Cool speakeasy spot.
The cocktails are super cute and well crafted. The service here is great and the vibes are exquisite

If you're looking for a dimly lit corner of Las Vegas to have your soul quietly brow-beaten over cocktails, then this is your place. We were a party of 4 with a deep appreciation for traditional cocktails and speakeasies. We were impressed by the decor and vibe when we walked in and once escorted to the back, we had the pleasure of meeting both our bartender and his ego. Oh, it was clear our stoic host was doing us a favor that evening and we needed to appreciate that. Our night started by being told the long list of rules in the lowest whisper. Such rules included not raising your voice beyond a whisper (FYI they take that super serious). Drink minimums, popcorn purchase minimums, time limits, no phones, no pictures, and my favorite was DO NOT order anything that's not on the menu. (Yah, I didn't pay this ridiculous price and mandatory 25% gratuity to order a rum and coke, but ok.) Unfortunately for us, we did take a few minutes longer to order since the menu was very unique and we had questions on ingredients. That definitely wasn't smiled on (in fact, nobody smiled in there now that I think of it). Our bartender answered our questions and reminded us again of our time limit (geez - we still had an hour). At this point, we just had to chuckle under our breath at how necessarily stressful the evening turned (yah, we got scolded for that one). Overall, the drinks are good as is the decor/atmosphere. Each get 2 stars to be fair. However, the list of rules and warnings and reminders could have been handled very differently. It set a harsh tone that turned our visit into a stressful and expensive experience. I can do that for free at home.

The best drinks, best service, best experience consistently evey single time. The notes in the cocktails are well balanced and never overpowering yet the taste is clear and clean. My number 1 spot for drinks in Vegas.
Be the first to ReplyReally enjoyed are time at the Laundry room.
Nice escape from the loud craziness outside and the drinks are really good. Only disappointment was we didn't time it right for the dill-flavored popcorn (they rotate flavors through). If you're looking for a nice quiet place to have a drink in the area, this one is a neat experience.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed.
We left over a half an hour to get to old town, but we apparently needed an hour due to a crazy amount of accidents and a parade of trucks down the strip. I sent a text immediately and all I was told is there is no way to hold our table even though we were rushing. Fine, that they will not hold our table, but if I am in communication and the traffic is out of the norm, to be charged $25 is insulting. I can understand if this is the policy for someone who just doesn't care to show up. That was not the case here. We ended up at the mob museum speak easy, where lengthy reservations are not required, drinks are cheaper, and no forced purchase of popcorn or high gratuity is included. I like to tip well, but I hate to be FORCED to tip well. I will not return or book reservations here again.

I was stuck in traffic and tried calling because I was going to be 15 minutes late to their 10 minute grace period and they couldn't take me in even tho I was still on the wait list Horrible customer service. Not quick enough or have a working phone to talk to someone

I love myself a speakeasy! My husband previously visited this place and knew it was right up my alley. We were able to get a last minute resy (thank you to whoever canceled!) and we showed up without a minute to spare on the grace period. They were super nice and didn't give us any crap for that which was greatly appreciated! We checked in and glided past the line waiting for the main bar. We then waited as we were whisked away into a little holding space while the hostess explained the rules and the experience. The menu is thorough! I loved that we had plenty of time to read through the menu and were not rushed. We enjoyed a welcome drink and some popcorn while we decided on our drinks. There is a two drink minimum and unlimited popcorn must be purchased as well. It's delicious so don't be mad about that part :) We each had a couple of delicious drinks (I can't recall which because photos are not allowed and I usually post them to Yelp to remember later for my reviews). It was nice to enjoy the ambiance of the small area with nobody on their phones, just enjoying casual conversation. I also loved that we could hear the music from the bar next door but it was muted through the walls, allowing a nice ambiance. The staff is exceptional and the vibe is excellent. I'm so excited I finally got to try this place out. If you like a speakeasy vibe, you will love this place. Reservations book out I think two weeks in advance so if you plan on going on a weekend, definitely set your alarm because reservations go fast. They sometimes have a text waitlist available but secure your spot early and enjoy the Laundry Room!

