The Musket Room New York Reviews from The Last Year
New Zealand cuisine tasting menu, One Michelin star
New Zealand cuisine tasting menu, One Michelin star Resturant. Not a particular dish stands out but overall solid quality. The service was caring, easygoing, and attentive. Ambiance was good, the space is rustic, but in a stunning way. And turns out, the kitchen is a female led kitchen team which I thought it's pretty cool :)

TLDR: Beautiful presentation and a great place for an occasion dinner. This restaurant definitely deserves its Michelin star for presentation and ambiance alone. The service was also lovely and the a la carte gave us options to customize our menu. We highly recommend trying an array of dishes
Wonderful food and flavors.
The food itself is worthy of a michelin star. However, we were unexpectedly charged for the "still water". $20 for two bottles. Just be aware when the waiters ask "still or sparkling" to say "tap (unbottled)" if you don't want to be charged for water. Regardless, the still water we had was quite nice, Antipodes water from New Zealand. Menu is attached as well for those who are curious. Total per person cost after tip and tax was $200. Waiters were quite attentive throughout the meal and all dishes were explained once they were served. My favorite was the first dish (albeit small): the Uni Mushroom Consomme. The Kristal Caviar was quite nice as well. Overall, an excellent dining experience with unique and exquisite flavors.

Great restaurant that unfortunately was a bit thin with vegetarian options. Opening drink menu is pretty simple, but loved my cold brew and campari cocktail: very chill but well done so it gets points. And the gnocchi I got was absolutely stunning; beautiful presentation and I just do not understand how they got the crisp on each bite as they did. Portion size is pretty small so I was a bit hungry, but ambiance and service here were all great, so would recommend... especially if you have less dietary restrictions

Simply amazing! We had the omnivore tasting menu with the following three add ons: Kristal Caviar Service with Crème Fraîche, Egg Confit & Japanese Milk Bread $115 Jamón Ibérico with Smoked Mussels, Potato & Saffron $18 Potato Gnocchi with Morels, Pistachio & Loroco $28 The flavors in the dishes from the tasting menu were fantastic. They felt very heavy and rich. We also enjoyed the add ons. The milk bread and crème fraiche really brought out the caviar flavors! The service was fantastic too.
Had the omnivore option for the tasting menu - overall
Had the omnivore option for the tasting menu - overall nothing stood out except the KRISTAL CAVIAR WITH CAULIFLOWER, SEA BEAN & EGG YOLK - this was delicious! Service was amazing. Good for one time try.
Pampered excellence
Cosseted away in the back room we spent several delightful hours here on a cold, rainy midweek evening. Service and food ( we did the tasting menu) were innovative and beautifully done. Kudos to the chef and staff for creating this little gem.
Delicious food and wines
The Musket Room is amazing. The food is really delicious. The wines are great. Everything was delicious. Such an incredible evening.

Celebrated Valentines Day here, and got to experience the Musket Room x Salt&Straw menu. We were really impressed how they were able to weave in the ice cream/sweet aspect into all the dishes. The cocktail I got had sorbet inside which was cute, but definitely too sweet for me. The food was perfect though, we thoroughly enjoyed every dish. Service was great and the sommelier was so nice.

