My cousin went to this restaurant few days ago with me.
The service and food are both great. This is an American-Japanese fusion restaurant and we just had perfect steak and fish filet, also the waiter is fantastic, very friendly and talkative. I'll go back again for sure!
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed everything about this experience.
The waiter was very helpful answering our questions and choosing a bottle of wine that went with my fish and her steak. We both loved our meals. Never have I been served a fish dinner that arrived at the table HOT! It was very delicious. The Wagu beef was melt in your mouth tender and the flavor was wonderful! The red wine was perfect with my succulent fish (I'd never heard of this fish and cannot remember what it was). The cotton candy was an added bonus! I'd love to have another meal here!

I strongly believe that The Sea is one of the best fine dining restaurants in the Bay Area. The Sea is by far the place to go for special occasions because they will go the extra mile to ensure your experience is unforgettable. From the toasted sesame croissant, to the buttery Ora King salmon, tender mussels and lobster fried rice, to the luxurious ube tiramisu and chocolate cake... everything was perfection. I have been to many Michelin Star restaurants in California, NYC, and Europe, and was still deeply impressed by the quality and attention to detail at The Sea. I was further impressed by Ricardo and the team's generous hospitality that brightened my day. I will be coming back soon! I love the outdoor dining that is so clean and safe with great air circulation. We only do outdoor dining for safety reasons and I am grateful that The Sea provides a beautiful outdoor dining option. Thank you for an amazing Easter Brunch & birthday celebration!

Very professional and knowledgable. Johnothan was our server and he made our evening enjoyable. We watched the cooks cooking our meal with passion and love for what they did. We will come and visit again for sure..This is a must try fine dining experience. We love the service and people.
Be the first to ReplyIt has been a while since I've been back here.
The last was in 2017! My husband brought me here to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted with such eloquence by the two hostess in the reception area and quickly led us to our table. After being seated, I was given a "Happy Birthday" card which was such a nice touch. We were given the wine and drinks menu and shortly after we were greeted by our server, Stephen. As always, the service was superb and the ambience is always romantic. Spacing in between tables was perfect to keep conversations more private at bay. Our order was taken and we were given some bread rolls and garlic biscuits to start off with paired with what looks like butter that was made the night before or that morning. I could tell it was churned fresh. We ordered the steamed mussels, filet mignon and the wagyu strip steak. Oh the steamed mussels were so delicious! The filet mignon and wagyu strip was also very flavorful and tender. I should've asked for medium well, but the medium was soft. We couldn't finish our main course since we were so full from the bread and the mussels. But we did save room for dessert. For dessert we got a complimentary mousse cake for my birthday, and we also ordered this chocolate bombe with devil's food cake and espresso with amaretto ice cream. It was sooooo good. On top of all the sweets, we were presented with a pina colada cotton candy. This is what I always look forward to with any of the Alexander Steakhouse restaurants is the cotton candy. Alexanders and The Sea has always been a part of our celebrations and will continue traditions with them. Thank you for the fantastic service and superb food!

We decided to do a splurgy parents' night out/late Valentine's Day. We went in not knowing what to expect and left so happy! The whole experience start to finish made us feel so special and satisfied. We had the best service, and the food was seriously the best! We didn't have any steak and kept it to all seafood, and I kid you not, every single bite was to die for! highly recommend the hamachi shots and lobster rocks!

The salad was average, the soup of the day was delicious, the Hawaiian sea bass itself was good. The vermicelli I felt like was a poor pairing for the sea bass. It threw off the dish a bit, kind of reminded me of childhood sopa de fideo lol. The medium rare steak was chewier than I'd expected from an above average steakhouse. The hot tea was great. The dessert was wonderful.