I heard about this speakeasy on social media and just had to check it out. If you've never been here before and nobody told you about it, this gem would be forever hidden. Tucked behind a secret door in the Commonwealth cocktail bar is a throwback to the Prohibition era. With quaint decorations, very limited seating, and strict rules of decorum (no photos, no loud talk), you are transported to another time. The drinks are amazing, the people are wonderful, and that gourmet popcorn is the ultimate accompaniment. Make a reservation online, and enjoy this amazing one-of-a-kind experience, or you'll be forever wondering what you missed!

This establishment offers an exceptional experience that continues to impress with each visit. Having frequented the venue four times, I find myself increasingly enamored with its offerings. I enthusiastically endorse it to aficionados of the speakeasy ambiance and meticulously crafted beverages.
Be the first to ReplySpeakeasy's have become quite popular here.
But this is an oldie but the goodiest. Very small room. There are a few tables and seats at the bar. You pretty much need a reservation. The flavor combinations are wild, fun, and delicious. It's always hard for me to pick a favorite. They have a menu that you can keep. Each time you order a drink, have the staff write their initials next to the name of that drink. Once you've tried all the drinks on the menu, you get your name on a plaque! Be warned, though, they do change their menus. But if you bring in an old menu, they will honor it. I now have 2 menus (still no plaque). But my college gf comes to town several times a year, and right after she books her flight and hotel, she books us a table here. It's been our tradition for years. Give it a try! Photos are strictly prohibited, so I'm going to follow the rules. Enjoy!

Went in with a business associate after a nice dinner at Barry's prime down the street. I found the concept interesting but once inside was turned off by the stuffy bartender who lacked personality or any charm. My drink was okay but felt the server was way too serious. Turned us both off. If you can't have fun in a Vegas bar then why even go. Pop Corn was over the top and the interior was well done.
Be the first to ReplyA quiet and unique spot for a date or even a double date
A quiet and unique spot for a date or even a double date (groups of 2-4 only) as long as one is aware upfront what to expect. This is truly in the former space of The El Cortez off-site laundry room, so the tiny room is bursting with real Vegas history. You enter via The Commonwealth nightclub, which was not yet open at our 7:30pm reservation, but the door was attended and we were quickly escorted inside. The hostess took a moment to explain the origins of the place and the house rules: speak quietly, no photos, no phone calls, 2 drink minimum, 90 minutes per seating, order from the menu only, gratuity is included in total, and purchasing the popcorn is required (it's really great popcorn, and she's happy to replenish as needed). We agreed and were led to our small table, near the fantastic but unobtrusive piano player, given complimentary mocktails/punch, and handed quite an extensive menu of drink choices. The bartender attends to each person and is happy to explain flavor combinations and give his expert opinion. These concoctions are truly art- no call drinks or house wine here- but instead wonderful flavor combinations and beautiful presentation. Reservations required. I can tell by some reviews that this is not a venue for everyone, but that's exactly why I enjoyed it. It is pricey- but in line with upscale Vegas prices- and it is a whole different vibe than a typical casino bar. If you want a unique exclusive experience, this is the place.

Big disappointment! Woke up at 5am two weeks prior to try to grab a hard to get reservation- really had high expectations and zero doubts about this place. Unfortunately, our experience was not as fabulous as expected. We were seated by the hostess who gave us a little history about the speakeasy. She was kind and informative. She led us to the bar area and seated us at the bar. That's where things took a turn. The bartender was rude and not welcoming. When we asked about drink suggestions he seemed irritated and directed us to the menu. I mean isn't the idea of a speakeasy to be able to have something created for you? When someone in our group asked for a suggestion based on an old fashioned..bartender was condescending and demeaning. A friend in our group mentioned a "smoked cocktail" ..again was met with a condescending remark. It really didn't stop. The place had less than 5 guests the entire time we were seated- 70 minutes. I did enjoy his version of an expresso martini, but could not believe how rude he was nor the passive aggressive jabs he was taking in response to drink questions or in general conversation. Really wanted to love this place. We love a good speakeasy..but this place missed the mark for sure!

The drinks were the best I've ever had in Vegas or elsewhere and the service was top notch. I highly recommend going to The Laundry Room if you get a chance, it's truly one of a kind.
Be the first to ReplyDrinks are terrible.
At the end of the day a bar needs good drinks... theirs are bad. One of the first times I've determined that I'd rather pay to leave than pay for their drinks. Sad.