Nicely prepared food and fine service, but the quality and tastes leave something to be desired. I did the vegan menu and my wife did the omnivore. Both good but not great for a one star Michelin. Also we left hungry. We decided to spent the additional 30 for wagu beef which was a mistake. Two small noisettes that were tough and were truly not worthy of the extra fee. A real shame. Additionally the place is very casual and quite noisy. I will however comment that the management when aware of our issue with the meat was very responsive, which was very respectable.
Amazing tasting menu
Another one of my favorite tasting menus. Such attention to detail with flavor and presentation. Really liked the foie gras, halibut, venison, caviar and pudding. Beautiful experience.
Classy but casual
Nice room Good bar/barman Calm tranquil atmosphere Food outstanding small plates/sharing Bread and mousse Duck Croquettes Oysters Outstanding desert. Panacotta. Best meal of the trip
Disappointing!
Disappointed! Starting with the cocktails, unimpressive, weak, too much ice in the smallest possible glass. Appetizers- pate was average, bread and butter was boring (and not everyone likes anchovies), lamb tartare was interesting but the portion was so small it was pitiful. Mains- we had the duck and salmon. Duck was average, I had better duck in my local not Michelin star restaurants, the salmon was good. Dessert- we didn’t find anything attractive so we did not order dessert. Service was ok, didn’t find the staff friendly and helpful. Bartender was not personable, it was more important to her to chit chat with the staff than to look after the only two people at the bar! Overall - not worth it! We would not recommend and won’t be coming back!
We celebrated my mother's birthday here.
She loved it. We all did the 8 course menu and 2 of our party of 4 chose the wine pairing. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. We definitely would come back again.
Second visit to this place was very disappointing.
The food was very plain with several raw dishes that some people just don't eat. The tasting menu started with raw oyster. It was fresh but all my friends don't eat raw oysters or meat. Second course was raw lamb with strong flavors of onions and nutmeg. All of us were shocked by chef choice of menus. Another course was pork chop that was cold, tasteless, with parts of fat and connective tissues. The sauce that was used was very salty and another one had no taste. Small bird was dry and no flavor. Even desert was not enjoyable with burned peace of toast on top of it. All dishes were plainly served. I don't think i will come back or recommend it to anyone. New York has so many choices.
Tasteless menu
This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant. 1st was amazing and I recommended it to others. This time was completely different experience and I don’t think I want to come back. The service was very good but not great. The waiters were attentive and add water and changed plates and silverware appropriately but if they saw food left on the plates asked if we liked it or not. So the food choices for this tasting menu were not the best and presented in very plain ways. Out of 7 courses 3 were raw products mix of seafood and different meat. 1 st corse oysters raw. Table of 4 had only 1 person who eats raw oysters. They were delicious though. 2nd course was tartar out of lamb with distinguished taste of nut mag flavor. Very simple dish with questionable flavor. None of us liked it. 3rd course was the best (mouse of cauliflower, potato and caviar) with amazing flavor and texture that was Michelin dish only out of 7. 4th was kind of dry small bird, very simple presentation. Than was pork stake almost raw, cold with big pieces of fat and connective tissues, over salted sauce. Even desert was not good with strong flavor of peanut butter and totally burned peace of slice of toast on top of it. Unbelievable, tasteless dinner. Drinks made with cheap liquor that gave me headaches as soon as we left the place with unpleasant aftertaste of cheap tequila. I hope the chef reads reviews and makes some changes. People come to Michelin restaurants for great surprises in food and drinks. This was absolutely nothing good about food.
Clever tricks, average food
Wanted to dine here for a few years. The menu looked solid (but didn't really excite). They drowned the fish dish in a completely overpowering sauce. Service was below par, as the restaurant's trick with the wine pairing is to serve the next wine immediately after the last dish is finished. This was done throughout the meal, often leaving 10-15 minute gaps between wine pour and food pairing. It's a pairing. If you leave wine on the table, with nothing else, it will get drunk. This was particularly distressing for the main meat course. They poured a wonderful 2001 Chateau Beaucastel, 15 minutes before the dish arrived. It was gone by the time it arrived. We politely asked about a drop more, and were told it would be $60 for a 3 oz pour. We were made to feel like we had done something wrong. Unpleasant experience. We will not be back.
Super smart hang out, great food
Sat here at the bar for drinks and food, with a friend. Superb staff, friendly. Drinks selection awesome. Shared the breads and the chicken main. Beautifully served and cooked, we gobbled it all.
Too expensive for the experience
Although there are many positives to this restaurant, the overall experience was disappointing since the entre portions were miniscule and after we finished our meal we went for additional food. We are not huge eaters and often do not finish our meals. Not here! ON the plus side, the service was excellent and the food quality was superior. Despite this we could not recommend the restaurant because the price did not justify the value.
Should get another star!
Amazing experience, food was excellent and service was not only great but it actually seemed like the service team was enjoying what they were doing. Much better than some two stars I have visited. Very happy with the dinner and the experience.