We splurged on Valentine's day and came here for a celebratory dinner. Service: There's really only a few experiences I've had in the Bay Area where I felt like the server just held our hand throughout the meal in a way that I felt a bond to them afterwards, and this was one of those experiences. Our server was just top-notch, super friendly/warm, giving us suggestions, making us feel like us enjoying the meal was his number one priority. Ambience: romantic, upscale vibes. Sometimes I find steakhouse atmosphere to be too stuffy, but we had a fun time here. Wine: I was intimated by the enormous book of wine bottles. Just once I would love to dine with someone who orders $1000 bottle wines... I purposefully chose the cheapest wine by the glass and enjoyed it a lot! Food: They start off with a amuse-bouche as well as a small basket/assortment of complimentary bread We also had the grilled octopus as an appetizer, which generally I'm not a huge fan of, but my husband really enjoyed. We both ended up ordering fish for our entrees, though my husband was tempted by the red meat options. Again, our server did a great job explaining the differences between the fish. My husband likes spicier dishes, and also chewier fish- he loved his Monkfish dish. I love buttery/fatty super tender fish, and he recommended their Mero, which was just perfect. I enjoyed the soy glaze, and the bed of chopped vermicelli noodles and edamame that it came on top of. For dessert they gave us a huge complimentary cotton candy . We also ordered the Pretty in Pink panna cotta. I liked that the fruit flavors weren't overpowering, but otherwise the dessert was fairly average. Our neighbors ordered the Burnt Almond Bombe which looked really good! Plenty of parking in the lot.

Ambiance: luxurious and very comforting Service: The staff throughout was very professional. They greet you and make sure you have a comfortable time. Our server Jon (sorry if I misspelled your name), was excellent. He was humorous yet so professional. He helped guide us with the menu and ensured that we were satisfied with each item! His hospitality was very heartwarming, which greatly contributed to a memorable experience. We hope to have time as our server again in the near future! Chef Pratik dishes are phenomenally plated and executed beautifully. His staff is well composed and create such a hospitable experience. Food: we ordered a lot of delicious dishes from the menu and to name a few of my favorites: - get the oysters! They were so clean to the palate and so good! - hamachi shots are a classic! Will always be my favorite and continue to be - beef tartare was so well done and never knew it would pair so nicely with pomegranate gazpacho - the lobster rocks, phenomenal because the texture and temperature was on point!!! - winter wonderland dessert: amazing!!! All the dishes were so delicious! I can't wait to come back!!!
Be the first to ReplyOf the best dinners I ever had.
As a person that doesn't eat meat this restaurant is perfect for me. Everything we ordered was so delicious. Our server was great and even got for us for birthday cake. Highly recommend !!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, ambience and service.
Tried Monk fish and Squid ink lobster bites. Worth returning.

They provided a prefixed menu so weren't able to everything . This was our first time there and the service was immaculate. Since it was Alexander by the sea , I decided to go with the sea bass. Sea bass was buttery delight. It paired well with miso lemon sauce and vermicelli. The presentation of the edamame and mushrooms depicts a plate from the forest floor . Dessert was good but a little sweet. Ambiance felt like a fine dining restaurant. Here's the menu we ate Mixed Baby Greens meyer lemon / marcona almonds / yuzu vinaigrette Entrรฉe Course select one Catch of the Day miso / lemon / edamame / vermicelli / seasonal mushrooms Dessert Chocolate Strawberry Mousse Cake matcha rice krispies / strawberry gel / vanilla cremeux Instagram: overdarainbow123

I very much enjoyed my dinner here last month! The food was amazing- very high quality and tasty. We enjoyed several appetizers and a delicious selection of bread. Service was top-notch and very attentive. I would recommend a dinner here any time!

Service is immaculate, but it's definitely overpriced for the appetizers and main course.
Be the first to ReplyMy experience at Sea by Alexander's was in a word, odd.
The restaurant decor is nice and provides an upscale vibe. I also appreciate that there was an option for a tasting menu as well as a la carte. The wines by the glass menu was small and only had five options for red, all priced in the $20 to $28 range for what I found to be a short pour. Service was good. I liked that an amuse bouche and bread with butter were provided complimentary. My meal is where things went wrong. For an appetizer I ordered the tuna tartare. It came with saffron rice (why?) and so much yuzu that it tasted like marmalade. The yuzu was entirely overwhelming. Next was the beef tataki. It came with edamame, large chunks of tofu, a hard boiled egg, pickles, and a huge ring of mustard. It was a very disjointed dish. At least the beef was quality but the rest of those ingredients were unnecessary. Up next was the grilled lobster with parsnip purรฉe and yes, more oddly placed edamame. The lobster and purรฉe were good but didn't go well with the edamame. At the end of the meal, each table is brought a complimentary cone of cotton candy. Strange but fun. Overall I was unimpressed with Sea by Alexander's ingredient pairings but the quality of the meat and seafood was obvious. Perhaps I'll give it another try in the future if the menu changes.

