There's nothing wrong with this restaurant, but none of the food was good nor impressive. I found the truffle mac and cheese not tasty, and the popcorn chicken was just okay (blend, not crispy). I was excited to try out this place because it has high ratings on yelp, but it unfortunately turned out to be the biggest disappointment among all restaurants that I've tried in New York. The ambience was not bad, but the tables were super close to each other. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

The atmosphere is very loud, disorganized and chaotic. The food doesn't live up to the hype and is over priced for what they offer. The service was fine, but seems like they take more reservations than what they can actually fit or seat and times are never accurate. The gnocchi wasn't spicy and it didn't have much distinctive taste from what it presents on the menu.

Thursday Kitchen is a MUST every time I'm in the East Village. Those edamame dumplings... let me tell you... they are seriously life-affirming. I've taken four friends here and every one of them agreed... those little nuggets of joy take you on a beautiful and heavenly flavor journey and once you try them, you'll be fiending for more... Other than the dumplings though, everything else I've tried on the menu has been great. I'd highly recommend the truffle mac, steak, and BREAD PUDDING!! And last but not least, the ambiance is amazing in here! Such a great place to hang out with friends, and definitely worth the hour wait. I look forward to coming back again :-)

Thursday Kitchen was recommended by a co-worker, and I wish I could kiss them on the mouth for it. Because yes, this spot is just that good and just that unique and just that special. When we arrived, there was a 45-minute wait, but it went be pretty quickly. Once inside, we were ready to go IN. Because this is a Korean tapas spot, they recommend 2-3 tapas per person. So, while the portions are small (and pricey), you're likely to eat things you can't have anywhere else. So, here's what we got. The soft shell crab (10/10 in terms of breading and the sauce it was on top of); tuna tartare tacos (9/10 cause I wish it would've had just one more); gnochhi (9/10 for being perfectly soupy and spicy and amazing); lucky noodles (10/10 and probably my fave bite of the night); edamame dumplings (8/10 super flavorful, but the texture threw me just a bit); Korean popcorn chicken (7/10 although delish, this didn't blow us away). This spot is also know for their Capri Sun-style drinks with a soju base. I went with the grapefruit and strawberry versions, and they were refreshing, light but pack quite a punch. Only cons are how loud it gets in there (it's a small space, so what can you do) and the fact that there's only one bathroom. I had to wait around 20 minutes to use it, so be prepared.

Romantic setting. Get the capri-Sun inspired cocktails.

My ABSOLUTE favorite restaurant in NY! There's food is delicious, vibes are fun, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I would die for the edamame dumplings.

Great service, yes it's tapas- between two people we ordered 3 dishes and it was enough. Steak, gnocchi and noodles. Yes expensive for food amount. My main thing was all the food was slightly over sauced/salty. Could just be me, you decide

This was a feast for the eyes and my stomach because everything was so delicious and quite filling. I did appreciate how the server brought in each dish in an order that complimented each other even though these are small dishes standing on their own. The order it arrived (which is not guaranteed if you order the same items) are as followed Tuna Tartar Tacos, Truffle Mac, Korean Popcorn Chicken, Duck Confit Empanadas, and Kimchi Paella. While I was eating the music was very lively and current trending music and people were enjoying their meals and conversations without being too loud since the restaurant has a very chill underground vibe

Honestly came here for the aesthetic pouch drinks but the restaurant turned out to be surprisingly good! Would check out this korean tapas restaurant if you're in the area. Only downside is the food was a little expensive for what you got. The waitress recommended 2-3 tapas per person which was just the right amount. Favorite dishes: steak, noodles, gnocchi, popcorn chicken. Din lighting restaurant with a decent amount of seating. If you do walk in it was about 1-1.5hr wait for dinner time so I'd recommend getting a reservation before.

Loved this restaurant's small dishes and fast service! We didn't have to wait at 7 PM on a Thursday. Prices are super approachable and drinks are delicious. Get the noodles and gnocchi if you go. Edamame dumplings and popcorn chicken were slightly overrated but still delish. A fun, loud, bustling restaurant with great service. Would go again!

