This will be my destination restaurant every time I visit Vienna! It is difficult to find fine dining vegan experiences in Vienna, but Tian is that! We had a delicious fixed price shared dinner. Every dish was beautifully presented and so flavorful and delicious. We were so full that I had to take home the desserts and eat later - still beautiful and delicious! I would highly recommend, whether or not you are vegan!

Nice ambiance with attentive staff, most of them are friendly. The meal had lots of variation with all different sorts of ingredients. I was able to have a vegan version which was nice. Loved the box of treats at the end with all sorts of creative sweet options. My only disappointment was the wine selection by the glass. They did not have a full bodied red and I had to settle for something I didn't really enjoy.

Appropriate review for #2500Dinner on our anniversary was celebrated at Tian. Having a Michelin Star Vegetarian restaurant was a no-brainer and they treated us right!Offering a set menu of 8 courses we opted in for the wine pairing and we were offHighlighting the seasonal vegetables of the area, we were treated to grains, root vegetables & did someone say truffle? Out of everything we had, what stood out for me was the homemade pasta with truffle in butter sauce. You'll have to try it for yourselvesWines were incredibly inventive & adventurous but totally hit the mark. So much so we made sure to get a rundown of everything we had before we left & the staff happily obliged Rundown: 2 sparkling wines; wine pairing12 courses including amuse & surprisesTakeaway packet of seeds to start our own gardens4 hours€500 including tip

Vegetarian heaven on Earth! I have eaten many cuisines in many different countries but I've to say Tian is one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants ever! The food was unique, colorful, very tasty & beautifully designed. The chef & his staff were amazing, restaurant ambiance was very welcoming! My husband, son and I decided to just walk in as we were tourists in Vienna visiting from Seattle. I did not see any reviews or read about this place before walking in and boy! We were totally blown away with their food & services! We were surprised few times with colorful & stunning dishes & we did not expect such excellent food & services! The chef & his team were kind enough to make nut free food for my son who has allergies. In the end, the chef spoke to us all and gave my son his autographed cooking book. It was a perfect end to our Vienna vacation! Thank you Tian team for making it a very special experience for us! I hope you guys open a vegetarian branch in Seattle!
Be the first to ReplyThis is not Moosewood Collective-style vegetarian food but
This is not Moosewood Collective-style vegetarian food but rather fine dining that just happens to be all-vegetable. The room is beautiful, the tables are spread far apart so that you feel like you're dining in private and the service is friendly, knowledgeable, witty and highly professional. We had the light three course lunch for 37 Euros and everything was delicious, inventive, complex and artfully arranged on the plate. Yes it's a bit of a splurge for lunch but considering the spectacular setting, the high level of service and the quality of the food, this was a splurge I was happy that we chose to make. My only minor complaint (and this happened at other restaurants in Vienna so maybe it is just par for the course there) is that there was a 4 Euro per person cover charge added on top (the bread and butter were outstanding though).
Be the first to ReplyFully vegetarian, vegan-friendly.
This was the best meal I've had in Vienna and one of the best veg meals I've had in Europe. Service was excellent--pacing maybe a little leisurely, but it worked well for us, and the servers were available and attentive. The food was the real star, though. Creative, interesting combinations and uses of ingredients. Just enough inspiration from molecular gastronomy but not over-the-top or precious.
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to like this place, but pacing was
I really wanted to like this place, but pacing was terrible, it took 3.5 hours to complete 8 courses. It could have easily taken 4 hours if we didn't tell the waiter to rush the last 3 courses. Service was horrendous, wine and water glasses were constantly empty. When someone left the table, napkins were not folded. Strangely enough the table next to us had theirs folded when they got up from their table. Maybe we just had an awful waiter, but overall service was lackluster and I don't sense the staff wanting to give diners a magical experience. Temperature control was non-existent, the restaurant got so warm that diners started stripping down (ties, jackets and sweaters). A lady sitting by one of the doors actually opened it, and left it ajar as the place became very stuffy. Food was solid, but with such high temperature I lost my appetite. I don't understand how with such poor service they could keep their Michelin star. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but I was very disappointed and feel like someone needs to provide a "buyers beware" warning.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best meals of my life.
The vegan tasting menu is superb. From beginning to end everything was incredibly tasty, outstanding quality and locally sourced. The service was absolutely professional and the environment was very elegant, but perhaps more importantly, comfortable. I enjoyed the creativity and the pleasure of enjoying an 8 course meal during four hours on a very pleasant summer evening. The wine pairing were also perfect, and while I'm not a big fan of beer, pairing dessert with an Austrian beer worked pretty well. I used to like Austrian wine before, after Tian I would put it among my favorites. Tian definitely provides the experience of Vienna at its best. I know, it's pricy but worth every Euro.
Be the first to ReplyWe were excited to try this restaurant after all the meat
We were excited to try this restaurant after all the meat we had been eating during our trip. This restaurant has one of those menus were it lists a couple of ingredients only so you are never really sure what you are getting. Every single dish had amazing flavor and we were blown away! Everyone was super friendly and helpful with our daughter. They were super great about our young daughter and the fact that we had no reservations. They saw that she was still tired from jetlagged and offered for her to lay down on the neighboring booth and gave her pillows and blankets. Our only complaint was that service got progressively slower as the the courses continued. Customers that came before us and after us all ended their meals at the same time as us. We will definitely be back though because the food was so memorable!!!
Be the first to ReplyI don't always eat at Michelin starred restaurants, but
I don't always eat at Michelin starred restaurants, but when I do, they're 100% vegetarian. Sorry. That's not accurate. I just had to get that out of my system.I was ecstatic when I found out this place existed. I enjoy fine dining, but as a vegetarian, I often get shafted. This is especially true of places with tasting menus. For a three digit pricetag, I want artistry, not an afterthought.Tian did not disappoint in any way. The food was as interesting and as beautiful as you see in the pictures, and many of the twelve+ courses we tried were absolutely phenomenal. The sauerkraut and mushroom cannelloni dishes were my favorites, and my omnivore husband was blown away with how savory vegetarian food can be. We did laugh at ourselves over the cheese plate because we told our server we like strong cheeses forgetting that we come from the land of pasteurization. Strong cheese in Europe is on a whole other funk level.Service was just outstanding as is to be expected in a Michelin starred restaurant. What we didn't expect was such an affordable wine list. We enjoyed a bottle of 2005 blaufränkisch for ~40 euros, and there were other bottles that were even cheaper. I appreciate that kind of variety in a wine list. Aesthetically, the restaurant is also very pleasing. Our dinner at Tian was one of the high points of an excellent central European trip.
Be the first to ReplyVery interesting experience.
Like any, I always compare to others I have had. I have not found a vegetarian high end restaurant like this before, so it was interesting to try. What I liked:- The effort in each meal. Beautiful plating.- Taste of each meal with or without the wine pairing.- Excellent service. Receptive to questions regarding how to go about eating the presented meal.- Decor was very pleasant and relaxing. The other side of the coin:- Price. I have been to many high end, exclusive, and experimental places in my time. This place is the most expensive, which surprised me. I wouldn't say they are overpriced as I enjoyed the experience. At some point you wonder why is it this high though. And this is where the cards are stacked against Tian for the cost argument. Even if the greens are organic, locally grown, wine imported from who knows where, and the location is in the 1st district, I just can't understand why the cost is this high. My conclusion is, because they can. I really enjoyed this experience and would recommend it to anyone. However, I would not return since it seems like a poor investment of this amount of money regardless of how much one earns. Arguably the most expensive restaurant in the city.- Email communication has no responses. I tried to organised something special and my emails were unanswered.
