nothing better!! The wine list is like a phone book. Very extensive, impressive and delicious. on any given night there's 3 to 5 wine sommeliers to assist in the perfect selection. The food is equally impressive. Great service/staff.

The restaurant goes above and beyond in both food and service. We try to eat at the Bar, because it's less expensive, and we enjoy Chris who usually works Wednesdays and Sundays. Larry of Redwood City

Lovely, cozy atmosphere, great food and wine service, and very well executed food. Very nice wine list. One small hiccup ... martini I ordered hadn't come by the time the wine service started. Nice plate of amuse bouches to start. The Dungeness crab risotto was perfectly cooked ... al dente with right amount of moisture/sauce. Bouillon to make the sauce, for me, was just a touch too rich (and I didn't get much of the saffron or fennel mentioned on the menu). Could have used a bit of a subtle foil, like dots of saba or something else acidic. A5 Wagyu rib eye was outstanding and perfectly cooked to medium rare ... I don't eat mushrooms and it comes with a sauce forestiere, so they served it without sauce and a marsala sauce on the side. Did not need or eat the sauce as the meat was supremely outstanding on its own and with the roasted cippolinis. The potato mille-feuille was dry. My husband and our friends loved their Dungeness bisque, lobster vol-au-vent, and honey pistachio glazed duck breast. Desserts were fine, but not as good as the first and second courses. The chocolate souffle was too dense in the middle for my liking. The madeleines which come after dessert are quite large ... too much food ... no one ate them. Mignardises were nice little bites to end the night.

Hosted a team dinner in the private room and I don't know if this review could every describe how AMAZING the service was, Suzanna, Mary and the team were warm, attentive and constantly moving. Nothing was ever not filled, ad hoc requests were quickly fulfilled and I didn't of a single negative comment and there were 37 of us! Food was amazing, the passed hors d'oeuvres were simple and very flavorful, the tuna tartare and the little chip w/the crรจme and caviar were well balanced. We had folks that had dietary restrictions and Suzanna was making sure their needs were well taken care of. I shared bites with a co-worker because we couldn't make up our minds on the entrรฉe, they opted for the scallop and I had the duck, both were fantastic! The desserts were decadent and the crab bisque for the starter was what everyone raved about! Would highly recommend to anyone for personal or business dinners. Thank YOU! Props to Palmer, Elle, Alex & George too!

This place is a gem, a bit off the beaten track, with a wonderful menu. Perfect for special clients or friends, expensive but great value considering the quality of food and service. The menu changes, so check ahead but everything I've had, every tine, has been wonderful. DON'T forget to leave a little room for beignets!!!
Be the first to ReplyLovely evening on the patio at VP.
Seating was comfortable and the patio heaters kept us warm. Everyone was friendly and helpful in running through the menu. The star of the show was the food!! Delicious flavors, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully timed. I tried the panzotti and it was well balanced and brought me back to tastes of Italy. The plates explore flavors of nuttiness, bitter, and savory. I enjoyed every bite. The portions were generous and left nothing to be desired. I've been to their sister restaurants and by far VP is my favorite for ambiance and food. It was also nice seeing salt and pepper, beautifully presented, on the table to accommodate preferences. That was a nice touch. We did not receive the amuse bouche and mignardises and I think this must have been an oversight. I did not even realize they were missing until I saw another table served. Even though we did not experience the full menu, I left feeling satisfied and happy with everything we experienced. I will definitely be back to try their brunch menu and other dishes!