My initial impression of this place was walking by on a week night and seeing it packed, so I took a mental picture.A few weeks later on a cold rainy night straight out of a Charles Dickens novel, the homie suggests we take try this spot for dinner. Easy call. They don't take reservations so we show up and are told the wait is a bout 20 minutes. We opt to wait outside under some cover outside of the restaurant. I for one marvel at the beautiful violence of rain. It fell heavily and effortlessly with no meaning or purpose but the fulfillment of its own nature, which was to fall and fall. To appreciate the sun you have to know what rain is.Anyways, they texted us when our table was ready. We sat down right next to a fire place in the back of the restaurant.I guess the thing here is to try a drink that they serve out of a capri sun pouch or something? Typically, I'll try anything once just for the culture but I looked around, and seeing other customers drinking out of little lit up plastic bags did not inspire me. I got the pinot. The homie pointed out that "I love that they serve wine out of glasses that they shouldn't be serving wine out of." Okay I shouldn't have put that in quotes as I was paraphrasing, but she said something like that. I'm not sure why but I really felt that in my soul. Glassware out of left field is such an elite touch. For food we got the edamame dumplings, steak, lucky noodles, soft shell crab, and popcorn chicken.I'd say the highlight of the meal was the popcorn chicken and edamame dumplings. I had never had edamame dumplings in my life, but the combination of soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, honey and chili sauce was just the right blend of sweet, savory and spicy.Overall, this place was very good but a bit pricey for the small portions. I'd say a bit overhyped, but if you come in with no expectations it would be phenomenal. Expectations are the root of all heartache.
Be the first to ReplyThe meals were well-balanced and really elegant.
Went with a friend and we had asparagus, dumplings, softshell crab, and gnocchi to share. By the end, we were perfectly full. The staff was excellent. Impressive and reasonably priced wine list.

Still over an hour wait. They do tapas style dishes. They say it's Korean fusion but it's mostly just general fusion food. Dishes are about 15$+. Space inside is cozy but too chilly if you are unfortunately seated next to the door. Dishes I liked:Steak. Small slice of steak cooked medium rare and cut in slices. Really tasty and well cooked.Lucky noodle dish: chewy thick noodles with some bits of meat and really tasty sauce. Small dish.Mac and cheese: really good white cheddar cheese and truffle amount. Good portion size.Dishes I thought were ok:Soft shell crab: small fried crab. Was ok tastingKorean chicken: meat tasted good and nice portion. Expected crispier since Korean chicken or with more spiceDuck empanadas: Empanada felt very dryDrinks:They have these soju light up drink cocktails. Tried the mango lychee and would not recommend

Food was not bad. Given that it was a Korean tapas place, I expected small plates on the pricier side. Overall, the service was fast, ambience was great, and food was decent. Kimchi Paella: Felt more like a risotto than a paella to me, but flavor was great and portion was pretty big. Split between my friend and I, we left feeling full. 3.5/5Ugly Potatoes: I LOVED these! I am a sucker for potatoes, but they were crispy, simple and delicious. 4.5/5Edamame Dumplings: Not my favorite. Similar filling to ravioli. The edamame was mixed with something cheesy? inside a dumpling wrapper and dressed in a lemon sauce. Definitely not what I expected so it was a bit strange at first, but my friend seemed to enjoy it. 2/5

Thursday Kitchen, where Korean, French, and Spanish influences collide to create a tapas-style dining experience. The drinks and tapas are playful but be warned - it's pricey and there's a long wait on Thursday nights. For drinks, we ordered the Ruby the GF and Lychee Reach Rich cocktails, both made with soju, but tasted like juice with a splash of alcohol. They looked pretty, but we wouldn't order them again. Ruby the GF was subtly citrusy with a grapefruit twist, while Lychee Reach Rich was sweet and mango-y. Just skip on the drinks unless you want an overpriced fruity juice box. They were both a 3 out of 5. We started with the Duck Confit Empanadas, which were crispy and fried to perfection. The duck was spiced just right, and the dill creme fraiche balanced out the richness of the empanada. It was love at first bite - 5 out of 5.Next up were the Edamame Dumplings. These little guys were bursting with flavor thanks to the truffle oil and creamy truffle and cheese filling. The edamame undertone added a nice touch, and the citrusy flavor rounded it all out. Too bad it only came with 4 small pieces. 5 out of 5.The Truffle Mac & Cheese was the epitome of comfort food. The gooey cheese, flambeed on top, was the perfect amount of creamy, but it was also very heavy. We had to take a breather after a few bites, so we gave it a 4 out of 5.The Lucky Noodle was made with hand-torn flat noodles, which was the perfect vessel for the tangy, creamy, and spicy minced beef. The result was a burst of amazing flavors - 5 out of 5.The atmosphere was a little loud, but the service was top-notch. All in all, Thursday Kitchen was a great spot for a night out with friends. We left feeling satisfied and cultured, even if our wallets were a little lighter.
Be the first to ReplyI would definitely come back here.
Been wanting to try it for a while and it did not disappoint! The wait was long but they had bar and outdoor seating available right away so that was great. Their glow drinks in a pouch are one thing they're known for so ofc tried those - they were strong as HELL be ready for a ride!!! Our waitress was super nice since I spilled mine the second I picked it up. She wiped it all up and even had the bartender make me a new one for free - a real one. then alll the food was incredible and so flavorful. They said the food would take 30-40 minutes to come out but it didn't take quite that long. Everything is super fresh since they bring it out to you the second it gets put on the plate. Would highhhly recommend the Steak dinner - it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was incredible, especially when paired with the kale. Also really liked the edamame dumplings since the truffle flavor was very strong.

