We were a bit disappointed by this Michelin star restaurant.
Overall, the food was very good, but didn't stand-out. And it was very expensive. The decor was elegant and certainly classified as fine dining. But the service was a bit cold and distant -- as if we were doing them a favor by eating there. They certainly didn't make us feel welcome. Next time, we will stick to the hawker stalls!

The nicest thing about this place is the stylish yet cozy dining room. The food is good, although several dishes tend to be a bit too salty, and in my personal opinion is not as succulent as Punjab Grill or Rang Mahal. Service is professional, although I was surprised that the staff had to be reminded to close the door of the private dining room where we dined several times throughout the evening. Why this received a Michelin star and not the other two restaurants is yet another example of the fact that Michelin are not equipped to rate Asian restaurants.

I read about the song of India in a Michelin star online article so I definitely thought it was worth about $30 to give a try especially if it's a buffet where I can sample many dishes. Upon arrival at the restaurant, I was very disappointed to find out that they did not have the buffet as promised. However, after speaking with the manager, he agreed to put together a tasting plate for me.Much to my surprise, it was a four-course feast starting with tomato soup, four different items on a hot appetizer platter, and then six different things on the entree platter. There was also a dessert with mango ice cream. I'm not an expert on Indian food but everything was tasty. One item was a little salty but maybe it's supposed to be that way. I don't know. Service was excellent. To me, a Michelin star restaurant requires a certain standard and attention to detail. There were so many things that really made me question how this restaurant received a Michelin star. Those things included a far less than perfect bathroom, a waiter who points at things on my plate with his middle finger, and then finally gives me his business card and asked me to write a review on TripAdvisor. See my pictures but I was very surprised by these things.

How did this get a Michelin star?!Service: awkward, clumsy, poorly timed, annoying when you sit down, then hard to get their attention once you have ordered.Food: the set menu option is chronically over priced. The food is ultra-bland, all salt, no spice, not aromatic, not Indian as you might enjoy it. You can get better Indian food at an airport. All the meat ingredients were dry and poor quality. This was a major problem. The Tandoor chicken was so dry that we could not eat it. The odd-shaped serving plates create an unappetising appearance, and makes the food hard to eat, and worst of all, cold. I think the only thing we enjoyed (relatively speaking) was the teaspoon of black lentils. I recommend ordering vegetarian as maybe you will avoid the poor quality meat. The drink menu reflects the customer base: endless wines for corporate entertaining, not much else. Some of their cocktails were actually ok though.Atmosphere: none, zero. This is a dull corporate dinning venue. We went because it was conveniently nearby. Big mistake.

Meh. Weekday buffet at ~$50 is definitely not worth it. Stick to the hole in the walls in little India. This is a place to entertain clients in an elegant, clean environment. But, if you're looking for authentic and delicious Indian food in Singapore, head to many of the busy, cheap restaurants in little India. Not sure why this place has a Michelin star. The appetizers were bleh. The paneer and chicken curries were delicious. Gajar halwa was dry. Mango ice cream was not cold enough so not firm.

Despite some not so great reviews, I decided to give it a try cos it's the only Indian restaurant with a Michelin star in Singapore.I'm so glad I did. The food, from starter to main to dessert is simply sumptuous. The cooking is refine and subtle, and yet tasty. No wonder those who want strong chilli hot Indian food, esp the South Indian kind, found it bland. For different palates, not comparable. By the way, I also love hot Indian food of Race Course road variety. The ambience is cozy comfortable and service up to marks.Highly recommended. Going back again

Definitely not close to being good enough for a michelin star. They charge setvice charge in addition to taxes and gst. I tried the journey of india set menu, and half the dishes were very salty, the okra was burnt. Service was good, friendly staff, but they were more busy in chit chat amongst themselves rather than provide the best service. Overall, not worth.

Really nice quality Indian food and attentive service but the only let down was that the diners did not bother to dress up despite the lovely setting of a colonial house. If dining alone, be ready for a few stares if you are a woman - I think they don't see too many lone-ranger women diners here. It's a great place to take your parents, but would not recommend it for office colleagues or a date.

was concerned a 1 Star Michelin Indian restaurant would be too remote and disconnected from Indian food for my preference. Somehow Song Of India was both authentic and innovative. Tastes and flavors were familiar but heightened delicate and enjoyable. Excellent staff and setting. A true Michelin experience

Very well set up Indian restaurant and this pleasantly surprised me. Very few Indian restaurants I have seen spend time in food presentations and this was most unique point for this restaurant. We were an office group of 9 and opted for the set course - non vegetarian - Journey through India. Good appetizers in salmon and tandoori and a very nice dessert choice. Definitely worth trying if you fancy some "fancy" Indian restaurant!