We waited out in the bar area of commonwealth as we were advised by bouncer/staff. No one came to get us at our reservation time. We bought a drink at the bar there, then had to buy 2 more in the laundry. The bartender and hostess were uptight and had zero personalities. The entire experience was expensive and awkward. 0/10. Would NOT recommend. Popcorn was like from the tins at Christmas time. Wayyyy tooo much money for wayyyy tooo many rules...
Be the first to ReplyI have been to many "speakeasies" in NYC.
The Laundry ranks right up there. I really enjoyed the ambiance with a lower music volume background and the relaxed, chill atmosphere. It was nice to not have to yell to talk to each other.
Be the first to ReplyMy fav bar of the entire world!!!! Well at least out of all
My fav bar of the entire world!!!! Well at least out of all the bars I have been to. It's such an unique experience - I'm not talking about the speakeasy mumble jumble. The people here understand the art of making drinks and what makes a drink great. The environment is classy and comfortable. Loud bars are my personal hell and I'm so glad I found a place I can comfortably sit all night watching magic happen behind the bar. They don't just make you a drink - they make you THE drink of your dream. As a picky customer with very specific likes and dislikes that I myself don't even quite understand sometimes, Anthony who is the manager, creator of the menu and the master piece of this place, was able to get me the drinks that I shall remember for years to come. My first visit was in Sept 2018 and the drink he recommended (Tikki-tucky) is still my favorite drink 4 years later. The other one I tried this time which is a creamy chocolate-y dessert drink (it has Alexander in the name) was also wonderful. The drinks are pricy as they charge 25% extra gratuity and service fee AND the popcorn, with a 2 drinks pp minimum, it comes to $28 a drink or over $110 for 2 people with just 2 drinks per person. I'm not sure if I think it's worth it but I still come time after time. After all I couldn't find another place that I like nearly as much. However, I do think it'll be more fair to give the customers the option to not have the popcorn (they are great popcorns - but it's Vegas, I'm constantly in a food coma) and lower the mandatory gratuity. We had a different mixologist one time that was not Anthony - although he was super nice, makes more than decent drinks and a total pleasure to be around, I didn't like 2 out of the 3 drinks that I ordered. Would've been nice if it was reflected in my bill even so slightly. Also, you cannot make a one person reservation which seems like a discrimination against being single. They also have very strict dress code - absolutely no leggings. A lady got turned away even with a nice jacket and knee high boots on. She was totally presentable and stylish and that just seemed outrages in 2023. Otherwise once you get in, service is great and everyone is super nice and fun. Anthony isn't the most chatty person you can find, but he's good at what he does. I thought he was friendly and patient with us given we were very patient, friendly and respectful towards him. He also had no problem sharing what's in our drink, and even shared his knowledge and recommended some liquor for us to buy and try. I'm sure everyone has bad days, but our experience was great.

Lame. It's a bar in downtown Las Vegas that thinks it is something special. After waiting months to secure a reservation, we were denied entry because "athletic wear" is not allowed per the dress code. We were told Nike or other tennis shoes are not allowed. I don't see many people walking around Las Vegas who aren't wearing tennis shoes. Maybe the real issue is that we weren't the kind of cute young women you want in your bar. Adding my experience to the snarky tone of responses tioo other YELP reviews from the "business manager" of this establishment, I am happy it did not get a dime of my money. Circa, nearby, is the bomb with very friendly and entertaining bartenders and no pretense or borderline discriminatory practices. There are so many options for fun in Vegas, skip The Laundry Room. Now I am being called a liar. You check your reservation records Great customer relations, not.