Being a Korean tapas restaurant, small, but highly priced plates were expected. Since last night was my girlfriend's and my first time dining at Thursday Kitchen, we were informed that plates tend go be on the smaller side, it's better to order most or all at the same time, things come out on based on the order of which orders are received, and they recommend ordering 2-3 dishes per person. The Soft Shell Crab was crispy, the Tuna Tartare Taco had a nice kick, the Truffle Mac & Cheese was cheesy, the Korean Popcorn Chicken was sweet, and the Steak was slightly sweet and cooked perfectly. The food was great, don't get me wrong. I've given Thursday Kitchen 2 stars on this review due to the rest of our experience. We arrived at around 9:45 PM and ordered our food before 10:00 PM. Based on the Yelp page, we thought that Thursday Kitchen closes at 11:00 PM on Wednesdays. We began to sense that there was a discrepancy between our knowledge and reality when our server told us that the kitchen was doing their last call around 10:00 PM and 10:15 PM. Most diners in the restaurant were already clearing out, too. Staff - kitchen and servers alike - were beginning to wonder and become antsy in the dining area. Those that weren't doing this were cleaning and seemingly closing up shop. I get that! I used to work at a restaurant. I wanted to get home at the same time as everyone else, too. It made me think, are they closing? After a quick search, I had mistakenly gone by Yelp's business hours and not by the one on Google. At the time of this review, Thursday Kitchen's Yelp page says that it is open on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM. However, Google says that Thursday's business hours were only until 10:30 on Wednesdays. Had we had known the correct business hours, we would have just steered clear, because we knew we wouldn't have had the time. Needless to say, this needs to be fixed! This discrepancy was the single reason why my girlfriend and I felt rushed to leave. Around 10:15, we asked for the check and a to-go-box, and we were out of there at more or less 10:30. A few more things to note, as staff were cleaning up and preparing to go home, one of the kitchen staff that came out to the dining area stared my girlfriend down in an intimidating manner. This DID NOT contribute to a good experience, even though we were near closing. Not cool. The spacing between tables is also too close. I felt like I was more apart of the conversations at the tables next to me than I was at my own table.

Ummm... so this place isn't really 3 star if $15 for a small ass plate isn't much for you (it may be 4 star in that case). But considering the price and the food altogether - this place is definitely overrated. Food is not bad, it's just not worth it. Like I wouldn't take friends here and hype about it, that would be cringy.Good to try once, but definitely not as good as people and reviews make it seem. Peace out.
Be the first to ReplyFirst off this place is a little walk from the busy St.
Mark's Place area. There was a short line forming as patrons waited for their party or were waiting to be seated. Our turn had come and the hostess greeted us and was super friendly. She asked how many, we said 2 and she looked at her pad. Glanced at my wife's pregnant belly and told us to hold on a second. Moments later she offered us the bar area, we were very grateful because the woman before us said she needed a table for 4 and was told 50 minutes. WTF mate she put her name down and left. This only made me want to try this place more, which my wife was already raving about on our way there. My honest opinion; food was very good, portions are small and I'd recommend it would be a good idea to order 7-9 plates for 2-2 1/2 people. The food was very tasty, the chef is aware of asian flavors and their harmonious dishes show their thoughtfulness. The place is super busy. The hostess was amazing, it was a Wednesday night and I almost thought it was Friday night. Our waitress was super friendly and was nice enough to recommend the soft shell Crab. She was super attentive even on a busy night. Food was 8/10 portions are very small, I mention this because I know a lot of people are not used to tapas style eating. Anyways I will be back, with a baby next time. Hopefully we can find a nice quiet corner to dine. Conclusion: definitely try this place!!Tips, try everything.
