"This was great experience - I have have been there many times. The food was absolutely amazing I had the Chef's tasting menu with included lamb and she had White Asparagus a Shrimp and Lobster dish and duck. The truth was - that once the main course came - be had it boxed up - because we were so pleasantly full. The service was attentive and informed. Just a great night - thank you so much."

I hosted a 30 person event that was executed flawlessly by the chef, wait staff, and the som!! The food was served hot and fresh as if it was prepared for a party of two. The service was fantastic. I'm never disappointed when I leave The Refectory.
Really nice dining experience.
We came for the tasting menu and also paired the wine with it. Very pricey and we were underwhelmed with the fourth course which was cheese. Otherwise still fun to try. The regular dinner menu looks delicious and we'll definitely try that out next time. Very old church gives a cozy, antique atmosphere.

I've lost count how many times we have experienced The Refectory. One of our family faves. IMO it is the closest restaurant in Central Ohio that could/should have a Michelin *. They have successfully made the transition from traditional plating to small plates. Chef produces a different menu almost everyday. Check their website. The environment continues to be 5*. We love to sit in the bar area. Service is attentive but a bit amateurish. That's ok, professional servers are a thing of the past. Our server was menu knowledgeable and super personable. We ordered a salad app, bread and two plates. I think we should have gotten a third plate but the selections were minimal. We ended with the pear tart. App. Small plates. Desert. 5*. Our house Cabernet. 5* Our house Old Fashion was a disappointment at $15. We had to send it back to sweeten it up...and it was drowned in ice. I love that I can keep commenting that this is a 5* establishment.
Always delicious.
We usually save this for special occasions, but have never been let down.
Incredible fine dining- a must try
This incredible, high class restaurant is our all time favorite anywhere, regardless of the city or country. The building is a historic church and schoolhouse, with high beamed rafters, stained glass windows, indirect lighting, and massive beams. The tables are nestled in cozy corners with live candles, flowers and tablecloths. Chef Richard prepares amazing dishes like the melt -in-your-mouth scallop timbale and zucchini and mushroom salad. The food is presented as smaller plates and you can have them brought in any order. Our birthday dinner included salads, a fish dish and a meat dish each. The lamb chops were tender and delicious. Cyrilβs cocktails are spot on: perfect and generous. Claytonβs service is top notch, assisted by experts who refill glasses, bring more butter and replace utensils. They know service. Kudos to this fine dining establishment, a rarity in todayβs world. Please patronize it and keep this kind of place going for all of us. Itβs the best.
The best of Europe in Ohio!
We have eaten at Michelin Star restaurants in Europe and this French restaurant in Ohio, is one of favorite experiences EVER! Atmosphere, Food, Wine Pairing, and Serviceβ¦all 5 Stars! Joseph was fantastic and made excellent recommendations and brought us extras from the Chef to experience. We have already booked another evening while we are in town.
Good food, not so good service
Let me start by saying the food was delicious although my lamb was over cooked and all the dishes were very small portions. However the service was not up to what I would expect when spending this kind of money in a restaurant. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and were looking forward to a leisurely dinner. We felt very rushed from the start! The first thing out of our waiter's mouth was "do you know what you would like to order?" He (Joseph) asked us that at least 3 times before we had time to review the menu and decide on what we would like. We got the feeling that he could care less whether we dined there and that there were more important guests for him to attend to. Never did he offer to explain anything on the menu unless we asked. We ordered a cheese plate and he set it down and walked away. Not a word about what the different cheeses were! Needless to say this night did not turn out the way we had envisioned. They did put a candle in my wife's desert but as I kind of expected, it was not complimentary!
Exceptional 45thAnniversary Dinner
My wife and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at The Refectory last night. It is expensive, but every single aspect of the dinner was exceptional. We each ordered the CHEFβS FIVE COURSE TASTING MENU with the GRAND CRU WINE PAIRING. What an amazing dining experience! Taylor, their wine sommelier, did an exceptional job of describing each wine we tasted as well as the background on each winery. Each course was paired perfectly with the wine, and both enhanced the other. In fact, my wife tasted the 2019 Venissa Dorona di Venezia before we received our second course and said it wasn't to her liking. I persuaded her to wait until she had taken a couple of bites of the second course before making judgment. When she did so, she loved the pairing. Speaking of the second course, oh my, was it divine! The second course was Gambas and Dover Sole Tarte (leek fondue, basil crepe and carrot ginger velvet sauce). The sauce was amazing, and the shrimp and sole were cooked perfectly. I told my wife that a larger of portion of that would have been a complete meal for me! Yet we had more courses coming. The herb crusted filet mignon melted in your mouth, and the roasted Montrachet cheese was a perfect end of the savory part of the meal. Our dessert was Alsatian Goat Cheese and Georgia Peach Dome. It was so beautiful on the plate that we almost hated to eat it! Almost .... we loved eating every bit of it, and we really enjoyed the dessert wine, a Hungarian AszΓΊ, to finish the evening. We were in a small area of about five tables, so the dining experience felt private. The service was top notch. It had been six months since our last dinner at The Refectory, and we were reminded that it is clearly the best dining experience in Columbus.

Ask a Question |
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
