The very best poached salmon in a choux bun ever tasted at an afternoon tea and the coronation chicken was absolutely delicious. The patisserie selection was amazing and the scones were just the very best, warm, light and when topped with the clotted cream and jam, a delight! Cannot fault any of the sandwiches, patisseries, scones or tea. My only dislike was the Amuse-Bouche, but this is very personal and did not distract from everything else. An extra special touch added by the delivery of a Happy Birthday decorated plate and small treat for my friend. Very sweet. A live pianist added to the ambience of the setting. Would highly recommend for a more relaxed afternoon tea as opposed to a hotel setting, but with the same level of quality and service. Price, £65pp + 12.5% service charge.

Lovely setting very relaxing. Staff were lovely and the Afternoon tea was beautiful. Changed some of the sandwiches which was no trouble. All in all a lovely experience.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a huge disappointment
We came to the tea room About one hour before they stopped serving. We waited at the host stand for over ten minutes before sometime came to seat us, and then they tried to put us at a undesirable table. We asked for a booth and we were told that a party of two can’t have a booth. The restaurant was empty so they finally sat us in the velvet booth, which was caked with dust and very stained. We got our tea and the sandwiches were very stale like they had been sitting out for hours. Same with the scones stale. The bread on the sandwiches was hard. I was afraid to eat salmon or egg sandwiches that had been sitting out for hours. Our server went on break after bringing our trays, so no one cleared our plates or offered us more tea or water and when we flagged someone down to say the sandwiches and scones were stale, they said they were closing soon and didn’t have any more food. They shrugged and walked away. The tea experience was about $120 per person, which I would gladly pay if it was a nice experience. But it was just a rip off. Dirty restaurant, rude service, old food. Also a few influencers taking pictures everywhere was so annoying. Skip it. Go to Fortnum and Mason or the Ritz, it’s far superior.

Lovely experience! Our server called Mario was very attentive and patient as I took me 3 yo with me!
Be the first to ReplyMaybe bad service is the norm here.
Stopped in London on our way to Iceland from San Francisco. I know what to expect when dining. Reservation and tea for my wife, she’s into it. Our waiter was very professional and friendly in the beginning. Ordered a bottle of champagne. All was good Until our lunch was brought to us. That was the last time I saw our waiter! Is this the norm? The expected service. In the US that’s considered bad service. Got a lot of attention when I stood up to pour what was left of the champagne! Couldn’t believe I had to pour. I did wait a long time before I checked to see if there was more champagne. Gratuity on the check already, oh well. 65 per person for lunch, I expected better. Spoke with manager on the floor. She was very apologetic! Again, is this the norm here? If this was home in SF would be my last time.
Be the first to ReplyNo flexibility and ignore notice of dietary requirements
We booked in December 2021 for today and despite having advance notice of my dietary requirements, no milk, cream or brown bread, they eventually admitted they couldn’t feed me. All bought in stuff with no flexibility. So why didn’t they tell me that during the email exchanges. To think they thought cream cheese would be ok was my final straw. Food hall full of acceptable items but never offered. Oh dear! What a very disappointing experience.

The Georgian dining room was a perfect venue for two hours of relaxation, great food, and excellent service by our waiter Joel who could not do enough to make our visit a truly great experience. A wide choice of different teas were on offer to suit all tastes.Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyElegant afternoon tea
Locating the venue can be cumbersome depending on the entrance you take into the famous department store. However, the experience is elegant and relaxing. The staff are welcoming and attentive to your needs. The choice of teas is endless and made to perfection. The sandwiches are nice and well made with a good selection. The desserts are the highlight along with the scones. Your sandwiches are refillable at no extra cost and they can become a hearty meal. The room is beautiful and the piano player helps to create that calm atmosphere. Highly recommended for that special treat.

Our 20 month old daughter is dairy free she had the most delightful afternoon vegan tea! It was freshly and delightful. I'm disappointed to say 3 of our sandwiches were crusty like they had been sat on the side for a while. We did not raise this we just enjoyed the moment. We choose to take our daughter with us if we had asked for fresh sandwiches we would of lost our time in which we were able to keep well behaved. The pionasist was outstanding and he really bought the tea room alive.

We went for our 11th anniversary. It was a beautiful space. The tea and food were good! They gave us an anniversary card (I mentioned it during the reservation ) it was not the absolute best high tea I've been to but was very good!

From start to finish the experience was fantastic. I recognised a few of the staff from working at another top restaurant in London. The whole thing was amazing. This was a treat from our Son for a belated Birthday and Fathers Day, al dietary needs were met....thankyou