Solid speakeasy in Las Vega$! We looked around for a bar to check out, and kept coming across The Laundry Room on different online lists. We weren't sure what it would be like, but definitely we're more excited to find an opening just a few hours before on the same day. Since Commonwealth wasn't open, it was thankfully a peaceful low key evening at The Laundry Room. Tied with lots of history, the space is certainly a piece of history-- and just good jazzy-vibes all around.I personally enjoyed my two (sour based) drinks-- one with tequila as the based and the other a light rum. Yum yummy. Solid drinks all for $18. Unlimited popcorn for $6. Shoutout to Tyler (spelling?) for keeping the drinks strong and coming!A favorite was being asked for song choices for the pianist to play! It was such a treat. Leon (the pianist) is incredibly talented. Random things: currently their inside baño is busted but thankfully since Commonwealth was closed, you don't need to fight to use the loo/potty!Overall YES! Lives up to all the hype!
Be the first to ReplyCommonwealth wasn't open at the time of our reservation but
Commonwealth wasn't open at the time of our reservation but there was a host stand set up outside the red front doors where we were checked in. I was really nervous about this part (finding it and then getting in, since I knew CW was closed ahead of time) but it was all very self-explanatory/easy upon arrival! After a short wait inside the empty Commonwealth bar, we were walked through the first set of doors and the rules / pricing was explained, and then we were seated. The interior is lovely and fits the vintage/speak-easy theme well. Initially it felt a bit like drinking in a library! I was thinking it would be similar to Vanderpump; classy cocktails, pretty decor, and it is! But it is MUCH more refined. A very different atmosphere from the typical Vegas craziness, even just outside the door, but then that's the whole point, isn't it? As the liquor started flowing and another party or two came in, the vibe loosened up a bit and we did end up having a good time. A pianist came in after a bit and that helped as well.As far as drinks, our very first 'welcome' drink (non-alcoholic) was a tasty start. We then browsed the menu - we really do not drink ANYTHING like their menu offerings and had a hard time getting started. My MIL actually asked for the 'welcome' drink to just be made alcoholic and the bartender told us he couldn't which we all thought was strange. We ordered our first drinks off the menu based on the bartenders recommendations, I believe his name was Ricky. My first drink was okay but my boyfriend and MIL didn't really care for theirs. We had told him what we typically drink so I was surprised at how far off-base the recs were. For our second round, we continued to struggle with the menu and were all getting a little frustrated as everything we had heard/read described 'custom' drinks and there was even a page on the menu to help with this, but even though all of us were clearly having a hard time, Ricky continued to direct us menu items we didn't think we'd enjoy.I admit, mine and my MIL's second drinks tasted good even though they weren't really something we wanted to order; I don't generally care for cream liquors, for example, and I wouldn't re-order, it's just not my thing. My boyfriend's second drink was inedible but I really don't consider it an issue as Ricky quickly offered to make a new drink instead and that replacement drink was probably the best drink of the night! Delicious. Too bad we have no idea what it was, hah!By the time we made it to our third drinks, I was dying for the 'custom' experience and finally begged Ricky to take our custom orders. All of us LOVED these. If we would have been served these the entire time, we probably wouldn't have left until they needed the table!I think (almost) all drinks were well-crafted, some just really didn't suit our tastes. We left feeling our liquor but the alcohol was only overpowering in the one drink that was replaced. My only reason for docking a star is the bartenders reluctance to offer the custom drink experience they are known for and advertise. If we would have been able to drink something closer to our preferences from the get go, or at least on the second round (!), we would have had a better overall experience. We will probably go back but will stand our ground about ordering something we actually want instead of being pressured into menu items.

She was adorable and sweet. The door person was a jerk. Cute place with fun drinks. Enjoyed it.
Be the first to ReplyBooked a reservation on a whim while looking for something
Booked a reservation on a whim while looking for something slightly different to do on our Vegas vacation other than "the usual". From the moment we were welcomed in, we were transported to a completely different time! Andrew was a fantastic at setting the tone, relaying expectations of the "speakeasy", and making sure we were always set with waters/popcorn/anything. One thing to note - there are a set of rules to abide by while here. There incredibly easy to follow, and literally written, explained, repeated, and listed EVERYWHERE, so no one should be surprised. And, if you are surprised, please go get your reading listening comprehension checked. If you do misstep and break one of the rules, Andrew and/or your mixologist are professionals at getting the offending parties back in line - without making you feel as if you just need to pay your bill and leave. Cody was our mixologist for the evening, and he was phenomenal! Andrew encouraged my partner and I to order off the menu, and every single time Cody knocked it out of the park. I had to force myself to take it slow and appreciate each drink because all I wanted to do was down it and order another (haha). For my final drink I challenged Cody to make me a drink that was spicy - a huge challenge as my spice tolerance is that of the most basic of basic white girls (seriously, sweet BBQ sauce is normally a bit much for me).He. Killed. It. The drink he created had roasted poblano pepper as the spicy, and he balanced it so perfectly with other flavors that I was finally able to understand what I was missing out on with my abomination of a spice tolerance. The long and short of this review is: Do not pass on this place. If you even have the slightest chance to work it into your itinerary - do it. You will absolutely not be disappointed.