This review is more for myself as I like to keep tabs on certain restaurants I have on a "to try" list. Of the many Michelin rated spots we've tried this one didn't quite measure up. The service, ambiance, and wine list were definitely top-notch. However, the food which is the most important aspect for us, seemed to be hit or miss. The fennel and coriander crusted tuna was wonderful and somewhat unique, the beet and citrus salad was boring and tiny. The supplemental ribeye was nice and prepared well, the duck on the other hand was terrible. The duck was tough, it was not enjoyable to eat...there was a nice mandarin sauce to accompany it as well as a wonderfully flavorful farro, however besides the poor quality meat they laid one single mandarin segment on top of each round of duck breast, it was so odd and out of place. Chocolate soufflรฉ was good, the mille-feuille was not very good. Not sure we'll return.
Be the first to ReplyFirst, a shoutout to Bill K.
for being the sweetest, most attentive server I have ever met! My husband and I dined at The Village Pub tonight, to celebrate my 1 year of being Cancer free. Super friendly, caring staff took care of everything. Our server, Bill, took the time to explain each portion of the menu, giving his recommendations in each area (salads, entrees). He answered all our questions, as this was our first time dining at this restaurant. We could not have asked better service. All dishes came out promptly, no issues whatsoever, everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered: Ruby Red Beet & Winter Citrus Salad (no pic, sorry) Warren Pear & Belgian Endive Salad (no pic, sorry) Maine Lobster Vol-au-vent Applewood Grilled Brandt Ranch Ribeye Dessert: Madeleines Chai-spiced Cake Beignets We also received an Almond Macaroon as a free treat in honor of our celebration! Many thanks to The Village Pub staff, you definitely made our night a memorable one. We cannot wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is very special.
l always receive outstanding service with all great, great wait staff. All the food is consistently delicious. The ambiance is lovely! They greet you with a warm welcome. Bathrooms always clean. Bit on pricey side depending on what you order. I'd come here real often if I could afford it :) thanks Village Pub! and their sister restaurants Spruce and Selby's are also great!
Be the first to ReplyTop marks for food, service and ambience.
If you're looking for an off the beaten path for a lovely meal, this is your place.
Be the first to ReplyWe had the pleasure of dining at The Village Pub restaurant
We had the pleasure of dining at The Village Pub restaurant in Woodside, and I have to say, it was a great experience. This charming little spot is tucked away in an unassuming location, but it's definitely worth checking out. We've been there for brunch and dinner before, and both times were lovely. When we visited for brunch, we got to enjoy the outside patio on a nice day. The food was really good, and the service was attentive, but it did feel a bit rushed at times. Our kids loved the house bread, which was warm and soft.At dinner, we got to choose from a prefixed menu, and they even brought out an extra dessert for my wife's birthday - which was a really nice touch! I had the ribeye cap steak, which was tasty but had an additional significant up-charge. To be honest, I'm not sure if it was worth the extra cost. We also tried the chocolate soufflรฉ, which had a $6 charge, and while we love soufflรฉs, this one was a bit dry. I think a vanilla soufflรฉ would be a better bet.Overall, we had a great experience at The Village Pub and would definitely recommend it. The food is solid, and the service is attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, making it a great spot for a nice meal out for a special occasion. We can't wait to go back and try more of their options!

I did actually get a call from Juan and we had a very pleasant conversation. I now have a better understanding of why he was unable to respond sooner and believe that he is taking constructive steps to improve the Village Pub customer experience. Our server was extremely disdainful, unwelcoming, and ill-mannered!!! One of the WORST servers I've had if not the WORST. I actually felt uncomfortable eating here because of his demeanor. He made snarky comments and didn't check up on us at all. He was slow bringing out all the dishes and didn't explain them but when it came to the check he got it to us at the speed of light! He made sure to rub it in our face that 20% gratuity is included which made sense as to why he didn't care about how we were treated. Regardless of his tonality he was going to get his money. At this level this is totally unacceptable. As for the food it was mid... at best. Overpriced for what it is and definitely not a Michelin Star experience. For starters I had yellowfin tuna and my boy got the Dungeness crab risotto. Tuna was bland, tasted like it was from an all inclusive resort in Mexico, had no flavor! The risotto was yummy but I'd skip it and go to Gary Danko for the lobster risotto instead. For entree, I had the applewood grilled wagyu and he got the butter poached lobster. Honestly the wagyu tasted like unseasoned beef. We had Fleming's a few nights prior and it was better than this. Lobster was good though.Normally I'll look past bad service if the food is worth it but this place is a no go. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and will never come back. They need to get their star taken away.

Huge storm day, on a Tues yet full house and made to feel we were the only ones there. Hats off staff, great job of making us feel very welcomed and special. We've been coming for years and the chefs never fail to amaze at delivering on their superb menus. Both the New Zealand venison and duck tonight were made to perfection. Cocktails and wine service superb.Ambience, relaxed, and comfortable.
Be the first to ReplyCame here during the pandemic for some take-out.
More recently, for a holiday meal with the family which was 5 stars all the way. Service was spectacular. Latest visit was the weekend brunch. Prix fixe brunch. Did I mention the delicious mini scones? Photos say it all. Will I be returning? YES!
Be the first to ReplyI was a bit worried with some of the recent 1-3 star
I was a bit worried with some of the recent 1-3 star reviews as this was to be my wife's first experience at a Michelin star restaurant, I wanted her to be impressed and have a wonderful experience. That was achieved. We felt welcomed immediately, not even out of the parking lot before we were greeted with smiles, a welcome, and an opened door. You are enveloped with beautiful woods and deeps reds inside, intimate. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, which I liked since I had a direct view into the kitchen via an oven tunnel. Our server was enthusiastic and helpful and guided us through a fantastic and delicious evening. He helped narrow down dishes and make great drink and wine suggestions. The food was "close your eyes and savor good", but you want to make sure they are open before you eat because the dishes were plated nicely. The Village Pub is excellent and I would recommend it for a special meal.
Be the first to ReplyThe Village Pub gives a really memorable dining experience.
The amazing ambiance of the place strikes you the instant you walk in. The main drawback is that parking might be difficult because the lot fills up quickly. But nonetheless, the effort is well worth it for the excellent cuisine and service on offer inside. The Hamachi is a highlight dish that is just excellent. The tastes are well-balanced, and the fish is tender and fresh. The serving size is also generous, so you'll leave feeling full. The sommelier is especially noteworthy, as they selected an exquisite port to complement our deserts. They also provided us two alternatives to choose from, which was a nice touch.