My sister took me here for my birthday dinner on a Sunday night and it was soooo good! I was even given a birthday card from the Resturant which I thought was niceThe service was excellent, quiet and intimate space and the food was all delicious! We had a little booth close to the kitchen so I liked our seating arrangementsI had Monk and a berry cocktail and we ordered hamachi shots and lobster rocks for appetizers with a side of fries. For entrees we had the Miso black cod and filet mignon and for dessert I had a little birthday treat and cotton candy! Parking: ample parking I highly recommend coming here for a special event!

The website has a link for ordering pickup orders, and the whole process works and charged my credit card. However, when I called to check on the order, I was informed that The Sea does NOT do pickup orders anymore, and they would check on the website. What a waste of time!
Be the first to ReplyParty of 4 here to celebrate a birthday.
Spoiler alert-- didn't get our birthday dessert, nor did the server mention anything... ordered dessert anyway. Service is always on point here and food was quick this time. Our party ordered all fish entrees (miso cod x 2, seared scallops, and sea bass). We also got lobster rocks as an appetizer. Food was delicious as I inhaled my entree.. maybe I was just really hungry? Lol. I think I finished my entree in 5 mins flat. Even after bread, I was still hungry! Must be the nursing mother in me that needs the extra calories.. haha! Not my first time and def not my last. We always enjoy eating here. Knocked the star off for our missing bday dessert.

Food was great--we got the Hamachi shots and lobster rocks for appetizers and they were amazing. Lobster fried rice and seared mero were also great, and they give you cotton candy as dessert which was awesome. The bathroom looks like it could be a fancy lounge, and the main dining room was nice and spacious. Our host Joanna made our date night so much fun. She went above and beyond to accommodate us and help us get to our movie right after on time. She's honestly the best and made our time at Alexander's one of the best date night outings we've had in a while. Thank you Joanna! We're looking forward to come back!
Be the first to ReplyThe Sea used to be my go-to spot.
It consistently had fresh, high-quality seafood, beautiful presentation, stellar service, and a beautiful ambiance. It was always a hit.Now that it's been multiple visits without all of the above, I can't say it's as amazing anymore. The quality of food has definitely deteriorated throughout all of Covid and while it's not bad per se, it's no longer worth the price tag. This is what we got:- Lobster Rocks - 3/5: this used to be one of my favorites, but now it's just so bland. Fresh lobster, but even the almond puree and truffle dipping sauces tasted like nothing. The sauce was oddly sweet with no hint of savory in there. - Popcorn Crab - 3/5: Great concept. Fried food? Awesome. Fresh crab? Awesome. How do you mess this up?! Again, the flavor was highly lacking. - Hamachi Shots - 4/5: Still good, but not great like before. It used to be 5/5, now it's 4/5. No better than the hamachi carpaccio you get at 10+ other places.- Miso Black Cod - 3.5/5: Not much miso or buttery cod flavor anymore.- Seared Mero (Wild Hawaiian sea bass) - 4/5: Yummy! Buttery fish with a soy-honey glaze, vermicelli, edamame. The vermicelli was odd. I didn't care fot it, but the fish itself was yummy.- Brussels Sprouts - 2/5: Soggy and not charred to a perfect crisp anymore. It's literally 10x better at Yard House or Eureka, and 1/3 the size here.- Wild Mushrooms - 4/5: Best dish out of everything here, except maybe Hamachi Shots. But so so tiny.- Burnt Almond Bombe - 4/5: Yummy amaretto ice cream and toasted almonds with vanilla cream in a devil's food chocoalte bomb, topped with hot espresso caramel- Pretty in Pink - 3.5/5: Lychee panna cotta, guava tel, rose meringue, and cranberry. It was super sweet for panna cotta and not airy and fresh, but the flavor was good.- Cotton Candy - 5/5: The ONLY dish that is consistently stellar here!

Amazing food and our server Joanna was incredibly warm and was a real pro server!
Be the first to ReplyThe Sea by Alexander is a huge disappointment.
The portions are small and the prices are sky-high, making for a poor value. The restaurant seems to prioritize style over substance, but the end result is unsatisfying. The food lacks flavor and creativity, and the overall experience is forgettable. There's nothing to write home about and I would not recommend it. There are plenty of other seafood restaurants out there that offer better value and a more enjoyable dining experience. Save your time and money and move on.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent ambiance and service.
Food was highly mediocre, especially at those prices. We were disappointed.