Not worth the effort. If it wasn't for the company we kept, would not bother again........

Be the first to ReplyFirst of all, I would like to say that I am not a "fine
First of all, I would like to say that I am not a "fine dining" person. My partner wanted to experience a Michelin star restaurant. I assumed it would be pretentious and overpriced, and I certainly was lot let down -- it was both, in spades.Don't get me wrong. There were some great things. In particular, the duck was fantastic. The skin was nice and crispy. It was cooked a perfect medium rare. The reduction was a nice complement, although the pieces of quince they put on top were not needed. Also, my partner, who is gluten free got a vegetable "medley" much of which was undercooked and under seasoned, also not necessary.I also liked the wine selection. The list was more of book, like reading "War and Peace." I like everything I ordered, but I had to stick to the wine by the glass, otherwise I would have to take out a loan to get a bottle here. The lobster bisque, which many of you on this site seem to rave about, was reeking of saffron. The couple next to us ordered it first, and I could smell it wafting over from their table. When I tasted it -- my partner ordered it -- all I could last was the saffron. I like saffron, but it tends to take over a dish. I tasted little lobster. I've looked at 5 lobster bisque recipes, and none of them suggest saffron. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he treated me like I was stupid: "Hmmmmm . . . maybe we put some in the bouillabaisse." As far as I know, a bisque is not a bouillabaisse. A lobster bisque is orange. This soup was brown, almost like a gumbo. Maybe they should have called it a gumbo. My other complaint was the so-called beignets. A beignet, as everyone knows, is a light, fluffy pillow sprinkled with confectioner's sugar. What I got were doughnuts, not beignets. Actually, they were fancy doughnut holes with chocolate sauce. Once again, these are praised in other reviews, which puzzles me.As someone else mentioned, it took a long time to get our dishes. We got there about 5:30 and didn't finish until 7:45. Perhaps they feel that this is part of the "fine dinning" culture. This place seems well suited for those with too much money and time on their hands. The waiters were, of course, snooty and condescending. Out waiter felt he had to explain the menu to us. When I go out to dinner, I don't need to hear a lecture.Maybe my biggest problem is the 20% "service charge." Instead of a tip, the waiters get automatic 20%. Our waiter announced this as the end of the meal. I'm sure he wanted to be helpful, but it was kind of like rubbing it in: "No matter how crappy I am, I get 20% and there's nothing you can do about it." It would take a lot for me to tip that much, and that should be my choice, not a "policy" of the restaurant. Quite frankly, if I had know about this, I would not have gone to this restaurant. Luckily for them, my partner was paying.I feel that If I'm going to pay about $500 for a meal, it had better be perfect. It was not. For us, that is a lot of money, something of an investment. I was good, but not good enough. Perhaps the patrons of this establishment, especially that ones that leave 5-star reviews on this site, have lost their sense of taste and discernment. Maybe, too much saffron.

What a pleasant surprise! It's my first time in Woodside and this hidden gem is definitely worth the drive. I immediately fell in love with the sophisticated decor and red velvet couches I just sat right on in!Anyways, where do I start? I really appreciated the fast seating process. These days its the small things that gets me excited such as like knowing my reso is on time. So I started with the white asparagus (seasonal) and was a bit hesitant cause its 50$! Hahaaa but .... Idk I guess our server really did a good job upselling it. She told us that these asparagus never seen the light of day. So we were intrigued. I mean... it was good though. The truffle pasta was delishhh. Simple ingredients and packed with truffle so the flavours really stood out. Then ended dinner with a bang with their oh so yummy soufflรฉ! Bon appetite!

I came here for dinner service for my birthday a couple of months ago and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the serving size of each meal was pretty big compared to other tasting menus in the area. Staff was friendly and service was pretty quick for having a large party. I'm giving this place 4 stars because I came back again for brunch and the service was not consistent. Our brunch service was exceedingly slow. Another table next to us was seated after we were done with our appetizer, and we got our desserts and checks at the same time. Unfortunately due to my recent experience, it's not likely I will be back.

Food - 5 starsService - 4 starsAmbience - 4 starsThe dinner ย consists of an appetizer, entree and dessert. Very reasonable prices with gigantic portions with lots of add on options. I was so stuffed at the end I couldnt even finish my dessert. - Maine lobster bisque (+$10) ย - 5 stars, would recommend.- Squash caramelle pasta - 5 stars, would recommend.- First of the season white asparagus (+$50) - It was good, but probably not $50 good.- Honey glazed dry aged duck breast - Surprised by the huge portion size. Duck was cooked to a perfect medium. Recommended.- Almond Wood Grilled Prime Filet Mignon (+$20) - Cooked perfectly at medium rare. Recommended.- Beignets - Very light and delicious. Recommended.- Chocolate Souffle (+$6) - I was too full to finish this. It was very chocolate-y and thick. I probably would give this a pass unless you love chocolate.
